Google
Very well organized store and the staff is knowlegeable, friendly, and most importantly, yesterday, very patient! Joshua had to ring, unring, ring and unring my order because I had payment complications and had to go outside to get wifi. Finally succeeded with a payment method and I slinked out the door with huge embarrassment! To top things off, I want to work there!!!! Good luck...to...me...lol!

Google
It's like a museum in there. Huge store, great choice of whiskeys and beers. Stocked on KBS from Founders Brewing Company.

Google
I had the same experience the two previous posters reported. When I asked about an item that seemed to be have rung up at a higher price than shown at the shelf, I was attacked verbally by the cashier. It was the worst customer service experience I have had in many years. I cancelled the transaction and told her I wouldn’t be coming back to that store. Her response? “Please don’t!!” Unacceptable.

Google
This BevMo! store has change a lot since it moved location. I have never met anyone who is so rude, unfriendly, and bad customer service when I ask if she could look up if there other store has what I am looking for since they don' t have it she straight up tell me I am busy I had to laugh because I am the customer who need help she can stock the store later all I can say this store need a make over just with there employees so they can sell sell more.

Ed C.

Google
Staff was very lacking in knowledge of what products they carried and had to go to their public web site to see if they carried the products I was looking for, I could have done that.

Steffen Meschkat (.

Google
The most ridiculously unfriendly cashier I have seen in a long time. I thought this does not exist anymore. She did not speak a single sentence longer than one word. As if from a parody movie!

Family Man D.

Google
Probably the worst BevMo! I've ever been to so far.. Limited selection is hard to say for BevMo so I'll just say they didn't offer what i was looking for. I wont be going back to this location

Mike L.

Google
Always a fav of mine to try to new scotch or whiskeys as they have small samplers so you don't have to commit to a lot of $ before you give it a go with a sampler first. Got the Glenlivet 12 and the Slane Irish Whiskey this time around. The Glenlivet was very nice and enjoyable. The Slane... well... I think I will stick to Jameson's if I go Irish whiskey.

Yelp
I live in Fremont, but this was the only BevMo around that had what I was looking for. They had a BOGO $0.05 which was a great deal and glad that they had these items in stock. I ordered online and pick up was extremely fast and hassle free which I appreciated. If you're looking for any extremely light drinks for lightweights like me, the Smirnoff ice neon pack is so good! The flavors are amazing and in most of them, you can't even taste the alcohol (the alcohol is extremely subtle, even less so than the standard Smirnoff ice flavors). My favorite is the peach lemonade one!

Yelp
Great prices and the staff is quite familiar with the inventory and helping you make decisions on making a purchase

Yelp
Menlo Park store was closed for a feed months due to sales to minors!!! Kinda crazy since they always have cared me and I'm 56 But I'm happy they are back in business! It's so much bigger than Redwood City and on my way home!!!
google avatar

Anders V.

Yelp
This place in a Menlo Park is just awful! I waited inline to pick my order for at least 20 mins at the only open checker while other store staff was walking all around me not showing a sign to be willing help or even asking to assist once! This style of not giving a crap about customers truly sucks BEVMO!
google avatar

Rachelle J.

Yelp
They wouldn't/couldn't accept my passport card as a valid ID. I recently lost my DL and only had that with me. Apparently this location had been shut down for selling to minors hence this finicky requirement that applies to this store only. I ordered online and they had no way to cancel my order/refund me on the spot. They had to contact customer service via email with no specific resolution, which was truly the most annoying part. So not only did I have to go somewhere else, it's unknown when I will get refunded. The sales person seemed nice enough and was apologetic but the whole trip ended up being a disaster. I usually shop at Total Wines due to their better pricing and larger selection but this BevMo was near another stop I had to make. Also the 375mL of Casamigos was on sale for $30.99 from $34.99 (it's $27.99 at Total Wines) and I needed this bottle specifically for a gift. Lesson learned, stick to Total Wines!

John C.

