On the Grid : Brooklyn Baby Cakes

"Don't get fooled by the name: those delicious treats come in a variety of sizes, shapes and flavors, reminding us all of the simple pleasures in life. Myriam Nicolas, started this small business with a simple red velvet cake and took it into much more adventurous taste territories, such as watermelon lime, mocha buttercream or peach bellini. Yum!" - Ramona Todoca

What a nice surprise, Betty Bakery in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. I got myself a coffee and followed AJ's advice and got the steak and cheese pie for dinner and a slice of carrot cake for dessert and let me tell you, both made my taste buds extremely happy! If my schedule allows it, I will definitely be back, so many more goodies I want to try. In short, good service, nice coffee and most importantly amazing food.

For my 60th Birthday celebration, I made an unusual request to have their lemon bundt cake recipe made into a sheet cake to decorate for the celebration; the owner was very attentive and patient. The cake was a HUGE HIT! It looked (simply) marvelous, as I would have it! Delivery was timely, which is very important.

Quiet cosy bakery w the best pies, savory or sweet! Great coffee, yummy lemon bars and many other treats to enjoy. Plus beautiful custom cakes to order Definitely worth a visit

Cute little bakery. Love the art on the outside. It's not a huge selection but what they have is very good. I took home 2 Rustic Apple Pies and 2 Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. My mom and I enjoyed these treats very much. The service is good and the prices are reasonable.

The guy on the phone said it’s the best and it is. Easily the best Carrot Cake in NYC, and yes, I’ve had Lloyd’s, Hani’s, Billy’s, Carrot Top, Mia’s, Little Cupcake (which is actually not good at all), and many many others. It has very similar cake layers to Lloyd’s and is truthfully not quite as warming, dense, or rich of a mouthful, but the icing is perfectly balanced. Velvety mouthfeel, not gritty or mealy like Lloyd’s, and not nearly as sweet. It’s a very dreamy nostalgic bite, and from someone who has tried hundreds of carrot cakes recipes at home and out at bakeries, this is as good as it gets.

Google
I love their savory pies! We get a dozen at a time and stock the freezer, easy lunch or kids meal always on hand. The Argentine Beef and the Cumin Lamb are the adults favorites, the kids love the Bacon Egg and Cheese and the Steak and Cheese.

Betty Bakery is a small hidden treasure in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn NYC. This small bakery has a very nice atmosphere to it. The interior has a lot of character and makes you want to sit down, forget about your summer body diet and eat something delicious asap. They have so many goodies to choose from. So many delicious cookies, cakes and pies that stare you in the face. I had a really hard time choosing between all those irresistible treats but AJ came to the rescue and recommended the carrot cake, one of his favorites. And let me tell you, that cake was ridiculously tasty and met my high expectations. To be honest this might be the best carrot cake I’ve ever had. I also got some cookies and a cupcake to go for my trip back home. They were also very good and tasty. So to conclude my review, I'll be back for another round of tasting and indulging myself with all the baked goods when I visit New York again. I highly recommend this cute and high quality bakery to anyone who’s visiting NYC. It was a refreshingly sweet and delicious experience more than anything. Thanks for the welcoming hospitality and service :)

Google
I asked AJ to recommend between the oreo cheesecake and the red velvet cake. He without hesitation said the red velvet cake. Without a doubt the best I've ever had. Rich, dense, moist VELVETY ( a quality lacking in many red velvets) balanced by a not overly sweet cream cheese frosting. Went down smoothly even without a glass of milk or a cup of coffee

Yelp
What a shame! I walked in here with my husband and 2 year old son. THE CASHIER WAS EXTREMELYYYYYYY UNFRIENDLY AND COLD! He didn't even say hello and complained about having to switch out to a bigger box because we were buying more pies! I didn't think that would be such an issue... I also purchased some sweet desserts as well. As my son finished his cupcake, a Caucasian family entered the bakery and to my surprise the cashier was over friendly to them and making recommendations on what to eat. I was in shock and didn't want to think much of it but as I left I thanked him loudly and he proceeded to ignore us and not even acknowledge us. Wtf is all I can say?! I don't want to think like that but all I can think was this guy was definitely racist. How horrible especially living in NYC in 2024. Betty Bakery owner if you're reading this please do better! I think this will be my first and last time at this establishment especially when I can shop elsewhere!

