Google
Provide a variety of coffee, tea and pastry options (including gluten-free bakery products). 5 mins walk to the ferry terminal. Great ocean view with a sublime atmosphere. Not the typical tourist spot but a proud local owned business.

Brittany

Google
Love this spot for a great coffee any time I’m in town. (Salted caramel latte hits!) The cafe itself is moderately sized, but fills up fast. Staff are friendly and you can’t beat that view.

Corey Mann

Google
The perfect coffee shop. Peaceful with a local feel. Coffee was delicious, prices were typical. Kinda hard to find with current construction.

Claire WithLove

Google
Great little coffee shop across from the Palace Hotel with inside seating with a view of the water and outside seating. I got the Irish Cream coffee - really good. They also sell Pane d'Amore bakery almond croissants, chocolate croissants, and other yummy items.

Google
My friend said “The best drip coffee I’ve had in years”. Iced latte was very very good as well. The cafe was bustling, line moved quickly though. Fantastic view of the water. Would revisit.

Google
This was the best spinach quiche I've had in my entire life! And the salted caramel latte was so well done, full to the brim, and they actually still use real mugs for dining in. The eating area is cozy and sunlit and delightfully warm- it's a great spot to work or meet up with friends.

Google
I got an americano and the spinach quiche. both delicious and reasonably priced, especially for the size of the quiche. the views of the water/pier are great. and the coffeehouse chatter is at the perfect environment for meeting a friend, reading or getting work done. they’ve really out done themselves with curating a great coffeehouse vibe. and the staff were really friendly and helpful!

Google
The cutest coffee shop. We had a Latte, Dirty Chai and Biscotti. Everything was delicious. Their Quiches looked amazing and I'm a bit sad we didn't order one. :) Dirty Chai was the best I've ever had and it's my go-to drink! :)

Yelp
Phenomenal view and ambience when the sun is rising. Coffee is great and fast even when busy and the baristas are friendly.

Yelp
A fixture of the Port Townsend waterfront, better living through coffee is a great place to enjoy a view of the water and a cup of joe. I've been coming here a couple times a year since I was old enough to drink coffee. Today I got a cup of the Brazil medium-dark roast. True to the description on the menu, it had notes of caramel, and it wasn't very acidic. My mom got the cafe Arancia, which is an orange spiced latte. The micro-foam was velvety smooth, and the flavor was sweet with just the right amount of orange coming through. The specialty latte menu hasn't changed in years, but that's not a bad thing--after all, if it's not broken don't fix it. They sell their own coffee beans here and specialize in darker roasts. We also ordered the onion roll, though I wouldn't recommend it-- the dough wasn't tasty. Better to stick to their coffee and quiches. The service is good here, and even on a busy day like today, the baristas were friendly and fast. If you dine in, there's wifi, plenty of seating, and a breathtaking view of the water.

Yelp
Lovely spot overlooking the water in Port Townsend. A coffee shop with character and the panache now missing from many. Plenty of gluten free items that taste good. The tea and coffee assortment is top notch. Want a cup of coffee? Select your coffee and they'll freshly run a drip for you. I had the light roast Ethiopian. Great body and a welcome Sunday morning start

Yelp
Excellent Atmosphere mixed with great drinks, good vibes, and delicious food. Better Living Through Coffee is a great place to visit if you're in Port Townsend. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Better Living Through Coffee is a well established indie cafe with a strong community base located in Port Townsend's downtown core. I've stopped in three times: once a long time ago pre-Yelp, second time with The Homie seated at the counter with our beverages (8/24/19), and most recently on a spontaneous visit to the Kitsap & Olympic Peninsulas (5/19/24). Seems the sweet spot is to stop in earlier in the morning before the onslaught of day trippers, especially during the weekends. I drove leisurely via the main exit or via Chimacum/Quilcene exit. Also, arriving earlier there's much better chance of finding street parking and/or catching the ferry to Whidbey Island. Better Living Through Coffee has the prime location of being adjacent to a public outdoor plaza and pocket beach access. Their cafe also has outdoor and indoor seating with waterfront views. Great selection of merch, cafe beverages, and scratch baked goods. Love that their pastry cases are always well stocked with a variety of enticing choices. They've upgraded to a POS system at the front counter, so I relinquished my former stamp card and joined the system to accrue points. Friendly counter folks that are able to deal with what seems to be a never ending line. Nice to see this is a spot where convos and community gatherings rule, only one laptop seen. I was able to take in the vibe and stay awhile at my window seat two top. I enjoyed a 12oz mocha...would have preferred a 16oz but that had 4 shots of espresso, 2 is just fine for me. I tried a slice each of the sausage & pepper quiche and carrot cake. The quiche was freshly cut and warmed up...I just have to remember to let it cool a bit before that first molten bite. As my first meal of the day, all three items did the job and hit the spot. Having a lovely waterfront view and warmth from the sunshine streaming through was also top notch. Always a terrific detour!

