Google
We had chili and chicken strips. The chili was good but not hot enough for me. The chicken strips had too much breading for my taste. The service was ok. The servers were nice. I liked the military atmosphere, especially since the restaurant is connected to an American legion outpost.

We decided to try something new for a quick bite before a concert here in Savannah and were not disappointed by this little hidden gem. This is not in the River Street area and worth the look for it. :) Betty Bombers is connected to the American Legion and full of memorabilia from the war and reminds me of and old fashion diner. I had the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Fries and they were delicious. A great portion (I had the smaller order) of fries covered in buffalo chicken and blue cheese (next time I will ask for lighter blue cheese) and wonderful ranch. Would definitely order again. My hubby had the The Armed Neutrality burger, which has sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese with fries and it was very good. Love the atmosphere of this place!

If you’re looking for a 60s themed restaurant with war memorabilia, you should definitely come to Betty bombers. Don’t order the sparkling water bc it’s just tap in a bubbled cup. Lol. Food was very mediocre. The staff was friendly, and attentive. The milkshake slap.

Google
Nostalgic and fun! Great WWII decor and amazing hamburgers. Singles are ig and they aren't stingy on fries! Thoroughly enjoyed it

Google
We loved this place! It gave the feeling of being back in time with all the feels of yesteryear, good ol southern charm, and great service! Very Clean with a great atmosphere. The best burgers we’ve had in a long time and we had the stuffed French toast as a dessert, all so yummy! Highly recommend giving this lovely diner a try! ~Christy

Google
One server. Got really busy once we ordered. She did her best. The food was good. The milkshakes were AMAZING !

Google
Blitz burger and mint chocolate chip shake were excellent, quesadilla was excellent fries and onion rings nice and crispy. Service was exceptional. Prices were very reasonable. Great historical site of Birthplace of Eighth Air ForceWWII Alcohol is just steps away from American Legion bar in the same hall. We will be back in October for annual reunion of second generation WWII 467th Bombardment Group!

Google
I ate there twice. Did take out one time and dined in once. The pastrami sandwich was so good! Lean, lots of flavor. Had a burger second visit, and it was really yummy. The service both times were excellent. It is located in the VFW building so be aware if using GPS. It is decorated as an old time diner with 1940's military posters, photos etc.

Yelp
This place might not be on the list of places to eat when you're in Savannah but it absolutely should be! Been coming here 4 years, multiple times per year. Im sad this is first time. Missed opportunity. Come here for great Americana food with southern hospitality experience like none other. What an amazing place! All American food and vibe, with World War I & II promo posters, plane photos and more. Based in an American Legion hall, its an old fashioned style diner. USA flavors all the way, with specialty burgers, hotdogs & fries. Plus amazing sandwich selection. Theres a bar inside in next room, where you can get a drink and bring here if you want. Betty Bombers is diner/soda shop vibes. The service is southern hospitality at its finest, and the food is great! Split a victory sized steak & cheese fries, which is the best thing i never knew i needed in my life! Hot turkey club sandwich, so generously sized we had leftovers. Milkshakes are absolutely amazing! Highly recommend! We took ours to go, and walked around Forsythe Park with them which is super close by.

Yelp
BB aims to elevate traditional bar food (burgers, wings, etc.) and serve you the freshest version possible. We enjoyed the burger, dog, and onion rings. All were served fresh, hot, and well seasoned. We'd ask that BB please consider a more efficient order and delivery system. Solution: hang an "Order here" sign by the front register, have two servers on the floor, and set up a self-serve water/place setting/condiment station. We (along with a few other patrons) were beyond confused as to where/when to sit, where to order, and whom to ask for assistance. One server was working the entire floor and doing her best to keep up with *post-ordering requests.

Yelp
We had such a phenomenal accidental lunch here! We absolutely loved the cheese curds! The milkshake was exceptional and my burger with blue cheese was out of this world. The decor is excellent! It makes you feel like you are taking a step back in time. My friend loved their loaded fries! There was an array of seating, from booths to tables. It did appear that only two people were working and they were slammed, but it did not bother us. Highly recommend stopping in here!

Yelp
I love this place. It's like I went through a time warp. It's got that Johnny Rockets vibe but authentic. It's not pretending to be old. There are rifles in the windows and a bayonet I think. You can sit at the counter, order at the cash register or sit down and get table service. It's a great place if you love burgers and fries. I ordered the in house veggie burger. It's made of white beans. It was pretty good. As my side I ordered fries. The fries are amazing!!!!! My lunch mates ordered Philly cheese steak looking sandwiches that are served with what looks like nacho cheese. If you are hungry or like to split dishes this is the best place to go. I could have split my burger and fries with someone. It was definitely enough for at least two people. It's a fun place and I'm excited to Go back and try something else.