Yelp
Acquaint, friendly neighborhood bakery. I've gone in many times for cupcakes, which are always moist and delicious. The cookies are also yummy. I found the pie a bit dry. Yesterday I picked up a carrot cake for an event. I came in last minute but, they still were very helpful in terms of writing something special on the cake. Yes, it was pricey, but everyone loved it and asked for seconds. My iced matcha latte was good too. The cashier was very helpful. Betty, I will be back again!

Yelp
I ordered a dozen specialty cupcakes for our friend's 60th birthday - I really needed these cupcakes to be OVER the top with color, glitter and lavish icing as our friend wanted the most flamboyant cupcakes ever. Betty Bakery DELIVERED! These were the best, most insane, beautiful and DELICIOUS cupcakes - we couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to celebrate our friend. We even were able to get a few gluten free - we'll be coming back here for our future celebrations!

Yelp
Nobody does it better than Betty Bakery, to whom I am grateful! From concept to design to production to presentation to very detailed storage specs, they worked with me every step of the way for over 6 months to make my son's birthday extra magical. We'll be back in the fall for our Thanksgiving pies & next year for his second custom birthday cake

Yelp
I got hustled by TikTok... again. The homemade "Twinkies" were awful. They were dry and last any real flavor.
google avatar

Julie H.

Yelp
Dry pie, decent brinks. I ordered the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Pie and asked for it to be heated up. The crust was so dry, crumbly, and the inside was still lukewarm. I got a matcha latte with my order, and it was serviceable. Nothing special. I tried to sit down and work on my laptop, but there was no wifi and outlets that didn't charge. The chairs were uncomfortable, and it wasn't a very welcoming space. They really want you to go get your order in and get out. Won't be coming back.

Yelp
What a great bakery! Being a person who prefers savory treats, this is a great place to check out. On top of having delicious sweet stuff (GET THE COCONUT CAKE & CHOCOLATE CAKE) they have an array of savory pies. The crust is so flaky and delicious. The staff were so friendly and you can tell they are extremely passionate about their craft.

Yelp
Betty bakery is a cute, quaint spot with lots of offerings-- cupcakes, cookies, savory pies, cake slices and coffee/espresso. I purchased 6 cupcakes and a cookie and it was around $35. I was a bit put off by the price, since the cupcakes are relatively small -- but had purchased these items as a gift and am aware that the price of everything has gone up recently. There were several cupcake flavors to choose from- including strawberry frosted, red velvet, carrot, vanilla and chocolate. Once the cupcakes were brought home, we noticed that the frosting also acted as a filling for each cupcake-- whaaat! It was great to have the extra frosting to enjoy.

Yelp
What an absolute disaster. Avoid at all cost. I'd leave no stars if Yelp would allow me. This establishment has just gone down hill over the last few years. I had ordered custom cakes here and the quality just got worse and worse as the price has just gone up and up. The neurotic emails from the owner trying to ask you to constantly "up" your budget to the lack of basic detail of their cakes is sad. You're essentially getting "off the rack" product as the cakes have gotten drier over the years and very little basic service for your order. When I asked why they hadn't written happy birthday on a birthday cake I had ordered, I was shown legal paper work that I signed essentially saying, sorry buddy, it's a done deal. A simple apology would have been enough. Go to Buttermilk Bake shop, lady bird bakery or many others around Brooklyn where you get, service, a good product, and a normal transaction. Betty Bakery is a disaster. They've given up a long time ago. Avoid, avoid avoid.

Yelp
Lovely service and lovely cupcake! I got the carrot cake and some coffee and a pick me up while I walked to my next errand. Cute little spot too!

