Tried the peach 🍑, didn’t love it but didn’t hate it. I’d consider trying something else if I were to go back. Service was very friendly!

Nestled in the heart of the town, this small ice cream shop, Beth Marie's, is a hidden gem that delights the senses with its delectable treats. Each scoop is a masterpiece, crafted with care and precision. The flavors range from classic favorites to inventive creations that push the boundaries of ice cream bliss. Whether you savor the rich creaminess of a traditional vanilla or embark on a flavor adventure with their unique combinations, every bite is a symphony of taste. The atmosphere is charming, with cheerful colors and cozy seating that invites you to linger and savor the moment. The staff is not just serving ice cream; they're curators of happiness, ready to guide you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm.

Me and my boyfriend have come here twice. First time was great as the Asian guy working there was lovely and patient with us picking out on our flavors and gave us a coupon to open on valentines. Came back for valentines and the lady working there was sweet and we got our discount! Lovely little ice cream shop. Nothing crazy. Simple and delicious. Too many ice cream shops nowadays that try to be different now.

Google
Amazing ice cream, friendly staff, cozy environment. A hole in the wall, mom and pop shop who's product is made just a few miles away. The waffle cones and cookies are also made in house. (Waffle cones are amazing!) I had the bee's knees and French toast on a waffle cone... spectacular combo! I would have gave them 5 stars if it weren't for the lack of disclosure upon trying the Irish coffee ice cream, it contained and tasted strongly of alcohol. I'm a recovering alcoholic and would have been nice to know that it was mor virgin ice cream.

Google
Nice spot to get an ice cream cone, they’ve got some very interesting and unique flavors. I enjoyed the pumpkin pie scoop, but not the bah bah blackberry. It’s made with either sheep or goat’s milk and it’s just not my thing, so make sure to ask for a sample if you’re unsure of any flavor!

If you ever stop in Carrollton's old downtown area, you should stop at thirs ice cream parlor. The employees are very friendly, the service is great and the ice cream is very good. There is a very good variety of flavors, including some originals. The atmosphere is nice and the prices are reasonable.

Hector

Google
The ice cream was delicious. I had the classic chocolate choice. The ice cream parlor has a wide variety of flavors. Pricing is determined at the end as your cone/ice cream is put on a scale. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Google
This is a quaint little ice cream shop. The staff was friendly and helpful and their selection of ice cream is way beyond what you will find at chain stores. I had the Lemon-Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream. Others in our party had Almond Joy, the Big Rig Peterbuilt (might as well be called the cookie kitchen sink), and the Smore's ice cream. I can't remember everything in the Big Rig flavor, but it sounded amazing. This is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area shopping or after a stop at one of the restaurants downtown.

Yelp
Beth Marie really does have an old fashioned feel to it. It's small and unassuming, but they have some wonderful flavors to offer. Thankfully they offer small samples as I really did not know which one I wanted to go with. Also, be advised that the little displays of the sizes are vastly underestimated. A kids scoop they said was around the size of a golfball. But when I asked for a kid's scoop it was close to twice that. I definitely got way more ice cream than I expected (though I won't complain since it was delicious). The one employee who was working was quiet, but patient and helpful. We were a large group with people ranging from 4 years to 60 years old and everyone got the same level of attention and service. I will note that because the location is so small, I wouldn't plan on eating in. Or even at the one small bench right outside. But luckily they are located right next to a beautiful courtyard area with plenty of places to sit, relax, and enjoy some homemade ice cream. It's a perfect treat for a warm Texas day. Ah, who am I kidding. It was in the 60s when we were there and it still hit the spot!

Yelp
My husband and I stumbled across this ice cream parlor. After exploring downtown Carrolton, this girl needed something sweet! It was close to closing time when we arrived and there was one worker in the front. He was patient with me in deciding which flavors to get. The parlor looked very "old fashion" outside and inside. I love the unique look. After going back and forth, I ended up getting two scoops of mint chocolate in a sugar cone. Yum! My husband got a hot chocolate. He said that it was very chocolatey. There were about a dozen flavors and four sherbets. It was a good number of choices. There was also a contest by the seating area. I thought that was a great way to get the community involved and other restaurants.

