Best Western Suites

I recently stayed at the Best Western Inn and Suites for 3 nights while attending the Ohio State Fair, and everything was fine. I’ve actually been staying at this location for the past three years, and it’s always been a good experience. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. My room was clean, the air conditioner worked perfectly, and it stayed nice and cool the whole time. The daily breakfast buffet was decent too—nothing fancy, but a nice way to start the day. The indoor pool was nice and clean and my daughter enjoyed swimming. I also really like the location—it’s right off the freeway, and just up the street there’s a nice area with plenty of restaurants and shopping stores which was very convenient.

Price point sometimes should be a warning. Listen, this is a chain that I use often, and I am a premium member of BW. Usually I stay in BW Premiere and have always enjoyed my stay. Recently I stayed in BW regular brand and was quite happy. But, this time I was very disappointed. First, the rooms have no carpeting and consequently I felt like I was in an empty room, or a college dorm. The AC unit was loud and made sleep a challenge. But, outside the window the constant sound of dripping water was the sound if the AC was turned off.. not an easy or pleasant sleep environment. The gym is the size of a closet and the indoor pool looked dirty. Not the place to stay if you are looking for a place for R&R, as I was. |The breakfast was very nice, the staff quite friendly, the price point good. However, the room just made me wanting something better and more comfortable.

My daughter and I were in town for a softball tournament at Berliner. The hotel is about a 15 min drive to the park and overall the area seemed accommodating with a lot of stores and restaurants. Although we did find it odd that most every store had security guards. Maybe theft is horrible in the area. Now about the hotel. I booked this hotel because of the reviews and it was about $50 cheaper a night than any other hotels in the area. First let say the ladies at the front desk were super nice and accommodating. No complaints about the customer service they provided. We were initially assigned room 123. When we opened the door to the room we were instantly hit with a very strong stale cigarette smell. We immediately went to the front desk and asked for different accommodations. We were then assigned to room 214. This room too had a stale smell although I wouldn’t describe it as cigarette just stale air and poor circulation which we later believed to be coming from the ac unit. The room was extremely hot so we immediately went over and turned the temp down from 68 to the lowest temp where it stayed and struggled to keep the room cool for the remainder of our stay. This room and the hallways are in desperate in of a deep cleaning. There was brown splatter on the door frames and baseboards. Crumbs and a dead mosquito in the corner behind the one nightstand that had something white spilled down the whole one side. The chair at the desk was functional but definitely not aesthetically pleasing with the chucks of fabric missing from it. ||The hotel lobby at times and hallways reeked of weed. Just got old smelling it everywhere.||Out side of our room was a parking light that shined right into our room at night and even with the black out curtains and a hair clip to hold them together it lit our room up to a point I had to go buy a sleep mask because it kept me up throughout our first night. ||The pillows are in serious need of being replaced. They are small, flat, and offer little to no support. Thankfully we did bring a couple pillows with us from home. Mattress wasn’t the most comfortable but wasn’t the worst I have ever slept on. ||Overall I am perplexed on the reviews of this hotel as we definitely didn’t have the same opinions as most of the previous reviews led us to believe. The hotel is definitely an older hotel that has done some cosmetic improvements but unfortunately I just couldn’t oversee the filth beyond those new pictures on the wall. We were more than happy to be checking out the day we departed. Not a hotel we would consider in the future regardless of any review or cheaper rate.

I would only really stay here unless it was a good deal. We stayed here for 3 nights as somewhere to stay for our grandma passing and I have things to say. We checked into the first room and there appeared to be blood or some dark red substance on the sheets of one of the beds, I should've taken a picture when I had the chance but we went to the front desk about it and they kindly gave us a new room and the room was adequate. The two queen beds are spacious and comfy but the couch bed on the other hand... very squeaky, very loud, and the springs on the mattress topper hurt like I don't know but it was not comfortable whatsoever and they didn't have spare sheets or another blanket for it so we had to call to get that. We like our rooms cold and the lowest the AC goes down to is 66 which was a bummer and there appears to be a cooling problem where the room doesn't cool properly because two of us said they couldn't sleep because they were too hot and the other one and said they were too cold so I don't know. The bathroom has a nice shower with a shower head with decent pressure except the tub or something is leaking because right before I got out of the shower, the floor was covered in standing water and there wasn't a switch to turn on the vent so there was condensation making the room hot and humid. The breakfast was alright, nothing exceptional. The laundry machine and dryer were very old allowing quarters only (1.50 each cycle) but they cleaned and dried my clothes well and there's only one laundry machine and one dryer so it might be taken. The hotel itself looks nice and modern and has a pool but we didn't bother. Very close to the interstate with a few restaurants in walking distance. Yeah, I mean we saw good reviews and thought this place would be worth it but I don't know if I'm ever gonna stay at a best western again; I've seen so much better all around the US for better prices.