Yelp
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it...I don't even know if Cheryl Kleinman is still here- but that woman rocks when it comes to cakes and pastries!!!! I'll try to briefly level with you my love for Cheryl Kleinman. When I searched for a wedding cake 10 years ago, I wanted it to be the best. May have spoken to Cheryl (or someone else) about flavor options for our summer wedding cake. Based on the lemon, Almond and carrot cake selections and desired frosting, my girl Cheryl was able to fit us in for a Saturday taste test. The thought she put into the 3 mini individual testers took me to a pastry heaven I've never been before. In the end, we settled on the Almond...but the transportation cake fee from Brooklyn to Crabtree's Kittle House in Chappaqua was through the roof, sadly we backed down but happily opted for La Tulipe in Mt. Kisco. Fast forward to Pandemic 2020 and feening for something sweet. Betty's isn't Vegan- all I said was, "f*ck it". They're doing pick up and delivery with no mail order option. I emailed them and received a call from (Dakota...sorry for the misspelling man), a few back and forths, told him what I wanted, received an email invoice, I paid and received my goodies intact. Just be mindful, there is a delay and got my box in a little over a week. My 'Twinkies' were so light and the taste unique- I cant even put it into words. Chocolate Chip Cookies? Nice size and buttery flavor. But I expected them to have that 'chewy in the middle- crispy edge' feel. These were flat and crumbled all over me. Again- I'm not sure who's the pastry chef here, but- one 'large' cookie goes for $3.75 a pop and expected a higher-end cookie. Listen, customer service is solid but Betty B. might still pulls all the stops with only their cakes, pies- not cookies.

Yelp
Dakota, one of the owners and who runs foh, makes you feel like you have just been invited into his home the minute you step into this deliciously smelling and adorably decorated bake shop. I was on a mission to find the best carrot cake in the 5 boros but looking at all the other cakes they also had available this day, I could not resist just ordering a whole carrot cake but also ordered a slice of the other four on hand as well. To top it off, they do a beautiful balance of sweet things and savory things, so had to try their Shepard's pie (they have a vegetarian version of this too), their Brazilian chicken pie made with housemade Sofrito, and their new beef chili pie as well. My pics are of all of their sweets only because the savory pies we devoured by my three sausages when I got home with them. They literally licked each disposable pie dish clean, so I'm going to say they were delicious and a huge hit. Onto the sweet! We loved their carrot cake frosting, I'd eat that alone with a large spoon every day. The carrot cake portion was very good however we all agreed it had a bit too much sweetened coconut flakes in it. In fact, we all LOVED the coconut cake but wished more of the sweetened coconut flakes were used in this one instead. The red velvet cake definitely is a winner and on par with some of the well known versions that other bakeries in this city are known for exclusively, their lemon cake was to die for! Soft yellow cake with a tender crumb with a perfect ratio of a lemon curd and a real vanilla buttercream filling, it was heaven. I have to say that their showstopper is really their valrhona chocolate cake!! Rich AND light at the same time, it hit all the orgasm spots. Stop in and support local small businesses! And while you're at it, donate to Pie it Forward :Betty Bakery 's way of giving back to essential workers during this pandemic by providing healthy meals and decadent desserts! Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
This cumin lamb pie was perfectly spiced. They heated up the pie and if was as if it came straight out of the oven. The place was a cozy and the staff were super kind.

Yelp
one of the worst cupcakes I've ever tasted in all my life in NYC. had a plain vanilla with frosting. the ingredients tasted like cheap frozen butter both in the batter and frosting. The frosting was literally all butter, like the cheap supermarket type. Totally tasteless. At $4.50 each, it's appalling to serve these.

Yelp
Best in BKLYn!!! Looks like nothing from the outside, but it's worth every bite, don't think twice! Everything is good Good Good Good. The best cup cake is the red velvet, the carrots cake is also one of my fave. The make cake upon request. Haven't tried the savory pies yet, but it's next on my list.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst baked goods I've had in years . I'm taking time out while tired to make sure I write this review the same day I tried it since it left a bad taste in my mouth . Literally . After taking some time to choose and with the help of the female associate , I left with a confetti cookie along with a star shaped lemon cookie and some other very thin cookie. I also bought a slice of their old fashioned cake . Altogether , about 12 bucks . Not cheap at all . It sure tasted cheap though . The confetti cookie was inedible . Must have been stale as it was hard as a rock. Even if it weren't , the flavor was also lacking . I then moved on to the lemon cookie . Chew , chew ,chew , chew and finally hit that lemon flavoring . It was easily the worst lemon cookie I've had , texture was a lot better though and it wasn't stale than the confetti . The last cookie was that super thin cookie . Harder to mess this one up and this ended up being the best of the three but didn't really give me that cookie fix based off it's lack of depth . The last thing I had was the old fashioned cake . It resembled a pie and looked incredible on display . It turned out to be just flat out gross with a strong egg-y aftertaste . I even flipped it around to taste the crust to get a different perspective and was surprised even the crust was ruined with the eggy-ness . It was downright disgusting. This place is all about looks but no substance in regards to flavor from what I see . I'm writing this one off no refunds .

