The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Bethesda | Eater DC

"If you are hankering for New York-style bagels, you’ve come to the right place. This family-owned Bethesda staple since 1982 continues to crank out hand-rolled everything, onion, salt, blueberry, cinnamon raisin, wheat, pumpernickel bagels. There’s always a line here in the morning, but that gives you time to pursue the cold cases and check out the other offerings from the chopped liver (there’s even a vegan version), whitefish spreads, herring and a seemingly endless array of cream cheeses from chive, lox, veggie, to blueberry and strawberry to name just a few. They also make Flagels, flat bagels, and mini-bagels for those interested in fewer carbs." - Claudia Rosenbaum

Where to Eat and Drink in Bethesda - Eater DC

"Credit goes to this shop for upping the area’s bagel credibility. The brand has since expanded across state lines to D.C. and Virginia, but the Bethesda original remains largely unchanged. Find dozens of bagel varieties with lox, cream cheese spreads, or as savory sandwiches." - Tim Ebner

First time trying a bagel at this place but will definitely be the last one. Asked for a bagel with little bit of butter. Had to wait 10min to get it! The attitude of the people there is unbelievable. They don’t care about customer service. No one apologized. In the back everybody was chatting/joking with a big line of customers waiting. When I got to my car, I realized the bagel was soaking in butter!! I had to use napkins to absorb all of the butter! This place is not worth it at all.

Best New Jersey-quality bagel sandwiches one can find in the area, truly. 🥯Bagels - Large and fluffy with a crunchy outside. The ideal bagel. Very fair pricing (for the area) for a dozen bagels. 🧈Spreads - Both the regular cream cheese spread and chive spread tubs are reasonably priced (for the area) and are rich/creamy. I definitely recommend taking a tub for your fridge. 🐷Bagel sandwiches - The Taylor Ham needs to be cooked longer. It’s always too undercooked. Bagel enthusiasts are looking for crisped edges, not a raw slab of pork. Egg portions are heavy. For TOASTED bagel sandwiches, the bagel needs to be toasted. Everytime I've ordered a THE&C-SP (toasted), the bagel is only warmed. (-1🌟) 🧑🏼‍🍳Service/Speed - The staff are very friendly and even when there’s a line out the door, they still manage to get through everyone pretty quickly. They tend to run out of whole-wheat everything bagels often though, fyi OVERALL, great place to grab a bagel, some spreads, or a bagel sandwich. For many, the lightly toasted bagel and undercooked TH is forgivable, for me, it's a B+ in bagel deli 101

Great place for breakfast or lunch! I always place my order beforehand and it’s usually ready in 10 mins.

We walked from our hotel and found this bagel shop that was hopping on a Saturday morning at 830am. The bagels were huge and dense. We ordered breakfast sandwiches with sausage egg and cheese. They were the best sandwiches I've had in a while. We also ordered bagel dogs for lunch later and they were very tasty as well. I ordered several bagels to take home for our dinner back to PA. So tasty!!

Bagels were fresh and delicious. Ordered Everything Bagels with tomato and a side of whitefish salad. Grew up eating "water" bagels in NJ and these bagels we just right in taste and texture.

Biggest egg sandwich I’ve ever had! Creative bagel and cream cheese flavors. Bagels had the perfect amount of NJ chew

It is worth waiting in line to get these bagels. Doubly so if you've done a 20m bike ride. Looks like you can also order ahead of time though to cut down the waiting time. I can recommend the Steak n Cheese, but the Everything Bagel is probably the most popular (will try it next time around).

How bagels are supposed to taste. I love everything about this place! Can’t go wrong with any smear or sandwich. Very generous with toppings and reasonably priced.