Yelp
We've been here twice already on our trip to Port Townsend. It's a cute, friendly place with great coffee and tasty treats. I haven't tried the salmon quiche but it looks great! We've had some muffins, cookies, and croissants as well as various coffees and teas. Every drink is well made and the staff helpful and nice. It seems to be a local gathering spot and always pretty busy. Better Living Through Coffee is a great place to start the day or sit on the beach with a coffee and a book.

Skye P.

Yelp
Lots of great tea options and you can make any tea into a latte! Close to a community spot with a lot of outside tables and a little beach spot for families. Good indoor seating for working and hanging out with great windows to look out at the water while you enjoy your drink or snack.

Joyce L.

Yelp
This coffee shop was popping! Great location with plenty of outside space to enjoy the water view. I had a vanilla latte which was perfect with their coffee cake and that combo was delicious. I loved that the pastry was not overly sweet and it was very nut forward. One of the better coffee cakes I've had in awhile!

Yelp
Just visiting but.... damn! What a view. The sound. The aircraft carrier across at Walan point.. I think. I am not from here. The coffee did I mention the view.... But the coffee was munificent... I have hankered after it... when I was gone. The service. Nice. the dudes behind the esspresssssso bar... well skills... My humble appreciation to whomever set this little establishment up. I salute you. "When you arise in the morning and think of what a privilege it is to be alive... to think of getting a coffee at this little house on the gravely beach looking across at that beautiful stretch of water. Don't go elsewhere, no. Go to "Better living through coffee" in Port Townsend.

Yelp
It's always our favorite stop when we have visitors from out of town. Fast friendly service, pastries are to die for 100% recommend this place.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Inviting interior and nice baristas. It's fun to watch the drip coffee being dripped right in front of you, but it is a process and will take a bit of time. Good, strong coffee (got the loop d loop) and the espresso was also great. My dog and husband waited outside beautiful beach view!) as only service dogs are allowed inside

Jaclyn H.

Yelp
Great lattes! They were fairly quick even with the amount of customers waiting. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the coffee. Love that the milk is also organic. This was one of my favorite lattes I have had on the peninsula. I am very sensitive to the taste of the flavored syrups places use and theirs was spot on and not artificial tasting. I also love that they carry Iggy's products. Love them! It's always great seeing local businesses support other local (peninsula) businesses! We will be back next time we are in town.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Came to Port Townsend for the weekend, and this spot didn't disappoint. I got the Cafe venois (with macadamia milk) one day and the americano (with cashew milk) the next day. Both were good. I love how they have local, organic fair trade coffee. Their organic milk and dairy free milks are no extra charge. The salmon quiche was amazing and they have a good amount of salmon in every bite. I highly recommend. The service of all the employees was the best. All of them were so nice and happily answered any questions I had. They made me feel super welcome. I would definitely come back here again when I'm back in Port Townsend. Definitely a local gem! The plus side on top of everything was the view of the water right outside of the cafe.

Cyndi C.

Yelp
Great coffee shop right in the heart of Port Townsend waterfront. You can sit inside at tables or belly up to bar style window seating facing the sea. There's also A few tables outside, as well as this shop is conveniently located next to public benches for overflow coffee traffic. They have all the cafe coffee styles but for me it's simplicity of your own personal drip coffee cup! You can choose from many roasts from light, medium to dark as well as ask for more or less water. The coffee is perfect. I saw many orders of bfast snacks fly by, looks good but for me it's been only coffees so far.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Friendly people, good coffee and good food! I have been there twice when visiting Port Townsend and recommend it to anyone going that way.

Michael H.

Yelp
Plenty of options available, friendly staff who made recommendations and as I saw it all coffee was prepared as individual pour overs resulting in a great cup of fresh coffee.

Rob M.

Yelp
It's the view. Snag a window seat and watch the ferry come and go while sipping coffee. BLTC is better than OK but mostly because of the view. Glad to have a vegan ginger cookie to snack on and did take away some good vegan split pea soup for dinner.

B Ml C.

Yelp
You can't miss this place if you just want a great cup of coffee. They roast their own and have a variety of blends. My fav is loop-loop which is a deep rich roast coffee. Then choose from a verity of baked goods (some gf and vegan). Then sit to enjoy the waterfront views and locals chatting

David P.