I have to stay in hotel rooms for about 200 days a year due to work. This place i will come again, it was nice, very clean. Actually, the screen was not clean, so I cleaned it myself and hated to breathe in extra germs! But that's why I checked them and everyone should ! But other than nice nice staff and really nice rooms, safe place to stay

Positive: Location, staff, and breakfast attendants were the most memorable from our stay. Bed was comfortable. Pool was clean, spa was clean and hot. Negative: The staff at front desk and the staff attending breakfast was very friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping was lacking attentiveness during our 4 night stay, only requested housekeeping to tidy up after 2nd night which was never done. Cleaned ourselves.

A very modern, clean and comfortable property. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, made even better by an unusually rare 12pm check out time. One of the best showers I had during my 10 day trip in 6 hotels. The bed was so comfortable, but I couldn't get the room temperature as cold as I like to sleep. Not a big deal.||Good food, hot and with variety. The coffee machine is just silly. What happened to coffee pots or large thermos? I would rather get my coffee and return to my breakfast before it gets cold instead of watching a video on the machine about coffee while I wait more than 2 minutes for an 8oz cup of coffee to be dispensed. Modern isn't always better....||The internet was adequate for browsing, but not video viewing. I missed my kids' school Spring Concert during this trip, so my wife uploaded it to our YouTube channel. About 5 minutes into watching the 20 minute video, the wifi throughput dropped to an unusable level and I couldn't continue watching unless I refreshed the web page and started from where it left off. Then about 5 minutes later - same thing. My laptop's wifi monitor confirmed download speeds went to almost zero. Same result using my phone with the wifi||I felt very safe during my stay with all external doors locked 24/7 and the front desk staffed. I will look up this property again on my next trip through the area

Check-In and Out was Easy:) Front desk clerk referred to me by name with a welcoming bag😳 This is rare for me as a BW Diamond customer, much appreciated. Nice TV and overall good channel selection:) Hard thin pillows and bed hard also, not to my liking. Nice shower pressure and plenty of hot water:) Plenty of of towels:) Overall good night sleep, but you hear every time a door is shut in the hall at night:( Room #303 overall came off clean, floor could use a better detail cleaning , dirt spots on wood floor and unswept areas in corners. Great breakfast for a BW with plenty of help and organized , we were IMPRESSED! Many of their staff were engaging and friendly:) Very nice area, came off safe:)

I have one thing to say, bed bugs. Found around 4am. We were placed in a new room, told a discount would be requested heard nothing further. Left a folder in the room and when I went down to the front desk, was told that it is a hotel and bed bugs happen...seriously I was very impressed with how kind and polite the staff was at check in and was expecting a wonderful experience with my daughter & her friend. I am a nurse. I understand how easily this can happen. I'm also in the business of customer service. I know better....

NEW OWNERSHIP and he has zero care for the long time customers! Unbelievably disappointed by the policy changes at this facility. They no longer offer group rates or bookings for that matter. They no longer honor our military with any discount and no discount for AARP or AAA.

We went here for a weekend trip, our bathroom door did not lock and we couldn't find the hot tub, not that we would want to. There was about 10 kinds diving into the pool when we went with 1 adult around. Zero problems with staff and rooms were very clean. Included breakfast has a waffle maker which is a very big plus in my book

Our room was beautiful & even had a Jacuzzi! It was big, clean and had a refrigerator & microwave. The next day the hotel provides a great hot breakfast with fluffy eggs, ham, and biscuits & gravy. Also yogurt with 4 or 5 different toppings, oatmeal, bagels, Milk and juice. The staff is also great and texted us to see if we were happy & if we needed anything. Great place and great people, we will definitely be back!

