Love it here! Their pops are always fantastic but I recently tried their pickle lemonade slushie and it was a delight! Savory, sweet, and delish! They’re always adding such fun things to their menu- never a dull visit!

betty's has the best homemade ice pops, shave ice, vegan gelato, and authentic swedish candy. the staff is always amazing and helpful with making tough decisions. the quality of ingredients hasn't waned over the past 10+ years. every new limited edition flavor is better than the last. betty's has most refreshing and delicious treats on ap's boardwalk

We’ve been loyal customers for years, visiting an average of 10 times each season. Unfortunately, this visit will be our last. It’s disappointing to see the quality go downhill—replacing ice cream with water ice in the ice cream sandwiches is just plain gross. Cutting corners like this might save money in the short term, but it’s definitely costing you longtime customers. Ice pop is pure sugar water with no flavor

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I really appreciated how they were extremely accommodating they were for my allergies. Because of my allergies, I was only able to choose from two items, but they were extremely apologetic about it, and they helped me find the item I liked the best. I also didn’t have to take my Lactaid pills. This is the first time in a while. That ice cream didn’t make my stomach hurt.

First and last time coming to Betty's. It was really hot in the store than outside the store. We got the avocado 🥑 pineapple ice cream and it had so much sweetener in it. It was disgusting. We threw it in the trash. The place didn't look very clean either. Never coming back her!

Incredible experience! Everything hand made from scratch using quality ingredients. This business has ethics you can feel good about, biodegradeable packaging, all natural flavors, and most importantly these lovely business owners are on the right side of history. I tried their Dubai bar back in May during the vegan festival and honestly it was the best thing there! It was delicious! Next time im in the area, i will visit the store for their watermelon pops. As someone with a dairy allergy who loves animals and believes in human right, I really appreciate that EVERYTHING is vegan! Congrats on going viral! I hope yall do well!!

This place is so fun! It's right in Convention Hall. I was overheating and needed something to cool off. I went with a shaved ice-- you can select up to 3 flavors for $6. It was very refreshing! They have a ton of flavors and also have soft serve and other treats.

After wandering around the beach and boardwalk at Asbury Park, sometimes you need to cool off. Tucked inside the Asbury Park Convention Hall (right near the entrance) is Betty's Icebox (they also have a truck on the other side of the building in the food truck area). Betty's has several cool confections like ice pops and (my favorite) shaved ice! They also have fresh popped popcorn (complete with olive oil and seasonings). Betty's is a small shop with a long counter where you order and where the staff is stationed. The other side has a small counter space but it's mostly taken up by products like candy. Seating is mostly set up outside the shop in a partly fenced off area. On this particular visit I picked up some popcorn and seasoned it with olive oil and garlic salt. It was really yummy and man, you really can't beat fresh popped! The feature item for me was the shaved ice which is freshly made to order. I ordered a lime and watermelon flavor combination. I am trying to watch my sugar intake so I ordered a small but *holy cow* the thing was *huge*! It was easily enough for two people to share and it made for a beautiful serving. The shaved ice is served in a cup that then sits inside holes carved into the tables outside. It's a fantastic way to keep the treat stable without having to use a gigantic bowl. The watermelon/lime combination was delicious but it does get really sweet towards the bottom where the syrup condenses. No joke, you could easily take the remaining syrup and add it to a seltzer to make a soda! I really enjoyed Betty's and look forward to visiting again in the future!

PROS: This place is 100% healthy. They don't use real milk only almond, oat, and soy. The staff is nice and hard working and the prices are decent CONS: Their menu is scattered all over the place while their floor is sticky. It's also very cramped and they need to work faster because the line gets really long OVERALL: Nice place for you to get a healthy treat but do not go in middle of the day

Betty's icebox is always a nice treat after a day at the beach! I've really enjoyed their ice pops recently. I've tried the shaved ice in the past and the portion is huge! They have a lot of different treats at the store.