Yelp
Love this place! Burgers are a littleee pricy, but the portions are huge. I just got the classic, and it was super juicy and the bun was perfectly toasted. Not my favorite kind of fry, but was still tasty. Friend said milkshake and cheeses take were great as well. The food came out very quick too. Great for a quick lunch on Forsyth.

Yelp
This is an amazing restaurant it is located at an American legion post the restaurant has amazing burgers and milkshakes there fries absolutely awesome.

Aynzhanae H.

Yelp
The food looked great but we ended up leaving before receiving it. No one in the kitchen wears gloves. Man on the grill was wiping his sweat with bare hands and going right back to food. Other man picked fries up off the counter (bare hands) and put them on a plate to serve.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a quick service place where you order at the counter and pay and get a number. The staff will bring the food to your table, even for takeout. Service is great, very helpful and friendly. We got two items to go and one soft drink. It's help yourself fountain machine. We ordered Bbq pulled pork sandwich and Cheesesteak with fries. Food comes out hot in about 10 mins. They are pretty good. My only complaint is I wish there is more cheese on the cheesesteak. Next time i'll ask for extra. The restaurant is in a building sharing the floor with offices and other business. Interior design is world war 2 theme. I thought it looks like a little cute military diner during war time. Overall next time we're back in town we'll be back here trying their burgers. Our tour guide said it was his personal favorite.

Yelp
Betty Bombers has the best homemade garden burger I have ever tasted. My partner and I also shared a chocolate milkshake that was so good! Other diners were commenting on how good their regular burgers are as well. I love the retro vibe and it's right by Forsyth Park. The service was friendly and fast.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, good food!!! We enjoyed it BUT inconsistent! Didn't give me and my daughter the same milkshakes. Mine had caramel on the inside of the glass and whipped cream on top. Hers had neither. Very disappointing, for her.

Yelp
Ordered our food to go as we had our two labs with us. Went for a cheeseburger with lettuce, onion, tomato, a side of fries and the pastrami sandwich. Nothing ticks me off more then when a SANDWICH shop can't handle the simple requirements needed to create a satisfying meal. The pastrami had way too much bread in relation to the other ingredients. If that wasn't bad enough, one half had less meat, cheese and onion than it's partner. How hard is it to equally distribute the fillings? Can't you find bread that is better sized and balanced for your creations? The burger was infinitely better in that department but it didn't blow us away. The fries were so salty we couldn't even decipher that it was a potato we were eating. This establishment might be a big hit with the younger crowd, but sadly our experience here will not warrant a second visit.

Yelp
My children had so much fun with the straws that came with the kids meals. It kept them occupied until the food came out.

Yelp
Oh, Oh, This place is going out of business. I gave this place a bad review two years ago. Since then, i have been occasionally going back. I have a total of 19 check-ins at Betty's, before the review and after. Betty's greatly improve and started serving hot fries after my first review. I was getting ready to give Betty's a good, updated review until this! Last Saturday, I went for lunch and noticed an obvious change. A restaurant in decline! Service and food took a downward turn. I have seen this before in a struggling restaurants. They are SKIMPING! Skimping on service and worst of all on the food. Trying to cut corners! Bad, Bad sign.................... I first noticed this when at the counter ordering my food. I saw a plate leave the kitchen and immediately noticed a smaller plate than in my previous experiences and a substantial amount of less French fries (see attached pictures of my plate). I sat down and found the napkin holders on the tables were GONE! I normally order the Pastrami sandwich which always has a good amount of meat. I received my sandwich and to quote and old Wendy's commercial: "WHERE IS THE BEEF?" There was a meniscal amount of pastrami in the center of the sandwich plumped up high trying to make it look bigger. No meat towards the ends (Picture attached). Glad for the lesser amount of fries! Because they were COLD and not worth eating! I asked the server for napkins because they were none to me found. Upon my leaving, I noticed two things: 1. Most tables were napkin less or just a few overused napkins. 2. Less customers than normal. Hum, go figure...... Well, I really hate to see this place go under. They have a GREAT ambiance and location. Their food has always been just Ok. Cold fries and way over cooked dry hamburgers. But all in all, I hate to see struggling restaurants. But this place has all the warning signs. I just wish that they would understand that cutting back on service and quality of food is not the way to survive!