Yelp
Wow! What an experience.......not! Got in at 8:30pm, they close at 9pm. Got my case of beer, presented a $100, at which time I was told cant accept it, we have cleared out our registers for the day. Really? I am in retail and we do that at close. Okay, I accept that, while I began taking my credit card out, the clerk asked me for my license. I presented it in my wallet behind a full plastic sheet it was kept in. I am sorry you must take it completely out of the wallet. Well, I cant without destroy my wallet, but you are more than happy to try to if you cant read it thru the window. No, I must have it out of the wallet and I cant do it for you. We were hit three months ago by ABC, and I politely said, you don't get hit by selling to a 70 year old man that doesn't look 25. I thanked them and walked out. Went to the competitor down the street. Not only got my case for $3 less, but the clerk did in fact look through the wallet window, AND, said no problem to a $100 bill. Sorry BevMo, wont be back.

Yelp
Drivers licenses being scanned in order to spend my money at your store? No! I'm NOT okay with this. I'll not enter another Bev Mo as long as this is mandatory. As a matter of fact, I'm licking Total Wine Stores more & more. That's who's getting my business.

Jesse H.

Yelp
This store is currently closed due to a suspended license. It was great while open, but looks like it'll be closed until November.

Yelp
This is not against the staff at Bevmo Redwood City, this is about a company policy Bevmo instituted. I went in today to purchase Torani Italian syrup and some sparkling water, no alcohol whatsoever. The cashier IMMEDIATELY asked for my ID, my ID I said but why, he didn't explain, so I asked again, why? I'm 62 years old and I'm not even buying any alcohol? Then another employee stepped in and explained that there was an incident and it is now company policy to ask for everyone's ID, regardless of the purchase This is not good! It seems that Bevmo is providing Cover Our Own Ass Service instead of Customer Service. Nobody asks for this, not liquor stores, supermarkets, I mean nobody... All this because of one incident, one underage person who got away with buying some alcohol and now we are all subject to this nonsense, this is ridiculous and I will not be shopping there anymore. It's really too bad, the store is local to me but I guess I'll have to drive to the nearest Total Wine or Costco. Oh well, their loss...!!!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
BevMo now scans your drivers license, when you make a purchase. Checking ID is one thing but this is a major intrusion of privacy. So I'm shopping elsewhere
google avatar

Randy M.

Yelp
What would a review for a liquor store as hardcore as BevMo sound like? Hardcore, hehe. Hmmm? Where do I begin? Theres a lot of glass in this store. Bottles stacked and layered. How does one not find what their looking for in here or at any BevMo for that matter? So much good stuff. But, it could be bad if you don't drink responsibly.. My assumption is that anyone reading a BevMo review must already know what a BevMo is all about. With that and the whole Menlo Park backdrop, it's going to be a very good evening. Enjoy the night.
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Walked in around closing. And then, I lost the back of my earring in this Bevmo and the staff clerk offered to sweep to find it for me. That to me is a win! Also BOGO for 5 cents on wine and $10 off $50 coupon is also a win to me!
google avatar

Lola P.

Yelp
Poor customer service by the African American guy, he was rude with me but over attentive with other African American customer talking about everything exempt the help that he got me waiting for. Honestly what a bummer!

Nate S.

Yelp
I've purchased hundreds of cigars at BevMo. The manager in Menlo Park would not open the glass for me to select as I see fit to choose. Instead he stood over me with glove. Maybe he wanted to give me a prostate exam. Never buy cigars at BevMo.
google avatar

Nick A.

Yelp
I think this Bevmo gets overlooked because of the location, which is actually a good thing if you're in search of rare whisky. Occasionally when Blanton's comes in, this location has it in stock and is less likely to cancel your order due to too many other people ordering. I also occasionally see some Henry McKennas in stock too. The f you're able to make the trek to Menlo Park to pick up your booze, it's certainly worth it. Price wise it's not really any different than other locations. It's definitely cheaper than a local liquor store that charges 2-3 times as much for high end liquor, but compared to a Total Wine and More, it's a hit and miss. Do remember to check your email for this $10 off $75 coupons to save yourself some money. The staff here is friendly in person and over the phone. Definitely recommend coming here.