Located inside the Asbury Park convention center, this cute little store has frozen popsicles, shaved ice, and shaved ice cream. I tried the sweet milk shaved ice cream. I hate writing this but my shaved ice cream was not that good. The texture was weird and it had no flavor. It was like eating frozen skim milk. Maybe the shaved ice is better? I'll give that a try next time.

I go Asbury Park very often but yesterday was the first time I tried Betty's because I had my two young grandsons with me. They wanted ice cream but one of them is lactose intolerant and we were happily surprised to find that Betty's gelato is dairy free! It's a little expensive for the size we got but it was worth it. The service was fine except that the young man couldn't explain to my inquisitive grandson exactly what the difference is between gelato and ice cream. The boys loved their treats and we will definitely go back!

It was excellent!!! There are a multitude of vegan options to choose from. My wife had gelato, my son had an ice pop, and I had the vanilla and chocolate swirl soft serve on a cone (stole the show!!!!)

I love stopping by Bettys Icebox for a hot chocolate after a chilly walk on the boardwalk. In past years, they've offered almond milk hot chocolate, but they now serve the oat milk version. I love that there is a vegan hot chocolate option!! I ordered mine with peppermint and whipped cream. It was thick, the flavor was very festive, and there also 2 marshmallows even though I didn't ask for them hahah, but it was still good. My boyfriend ordered the plain hot chocolate, and the oat flavor was definitely strong, but he still enjoyed. The price is a bit high, but it's worth it on a cold day!

To top off a lovely beach afternoon, my companion was set on finding shave ice as her boardwalk treat. After a couple short laps on the boards, we kept finding ice cream, but no luck. Our luck changed when we spotted someone savoring a mammoth pastel scoop of ice. She kindly directed us to Betty's, and I'm glad she did! The spot is conveniently tucked in the Asbury Park beach convention center open air market, and had handy social distance signage and stanchions directing us how to safely enter and exit the shop. Once inside, it was a delight for the senses. The freezer displays showcased their in-store made ice pops and ice cream sandwiches, along with a variety of sorbets and vegan ice cream. She chose pink lemonade shave ice and was pleased with its pretty presentation in a plastic doily shaped cup with paper straw and tiny wooden tasting spoon. Pretty and mostly eco friendly! The reason I'm giving 5 stars is the shave ice was freshly shaved, had a natural, bright taste and no creepy saccharine syrup. A treat a mom can feel good about. The only downside with the serving dish/choices were pretty, but pretty darn impractical. While I love how paper straws are better for the environment, they get soggy and lose all function quickly. The wooden spoon was too tiny to be useful and she struggled to use it and soon abandoned it. Finally, the plastic cup didn't hold the liquid in and the slightest tip sent all the lemonade straight down her shirt. Overall, I hope Betty's rethinks the packaging and keeps its tasty recipes. Final note- they were projecting some kind of Sailor Moon knockoff in the store and it added some cool hipster ambiance. Enjoy!

Love Betty's. They have so many creative concoctions. Shaved ice, ice pops, frozen bananas, ice cream sandwiches, cotton candy, and an extensive candy selection. Every season they have a new unique offering. Keep an eye out on instagram for their latest & greatest. Many vegan options as well. Soft serve is made with oat milk. Betty's is a must while visiting the boardwalk!

When I tell you ... I don't even know how to begin. So we decided to come to the beach because it was 511 degrees outside. Walking through the convention atrium, I was only looking to purchase some cold water. We got to the end and saw the most charming little shop. First off, the young ladies - their customer service is BEYOND outstanding!!! Second off - their patience is BEYOND measure!!! And finally - the product - Lawd have mercy!!! That has to be the absolute BEST shaved iced I've had in my entire life!!! They made extra small portions (which were still huge) for my 5 and 6 year olds and my nephew and I also had one. The flavors were: Pink Lemonade, Grape, Mango, Pineapple respectively. They were so amazing that we even went BACK after we left the beach for more!!! Listen here!!!

I love Betty's! They had such a large selection of pops, shaved ice, candy, cookie dough, and soft serve! All of their house made products are vegan, some of their retail candy is not. I had their amazing chocolate coconut milk soft serve. It was light, rich, and delicious. It was very chocolatey but had an essence of coconut as well. I couldn't stop raving about it! It's unbelievably delicious.