Incredible management filled with kind workers and spacious rooms. A couple of complaints are that the Wi-Fi was a 4/5 and the chair provided in the room is very awkward to sit in. Besides that, the breakfast service had many options that were great. The shower had a great water pressure and a wide array of heat levels. Highly recommend staying at Best Western.

Room was very dirty, & hadn't been dusted in forever! The A.C was horrible we sweated all night, the pool was closed down for repairs, not a good start for are first time in Ohio! Breakfast was nice!

The couch was so nasty we wouldn't even put our bags on it and the corners of the bathroom and room clearly don't get any cleaning attention. There is mold starting to form where the tile and tub meets in the corners. Interesting because on google reviews this place rates much higher which is why I booked but feel the need to write a review more accurate to reflect our recent stay.

We had a great stay here over Thanksgiving. Reservations: they saw and honored our request to have adjoining rooms. Rooms: very large. We got two queen suites which actually have 3 beds, 2 queens and a sofa bed pull out. Works great for families I like the overall design of the hotel (having stayed at many a BW). On each floor they have doors between the elevator/ice maker area to the rooms. This really cuts down the hallway noise. It also dissuades kids from running up and down the hallways. Breakfast: nice separate eating area with the usual BW free breakfast fare. Eggs, waffles, toast, pastries, cereal, oatmeal etc. Service: no issues during our stay and the front desk was very friendly.

After lengthy searches online, and through a dozen or so booking agents, this was the final choice hotel for my trip to Columbus for the week-end. It has met or exceeded all of my expectations in a mid-level hotel. It is 6 minutes from Columbus proper, on the west end, and surrounded by eating options. I am well pleased with the quality of my stay. Pros: Modern accoutrement, pletiful parking, friendly, helpful staff, and more added value options than you often expect in a sub-$100 per night hotel. Cons: Book directly. I used an agent, and they got it all scewy. The hotel wasn't immediately accomodating, but after the mixup was mended, things went well.

Room is very comfortable and large. Not understanding the negative reviews I'm seeing. They must have had a major overhaul since those visits.

The room was ok but the employees are some of the most unprofessional I've seen, or heard. Give me a rude awakening, yelling outside my room about how you dont like your job, I gave you one by informing your boss. They then came into the dinning room to complain about me complaining sayings, it's always guests. Knowing it was someone in there eating that had reported them.

Pretty good experience except they need a shuttle service to Hollywood Casino, because we were told they had one. Also wanted to use the heated pool & hot tub.......they closed it because they needed to clean it. It wouldn't have been a big deal, but we were told that it would be open until 10pm , & they shut it down at 3pm. Staff is very helpful, especially Howie. He was nice enough to come to our room to show us how to fix our TV. Btw, the TV needs to be on HDM1 to receive service

Great spot to stay for a night when traveling. Lady at the front desk was extremely nice. Rooms are very spacious. Bed was comfortable and free breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend for travelers!

This hotel is very clean and quiet which is nice. The staff was great but walking into the room I had reserved for the first time was awful. It smelled like a basement and it was extremely humid. The bed is extremely uncomfortable. I got little sleep and I have the worst neck pain. The power for the tv was for some annoying reason was connected to a light switch that turned on the door light. So in order to watch something on tv you need to keep that bright light on.

All in all it was ok. I made a stop on my way to Indianapolis. It was late so options were slim, but I would have like more from my $100 for the night. The place seems to have been remodeled. The room looked nice although it was very musty. The smell reminded me of my grandparents basement. The mattress was too soft. The breakfast was much better than most free breakfasts with a fair number of choices.