Yelp
Each flavor looked better than the last. Generous portions, clean location, & friendly service.

Yelp
Bees nees is our absolute FAVORITE!! It's a lavender and honey type flavor. Slight purple color. We have to get a pint when we come and visit and get to enjoy our ice cream. This location is smaller then the Denton location but same flavor sand best of the best as all locations

Yelp
I love Beth Marie's so much! This is a cute little location off the downtown Carrollton square. They have a ton of yummy options for ice cream and include seasonal flavours too. The staff is so friendly and always in a good mood. I walk over usually once a week for a sweet treat!

Yelp
Came with some friends after dinner in the nearby area. Traffic was steady for a Friday night & it can get a bit crowded. Staff was friendly & allowed us to sample. I finally decided on two big scoops of peanut butter cup with chocolate syrup drizzle. Yum!

Yelp
I was so happy when they put this location here -- it's rich but it's darn good. They have so many flavors. I don't think you can go wrong! I highly recommend it -- the folks that work here seem very friendly and service has been good as have been the prices!

Veronica G.

Yelp
The place smelled so bad. We had ice cream because we had told the kid we'd get some but honestly it was hard to eat there The ice cream was okay but kinda pricey 90 cents per ounce $13.83 for 3 single scoops
google avatar

Jo L.

Yelp
Same delicious flavors as the Denton location! Much smaller location here but the staff was nice and helpful! Great place to grab a cone and chill at the Carrolton old town square.

Yelp
Great little ice cream shop with friendly staff and bonus that they're open late! They have playful and whimsical flavors that get rotated out frequently. You can't go wrong with any of them. Tonight, I needed a pick-me-up so I got the expresso chip. It's Expresso coffee with crunchy chocolate pieces throughout. My brother ordered the Just Peachy and it tastes just like peach rings in ice cream form. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It's a great way to end the night in Downtown Carrollton even if you had a feast at Babe's Chicken next door.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Stopped at Beth Marie's ice cream after a trip to the 3 nations brewery. The ice cream shop is located right next to Babe's and is walkable from the 3 nations brewery. When you walk in, you are greeted with the smell of waffle cones. You can also sample the different flavors before figuring out what you'd like to order. I ordered the mango sorbet in a waffle cone which was well balanced and the cone tasted very fresh.

Yelp
It took me a minute to find it but it was amazing. I'll be back! Make sure to say the last part in an Arnold voice

Yelp
Been a while since I've been inside an old-fashioned ice cream shop. This reminded me of home back in the LA. The hospitality was great the lady was very kind and friendly! My husband tried the "honey whiskey" ... I hope I got that right, he said it was amazing! They have so many different flavors that you will want to try them all! Do yourself a favor and visit especially in this Texas heat!
google avatar

Sharon C.

Yelp
Beth Marie's always has a great selection and unique flavors + you know it's actually made from scratch right there! They also have a variety of cones, they're great about giving samples, and have something for everyone. Well worth it to give them a try.

Yelp
I love ice cream and Beth Marie's is some of the best there is. The people there were also so warm and nice. I got their peanut butter fudge with peanut butter cups in a waffle cone and it was amazing! Very rich and really good. I got one scoop and that was all I needed because each bite was so rich and flavorful. It is a cute place too, especially with all the new fancy stuff around the DFW area, it was fun to go into a more homey neighborhood feel ice cream place. No idea how long it has been around but it feels like it has been generations.

Yelp
food: (5) the honey lavender and mellow moon pie was both great! the tx honey whiskey was also pretty good! honey lavender was definitely more for me and the moon pie was great too. for the whiskey, i'm not a huge drinker, but was curious so i got and i liked it too. great place to get right after twisted root or babes! service: (5/5) the worker, jason was very nice and helpful. he offered many samples and was kind throughout the interaction. everything went well! ambiance: (5/5) small and casual. very old fashion vibes. it's a small store with 2 tables and 4 chairs in total. it's best to get and walk outside the plaza or eat outside!

