Seattle’s Best Restaurants That Are Open Late at Night | Eater Seattle

"For many, a quality bowl of ramen is the food of choice after a night out. That said, Betsutenjin serves up some of the best Hakata-style ramen in the city, and they’re open until the specific time of 1:15 a.m. every night. While the rich, flavorful bone broth is a must, the gyozas and lobster salad are tasty complements. Seating is limited, so be prepared for a wait." - Harry Cheadle

Really cool atmosphere and service was great. The ramen wasn't my favorite style as it was a little on the sweeter side but I still enjoyed my meal. Would recommend trying it out, probably much more vibey later in the night if you're looking for a drink.

Google
We love this place. Been here half a dozen times & NEVER disappointed. Savory ramen. Succulent pork. Mouthwatering broth… 😋 …Oh, Man—where was I? Oh, that’s right—in RAMEN HEAVEN. We love that they have Japanese TV playing on the wall. Adds to the authenticity of the down-to-earth decor; straight forward, comfortably worn—like visiting some cozy family spot in a small corner of Fukuoka or something Relax and enjoy an excellent sake pairing with your meal Do yourself a favor & visit this place *Recommended* 👌

Google
The quality is pretty bad, compared to 3 or 2 years. Very watery and bland. It’s pretty pricy compared to other ramens in Seattle. They also removed the curtains and private seating, and added lots of table, to stuff as many people in as possible. The private curtain seating was something that makes them stand out in Seattle. And it took a while to pay, we overheard the people next to us were waiting for over 20 mins. Honestly would not come back.

Google
It's a small place so staff seem to rush you as soon as you are done eating, which is understandable. There were no places to put the coat or bag down. The broth was good, but the toppings were a little bit disappointing. Meat was also too chewy and prawns were small shrimps.

Google
Probably the closest to authentic ramen I’ve had. Overall it was very delicious. I attempted to eat half and save the rest for later, but ended up finishing at 10 minutes later. The broth was very flavorful and I like the smaller noodle size. Wasn’t expecting the shrimp to be so small in my Ramen, but it was still good. It was packed when we got there, so we decided to take our food to go. A little on the pricey side.

Google
I feel like I'm being punkd? The atmosphere, service, and reviews for this hole in the wall izakaya are all fantastic. Hakata style ramen (thin noodles, thick and rich tonkotsu broth) is my hands down favorite ramen, and this spot was so disappointing. The noodles were okay, but the broth was SO thin and tasteless. I am genuinely grieving and wondering if Saturday night was "end of the pot" broth? But in that case wouldn't it be thick, at least? The ajitama (seasoned egg) was hardly seasoned (maybe a quick marinade?) and added no flavor. The gyoza was stale. I was really looking forward to this spot but I genuinely don't think I'd give it a second try, it was that wrong. I am sad.

Google
Whoa, this place is so easy to miss, but definitely don’t miss out!! Once I stepped in, I felt like I was transported to a small ramen shop in Japan. The vibe is immaculate and ramen is so good. The combos were a good way to try multiple items in their menu. I got the shrimp special and lobster salad. I dream of the next time I can eat here again 🤤

Google
This place offers a solid ramen experience. We tried the Tonkotsu and seafood ramen, and both were delicious. The broths were well-balanced, not too overpowering, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. The side dishes also impressed—both the lobster salad and gyoza were flavorful. The service was friendly and excellent, making the experience even better. Overall, a great spot for a satisfying bowl of ramen!

Yelp
Solid ramen spot but honestly the main perk is their hours. When you're craving ramen at midnight or needing some sustenance after a night out, Betsutenjin is available to help out. However, during normal hours, I wouldn't necessarily say the ramen here is levels above other options. Simple menu with two main ramens and sides so you can be confident they're specialized and consistent. Combos come with an egg and the option of lobster salad or gyoza, both smaller than their side order counterparts. We were not charged a service fee as a party of 5 and they scratched it off on the receipt. Seems like it may have been a default fee in the past but not anymore. Double check so you can tip accordingly! Prawn Miso Ramen - I was expecting some bigger prawns but they top off the ramen with dried prawns for taste. One would consider this addition more umami like. While flavorful, the prawns are simply too small to leave much of an impact beyond a few bites. After two or three, the ramen defaults to their Hakata style. Anyways, pork broth was rich and noodles were delightful. Pork was tender and fatty. I would recommend defaulting to their classic Hakata though because the prawn part feels more gimmicky.

