"A fast-growing local coffee chain that’s reached a milestone two decades in operation comes full circle on Tuesday, June 28 with the opening of its 13th cafe in Mira Mesa. 20 years ago, Better Buzz got its start as a humble coffee cart at a Mira Mesa corporate complex; by 2008, it was able to launch a 8,000-square-foot production facility in Vista. One of Eater’s essential coffee purveyors, the company roasts and delivers coffee on-demand to its network of locations across San Diego. Carefully roasted to maintain peak caffeine levels (hence, the “better buzz”), its single-origin espresso features in straightforward drinks as well as its popular specialty beverages, including the Mint-Infused Iced Coffee and the Vanilla Bean Latte. This summer, it’s debuting an iced version of its Best Drink Ever®, based on cold brew extracted on a proprietary system housed at its Hillcrest cafe. Its food menu includes acai bowls, toasts, sandwiches, and fresh pastries provided by Bread & Cie. Designed by MY Studio ID, the new Mira Mesa cafe replaces a Subway in the center that’s also home to 85°C Bakery Cafe and Golden Island. "Better Buzz Coffee Roasters will unveil its stunning 7,500-square-foot multi-level space dedicated to all things coffee this Saturday, January 20. It’s a new central hub for the local company, which was founded in 2002 and runs a large-scale production roastery in Vista that fuels Better Buzz coffee bar locations around the county. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, the new University Avenue site is filled with light and plenty of seating, with more coming on a patio that Better Buzz will share with an incoming Japanese ramen spot. The central coffee bar will brew up a range of coffee, from Seraphim pour-overs to single origin espresso and the speciality drinks that have become Better Buzz signatures; new additions include a rosewater latte, orange-infused matcha, golden latte with turmeric and a drink flight that features an espresso tonic and shaken lemon-infused cold brew. On display is a vintage Probat machine, which will roast up small batches of coffee exclusively for this location, and a cold brew production area behind glass. Food options have also expanded and evolved: the all-day cafe menu now includes plates ranging from a bagel and lox board, grilled cheese with prosciutto, gruyere and caramelized onions and a breakfast sandwich with thick cut bacon, egg and garlic aioli on a pretzel bun to a flight of toasts topped with avocado and watermelon radish, lemon ricotta, and beet hummus. A conference room on the ground floor, as well has a lounge on the mezzanine, are able to be rented for meeting and events with Better Buzz providing catering packages.