Yelp
Step back into time as Betty Bombers, located in the American Legion Hall, has an old 1940s diner vibe with the old standards filling the air waves -Sentimental Journey and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy - vinyl seating, Formica tables and 1940s pin up girls and WWII posters decorate the walls. My single patty burger was cooked perfectly, my requested pepper Jack cheese honored, the lettuce, tomato and onion were fresh and my order finished with an American Flag tooth pick! The skin on fries were yummy! The drinks are self serve. Counter service was friendly and helpful where you'll receive a table order number and they bring the food to you. In addition to burgers and sodas they have milk shakes, Root Beer floats, nachos, hotdogs, tacos and a variety of sandwiches.

Yelp
What an adorable place!!!! It's family owned and operated, as evidenced by the 9 year-old who expertly rung us up and his sister who helped bring out our food. The decor is WWII pictures and ads. Very interesting!! The food was fabulous! The cheese steaks with provolone hit the spot. The burger with Swiss and mushrooms was delish! We will be back for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
When you're walking by you've really got to look for the entrance to those restaurant which is at the American legion building. The decor in ambience is very world war II Air Force throwback style. I really liked all the memorabilia posters that they had and airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Very very nice wait staff, excellent suggestion for the burger and fries. The food is not very photogenic when delivered to your table but I assure you that it is delicious! I got the burger that's got the jalapeno jam and bacon and pepper jack cheese and if I'm in the area I would definitely go back again!

Yelp
Great service, atmosphere and food. Wonderful to see all the history in pictures on the wall.

Yelp
Decent food, decent prices, good milkshakes! Atmosphere was decent as well and people were friendly. We were looking for something simple and decided to try this place. Daughter got steak and cheese fries. The portion wasn't very big for ~$14. She enjoyed them. The steak was thin, chopped steak you'd find on a philly cheesesteak. Wife got a chicken sub. It was really good. Son got a Beachhead burger. It came with a slice of fried Spam on it. He loved it. If I ever visit again I will get the Thai garlic wings. Those were recommended by multiple people but I wasn't very hungry. We finished it off with some milkshakes. Family enjoyed them. There are a lot of restaurants to visit in Savannah. Not sure if I would run back to this place but I'd visit again.
google avatar

Tanya J.

Yelp
I think I need to give this place another chance. It was a bit packed, and young children brought us our food. I personally did not like that, mostly because of OSHA standards with food handling. The Thai garlic wings weren't good, but the hot ones were! The milkshakes were delicious! I think that was my favorite part of our meal. Not pictured was a hot dog. It was huge! The burger was also just all right. Cute little place to eat, but not really my favorite.
google avatar

Atsirk S.

Yelp
Excellent homemade veggie burger!!! I highly recommend! And of course the fries! !!!!!
google avatar

Maria Jose A.

Yelp
I loved the war time diner theme. The portions are large except for the wings which were a little small. The food was very good. The fries were crispy perfection. The chicken in the buffalo friends was small bits instead of larger chicken tenders. The service was great, make sure to ask the availability of what you're thinking of order because they did run out of onion rings after we placed our ordered. Overall a nice place to eat especially if you are thinking of budget friendly places to eat near the river.
google avatar

Candace S.

Yelp
Inside the American Legion Post 135, this classic diner had it all. Lots of WWII memorabilia and news prints. Older people coming and going to a private event via the elevator in the back. The shake was amazing. The burger and fries, delicious. The place was full of locals. The cash bar next door was great too.
google avatar

Emily E.

Yelp
Retro, 50s themed, no-frills diner located inside the American Legion. Quick service, and funny and friendly staff. He made great recommendations as far as burgers. Burger was cooked perfectly, and lovedddd the heat of both burgers. The bacon jam was absolutely delicious. Milkshakes were good too, strawberry was definitely the winner!!
google avatar