Yelp
You know the food will be good when the menu is small - and this definitely holds true for Betsu Ten Jin. Coming into a hole-in-the-wall spot on a weeknight at dinnertime, the restaurant was unsurprisingly empty. No complaints there as the interior is quite small and cozy. The service was quick, attentive, and friendly. Our food came not too long after ordering; after starting our meal with crispy, juicy gyoza, I was surprised with the quality of the ramen I was served here. The broth is light yet flavorful, with a healthy serving of meat and other ramen toppings. I also loved how our table was equipped with an array of condiments and add-ons to personalize my soup. I'm typically not the biggest fan of ramen, but this place has changed my mind. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I came here for dinner after landing in Seattle and I loved how it was one of the few spots that are open late. We came around 11pm and they seemed pretty packed inside, but we didn't wait longer than 15 minutes for a seat. We were seated at the bar area and I ordered gyoza and a hakata style ramen. The food was delicious and it was absolutely the best choice after landing into Seattle on a cold night. The gyoza was crispy yet juicy and the ramen was so flavorful and filling. The prices aren't too bad either and the staff was so friendly while working quickly. I'd definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for late night ramen.

Yelp
Come on a weekday after work and there was a short line. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the toppings are fresh and generously portioned

Yelp
Stopped by for a late-night ramen splurge at Betsu Ten Jin. Immediately from the very minimal branded entrance to the inside, I felt like I got transported into a small alley in Japan. The space inside is small but the feel is very reminiscent of my time in Japan. The menu is compact and straight to the point with them only serving either a pork bone broth or miso broth. They make a disclaimer about their pork soup having no MSG or milk products which I thought was very interesting and respectable. I got the Hakata Style Ramen which comes with their pork broth. The Hakata style mainly references the style of noodle which is a really thin version (think Ichiran if you've been to Japan). The meat, noodles, and the accompaniments were nice and had good taste to them. The broth is probably one of the lightest pork broths I've ever had. I wouldn't say it's not good, but rather it's not my preference. If you are looking for a very deep tonkotsu flavor then this isn't going to be the place. My gf really liked this broth because of the fact that it was very light. While I still enjoyed the bowl, it's ultimately a matter of preference and so when I want tonkotsu, I really want that super rich/umami flavor that this bowl isn't geared towards.

Yelp
I've been to Betsu Ten Jin a handful of times and each time has been a spectacular experience. Each time there I've aimed to be there at opening because there is ALWAYS a line, without fail. Be prepared and don't say no one warned you. Service is quick and attentive. Not rather personable, but they serve up some damn good food so do we really need any small talk? No. Betsu Ten Jin is extremely cozy. I think I remember them saying the largest table they could seat was a group of four, and there was maybe a couple of those, along with counter top/bar style seating for people who didn't mind sitting next to each other (rather than across). TLDR; come here to eat, not to mingle. I got the Hakata Style Ramen, which is their specialty, and it's some of the best ramen I've tried. Extremely flavorful, and the cuts of pork were extremely succulent and cooked to perfection. I also added an egg for topping which was delicious. I'm not up in the area often unless I'm here for work so I don't usually have time to stop, but I'm glad there's been a few times I've been able to come in. 100% worth it, especially coming up on these cooler fall days!

Yelp
Solid 4 star meal. What I love about this place is their no nonsense limited menu, ensuring that what they have is great. I had the hakata ramen combo for $21, which came with the base ramen bowl ($16) with the addition of a whole egg ($2.25) and a side of either gyoza or lobster salad ($7). I chose the lobster salad which was absolutely delicious wrapped in seaweed. The ramen itself had one of the best broths I've ever had. The shortfalls are that the noodles are just okay (they are thiner noodles, letting the texture down a bit) and the egg came whole instead of cut in half which was a little hard to eat. These might be preference things for me but they were enough to take away from my "perfect" 5 star bowl. Portions were on the smaller side, so getting the combo to supplement is a good choice. Service was great, quick, friendly, and casual.