Yelp
I have been coining here for years. Great location right on the water. Good food- quiches, baked item, etc Now to the coffee....they state they have light roasts but they are more like a medium. I'm very partial to a light roast to really taste the flavors on the coffee. Better Living....lighten it up....just a bit. ,0)

Yelp
Lovely cozy little place with a surprising amount of seating and even a few plugs! The coffee is all pour over by the cup so you have quite a few options to choose from. The food is delicious and all really clearly marked for food allergies. Loads of stuff for my gluten free dairy free husband to choose from and that's a rarity.

Katy H.

Yelp
I visited over lunch on a Friday in the off season, and even then this place was hopping. - Beautiful view of the water and such a lovely interior you'll be happy wherever you sit. - Great food options, from quiche to almond croissants. I opted for a coconut pumpkin pie and I've never had anything quite like it. - Full selection of teas. And when you ask for your tea to go they offered to give me a tea bag or they could steep it themselves - plus they poured into my reusable cup. There were a few people working from the cafe when I visited, but even then seats turned over quicker than I was expecting. It helps there are also seats outside all with a view.

Phillip K.

Yelp
Some pf the friendliest service I think I have ever received! Great help with the menu. Got the Brazil blend of drip coffee...it was EXCELLENT! Right on the ocean! If I lived in Port Townsend...I would be a regular.

Trang W.

Yelp
Cute unique coffee shop. We were waiting for our ferry and stop by to grab some coffee to go. Cute and busy shop. We had just grab lunch elsewhere, but would like to try one of their pies next time. Their specialty is that they do drip coffee.

Krista Lou ..

Yelp
Nice space overlooking the water. Really good quiche. Good coffee. Great customer service

Alexis T.

Yelp
Beautiful water views, non-fussy cozy atmosphere, lovely local buzz, really great quiche, caring and pleasant staff. Their drip coffee is really pour-over. A minute or so after getting mine the barista called my name out again. He wasn't absolutely sure he had made decaf for me and wanted to remake the cup. Now that is caring!

Anders B.

Yelp
I'd go here every morning when I lived downtown. The teas are so aromatic and combined with the view over the water. Then there's the pastries and baked goods which are all killer. Service is fast so you're in and out if it's to go

Siamen M.

Yelp
Who wouldn't come to a place that has a view like this. The coffee is great! If you order drip coffee, they will brew that right in front of you. Can't get any fresher brew of coffee that that. Many different kinds of quiche they offer as well. What a lovely place!

Kelly W.

Yelp
Great coffee and location. Friendly staff. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie did not disappoint.

Paul W.

Yelp
Way way better than Starbucks! The coffee here is fantastic and they seem to actually take pride in and are very knowledgeable about their craft. They have a number of different roasts to choose from depending on your taste. My personal favorite that I've tried so far is the Brazilian. They also have great quiche and assorted breakfast stuff. My wife said the hot chocolate was amazing. This is a great place to stop for coffee when you're in town sightseeing or shopping.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Stopped in one afternoon for rge most delicious smoothie and chocolate torte. Very friend staff and an amazing view.

Naol T.

Yelp
Dante's Tornado (medium roast), black. 5 stars for this pour over coffee. Right now it's takeout counter orders only, no sit in. But there are tables just outside to sip and watch ships meander by. They do have a small selection of pastries but the blueberry cream danish we had was sub-par. They looked good but tasted stale, was not worth the calories.

Monica S.

Yelp
It was warm and humid and we had pizza slices with no drinks so I ventured in to get us some iced teas. The wait was a bit long because there were lots of guests coming in. I appreciated their water station as I waited. It's a nice place with lots of menu options including some interesting quiche options.

Steve B.

Yelp
You must be patient with the lines, because everybody rightly wants to be here. Excellent drip coffees made to order. The quiche is pricey but memorable. Have fun!

Kristin K.

Yelp
Had an oat milk latte and tried two different vegan cookies. Latte was not strong enough. My friend loved her London fog. It was nice that they had a few vegan cookie options. Wish they also had a vegan scone. Service was kind and efficient. Tables were clean and the view was fantastic.

Tad D.

Yelp
Terrific local coffee spot. Really good and fresh coffee. Outstanding shortbread cookies made fresh in-house. Fast and friendly service. $1million view of the bay. What's not to really like?

Susan B.

Yelp
Every time I visit Better Living Through Coffee the experience is wonderful. They also make a delicious salmon chowder, salmon quiche and wide variety of baked goods. The view is stunning and cafe is relaxed and welcoming.

Jackie J.

Yelp
Very friendly & welcoming staff from the second you walk in! They make their own salted caramel and it's delicious. I had a salted caramel latte and a peanut butter bagel. They are NOT stingy with the peanut butter! I could barely finish the bagel it was loaded with peanut butter (I was not mad about that). This place is almost always packed- so I try to go early!