Yelp
Decadent baked goods.... A delight to both peasant (poetic license) and sophisticated palate ... loved their cookies and butter cakes ... carrot cake will make a masculine muscle-head scream like a delicate female!!! Just saying

Yelp
I ordered a custom cake for daughter's birthday, which was delicious and looked great, too. It had two tiers: chocolate cake with oreo filling and yellow cake with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam. The bakery was easy to work with and able to accommodate my timeline and design preferences within a relatively short timeframe. I recommend them as a baker for a special event!

Yelp
Nice small quaint shop with nice looking items. Just had to stop in and sample. A no frills place with great tasting sweets that weren't overly sweet. Great customer service and nothing to complain about. For sure will return.

Yelp
I drove 40 minutes to get my son a red velvet cake for his birthday. I paid $75 for a 6 inch cake. It was dry, grainy, and tasted like a dry chocolate cake with vanilla frosting & a hint of cream cheese. I was extremely disappointed. My son called it the "whole wheat version of cake" I would have been better off with supermarket red velvet cake. Never wasting my money here again.

Yelp
OMG I am beyond thrilled I ordered from Betty Bakery today! I am a huge quiche fan but starting today I am a Bacon, egg and cheese pie fan! The crust is flakey and buttery , the filling is firm and the bacon is smokey and very flavorful, fantastic!! I ordered the Shepherd's pie for my husband...Im not going to lie...the Shepherds pie will not make it home...because I cant stop eating it! Also very flavorful and mashed potato crust is perfection. The coconut ring ding...wow...it is a thing of beauty. Great chocolate on the outside, pillowy soft vanilla cake with coconut filling on the inside. I will he ordering often...maybe again today!

Yelp
Betty Bakery is a tiny place which nonetheless packs a tremendous amount of baking firepower. We bought all THREE (!!) different types of their apple pie, each of which was outstanding in its own way. Their cupcakes are excellent, with frosting different than any I've ever had: a perfect balance of sweet but not TOO sweet, creamy but delicate, not overpowering. Staff is super-friendly.

Elaine C.

Yelp
I love this bakery for event cakes, birthday cakes, moments of private joy inhaling a few hand crafted ringdings. A Slice of chocolate cake makes everything better. Super friendly neighborhood bakery.

Yelp
Incredible cupcakes and cake slices! I had to go to Brooklyn for fingerprints for student teaching and I wanted to grab something sweet before heading back home. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend. The lady working the register was friendly and sweet!

Yelp
Omg my fellow yelper foodies ...... This amazing bakery has it all sweet & savory going on ..... I've know about this place for years .... always stooped in for an awesome cupcake but today to my surprise they have an entire selection of delicious mini individual savory pies .... We tried their Shepherds pie which was delicious; we tried their Beef Empanada pie another home run & their Steak & Cheese we couldn't tell ya which pie we liked better unbelievably awesome goodness real stick to your ribs especially on this rainy day .... they had another 6 varieties............ They are very satisfying & filling their pie crust bottom & top is flaky & buttery ..... we are old school Pot Pies lovers .... $ 8.00 each ... Then we tried their white coconut cake slices @ $7.95 a slice; so fresh the white cake had the perfect texture and the coconut vanilla frosting & filling is perfect not over whelming sweet you can taste the butter in their cream .... Then we tried one of their Chocolate Salted Carmel tart ... smh, if I knew how delicious this was gonna be I would have never shared this one ... the tarts crust was so buttery and the chocolate filling was divine .... Last but not least we tried two of their S'mores Chocolate Ringtings .... another home run... @ $4.50 each ... This is a small shop who puts all their love into every item they bake .... Very clean and the counter help is awesome ... We will definitely be back before the holidays with family & friends .... Thanks, Greg D.

Yelp
They sold me day old slices of cake for freshly baked price. They used to be reliable and quite wonderful.

Yelp
Ordered a red velvet cupcake and that was delicious!! I also ordered their vegan cupcakes and that's the reason why I give four stars. I felt that the vegan cupcakes could have been a little more delicious!