Yelp
When I only saw one group of customers ahead of me, I was somewhat surprised. Not only was it in the early evening, it was also National Ice Cream Day. Eventually, I discovered the quirks of this location. Unlike the two locations in Denton which I have frequented, this location is very small. There is not much room in front of the display cases for a large group of customers to wait to order. Other a few chairs and a table, the location is not ideal to dine inside. When the temperature is in the triple digits like today, the scoops of ice cream will turn into milkshakes in seconds. Because the entrance is not double-doored, the interior got noticeably warm. The pluses of the location reminded me of the main location. The employees were friendly and; although limited, I did like the variety of flavors offered. Unlike the satellite location in Denton, this location does have a few flavors with a chocolate base.

Yelp
Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream is a small and cozy ice cream parlor in downtown Carrollton. It's bigger sibling of the same name is in Denton, but the same delicious flavors can be found here. Located in the heart of downtown Carrollton's shopping district next to Babe's Chicken, this small shop has more flavors and value than any of the new hyper expensive chains popping up all over DFW. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - It's small - I'll call it cozy. It's also feels like something from the past. While the Denton shop sports a full soda fountain, the Carrollton location only has two small tables. There's a classic Coca-Cola fridge in the corner. But you won't notice any of this because all eyes will be on the ice cream sitting behind the glass case. 1 Star. Service - If it's not busy then I like to sample everything. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also wear aprons and hats. I love this - it adds to the nostalgia and experience. Nothing but great people here. 1 Star. Food - They literally have hundreds of flavors, and they feature about 30 at a time. Many of the unique flavors are in the front like the Elvis (banana, chocolate, bacon) or French Toast. Classics like chocolate, vanilla, or cookies & cream are in the back. I mention this in case you don't think they carry these flavors. Each flavor is unique with different ingredients. My favorites are the Espresso Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, and Peanut Butter & Jelly. They taste exactly like their names. The ice cream is cold creamy, and NOT tricked up. I love Beth Marie's because it's simply high quality ice cream with unique flavors. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I go here every time I visit Carrollton. What I like most about Beth Marie's is that they constantly rotate their flavors and they just make quality ice cream. Uptown and Greenville may have some high dollar cold dessert shops with themes but if you want the best ice cream in DFW you need to come to Carrollton. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

Yelp
Totally delicious! Inexpensive for this quality creamy, fatty base. It was under $4.50 for 3 junior (2 oz) scoops! The employees were so patient and nice even though I was being indecisive and tried 5 flavors. FLAVORS ORDERED: - Texas Doctor. It's supposed to be Dr. Pepper ice cream, but it tastes like a nutty cotton candy. - Old English. Salted toffee mixed into cream base. Yum! - French toast. Tasted like the essence of French Toast Crunch cereal!
google avatar

Ashleigh S.

Yelp
My soul was calling for some cotton candy flavored ice cream and this place did not disappoint! The waffle cone was fresh and delicious as well. The ONLY thing is this place is expennnnnnsive! I haven't paid this much for ice cream in a while, it was kinda too much but it tasted great so if you don't mind that then go for it!
google avatar

Sharon C.

Yelp
Amazing and friendly staff. They offer fresh waffles cones and quality homemade ice cream to fill your sweet tooth. None of their flavors are the traditional vanilla or chocolate. They were each unique - sampling the flavors was an adventure of its own! I ended up ordering a Dark Sunset (dark chocolate chips with orange/citrus ice cream base that reminds me of an orange creamsicle) on one of their fresh waffle cones. It was delicious! They price their ice cream by the oz so you are paying for the amount given so you are never gypped!
google avatar

Tony P.

Yelp
Had ice cream dessert here with family on a Sunday afternoon. Kinda busy with mostly family customers. We ordered Texas Doctor (with taste of Dr Pepper and Mocha Almond. Uniquely made ice cream with unique taste and flavor. Clean and well lighted place. Parking is not a problem in downtown Carrolton. Serving staff is helpful and well mannered. Price is double $$, but it's worth a try.