Honestly, I'm actually not the biggest shaved ice fan. I like it, but I never really crave it or go out of my way to find some, but my friend I was with wanted to try and I was intrigued by the "crowned best shaved ice in the country by the Food Network" sign so why not? I'm glad I did! The place exceeded my expectations. My issue with shaved ice is that it usually either never has enough flavor or it's saturated in too much, but Betty's found the perfect in between and it was delicious! We tried a shaved ice with three different flavors. I can't remember exactly which ones we tried, but I think it was strawberry, coconut, and lime, and it blended together so well. They also have super cute tables that perfectly fit the shaved ice cups, which is a plus. You bet I'd come back here next time I'm in Asbury Park!

A happy place for the Lactose Intolerant! Their offerings include cold treats that are dairy free and made with good ingredients. On our first visit, we tried shaved sweet cream with a topping of fresh mango (real mango, not some syrupy goo). While enjoying that, I noticed an ice pop made with avocado and vowed to try it on our next jaunt to Asbury. Today was the day. The pop was composed of pineapple and avocado, frozen into a traditional bar - and that's it. It was delightful! Pineapple was the dominant flavor, and the avocado gave it some creaminess. Yabba dabba do!

Eh 2 stars for the service. She was great. The I cream cream not so great. Boyfriend got the salted pretzel. They should of called It the stale pretzel. I got cookie dough. Didn't taste good and not refreshing. We threw it out after two bites. Waste if $12

I absolutely love betty's icebox. It's a must when visiting asbury park board walk. My favorite is the thai tea!! Waiting for it to be a soft serve again!!!

What a find. This ice place makes the most beautiful creations and they taste terrific. Hidden next to the convention hall this gem is a must visit.

Last Saturday spending a warm Feb day at the beach , we had a craving for a soft serve so stopped by here inside the convention center Was excited to see so many vegan version but unfortunately was disappointed with the vegan soft serve- it was more like ice than soft serve and did not have much strawberry flavor. Surprising as I expected to be good based on number of people inside. Hoping our experience was one off but not sure if I would try again. I would have gone on that day to provide feedback in person but had already left the place to walk towards downtown

Generally, I like this store. But this past Saturday I was in there, as well as another couple. A young woman greeted us, then disappeared. She came back out with another woman, they did something under the counter for several minutes while we stood there. Then they went back into the kitchen. The other couple walked out. I waited another minute, saw them all talking in the kitchen and then walked out as well. As I said, I usually like this place, but they aren't busy enough to ignore paying customers!

This was our first time there after an afternoon at the beach. The options are fantastic. The flavor was delicious! I was so impressed by this vegan gelato. There were 6 of us and other flavors had were piña colada, Birthday cake, strawberry pop tart, oatmeal and cookies and peanut butter and pretzels. They were all outstanding. The richness of almost all of the flavors were great. My son said he would have liked a little more pineapple flavor in the piña colada but all in all definitely worth a visit!

My sister and her family drove from Northern NJ all the way to Asbury Park not to go to the beach but to go to Betty's for shaved ice. That says more about the place than any review I can write. Granted, $5 for some frozen water and syrup isn't cheap but damn is it good. I loved my root beer/ vanilla ice so much that I considered going back for seconds. Yeah, it was that awesome. Ice is pulverized almost to the consistency of cotton candy and available in one or a mixture of many different flavors. They also have candy and some other stuff but that's not why you go there. It's about the ice, stupid! With so many frozen dessert choices along the boardwalk it's good to know that something so simple and old school reigns supreme. Love you, Betty. Love you so damn much!

Best place on the boardwalk to grab a tasty treat. Staff is extremely helpful and nice. They offer a wide range of sweets for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend stopping by!

The worker at the time was very sweet and welcoming! There are an assortment of flavors for shaved ice and a lot of vegan options there was even edible vegan cookie dough available. I was very impressed by the different options. The shaved ice was plentiful for a small so you really get what you pay for. The decorations inside are very cute. Highly recommend on a hot day. It is inside the building so it's a good place to cool off after laying in the sun!