Yelp
Y'all. I first saw these five star reviews and thought, "no way. These people are lying." Bihhhhhhhhhhh no they aint! This food is PHENOMENAL. Rather, I should say the savory pies are phenomenal - I like them more than the sweets, which surprised me. So far, I've had the Shepherd's pie, the Brazilian chicken pie, and the Argentinian sofrito pie (do Argentinians even use sofrito? Feel like that's an AfroLatin thing? but I digress). EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE SAVORY PIES WAS FINGER LICKING GOOD. IDK who grandma MUST be chained up in the kitchen making these perfect shortcrust pies but baby....she doin her thang back there cuz these pies ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS taste delicious. As the pies are a handheld size, I am greedy and always order two. If I can't finish one, I wrap it up (loosely) in foil and heat in the oven on 400 for like 7 minutes (or until it feels hot) and they come out perfect every single time. The crust never dries out, never gets hard, and the filling still retains its deliciousness, even days later! IDK how they do it but I pray they never stop. They've made a repeat customer out of me!

Yelp
Great treats will come again Will recommend to all my fellow sweet lovers Staff was nice and chill

Yelp
I had Betty make a custom cake for my sisters baby shower and everyone was super obsessed w the cake. The design process required minimal back and forth and the cake came out looking exactly if not better than what I had hoped for. It also tasted great. It was ready on time and was also like packed very well.

Yelp
I ordered delivery through Seamless at 12pm on a Wednesday. My order arrived in under 20 minutes. I ordered a chai latte, unicorn cupcake, and carrot cake, Carrot cake: amazing texture with the raisins and chunky nuts. Sweet and smooth cream cheese frosting. $8.25 is definitely a lot for carrot cake, but it's the best carrot cake I've had in a long time. Unicorn cupcake: the cutest dessert ever! The texture and look of the different sprinkles on top and IN THE CENTER made this unicorn cupcake surprising and magical. The cake, itself, is moist and has some "unicorn" colors throughout it. The frosting has the perfect amount of sweetness. Very well balanced. $4.95 is definitely up there in price, but I think it's worth it. It's like a little edible piece of art. Chai latte: pretty good chai latte. Because of how sweet everything was, I wish I got something with less (or no) sugar. But, if you want a sweet drink, it's a good choice. It was $4.25, which is pretty comparable to Starbucks.

Therese G.

Yelp
Unfortunately Betty Bakery was rushing and very short on customer service , in the future they should just state that they are too busy to assist with custom cakes. As a professional bakery.. one would imagine they would be able to answer simple questions professionally. This was a very poor experience and wasted time
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
So disappointed. After ordering from you guys for several years, you have officially grown too big for your britches. Despite doubling your price for your cakes (which is understandable) and then critiquing us for not being able to increase our budget for the cake that we requested for our son's recent birthday, you FORGOT to write a simple "happy birthday" inscription for him! We never received a picture nor were shown the cake prior to opening it at his birthday party, since it was fully wrapped in plastic upon pick up. After we pointed out this error, rather than correct it in any way (not even a small token of an apology, a cupcake for our kid, ANYTHING!) you again blamed us, pointing out that we signed a contract that we would accept the cake as is. Seriously?!?!? DO BETTER!
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
Completed my order online and when I arrived the pick up was swift! Love the chocolate cupcakes, red velvet and any with strawberry frosting

Yelp
All I gotta say is that the RING DINGS are everything and more!!! I always get a Ring Ding with every order because they're so good: soft and moist chocolate cake, perfect not overly sweet buttercream filling covered in the best chocolate shell ever, I never want to stop eating them!! The cupcakes are always very good also, my favorites are the chocolate-chocolate and the red velvet. My 6yr old enjoys the beautiful unicorn cupcakes which have a sprinkle surprise in the middle! Their sliced packaged pound cakes are excellent especially the Pumpkin Bread omg! Super velvety and flavorful. I've also had the Banana bread and Blueberry bread which are also great. We tried the Shepherds Pie and it made me a believer!! I can't wait to go back and try their other savory pies specifically the Seafood pie! The only miss we've experienced was the Lemon Bundt Cake which was pretty bad! And it really surprises me to say that because everything else is so exceptionally good. The icing was insanely cloying sweet almost inedible and then the sweetness was followed by a very sour lemon flavor, but like really sour! I didn't understand it! Lol we had to throw away most of the cake, only able to eat the very middle, which was a shame because everything here is quite pricey. Nonetheless they have many other delicious options to keep me coming back despite they're relatively high prices.