I drove 6 hours from Chicago Illinois I made a reservation.The lady at the front desk was nice and friendly. I DID LIKE that they had an indoor pool as well as my room being clean. The only bad part was finding trouble to park my 18ft work truck over all it's a decent place to stay for one night

When we first got to our hotel the room, the smell throughout was of thick smoke. Secondly, there were dead bugs all around the tables. What really got me was that the bathroom was filthy. There was old hair in the bathtub and the toilet at ore stains on the top and along the rim. Why I gave another star was that they had someone clean the room right away and gave us a discount off our bill. We couldn't get another room because the hotel was booked for a wedding, but at least they tried to accommodate us the best they could. Would not stay here again though.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Let me start off by saying from the meme that we walked in, gross and terrible things just kept getting uncovered. The place is crawling with bed bugs, the room smells so bad and musty.. I've never been somewhere that smelled so bad. They have a spray airfreshener stuck on the wall to try to mask the odor... not only does it not help.. but if your anywhere around it.. it will spray right onto your face, in your lungs... it was by the desk and my kids were gagging when it would go off. Our room was so incredibly loud... there are extra doors to get to the guest rooms that were constantly slamming... ALL NIGHT LONG. One of our mattresses had a bed bug cover on it, the other was just very stained and gross. Our sheets had tiny holes in them and were damp. The bed and pillows were some of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept on. The bathroom was so dirty and looked like years of built up grime. I woke up at 7am to workers talking so loudly to each other about rooms being infested with bed bugs and them being terrified they were going to bring them home. The whole experience was just terrible. The price of this hotel is so overpriced. The management was in complete denial about the bed bugs (how could the staff be talking about them.. along with some mattresses have bed bug covers on them). Go ANYWHERE but this hotel... I'm still so worried we have walked out with bed bugs.

Garbage hotel. There was a dirty condom in our room and the whole room smelled like mold. The hot tub is so small and none of the other patreons would let us go in. We left before even spending the night. Never again will I stay at a best western.

Hotel room is nice. Got presidential suite for Valentine's Day and it was worth it for the jetted tub

The staff was awesome! Me and my family came in around midnight and the lady working the counter was so helpful and friendly. Checked in with ease and I decided to stay up and chat with her to help the time pass since I have insomnia and she was working a graveyard shift. The breakfast was grand as well (I watched her set it all up lol). The rest of the staff was nice and the rooms were top notch as well. I do recommend this hotel.

We have stayed at least 30 nights in various Best Western since January. Staying at this BW was a big mistake. When I checked in there was a fellow drinking a beer and chatting up the receptionist like she was a bartender. Not a great 1st impression. It got worse. When we got to the room there was no WIFI. Called the front desk and her response was: Ya, it's been down for a couple of days. Customers have been complaining but it's not our fault. Just keep trying and maybe it will come up. The room a/c was so loud we had to shut it off. There was an annoying industrial type roar in the ceiling. We could have switched rooms but we were ready for bed and didn't want to pack/unpack. Breakfast is offered. Fresh fruit was 2 over ripe bananas not fit to eat. The rest of the offerings were decent. However, there were no forks and there were none to be found by the attendant. When I checked out, once again I had to wait because there was a guy chatting up the morning receptionist. When I checked out no one asked me how our stay was, nice to have you, hope you come back etc. This BW just does not measure up to other BW's where we have stayed. Staff is very unprofessional. We will NEVER stay here again!

Hotel room floor was wet, and the room smelt like someone try to mask it from cigarette smoke. We got in a little late so we didn't even bother getting another room. Construction workers littered the whole parking lot drinking beer until late. Other than that Everything looked very updated and the staff was really nice.

Only good part is the breakfast room. We stayed for two nights. When we came to check in it took her at LEAST 15 minutes for her to even acknowledge us because she was on the phone, a professional at an acceptable hotel would pause and say I will be with you shortly not just ignore the fact that you have people there. The first night went to the front desk to request pool towels, and no one came up. We were waiting for around 15 minutes so we just used our room towels. The next day we again went to the front desk for pool towels since the housekeeper didn't replace our used towels just took them out of the room. This time someone showed up promptly and checked for towels and informed us she would bring some to the pool for us as they did not have any at the desk. It took her over 30 minutes for her to bring them. The day we checked in the housekeeper was bitching at the maintenance man rather loudly, and constantly rolled her eyes. We got the whirlpool suit. The room was average until we tried to enjoy the tub together.....not a two person tub it's hardly even a single person tub. No sauna when it claims to have one. Overall NOT worth the money!