Still speaking of sweets... One word: Best choco-covered peanuts and caramels I've tried so far, and the guys love the sugar candies and gummies here. And that's saying something when you've gorged on the real Haribo bears and other gummies from Germany, which doesn't use high fructose corn syrup and artificial food colors... Final word: Ice pops and shaved ice. We tried the pineapple, strawberry, watermelon, coconut, coffee, vanilla, butter beer. And surely no one's stopping you from having everything... Extra words: Banana pops. Frozen, choco-covered banana pops. You do the math, meaning logic... Additional note: I just hope the candy containers are regularly cleaned and the scoopers washed everyday, because the kids, you know, big and small and some of whom with itchy throats and sticky hands... Other than that, scoop away.

Such a cute unique little place, inside of the asbury park convention hall. They have awesome treats: ice pops, vegan gluten free chocolates, popcorn. I visit every time I come to asbury park, which is basically every summer weekend. Spur of the moment trip a couple of weekends ago, (January....cold....brr ) ...these chocolates are always worth it! They are open year round.

If I could rate this place a ten I would if that was an option. If you are EVER in the Asbury area, I recommend this place ALL THE WAY! This place is a natural/vegan place, I am not a vegan and I love this place! My favorite thing to get are the ice pops they make, they have a lot of different flavors to chose from. They switch up flavors a lot, so it's best to check out their Instagram to find out what they have. I am a runner and after every run when I am in Asbury I make sure to stop by for my post fuel! I have tried a lot of what they sell and am a huge fan. Whenever it's girl scouts time, they always make thin mints ice pops and they are HONESTLY THE BEST THING EVER! I love the frozen hot chocolate pie, it's so good! Fruity pebble mini pie is even amazing as well! One other thing I love is the shaved ice cream, so good! If you are a big cheesecake fan, they have frozen cheesecake, I have tried it and that's even just as good! The shaved ice is perfect for a hot summer day! But be careful when you mix ice flavors, I mixed some flavors together and it wasn't the best idea for myself, but the shaved ice is good! But my number one favorite from them is the ice pops and I cant express enough how much I love their ice pops and all the different flavors!!!!!!! Not only is there shaved ice, hot chocolate, ice pops, custard, and pies, the best. But so is the customer service! When a place has great customer service, it makes the experience more awesome! I can't express enough how kind the workers are at this place. They treat you more like a friend than a customer and stuff like that is nice. It makes you want to go back and it makes me so happy as a customer!!!!!! But trust me on this one, if you are ever in the area and they are open, stop by and you will not regret it. Even if you don't seem interested in what they sell, they do also sell tons of candy! Everyone loves candy, am I right? If it's a hot day on the beach and you need a drink, they even sell cold drinks in their fridge! I am going to keep supporting my favorite business and I hope you can consider supporting them as well! Take my word! But if you happen to try them and you are not a fan, that is perfectly fine because at least you tried, am I right?!

Don't waste your time or money on this business! It's my second time attempting to order soft serve and the second time the machine is broken. Rude workers and and a rude, overwhelmed owner. The smell of urine at the entrance of the store was nauseating. Coney Waffle Ice Cream at the south end of the boardwalk is a much better choice.