Yelp
Betsu Ten Jin is a solid spot for ramen and it's late night hours are a huge plus. The restaurant is very small (probably ~20-25 seats), but I went for dinner around 6:30 PM on a weekday and they were never more than 60% capacity the entire time I was there. Pricing was about what you would expect for ramen and the serving size is pretty average. Overall, I still think Ramen Danbo is best in town, but this place seems to be more under the radar and if you don't want to wait in their slow moving line, this is a lovely consolation prize. Hakata Ramen (4/5): Milky, super porky broth that is insanely rich. Char siu is lovely, nice bit of char outside and super fatty. Noodles were chewy enough that I wasn't disappointed, but I also wasn't blown away, which is also a good summary of how I felt about this place.

Katelynn F.

Yelp
For a late night food run this place is the best you can get, place was closing early at 12 instead of 1am like it's listed in the description though. Very popular place as people kept coming in, felt like I was in a real little ramen shop. Service was fast, beer was enjoyable. Would come again if I am in need of a warm filling meal late at night.

Yelp
The Ramen soup is just so fantastic here! The menu isn't exactly vast but what you got to pick from doesn't disappoint in the slightest! The ingredients are super fresh and the flavor of the soup is completely infectious. Perfect to come in on a cold, rainy day but be warned there could be a line. We squeezed in and while no wait developed after we left it is very prone to getting that way. In addition to the soup we had some fantastic gyoza to serve as an appetizer. Definitely worth going to and something you won't want to miss out on if you want some excellent and authentic Ramen soup!

Yelp
So good. If you're a UW student trying to figure out where to grab late night food with friends. Enjoy a bus ride and try this place. Very cozy spot and reasonable prices for the portions.

Yelp
Delicious ramen like eating late. Igor in Tokyo. Would like the broth hotter.... Overall still fan of great late night ramen eatery. Server was very friendly, seating me quickly for ONE! Had a corner seat looking at everyone eating. Albeit, I'm Ok being communal bar seating area. Like they have lots of condiments at table side to add even more umami flavors to ramen. Ie.. fried garlic chips, raw garlic, ginger; and more. Too bad their pay system doesn't allow to tip. Need to bring CasH next time if i want to tip. remind me to get my broth HOTTER next time! I'm still a FaN!

Yelp
Great service, amazing crispy gyoza and it reminds me of the little 'hole in the wall' ramen shops I'd go to when I was stationed in Japan.
google avatar

Yelp
Yum!! Tried the prawn tonkotsu broth ramen set with gyoza. Service was friendly and the vibe was casual and very Japanese. The soup was packed with umami and the noodles were perfectly cooked. I'm not even big on tonkotsu ramen, but it was not too heavy and the flavor was right! Definitely would recommend especially to satisfy a late night craving!

Yelp
I hate to give a small restaurant business 1 star, but Betsutenjin is the worst ramen I've ever had. The broth tastes like flavored water - it's significantly missing flavor development from the broth and a tare element from most ramen bowls. The broth was also a little cold. To make matters worse, a bowl of ramen will set you back about $20 - it's pricey. They have a lot of seasonings and toppings at each table to add to your ramen and a long message about how they make the ramen base plus how to season your bowl, but this is not going to help with developing complexity of flavor. I'm all for light broth and simple flavors, but there still needs to be flavor. The restaurant is tiny, so there's not a lot of seating space and you'll have to wait a long time for a table.

Yelp
After being turned away from another ramen shop, I was concerned that we would not be able to find my toddler his beloved ramen noodles - most of the shops we frequent close at 9 or 9:30. We had never been to Betsu Ten Jin before tonight but my husband saw that they were open late so we decided to give them a try. I'm so glad that we did. This shop is small - reminiscent of shops in Japan. They appeared to only have 3 people working but they were very efficient - quickly moving through customers (the restaurant was about full when we left). The menu is very limited but we were happy with all ordered dishes. I ordered the hakata style ramen and gyoza combo and found the broth, in particular, was excellent (I usually don't finish it after my noodles are gone but I made an exception tonight). The gyoza was perfect - slightly crispy on the edges but soft in the middle just as I like it. My son happily feasted on his noodles. We were in and out in ~35 minutes in spite of the small crew working. Overall, a great experience. If we need late night ramen in the future, we'll know where to go!

Yelp
Was very yummy! I tried the prawn miso ramen and it was the perfect dish for this rainy weather! Would come again. There are only two ramens on the menu, either the prawn miso and hakata style ramen. The service was relatively fast. The restaurant is on the smaller side. There is a bar and a few tables. Dark/dim lighting in the restaurant. Came on a Monday at 5:30 and there was no one there as they just opened, but they didn't seat us until 5:40 as they were still opening/setting up.