Yelp
Picked up an iced coffee to go. Coffee was good and cooled mr down on a hot day. My fiancée had one of their chocolate pastries. It was messy but finished quickly so I must assume it was good. Service was quick. They've got a interesting assortment of savory pies which makes it an surprising yet interesting lunch spot.

Yelp
I placed an order for a customized cake for a baby shower for my cousin. The total was $400+ & I paid a deposit of $200+, I decided I wanted to pay the remaining balance the day of pickup. To start, this bakery never picks up their phone or return calls. I left numerous voicemails, stating my cousin went into labor prematurely. I contacted the bakery approx. (5) days before the event and left numerous calls to inform them that the baby shower might be canceled, requesting a callback. My cousin decided to continue with the baby shower. So I immediately called the bakery, and of course they never picked up the phone, I left a message and stated to disregard my prior message about canceling of the cake. And again, I never received a callback. Day of pickup: I called the bakery in the morning, and I was able to speak to a live person, and I asked if I could pick up the cake in the early afternoon - since the original pickup time was 11 am - the rep stated it wouldn't be an issue. I went to the bakery to get the cake & to pay my remaining balance, and there was no cake. The cashier stated there's no orders for any clients for this day. She never mentioned this over the phone when I called in the morning. The cashier/owner/baker couldn't find my invoice - and stated they have weekly meetings to discuss customers order and the baker Emily didn't mention my cake, so the staff wasn't aware of this order. It took them about 10-15min to find my invoice, which shows to me how disorganized they are. The owner Dekota and Sean aka (Zeke) was extremely apologetic due to their error, and said they would scramble something up, and put two cakes together & use someone else's decorations form another order. The owners said they would refund my deposit and deliver this new cake in person. Dekota did indeed deliver the cake and refunded my deposit in cash. He was extremely apologetic, and the cake was cute-tiny. It was nothing in comparison to the cake I initially ordered!! But at the time I was satisfied to have a "cake." We shook hands, and that was the end of that...So I thought... This baby shower had 100+ people, and everyone knew I was the one that was in charge of the cake. As my cousin is cutting...... the cake collapsed. The embarrassment I felt, I left to go to the restroom to relax my nerves...I walked back into the shower and heard people discussing how disgusting the cake was, omg. I decided to take a piece, and this is not me over exaggerating- this cake tasted spoiled, ugh!! 1 1/2 week later: Zeke (Head Baker) called/text me, requesting for a call back without giving any details to the nature of the call. I'm guessing he wanted to see how the cake was and to apologize again. At this point, I'm still distraught over this situation, and I didn't want to speak to him and wanted to forget this ever happened. He continue to send me a text, threatening to call the cops because I'm not responding to him. Again, there are no details for the nature of his call. I was never going to post a yelp about this situation until I received this text. Showed my mother the text, and she contacted the owner.... He stated that I was a thief trying to get a free cake, he was requesting for the refunded money that was given to me; due to the bakery error, to be returned to him. Zeke stated he just listened to the (1+week old voicemails) I left for the bakery. His reasoning behind this was his company was extremely busy during the week and he wasn't able to hear any of the messages on time.....THIS ISNT MY ISSUE!!! As my mother is trying to explain herself and correcting his lies, Zeke became aggressive/frustrated and told her to SHUTUP, and continue to say he will not lose in this situation and Betty Bakery will claim this as fraud to his insurance. But, isn't what he's doing fraudulent??? FYI, I have my invoice/bank statement and my phone records for all the times that I called this bakery. Please see images yelpers; I can't make this story up. #pettybakerZEKE

Yelp
Pies were really good but their prices are way too high. Loved the velvet sweet potato pie!

Yelp
I'm speechless! First of all, the loveliest woman greeted us and gave us a full and descriptive tour of every delightful goodie. We landed on a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting and a vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting... BOTH INCREDIBLE! But the real showstoppers: Twinkie and Ringding! Holy wow! Our new best bakery!