Yelp
The tollway was shut down to one lane going south yesterday, so we diverted west along Beltline towards Carrollton and I-35. We ended up at Carrollton's Historic Square where not much was stirring in the heat. We saw a new addition to the area, though. Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream. Perfect. Ice Cream! Located just off the Square next to Babes, Beth Marie's makes all of their "ice cream using a machine built in 1927, which produces ten gallons of ice cream in eighteen minutes. Our ice cream is classified "premium quality," containing 14% butterfat." Oh Yes!! There are two other locations in Denton. On the South side of Denton's Historic Square, in a building built in 1876, Beth Marie's original location "has the atmosphere of an old fashioned ice cream soda fountain," according to their website. The Carrollton shop is small and overly warm on this over 100° day. I can feel the heat radiating off the waffle maker as I stand at the register. There are two high tables with chairs; but we decide our plan is to make a quick exit back to our vehicle's air conditioning. The tough part is making any kind of decision. Senior Waitstaff are well informed as to what's in the flavors; but there are so many unique kinds. Beth Marie's actually makes 120 flavors and they do everything imaginable with them for you. Name it. Even junior size scoops for the smaller appetite. All of the ice cream was priced 74 cents/ounce today. I finally decided on two junior size scoops - one each of lemondrop and bees knees (honey and lavender) in a junior waffle cone. My husband had the most amazing chocolate cherry ice cream - literally slabs of chocolate and huge cherries - and some kind of scrumptious chocolate ice cream in a chocolate waffle cone. With tax it all came to a little under $10. I honestly didn't pick up on any lavender in my ice cream; but it didn't matter. It was absolutely delicious. Light and refreshing and very cold, it paired well with the tart lemondrop. Melting and defensive licking commenced and it was a little slice of heaven. I understand Central Market food stores in Texas offer a variety of Beth Marie's homemade ice cream flavors in pint containers, too. I totally recommend this ice cream. If you have to wait long in this shop when it's hot, prepare to be uncomfortable unless they update the air conditioning.

Yelp
The ice cream is great! Customer service.. not so great. My boyfriend and I went in a Saturday afternoon. It's very very small. The girl greeted when we came in.we of course had questions about what was in the ice cream..the names are written on the glass with a marker but you have to ask what is in them because it's "special" ice cream. I didn't look much because she had more customers come in and was crowded. My boyfriend saw her roll her eyes at me after wanting to look more?!

Nate M.

Yelp
Found something in my ice cream! Which freaked me out. Threw the whole thing away Called the store and they said they'd give me a new cone
google avatar

PJ L.

Yelp
Since Babe's doesn't have ice cream for desert this is the perfect ice cream shop for a post chicken filled desert.
google avatar

Yolanda H.

Yelp
Had very interesting flavors. I would have liked to have seen a few more traditional flavors in the freezer. I am an old school fan of Beth Marie's in Denton.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Cool old school ice cream shop in downtown Carrollton. One of few places I have found that still make the old fashioned ice cream sodas. Check it out!!
google avatar

Skyler H.

Yelp
Ice cream and shakes were great. Counter girls customer service was not by any means. She would not take her ear pods out and was rude.
google avatar

Isabel J.

Yelp
This review is based on the ice cream alone. Ordered the Cupcake and Bees Nees flavor via UberEats. Both flavors are incredibly creamy and delicious! The star was the Bees Nees. Similar taste/texture of a Green Tea ice cream. Will definitely try the other flavors!

Sierra W.

Yelp
Ice cream was great & they have so many flavors available! Plus customer service was wonderful! This was our first time visiting since we don't live in the area, & both ladies working were so helpful & patient while we decided & asked them lots of questions! We'd love to come back if we're in the area again.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little shop on Main St. Great after eating Babe's Chicken next door. My favorite flavor is Cinnful Oats! Friendly employees~
google avatar

Leah P.

Yelp
Update: i thought i posted this a couple of months ago. Staff is hit or miss. Today we went and i asked for a hot fudge Sundae with the hot fudge on top instead of on the side of the cup. The young girl that was working acted like i offended her and said she wouldn't because that's how their make our Sundaes. I said ok weird because i asked for it once before and made it. Her tone and at just rude. I said you know just let me just have have a scoop in a cone. She seemed to have a hard time hearing me and when i looked up i noticed she had her ear pods in. When we got our waffle cones the cones tasted stale. Our experiences have very inconsistent and it feels like it's just not worth taking a chance any more.