Yelp
We came here for dinner after stumbling upon it a few days back. The shop is small, but we were able to get seated immediately. I took the limited menu as a positive sign, since that must mean they do those items really well. However, I was disappointed with the food. + Hakata Style Ramen: There was nothing special about this bowl of ramen. The broth was lacking in flavor and richness. It felt almost watered down since the porky rich flavor was missing. (2/5) + Prawn Miso Ramen: This bowl was much tastier than the Hakata Style Ramen due to the addition of miso, but still it was nothing special. It was topped with pieces of small dried prawns, but it did absolutely nothing for the dish. (3/5) Overall, this is not a place I would go back to. The noodles were cooked well and the chashu was very tasty, but the flavorless broth ruined the experience.
google avatar

Madison T.

Yelp
Great place to eat late at night. I came in and the server was full of energy. I ordered the Hakata Style Ramen set with the lobster salad and they gave the gyoza on the house. The lobster salad was my favorite. The ramen had a very clean taste. I prefer stronger flavors but there were plenty of condiments if you want to dress up the ramen more. Overall I had a great experience and would come back again!

Yelp
My friend and I planned to grab dinner in Cap. Hill before he moved out of Seattle to NYC. We planned to grab ramen from a different ramen shop in Cap. Hill originally, but that was about a 1.5hr wait until we could get seated. Since we were both starving, we decided to walk around to look for other options that didn't have as long of a wait time. We finally decided on Betsu Ten Jin since we both have never been to this place and the wait wasn't too terribly long. It was 20-30minutes. The restaurant was too small to have people wait indoors, so everyone had to wait outside until a table was ready for each party. This is a good place to come in small groups of 4 people or less. The less the better. It is definitely catered to smaller, intimate group interactions. Each seating area is sectioned off with a curtain, so once all of the food/drinks arrive at your table, the curtain is closed for you to eat. FYI you pay before you are seated at your table.

Yelp
This was a great meal to end our night after going to the bars and clubs. Menu was limited, but I didn't mind it. The service was good. We received our meal at a good time. We didn't have to wait too long to get seated or served. It's a nice restaurant to bring a date for ramen. The food hit the spot and we finished everything! Price was also decent. We would return here again because we didn't even wake up with a hangover!
google avatar

Aurora A.

Yelp
This place blew my mind! The place is super small. Not good for big groups no more than four people. It gets packed fast, but worth any wait. We came on a Saturday and waited less than 15 mins. Don't expect the waitstaff to be attentive to you, if you need something flag them down. It gets busy. I felt transported to Japan , very traditional vibe. The menu is pretty small but omg amazing! Three different broths and just goza as a side. That's it. But everything was a 10/10. They do their broth with just pork bones and water and It is sooooo creamy. 10/10. I couldn't get enough. They have thin noodles and give you a good portion. The broth is the star of the night.
google avatar

Scotty L.

Yelp
Great local ramen shop leaving you wanting more. Food 5/5 Hakata style ramen + lobster salad -- very light broth with fresh thing noodles. There are spices on the table to season the ramen to your desired spice and sodium level. The pickled garlic is really great! They have some Japanese beers beyond the typical Asahi or Sapporo. Service 5/5 Quick service, just like you'd expect from a small ramen shop where they specialize in just one dish -- ramen. Ambiance 5/5 Felt like a very authentic Japanese ramen shop - they even had Japanese news playing on the tv. Great for smaller parties of 4 or less or even for grabbing a bite by yourself.

Yelp
It is with a heavy heart I write this review. Its really a 3 star now, but because it used to be a 5 star for me and all the experiences before, the tremendous negative changes amplify the difference. First, the noodles, they are not the same type. Now they are the crinkly top ramen style noodles which I will only accept when I'm actually eating top ramen from the package. Sigh. Next, the broth, still decent, but not nearly as flavorful as it used to be. Either less time is being taken to cook it, or less pork is being used in the broth. Sigh. No more sprouts! The spicy sprouts were the bizness! Now they are gone, you still have the other condiments like garlic, ginger, chili oil and flakes etc. But the sprouts were a huge reason we came here. BIG SIGH. The staff, they were all new. I had to repeat my order twice and then it still came to us wrong. Its fine, not a huge deal, noone is perfect, but this just made the whole experience worse. They were friendly and attentive, just too junior. The ambiance was same, nice mom and pop feel, ramen bar, japanese prints on the walls, japanese music, all good and same. We haven't been here in maybe a year, and when we arrived there was no wait like there used to be. I see why now. Hope they get their mojo back.