Cindy R.

Yelp
Had a gorgeous chocolate croissant BUT it could've used more chocolate. I was disappointed. I also had a great caramel latte. When we left, there was a long line of people waiting to order their morning coffees. The location is great! It was fun to sip my drink and enjoy the sunrise off the water and watch the boats.

Jacques I.

Yelp
Much-needed caffeine can be found here. We visited Better Living Through Coffee, which was right across from our hotel in Port Townsend, for it was a necessity in starting our day. At this time, they are only doing takeout service, where you can order at the window. You can't go wrong with a bold drip, and my boyfriend and I would share the breakfast wrap, which came with sausage, kale, egg, cheese and salsa for both of the days we visited Better Living Through Coffee. They don't have their other food items, like the quiche available during this time. The coffee was strong, and like that they have different brews to choose from. I used to be a dark roast fan, which they have, but go with the lighter blend for more caffeine! The breakfast wrap was delicious, as it's made fresh, so comes out hot and tasty, with the melted cheese and spice from the salsa. Although they do not have seating available, Better Living Through Coffee is conveniently located by a public park area with plenty of seating that looks out to the water. This is where most people congregate anyway. Glad to have had this so close to where we stayed in Port Townsend.

Ray H.

Yelp
Maybe my favorite coffeehouse ever! Only went there 3 times in the 20 hours or so we were in Port Townsend. Great vibe. Beautiful view out onto the peaceful water ( if we had had the time I could have just stared out at it for hours). Exceptionally friendly, personable, efficient staff. Incredible fresh pastries. Oh yeah, what about the coffee? Top shelf, the very best, fresh, flavorful, aromatic. On my 3 visits I had an espresso, a latte, and a cappuccino; all prepared and served to perfection.

Summer C.

Yelp
Owners and employees are absolutely wonderful!! Coffee is some of the best I've ever had. Food is delicious and ingredients are top-notch for those who prefer local and organic. Cannot beat the waterfront ambiance! Definitely worth a stop and wait. This is our must-stop in PT.

L K.

Yelp
My plan was to go to Velocity Coffee, but they closed at 2pm. So, I ended up here. Not a bad little coffee shop - they seem to take their COVID protocols pretty seriously, which I appreciated. I got an iced mocha which was superb. It seems like they add a chocolate powder rather than syrup, which makes it a little more decadent (at least in my mind). I took a star off because a large is only 16 ounces (in most places, this is a medium for an iced drink). I paid $6 after taxes, which seems pretty high. Wished they had larger sizes (apparently I am a true glutton who wants everything 'big'). Other issue I had was I struggled to get the plastic lid on and am not a big fan of paper straws (but I guess that's my own fault for not bringing my own ;) ). I would definitely recommend stopping in for a treat if you are in Port Townsend.

Jeff T.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop I've ever been to! The atmosphere is completely charming and it has the staff to match. Sometimes there's a long line, but it will move fast. It's worth the wait for quality coffee made by people who care.

SHeila R.

Yelp
Latte good - cookie was so stale you couldn't even break it . Blueberry crumble was terrible mush flavorless tart .

Leslie C.

Yelp
Delicious and very reasonably priced. I ordered the iced chocolate mocha which comes with cocoa, four shots of coffee, vanilla and cream. Very tasty indeed!!! Hubby got four shots of espresso over ice. Excellent. Cute spot with great water views.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
The chocolate crossiant and berry crumble would have tasted much better if they offered to warm them up for us. The spinach quiche was warm and yummy.

Audra B.

Yelp
If you read my posts you know my biggest gripe with places is their coffee!! This place is ON the water. They have pastries and such. Tea. Other stuffs. But I come for the coffee. Every. Single. Time. My fav is their Pantomime French roast drip pour over. with heavy cream. THAAAANK YOOOU. They even have their roasted for sale whole bean. I buy two when I'm in town. They will also grind it for you. But I grind my own. But I love that they do it for you too. It also is situated right there next to a very large concrete patio seating area so when it's nice you can just sit out in the sun, watch the boats go by and enjoy a really damn good coffee and chill. People watch. Talk to your dog or friends or other patrons. It's a groovy spot.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Tried the Salted Carmel Latte and the freeze (sans coffee). Both delicious! I'm a light coffee drinker and the coffee is roasted just right for me. The flavor is house made and yummy! We tried the vegan split pea soup and oh wow! There's a recipe I want! It's a special so if you see it on menu, get it!

Jean B.

Yelp
My absolute favorite cafe on the peninsula!! They've got amazing atmosphere, great coffee and good food. You can sit at a table inside and look over the ocean, or do your work at one of their tables. I get the cafe aranciata and vegetarian tamale pie every time :)
