My visit to the Better Buzz Coffee in Terminal 1 of the San Diego Airport yielded a genuinely disappointing experience across several key areas. While the location offers appreciated convenience, the execution of the product and service policies was subpar, leading me to a two-star rating.
Firstly, I was highly frustrated by the refusal to serve my order in a personal reusable cup. This policy, applied to both a standard coffee and an espresso, is a significant step backward in environmental consciousness and convenience, especially at a major travel hub. In an era where sustainability is critical, accommodating reusable drinkware should be a standard practice.
Furthermore, the quality of the coffee itself was underwhelming. The medium roast I ordered was noticeably weak and lacked the robust flavor profile expected from a specialty coffee vendor. This low quality was consistent with my observation of the equipment; the espresso setup appeared to be a low-effort, push-button automated system, similar to those used by larger, less artisan-focused chains.
For the price point and the brand reputation, I expect better quality extraction, stronger flavor, and a commitment to sustainable service options. I hope the management addresses these issues to align the Terminal 1 location with higher service and quality standards.