Yelp
If you're looking for a broth that's packed with flavor, creamy, and doesn't feel too heavy, this is a great place to come and try! My husband and I decided to try this spot on a Friday night around 6pm. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we easily got seating at their counter. (They also have some tables as well). It has a casual ramen shop atmosphere. The menu itself is pretty limited but we were fine with our options. They are known for their Hakata Style Pork bone broth and they advertise that they don't add MSG or use milk and that it's purely made from the pork bones. I got their Hakata-style ramen set with the lobster salad and it was delicious! Lobster salad was really tasty and unique and I enjoyed the nori they gave with it. The ramen noodles were perfectly cooked, flavor of the broth was tasty and this was one of the only times where I've finished the entire ramen bowl, broth and all! My husband got their Prawn Miso ramen set with lobster salad and he really enjoyed his meal as well. Overall, I will definitely be coming back when the ramen craving hits! It's my favorite spot for haktata-style ramen!
google avatar

Christine E.

Yelp
Betsu Ten Jin, your broth is 10/10 in all of its milky pork bone broth glory. From the moment you walk in from outside, you feel as if you've stepped into a ramen house in Japan. The menu is simple with a list of house special. I went with the traditional Hakkata style ramen with the perfectly cooked melt in your mouth cha-siu pork. Added a soft boiled egg (which was marinated and cooked to perfection.) It is not pictured because it was devoured. The broth is silky, milky, and everything you would want in a ramen broth period. Not too salty, as Goldilocks would have said, "Just right." There is a tray of garlic crisps, fresh ginger, grated garlic, soy, spices, and chili oil to elevate your ramen to your preference and raise it up to its highest potential. The noodles are thinly sliced, fresh, and cooked al dente with the perfect chewy texture. Don't even think about it. It's a MUST GO!

Yelp
We always come up to Seattle to eat; everywhere we have tried is delicious! We were hankering for ramen so decided to try this new ramen joint, headed out at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Luckily no wait as we got there at 8, ordered the Hakata Style Ramen Set mine with Lobster Salad and my partner D ordered the same ramen set but with gyoza. Everything was fresh and delicious, esp the Hakata pork bone broth was really tasty and flavorful. No complains about the noodles either what surprised me away was the lobster salad - it did have chunks of lobster meat. Everything also was better wrapped in nori . May come back here but there are just too many other ramen places to try!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
I got the Hakata ramen; fiance got the Miso ramen. Both have amazing, standout broth with the option to add more sauces to amp up the flavor if needed. One thing to note is you have to pay an extra $3 ish for an egg. If you opt to get the set, the egg comes with it and you can choose between the gyoza and lobster salad. We got the lobster salad and it was delicious! We came at midnight on a Fri night and it was really busy with about a 10 min wait. At the end of the meal, we were asked to tip with cash. A little pricey and lacking on the service, but overall had a great meal and would return!

Yelp
I've been to Betsu many times and their food, especially ramen and lobster salad, is great. This review is, however, about the service on our last visit which was late at night on Friday, September 6th. When we entered, the bar was mostly full with two spaces left as well as one empty table. We asked if we could be seated on the table instead, considering there was no line. The older waitress sat us on the table but was immediately hostile and made passive aggressive remarks because we preferred to choose to sit at the table. Our table also didn't have anything and she ignored our table the entire time we were there, so we had to ask other guests for our chopsticks, napkins, and sauces. She must have known how badly she treated us as she overcompensated by being extra nice to other guests and giving them free drinks, which made the situation even worse. Overall the food was fine as usual, but it was the first time I felt very uncomfortable eating in a restaurant. We likely won't be coming back.
google avatar

Timothy L.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite spot for ramen in Seattle but the quality is definitely not where it used to be. My go to here used to be the hakata ramen because the broth was super rich and milky. When I came back here the other night, while the taste was still somewhat there, the broth was much more watered down and bland compared to before. However, I still appreciate the decor inside. The service could have been better; I ordered a set with gyoza however the gyoza never came out.
google avatar

Jordan O.

