The Best Portland Coffee Shops, According to the Owner of Deadstock Coffee | Eater Portland

"The triumvirate running the shop — chef Richard Le of Matta, coffee roaster Kimberly Dam of Portland Ca Phe, and pastry chef Lisa Nguyen of Heyday — are on a spree. It’s the newest outfit from Dam and one of her baristas at Ca Phe; Williams appreciates that she chose to open in a space that had been two different coffee shops before it debuted at the end of 2024. He specifically enjoys the drinks with cold foam and the pressed bagel sandwiches. "It’s a good-feeling space," Williams says. "It’s not flat like a lot of cafes." - Paolo Bicchieri

The Best Coffee Shops in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"It’s tough to throw a stone in Portland’s coffee community without a barista shouting out Kim Dam of Portland Cà Phê. It’s deserved; Eater Portland gave her an award in 2024, too. Bridgetown Bites wrote up the entrepreneur’s newest shop on Southeast Division Street. Debuting in December 2024, the superhero blue-colored cafe has Cà Phê beans, European espresso and Vietnamese coffee drinks, and pastries from fellow Mémoire Cà Phê co-owner Lisa Nguyen’s HeyDay." - Paolo Bicchieri

I would give them 4 stars for not having decaf but their mochi donuts were awesome and they made me a Chamomile Tea latte. My wife enjoyed the coffee. The space is super cool and it's nice to see something vibrant take that corner space off Division. Had a lot of people inside, big windows, and a bunch of places to sit. They just opened so excited to see how they develop in the neighborhood. Much needed coffee option over here!

Great music, great matcha, and great vibes! The bagel sando was really tasty too. I just hung out for about 2 hours with a friend and the time flew by. There's a ton of space and the location is great. Also, the staff was really kind. I will definitely be back!

I just got an oat latte, no sweetener there, and it was rather sour and acrid and missing a lot of the body that a good espresso shot should have. Didn't try any of the food. The service was good. Took my order and promptly gave me my drink. No complaints there. The atmosphere I would say needs a little more oomph. Decorations are sparse for the size of the walls, with some walls being almost entirely bare. The paintings that are on the walls are cool though. Furniture is quite uncomfortable, being entirely hard surfaces with zero cushion. Most seats lack back support. Echoey with hardwood floors and tables. Make no mistake, Better Days is entirely serviceable. This was not a bad experience, but there are at least 2 other cafes on Division that I would choose before this one.

Amazing ambiance, love the music, such a gorgeous gorgeous space with lots of space and light. The decor with the paper lights and plants is chef’s kiss. One of my new favorite work/study spaces. Drinks are delicious, my favorites are the coconut cream matcha and the brown sugar cinnamon with tiramisu :)

Nice location on division, very open space. After coming a few more times, it’s not for me; doesn’t have very comfortable seating for working, and the drinks are mostly good if you want something sweet. Since it leans Vietnamese and darker roasted coffee, you’ll get something pretty bitter otherwise.

I came here during the summer! They had a strawberry shortcake latte that I had seen advertised on IG where it was posted multiple times that people had subbed out the espresso for matcha (never from their official account but reposted from other accounts). I asked for the latte with matcha and the cashier told me they could not do that. I told him that I had seen the matcha version posted on Instagram and he told me it wasn’t a menu item and they would not offer that. I said that I understood and looked at the menu again to figure out what I would have instead…after waiting a few moments for me to decide he looked impatient and disgruntled and rolled his eyes and said “I guess we can make it for you that way.” I appreciate the fact that they let me order the latte, but the cashier was rude and I left me feeling like an inconvenience. Perhaps use discretion when reposting non-menu items? Otherwise really cute shop!

Google
It's just alright, pricey but comparable to other coffee spots in the area. Drinks took a while as there was only one person working, and people who ordered after me got their drinks before I did. Ordered one of their seasonal drinks, the vanilla bean latte, which came not filled to the top of the cup unlike my partner's regular latte, and also tasted burnt.

Such a cute coffee shop! I love the big open space. There is an area with tables and chairs to work or catch up with a friend. The big windows give such amazing natural sunlight. We ordered a blueberry lemonade and an iced vanilla latte. Both were so good but looking forward to trying the tiramisu next time. We also shared an ube donut, yummy! We’ll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
What a gem! A gorgeous, open space with tons of natural light and lovely blue accents. The coffee was delicious!!! I got a brown sugar cinnamon oat milk latte with tiramisu cold foam and it was absolutely wonderful. On the sweeter side but in a really good way. The service was friendly too. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Drink: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 What a quaint cafe on Division! Parking is street parking, but there are spots in the neighborhood that you can find nearby. I've been here twice already and ordered the same drink twice: the tiramisu latte! It is on the pricier side but you are getting what you pay for, a yummy tiramisu flavored drink. The interior is decorated beautifully, I enjoyed the little trinkets displayed throughout and the pops of blue on the chairs :). Other than tiramisu latte, they offer a variety of other fun flavored drinks I would like to try next- they have a blueberry matcha and an ube drink!! Service wise I felt was just okay, maybe because they have been busy and have only 1-2 staff working at a time, so it helps to be patient while waiting for your drink :D! Highly recommend if you're in the area for a sweet treat fix.

Yelp
Found this brand new cafe off TikTok and I was very happy I got a chance to stop by while in town! The cafe is very open and all of the accents of blue are stunning. I got the classic matcha latte (iced, oat milk, extra shot of matcha, and sweetened with agave) and it was just right. There are residential areas nearby with an ample amount of street parking when my friends and I went.

Yelp
Better days indeed! Sunny spot on Division with certified vibes. Over the top delicious iced drinks here and lovely staff. My lox bagel hit the spot. Great record collection as well.

Yelp
Lovely space with great energy. The coffee was more milk forward than I'd prefer. I think the ratio of espresso to milk could be improved. Overall great staff, delicious menu options, and good seating in this clean, well lit place.

Yelp
My life has gotten better since this has opened. They have some of the best coffee i've had in Portland and especially on this side of town! So far Ive had the tiramisu latte, cinnamon brown sugar latte, ube chocolate foam drink, and coconut cream matcha. All of them were AMAZING! You can tell they know their stuff & are doing it well.

Yelp
ordered a simple matcha with oat milk and it did not taste like matcha. it was $6 cup of oat milk. the space and aesthetic was so cute and the people were nice but sadly i won't return for a matcha.