Yelp
What an exceptional and delicious red velvet cake!! We were hosting an office work anniversary for several people and wanted a 12" inch cake that not only looked good but tasted good - and we were a little worried about delivery time into Manhattan - so their suggestion to have it delivered the day before was genius. All questions were easily and quickly answered through email and the order was placed and payed for without going to the bakery. The delivery service they use is awesome - I was kept up to date with the delivery schedule. But back to the cake - because this the star! It exceeded what we thought a red velvet cake should taste like! Our office team were impressed and wanted to know where we found such a delicious cake. Thanks Betty Bakery for making our event special! When was the last time you had a cake that rocked?!! Go there or order online - you won't be disappointed. #bettybakery

Yelp
Betty Bakery makes incredible pies and cakes. But above all, the chef is fearless. I searched for weeks for a baker to make a cake that had not been served in 20 years. Many of the other great chefs in NYC declined the task since they thought the Hazelnut Dacquoise (the signature dessert of Windows on the World) was too complicated and too hard to make. Betty Bakery took the challenge and nailed it. A room full of foodies who loved the Hazelnut Dacquoise from Windows were almost in tears when the masterpiece was brought out at the end of a magical night. The cake was spot on in appearance and taste. I can't thank BB enough.

Yelp
The carrot cake is DELICIOUS! The 6" cake allowed for 10 hearty slices (get the 8" if you have more people, or to allow for seconds!). Great customer service - 5 stars!

Yelp
Dropped by with the girls on the way home from swimming class. The items on display looked delicious. Bought a mermaid decorated cupcake for my eldest, the husband had a slice of cheesecake and I had a slice of strawberry short cake and a "Twinkie". Everything was good, but wish the "Twinkie" had more filling. I will return to try other goodies.

Yelp
A cute little store on Atlantic Ave. The lady working there is soooooo nice and they have a huge variety of sweets and treats that look adorable . We tried a homemade Twinkie and it was the perfect combination of moist and bouncy vanilla scented sponge cake and rich dreamy cloud of cream . Glad we don't live nearby else I'd be there everyday!!!! :)

Yelp
Pretty disappointing experience ordering a custom cake for my girlfriend's birthday. On top of them clearly forgetting about my order and then scrambling to prepare it while I waited out front, the final result looked like a kid in home economics class hastily scribbled on an ugly piece of fondant. No thanks -- I could have done better myself.

Yelp
It's been 6 weeks of lockdown and missed birthday cakes, dinners out and non-home cooked food. So how thrilled was I to see Betty Bakery back at it and offering pickup!! So far I've housed their chocolate cake and carrot cake - huge slices that are deliciously moist, not too sweet, amazing frosting and some of the top 10 cakes I've ever had. You will not be disappointed but it is definitely a cheat day treat. Next up was their savory pies which are just as good and feel slightly less sinful at their 4 inch diameter size. This may become an expensive quarantine habit but it's totally worth it, and can cover breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also the baker behind the counter (I think he's the owner) is the nicest person you'll meet (or maybe that's the social distancing / being stuck with my family talking).

Yelp
I must say that I love this place and I am so grateful that I live approximately 13 miles from this bakery. Any closer...I would definitely over indulge. Purchased a cake for my daughter's birthday to have cut at a pizzeria. While my daughter was at the spa, I searched on Yelp for bakeries and choose Betty's because she was not too far from my location. I called and inquired if they had cakes available for last minute purchase and I was informed that they did. When I arrived, I encountered a cute little bakery that took me some place else other than Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. There were treats, cupcakes, decorated Oreos...Anyway, my daughter loves carrot cake and so do I, lol. Everything was perfect, the frosting, the flavorful cake, the texture , the service and the price. I highly recommend this place; they also sell sliced cakes.

Yelp
One day I was walking down Atlantic Avenue and I was stopped in my tracks by a beautiful window display. I just had to stop and admire the rare beauty of this little shop. As I entered the bakery, I was greeted warmly by the young lady at the cash register. Every pastry behind the counter looked absolutely delicious, and I was dealing with the horrible predicament of choosing one pastry. The young lady at the cash register was very patient with me until I made my choice. After a few minutes of contemplating, I choose a Lemon Tart with strawberries on top. I took my desert home with me so that I could enjoy it in the comfort of my own home. The pastry was amazing from start to finish, all the flavors blended perfectly together. I was completely satisfied and I felt that the tart was well worth price. Try the red velvet Halloween cupcakes !!