Yelp
This menu has 2 mains. Super simple, either pork broth or prawn miso. Love the simplicity. They also have 2 sides. Gyoza or lobster salad. We tried all 4. The gyoza was delicious and didnt taste frozen which is a plus, lobster salad was soo good with hearty chunks of meat which paired well with the nori sheets. But the star of the show was the ramen broths. The pork was great, strong flavor, and the prawn miso was equally good. About halfway through decided to use the condiments provided (garlic, pepper, chili oil and shoyu). It is CRAZY, the difference a little of each did. It was like I was eating a completely different bowl of ramen which elevated the flavor. I would say Top 2 ramens I've had in Downtown Seattle.

Yelp
I ate here last night & my hakata style ramen was so yummy! But it gave me the worst food poisoning I've ever experienced. Only leaving a review because the phone number listed doesn't work.
google avatar

Ash S.

Yelp
The broth! Incredible depth of flavor. Our favorite ramen spot. Usually we both go with the classic but sometimes we'll mix in the prawn broth for a change of pace. We have never been disappointed and this is our go to spot for ramen when it's just us or a small group.

Yelp
Breaks my heart that they removed the booths... I'm not sure what happened, but this place used to be my favorite. I miss how the music used to be as well. They changed it to k-pop. Service staff were kind, but I do miss the environment where you would walk up and order. It made it a lot more authentic. The food still is delicious as always :)
google avatar

Yelp
Okay I was a little harsh with my review last time. It's definitely a Seattle 5 stars. If I had a friend coming in I would recommend them to go here as one of the best. It is yummy and you do get to customize as you see fit. You can get the full Japanese experience of sitting at the bar in a small restaurant with a good bowl of noodle soup. It hits the spot but just pricier than I would like.
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
Don't let the long, sobby negative Yelp Elite reviews dissuade you! This place isn't flamboyant, trying too hard, or over complicated with flavors. It is very similar to a ramen place that you would find if you were really in Japan. With a very small and simple menu and extremely friendly host/staff, the ramen hit the spot on a cold and late Friday night out. The food came out quickly and there are many side items you can add to your dish to make it your own if you want; dried garlic, crushed garlic, soy sauce, etc. It was delicious and I can't wait to go again and support this small business.

Yelp
The ramen is one of best I have had outside of Asia as they do not skimp on how their tonkatsu is made. The waitress is freaking amazing, practical yet humorous! The restaurant is tiny and resembles a ramen bar from Japan, and I'll need to sit at the bar next time. I'll be a regular here, this was how restaurants felt like in Asia, small mom and pop shop that really is serving their family recipe. (Should've taken some pictures. I was catching up with an old friend whom I haven't seen in years.)

Yelp
Came in for dinner, and to my surprise, no wait! Pre-COVID, Betsutenjin always had a pretty long line. With the pandemic, they have now sectioned off seating with curtains/wooden boards for a more private meal. We ordered the hakata style ramen combo, which comes with the works on the toppings, and your choice of gyoza or lobster salad. Betsutenjin has a heavier broth compared to other places, but still very clean and smooth. The ramen is pricier than other places, but still a great change-up! Service was average. Parking is difficult in cap, so be prepared to budget some time during peak hours, or walk a few blocks. Follow the adventure @shoyuthebest on IG!

Yelp
Good ramen is one that isn't necessarily good in the moment, but lives rent free in your mind. If we're talking about quality ramen, these bowls are crafted to PERFECTION. The base is not heavy, it's drinkable, and portioned just right. They don't have msg or milk in their broth, which I think limits its true potential, but wholesome ingredients are always great. The portion is just right, right down to the last string of noodle. How do they do it?? I am not big on pork slices and often skip it in ramen, BUT their pork is actually to die for -- brilliantly smoked, melts in mouth. I prefer to be able to select the thickness and softness of my noodles, which is not the case here. But if a restaurant only serves two items, you know it's authentic and customization is not needed. Literally two types of ramen (Hataka or prawn miso, or whatever is in season) and two types of sides (gyoza or lobster salad). The lobster salad has a nice kick of wasabi in it and is served with a lot of nori! If you want to feel like you're in Japan, this is as close as it gets. You order first, then take a private booth with curtain. There's only 6 tables so it's always busy. I don't know if the quality is always consistent here, but if anyone has something negative to say about this place they've probably never been to Japan.