Yelp
the food use to be better, the employees used to be friendlier, seems like that's everywhere nowadays though. I came in on a Saturday and grabbed some chicken, looked in the kitchen and I saw three young men just standing around on their phones talking, one young man with long dreads yelling profanity and another gentleman standing there who just throwed his hands in the air and walked off, I cant say I blame him, looked fed up. the dining area is cool and there was a couple friendly girls who were great, I didn't catch they're names but the redhead greeted me with a smile from ear to ear and the blonde was making some yummy looking milkshakes. chicken was whatever but its chicken, customer service was excellent but the men in the kitchen just ruined it for me, you could hear them yelling amongst themselves while your sitting down trying to eat. I can't even blame management I don't think, it seems like everywhere you go the level of work ethic has just dropped substantially. It's sad.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
We ordered a cheesesteak + fries, the blackout burger + fries, kids hotdog + fries, and kids mini corn dogs + fries. Everything was really delicious, and the service was good. Staff was nice and helpful. We would recommend this restaurant! Very kid friendly as well!
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
This is actually a pretty cool place to go if you like world war II memorabilia. The menu is very American and has lots and lots of choices. However, the cheeseburger I ordered really just didn't have a lot of taste to the meat. Granted, it was one of the biggest burgers I've had for the phenomenal price, but it just wasn't there in the way of taste. Also, the fries that we got looked as if they were hours old fries reheated... they just had that shriveled up look to them.

James J.

Yelp
This was the worst food and service we had the whole week on our vacation. Ordered beef quesadillas, tasted like grease and nothing else. French fries were so hard I couldn't eat them. 5 of us dined in and only two of us ate more than half of it. I ate a few bites and stopped it was so bad. Also I had to get up and ask for napkins and silverware and was told they were in bins at the end of the counter, I found a total of 3 forks for 5 people. When I told the waitress it was the worst meal we had and we didn't eat most of it she smiled and said thank you. No discount no apology for the food. Do yourself a favor and go to McDonald's. I went back to our Airbnb and had cereal
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
Sorry. I do not understand the 5 stars unless you're new. Food is non comparable with prior management. No queso? Seriously? McDonaghs it is from here on out.
google avatar

Sherry W.

Yelp
Cute casual place with great food and super friendly staff. Had the burgers and fries and would recommend. Would go back again.
google avatar

Anastasia W.

Yelp
This is a great old fashioned restaurant! To the food all the way to the decor! I ended up getting the blackout which was definitely a knock out! The blue cheese was amazing flavor on the burger and the fries were so good! Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Dale D.

Yelp
Pretty cool little place with early war themed environment. The service is friendly and while not a huge selection, there is a good selection. I really enjoyed this place and look forward to going again.
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
Just putting this out there, one of my favorite spots I have been to on a vacation. Food: I was recommended this because the wings I heard were amazing and boy I was glad I was given the recommendation. The shake was huge and satisfying. Aesthetic: all WW2 / Korean bomber themed makes this such a unique experience , especially with the 50s and 60s diner aesthetic. Service; though I dealt with them barely, they seemed nice.

Jeanne S.

Yelp
So disappointed in what used to be one of my favorite places. Sadly, new ownership has ruined a good thing. I have been a few times since the change and wanted to give them a chance, but just too many changes. The menu board has been taken down off of the wall, self serve soda fountain has been moved behind the counter. I ordered iced tea, but they had not made any. They did away with the baskets and served the food on long skinny rectangular plates. The baskets were part of the charm. The burger was disappointing. The buns are different and they were apparently out of pickles because they put two slices of cucumber on top instead. Sorry, but I won't be back.

Derek T.

Yelp
Anger doesn't describe it. The disappointment is profound and unyielding. This was once a gem and whomever took over is serving disappointing sub-"state fair" quality cheesesteaks and frozen fries for $18 not including tip... Nothing is the same in terms of quality or taste. Please somebody go get the old owners/managers/cooks and teach these people how to do this properly. No fault of the kids, glad they are learning, but this is gross.
google avatar

Haliahelani S.

Yelp
Great place, friendly staff :) Food is always on point! Worth the wait even when they're busy!!

Ed T.

Yelp
Burger was bland, fries cold. Chocolate shake tasteless. Water tasted like a fart. Service was great. Person at counter super friendly! Fast service. Ambience was just sad. A few posters on the wall and disjointed military props. Modern music throwing off any potential retro vibe. Decor just hodgepodge with no real retro esthetic to match the name. Dirty floors. Lesson learned!
google avatar

Annie M.

Yelp
Really good chicken fingers! Great price for the meal. I'm always looking for a good deal- $8.99 for 5 tenders and fries. We also got nachos- it's a better deal than chips and queso with salsa! They did forget our ketchup and sour cream on our takeout order. Always look in the bag!!! Very friendly on the phone!! Cute inside. Has a vintage airplane theme. Would be fun for kids- of all ages!!
google avatar

Phillip S.