Yelp
A quick stop for icecream if you're in the area! A small shop with a decent number of flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I had a dinner date in Denton and were looking for something sweet in the area. Beth Marie's was the right choice! It has a wonderful location right on the Square, which made for a lovely walk from the restaurant. Right as you step in, you feel as though you've entered a movie scene. The style is like a 1950's soda/ice cream bar, which makes for a really cool eating experience! The area was crisp and clean, unlike most ice cream shops with their sticky floors and questionable stains. They had dozens of flavors, all made in house. The staff were super friendly, and we never felt rushed as we each asked for 4-5 samples, even as a line was forming behind us (sorry to all those folks, but I needed to make the right choice!). My wife got the Almond Joy in a cone, and I got a bowl with two things I can't remember (one of them was like a moonpie, and the other was made with Dr. Pepper). Yall, the ice cream was delicious! AND, it wasn't expensive. All in all we paid around $8. I will be returning, Lord willing!

Kelsie B.

Yelp
Pretty dirty and tiny. Nothing to write home about. It's time for a new coat of paint and a deep clean. The girls inside weren't helpful what so ever. Skip this location and drive to Denton. Also there was a dead cockroach right as we were walking in...just delicious.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
Really nice people and SO many flavors! They close a little early which is a bummer but if your able to catch them before they close I would recommend!

Mary T.

Yelp
Yummy and unique flavors, smooth consistency, employees were so sweet and let me try a many flavors as I wanted.... highly recommend!
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
Cute little old fashioned ice cream shop. Employees are super friendly. I would give 5 stars if their ice cream portions weren't so small!
google avatar

Kurt V.

Yelp
I have been a huge fan of Beth Marie's in Denton for years and when they opened a store a lot closer to me on the Old Downtown Carrollton Square, I was very excited to try them to see if they could replicate the Denton experience for me. Guess what, they do a pretty good job! The Carrollton location is not as big as the Denton location, but they certainly are as good as the mother ship. I have a couple of favorites. Courthouse Pecan is my favorite for a cone, and then I also like their cobbler (available in Apple, Peach, Cherry & Blackberry). But if you get the cobbler, you HAVE to add a scoop of Vanilla for good measure!
google avatar

Yvonne G.

Yelp
Cute little ice cream spot in downtown Carrollton. I stopped in after eating at Babe's, it's right next door. I got two scoops Chunky Monkey & Jamoca Chocolate.
google avatar

Ali B.

Yelp
The Staff is friendly and helpful. Which is a must for an ice cream shop! We all know we want to pick the very best one. ...the decision is hard. They were patient through the process. However, there is a sample option of 3 small scoops of different kinds. What what!? My taste buds, mind, and cravings were saved! ..and then the ice cream ofcourse was awesome. So many different options. I'll go back anytime!

Joseph M.

Yelp
Nice little old fashion I've cream spot decently priced. Good place to check out . Really enjoyed the quality
google avatar

Sunny C.

Yelp
I don't know anything about the friendly staff or the ice cream. My husband and I walked in this afternoon to order some (with our masks on mind you) and instead of being greeted we were told "they were here before you" as if I were cutting in line. I told the young lady I wanted to check out the flavors before ordering. She made some ridiculous excuse about social distancing so I said no thank you and walked out. I will not be returning. I'm not going to give anyone Covid by checking out your ice cream flavors, relax. VERY RUDE
google avatar

Adrienne P.

Yelp
It's amazing that this place is still standing during COVID. The ice cream here is not worth the exorbitant amount you pay for questionably sanitary and incredibly rude service. I wasted my energy driving and walking into this store. If you're deciding on a place to go for ice cream, please go anywhere else but here. You'll be better off for it.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
Showed up at about 9:45, their hours EVERYWHERE say they close at 10, yet they were completely closed when we showed up. Don't put hours everywhere if you're not going to stay open until then.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Many different flavors (your typical and not so typical) and located in the heart of the historic Downtown Carrollton. This place priced at $0.72 an ounce-- not by regular scoops. You can sample all the flavors you would like and the workers are very friendly! I ended up getting the Bees Nees (lavender and local honey) and it was delicious! I would highly recommend this place after eating next door at Babe's!
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
My Grandkids love this place. Friendly staff. Ice cream is really good. I'd like to try more flavors.
google avatar

Sylvia P.

Yelp
Jameson whiskey ice cream do I need to say more?! cool small town vibe. Walk the town for guilt free indulgence!