I have been writing reviews on YELP for many years and I believe this is my first semi-unflattering review. I did not sample anything else in the shop except the shave ice, therefore that is the only item I can review. Perhaps the customers wandering into your store have never had "real" shave ice and are just expecting a large snow cone. Snow cones are made with crushed rather than shaved ice. Shave ice should appear "snow-like". The syrup should be absorbed into it, not melt it. I absolutely love shave ice.....my fondness started in Hawaii years ago and I have had shave ice several times on each of four of the Hawaiian islands and never has it been remotely what I was served today in Betty's Icebox. I am so sorry to say this, but my dish of shave ice resembled a puddle of melted ice in the few minutes it took me to bring it to my outdoor table. The top of it tumbled right off and the syrup was running off the table and onto the floor! It was not packed down properly and there was so much syrup that the entire dish of ice melted into an overly sweet liquid before I was half way through! The cost is a reasonable $7 for a large, but it was a total disappointment. I brought the large full container of liquid inside and showed the counter person. I tried to explain my disappointment. She simply took it from me, smiled and said, "Sorry". I think the idea of this shop is fabulous and I truly hope your business is successful. I am taking the time to write this review, because I believe the idea is fabulous and I am hoping the business is successful. With some simple instruction in how to shave the ice properly into a snow like texture and pack it down, there would be lines out the door. Shave ice should not be an "icy" snow cone texture. The Hawaiian shave ice, once it is packed down properly, gets holes poked with a thin straw-like utensil and that is where the syrup gets poured and absorbed. Again, the texture of shave ice should be smooth-not crunchy. It should be smooth to the last spoonful. The shave ice should not be over saturated with the syrup- this will melt it into a puddle. Traditionally a scoop of ice cream is placed in the bottom of the cup and sweetened condensed milk is drizzled over the top and is often called a "snow cap". Betty's Icebox was out of both the ice cream and the condensed milk yesterday when I was there. It was the middle of a weekday afternoon. I am hoping Betty's Icebox makes some changes and is very successful going forward. When I get back to Asbury again I will give this another try. I will stop in and order a large shave ice with ice cream and a snow cap......then I will take the time to write another review- hoping it will be a five star one!!! Wishing you good luck in your future ice shavings!!

This place is the best place in AP, and is especially great if you watch your dairy intake. The blueberry lavender gelato and pops are my favorite, always so fresh. They make things in small batches because everything is simple, clean, and FRESH! Service is always great, I stop in every time i come to AP. Actually, they are the reason I drive 1 hour to Asbury sometimes

Amazing VEGAN soft serve!! So thrilled to stumble upon this shop, as the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, too. My daughter has multiple food allergies (milk, soy, egg, peanut, all tree nuts except almond, mollusk, sesame, garlic, mustard, lentils, chick & green peas, and lupine) but will bring her all summer long. Staff was happy to discuss which products are safe.

AMAZING AMAZING! I had no clue this place was mostly vegan and omg was I happy, the cones and flavors are incredibly delicious! such good staff, 10/10 all around recommend, coming back later his week

This place is horrible it has terrible customer service all the employees rude.i asked for vanilla ice cream and they gave me coconut based ice cream I ask for a different one they said i couldn't get another one because I tasted it I said what if I was allergic to coconut they sat there and shrugged there shoulders they didn't even care if I sat there dying on the floor and they refused to give me a refund for a 4 dollar ice cteam

A taste of "Aloha" right here in Asbury! This is the real deal Hawaiian style shave ice. (That's right, haole, SHAVE ICE not SHAVED ice!). They've got da kine style organic flavors too, mo bettah than the usual high fructose corn syrup garbage. Not to be missed!!

Betty's is awesome! Love the asthetic and the food. All organic and super cool place. Cool movies and videos projected on the walls and great staff.

J MacMullen in the last week The owners daughter was working the closing hours and when we got there at 8:45 she said since they close at 9 they shut the machines down a half hour before close which is 9:00 so we could only have ice or a pre made ice pop. After 2 of my children accepted this they ordered ice and as I was paying I noticed the other boy working there was about to serve another customer the shaved ice cream. When I asked the owners daughter about this she lied to me for a second time and said he wasn't. As I waited there he clearly was serving her and I got infuriated. Not only did she lie about the machine being shut down but now about him serving the girl. When I said something again about it her response was " well I know her". Seriously this is how you treat customers. When I asked to speak to her manager she said I am the manager and when I asked to speak to her boss she said that's my mom. I guess since it's a family owned company they can pick and choose which customers get treated well.

Amazing!! All of their products are delicious and reasonably prices...service is phenomenal and every time I go to Betty's I leave with a smile on my face:):) Betty's is definitely a place to visit!!