Yelp
Use to be my go to spot for ramen, but ever since they remodeled, the broth is not as good any more. Use to be private Japanese style setting with individual little booth, and you order at the door before you sit down. But now they took out the booth and increased the price. The broth is not as tasty and the meat slices are much thinner than before.

Yelp
Before I start on the review, I was very much looking forward for a new ramen joint in Seattle that I could replace my usual spot. And to be honest, I was expecting this spot to be the one. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU, WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU. Anyways, onto the review... Me and my friend arrived a little later than usual, as we were looking around for our ramen joint, we put our names down expecting to wait at least 1 hour as we saw the size of the restaurant. It was going to be a busy weekend, and we knew what we were getting ourselves into, so we decided to go down the street to walk around Capitol Hill for a bit before the dinner. We tried to waste some time before they come get us. By the time we came back it has already been 45 minutes, and we knew it was going to come up soon. I walked into the restaurant to look at our names and it was next. We stood around, and waited for a bit longer. But one thing we were not expecting was waiting for another 45 minutes after that.... I of course talked to the person doing the seating, said that we've waited for a while now, can we sit soon? And of course he gives me a look up and down and then said soon. That's fine, I walked off and waited for a bit more. We were seated after a little wait and then we were seated by the bar. By the time I walked in I loved the atmosphere. The music playing were just anime OPs and a lot of YOASOBI, the vibe was emmaculate. And on top of that, you can smell delicious broth waft through out the resturant, this was exactly what I wanted from a ramen joint. My party and I knew exactly what we wanted and ordered quickly so we can eat, by then I was famished. I ordered the Prawn Miso Ramen and my friends got the regular Hakka Ramen. And my friend and I saw the BOGO beers so we got that too. I know we came a little bit late for the day, so I knew we were not going to get the Lobster Salad, little sad about that. Anyways, we waited for a bit, vibed out to the amazing music in the restaurant and took in all the smells and the amazing ambience of the restaurant. My friend's ramen arrived, the 2 Hakka Ramen but my ramen didn't arrive.... Of all people though, the only person who was going to review the restaurant.... and on top of that write about the experience.... And they forgot about the beers at the same time. We had to wave down the waiter to get the beers. I had to wait another 20 minutes for my ramen at that point.... and my friends had already finished their ramen, and my friend ordered an additional portion for their ramen. At the time my ramen came, I was starving, a little bit hangry was needing substances.... I took the first sip of the broth and it was good, just a little bit colder than most ramen I have, and then I took a bite of ramen, and it was aldante and not cooked properly. I know they rushed my portion of ramen, because the cooks totally forgot, and that's okay, but at least PLEASE COOK MY RAMEN PROPERLY. At that moment, I really was not satisfied at all. I was angry, I was livid, and of course I would not yell at them for anything because I would just write them a review instead. I asked my friend, did their additional portion of ramen cooked properly, he said no. Both of his ramen portion and mine came at the same time, and comparing his first bite to the additional portion, it was not cooked properly. I am extremely fair with a lot of my reviews, I am easily pleased with food, but this was just not it. They rolled a natural 1 with me. And I really wasn't satisfied at all. I will be keeping their review at a 2 stars because the vibe, the resturant ambience and I know this is a cultural spot for the people in Seattle. That I understand, and will keep it at a 2 star for this review. But their food was not it. I was not happy, I was not satisfied and I walked out of there a little bit angry. I won't be back, but I respect the place. Whatever happened within the years, and hearing about good things about the place, I won't be recommending it at all. I was rooting for you.

Yelp
You would miss this place if you're not looking closely as it's a tiny space between establishments. Not a lot of options for the ramen. I feel like standard ingredients Iike corn should come standard in a ramen and not an add on. Small space. Maybe occupy 12 people on tables and another 12 on the bar. Dim lights. Friendly staff. Long wait as there is limited space. Location not safe. Not a lot of parking space

Yelp
This little hole in the wall is my favorite ramen in the whole PNW! The private dining stalls are so cute. The broth is very silky and the meat was tender and succulent. They also have a great sake selection. Always worth stopping by while in Seattle.