Yelp
Wonderful spot near Forsyth Park. I'm always a fan of a limited menu. My wife said the burger was the best she's had in a couple years. I had the Ultimate Chicken Club, high recommend. Service was great.
google avatar

Angel C.

Yelp
Delicious WWII inspired diner inside the American Legion. The Salisbury Steak sandwhich was awesome, Cheese Burger was great, Cod BLT was tasty, and abundance about of fries! Definitely have to stop by and enjoy!
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
For my first meal in Savannah, we are off to a good start. The majority of our meals plan to be "Southern food," but my mom craved a burger. It was such an awesome "patriotic" meal, as this place is World War 2 themed, and it is located in the American Legion. The food was really good. I ordered the pulled pork and queso fries. The mixture of BBQ sauce and cheese sauce was unhealthfully amazing. May have taken a year off my life, but worth it. I also got a grilled cheese because....vacation. My mother said her burger was delicious. The setting was amazing. There was an American legion event going, so the place was hopping. It took awhile, but everything was brought out piping hot. We probably won't return due to wanting more southern food, but definitely worth a trip if you have time to relax in a WW2 burger joint
google avatar

Demor'a B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! I've enjoyed every experience and I've never had bad service or food! The team is always welcoming, willing to give recommendations and accommodating! I recommend the : Thai Chili Chicken Wings Nachos Ultimate Chicken Sub Burgers Cod BLT You really can't go wrong with any choice and it's not pricey for the quality! It's definitely worth a try... I always start eating before I can take a picture but I'll try to update next time!

Yelp
It wasn't the best burger I've ever eaten but at the end of the day, an hour before closing, guess it was better than nothing. Things were rushed as they were trying to close with lots and lots of people coming in. We took ours to go to help them out. Everyone who was there seemed to be enjoying themselves and the decor was cute. Bar next door and we were told you could get your food and eat it there also if you wanted.

Bob C.

Yelp
This place is The Bomb! I loved the WWII era decor, including the large scale model planes suspended overhead. The ordering line was a little slow but it was worth the wait. Our group had time to chat and look at all the cool decorations, from posters to artwork, including what looked like blueprints for a B-17 bomber. They specialize in various hamburgers with cool names and a good 6 oz piece of meat, cooked through as they say. The shakes are delicious too but a little pricey. And there are a number of other pub food choices on the menu. The day we were there Saturday they seemed slightly understaffed but did good keeping up with the demand. I'll be back again one day. Note: it would be helpful to put a roll of paper towels on the tables to save people from having to go back to the front when they are busy.

Yelp
Good food , loved the Philli cheese steak. Manager supplied us with free ice for our cooler. Went the extra mile.

Yelp
Cute, retro-themed (WWII) diner in the American Legion building. My wife and I walked in on a cold, windy Saturday afternoon, after having spent time across the way at the Farmers Market in Forsyth Park. Originally walked in looking for something warm to drink and a quick bite to eat. No table service, so we walked up to the counter to order. We were informed that they didn't serve coffee or any other hot/warm drinks, so we settled for something warm to eat. My wife ordered a cup of chile ($6) and I ordered the Veggie Tacos without the shredded cheese ($11). The tacos were served with a side of chips and salsa. We paid for our meals at the counter and grabbed a table. After we sat down, our food was brought to us when it was ready. There was no other service offered. The food itself was absolutely delicious. I almost went with a three-star rating due to the lack of table service and coffee, (and whoever heard of a diner that didn't serve coffee?!), but ultimately decided on four stars based on the food itself.
google avatar

Mari H.

Yelp
I loved the 1940's atmosphere and propaganda posters lining the walls, as well as the old-school aircraft hanging from the ceilings. I ordered the Mustang burger, which is topped with cheddar cheese, bbq sauce, and fried onions. The burger was very tasty, and I would definitely say you should go to this place mainly for the burgers, as that's what it's primarily known for.
google avatar

Sterling J.

Yelp
One of the best places in Savannah for an American style lunch. The decor is so interesting with the wartime WWII pieces and ads around the restaurant. The service here was great and I loved how the waitress dressed like in the women in the time period. It is also one of the best places to get a good milkshake!
google avatar

G C.

Yelp
Good hamburger! Chili was very good too. Clean, friendly owner. We would go back! The decor was interesting. Parking was not a problem.
google avatar

Randy W.

Yelp
In the VFW with a great atmosphere of WW2 posters and 1940s music. Had burger and fries which was well priced. Large portions.