Yelp
Traditional spot, simple menu. Can have a waitlist, but the ramen they serve is worth it

Yelp
Initially reserved a table for a different ramen place but the wait time was crazy long so we decided to look around for a different spot. Good decision coz this place is a must visit! Ambiance - place was small but had enough seating. They have a ramen bar where they serve ramen directly to you. Gave me the classic ramen places vibe. Service - it's fast! Ample wait time and food came out fresh! Food - one of the best ramens I've had. Flavor is just right. I wish the egg was a little softer but that's just me being picky lol the meat was tender, gyoza and crab salad were good! They have only few ramen choices but hey, they give you a good one! Overall, good choice to not wait on the other place lol

Yelp
Overall: A charming, small spot that'll scratch most ramen itches The good: Hearty ramen with a savory broth that was light but filling. It wasn't overly salty and it complemeted the rest of the ingredients in the bowl nicely. Noodles were cooked well, as was the pork. Once we ordered, the ramen was delivered quickly. The gyoza was also great; crispy yet juicy on the inside, and stuffed with a generous amount of filling. They play anime on the single TV they have (Demon Slayer!). The not-so-good: Long wait due to limited seating. Probably only about 4 booths and a small bar (that seats 2). Limited menu, but that probably helps with the quality of the dishes they do have. It's good ramen, but not 5 star. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 9/10

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Betsu Ten Jin as it's one of the many ramen restaurants in the Seattle that looked intriguing to me. So we decided to swing by on a Friday around 8pm and had a 20 minute wait to get seated. The restaurant itself is pretty small - only able to seat up to maybe 20 customers if the restaurant was packed. At the time of this review, they had a bar section but it was closed off for what it looks like cleaning. The seating of the restaurant is tight and you definitely get your privacy while you enjoy your piping bowl of noodle soup with black curtains - We got bar seats and were basically elbow to elbow in space, some people may find it bit claustrophobic but it was cozy to me. After ordering at the front, we waited about 5ish minutes to get our food. I got the Hakata style ramen set for $22, which included the ramen itself plus an a la cart item - I picked the lobster salad. The lobster salad was a nice refresher, there was nice small chunks of lobster throughout the salad. Just a heads up, I was a bit surprised at how small the salad was, like if you were to take your index finger and thumb and touch the tips, the circle would be the size of the salad they give you. It is a bit steep if you were to order it on its own, but since it's lobster, I understand the price. The ramen it was decent - if you are into more delicate flavors, you would really enjoy this ramen. When eating ramen for me personally, I love a deep hearty and umami blasted flavor, which I am unfortunately missing from this ramen. Like I was missing that deep porky flavor that I was longing for - I wasn't impressed with the ramen here, as I think there are better tasting ones in the Seattle area for similar prices. Good thing is that there a good variety of toppings that is provided in the booth, from togarashi to minced garlic that gave this ramen that much needed flavor boost. Other components were tasty, the charshu pork was tender, the woodear gave a nice crunch, and the noodles were chewy. Overall, I would say that Betsu Ten Jin is decent given price and quantity of food given. But based on the other ramen locations that I have tried in the Seattle area, I'm not too sure if I would wait another 20-30 minutes to give this location a try again. It could have been an off day, but everyone has different tastes so all the power to you!

Yelp
This ramen places reminds me the most of ramen actually in Japan. It feels a little bit like ichiran where you have little isolated cubicles that sit 2 people or tables of four. The ramen itself is creamy without dairy and I love how they have condiments you can put in your ramen for free.

Yelp
Betsu ten Jin used to be our favorite ramen place. Sadly, the quality of the ramen has declined significantly. The chefs and owners must have changed. The prawn miso is not even faintly the same. Seems like the recipe for the broth doesn't include prawns anymore. The color, fragrance, taste, and depth of flavor are all different. Only dried prawns are used as topping. The service has also gone downhill. There are only a few staff members, but they took quite a while to come take the order, and then making the food took even longer. Despite the food taking so long, the noodles weren't even cooked properly when the ramen arrived. It's also thicker and not as authentic as it used to be. They didn't even bring the appetizers out before the ramen - we received them afterwards. The gyoza was burnt too. Everything used to be top knotch, from the speed of service to the quality of the food. All in all a very disappointing experience. I really wish I knew where the previous chefs went - I would follow them! There are way better ramen spots in Cap Hill - really recommend going elsewhere.