Robin D.

Yelp
My husband was shopping here and I asked to use the restroom. No public restrooms. So we left and shopped down the road at K&L wines. They have public restrooms and a great selection.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
I have been to this location on several occasions. The store is always clean, well organized, and the staff is super friendly. This is definetly one of the smaller locations I've seen but they still carry an excellent variety of alcohol and wine for you to choose from.
google avatar

Wade L.

Yelp
So irritated by their five cent sale on products priced at nearly 2x the competition's prices. Still have some decent values if you dig around. Just don't believe the sales hype.

Water W.

Yelp
Unfortunately I share in the reviews of the African American man at the register. UNBELIEVABLY rude and even aggressive. Asked a simple question about a sale item and somehow that set him off. He went into a tirade telling me that I should have "read the signs" (there were NO signs, which is why I was asking) or I should have "known." Such a crazy weird experience that I will never go back to this BevMo.
google avatar

Dave V.

Yelp
What BevMo giveth in selection, it taketh away in customer-friendliness. Packages are crammed so tightly together in steel shelves with no surrounding space that you need a crowbar to remove them. They replaced convenient and practical pass-through checkout lanes with tiny counters where the items the cashier has scanned can easily get mixed up with those they haven't, and you have to examine your receipt to make sure you weren't double-charged. I wrote and asked them to have some consideration for the customer experience, but senior management doesn't care about that. They just want to cram as much product as possible into every square inch of space, no matter how difficult and unpleasant it makes shopping there, and how unsure it leaves customers of their charges.
google avatar

BonBon S.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service! BevMo might be a big company, but this shop operates like a small, local business which is fantastic. They're fast and willing to go the extra mile for customers. I'm a big fan!

Hongyi L.

Yelp
The African American man who working in the store was not nice. Always has poor service.

Yelp
I love BEER and this place seems to have a larger selection than the other BevMos I normally shop at in Sunnyvale & Redwood City. The new store is in the old Chili's restaurant and the sun really pours in from the back. I hope they address that because the beers and harder alcohol selections might get skunked! Today's their Grand Opening here in Menlo Park. I wanted to check out all the hype, but I got off work a little late. The guy at the register (who kept calling me bro) said the vendor girls were pretty hot. ;-) I saw a couple of tasting tables, appetizers, and plenty of "suits" overly greeting the customers. The cigar humidor section was tiny! Anyways, the place is clean, organized, and stocks plenty of booze for everyone! Enjoy... PS The parking is really tight up front and...STOP calling me bro...BRO!!!

B H.

Yelp
I went to this store today to buy a bottle of passion fruit syrup. A Russian woman checks me out, as she has several times in the past.. She's the last person you'd want to accommodate your customers. She never says "hello," never says "thank you," and never smiles. She makes it obvious that she doesn't like you, probably doesn't like anyone. But I've always said "hello" and "thank you" to her anyway, figuring she had a tough life. When I get home, I notice I'd accidentally grabbed a bottle of pineapple syrup, so I drive back to the store. The checkout line is long because two of the three clerks have something more important to do than serve customers at the other register. I approach the woman who'd checked me out, tell her I'd grabbed the wrong bottle, and ask her if I can exchange it for the right one. She tells me I have to wait in line and deal with a cashier again. I explain that both syrups are of the same brand and have the same price. She gets tough with me and tells me "It's not our fault. It's your fault, and you have to wait in line." I tell her they must have hired her for her personality, make the exchange myself, bypass the line and just walk out. They've lost my business. Bevmo should take a lesson in customer-service from Trader Joe's.

Nathalie H.

Yelp
African American man in the register was rude. As I am unlocking my phone to do Apple Pay he goes like "come on hurry up" all of it because one of his frequent customers had a question about something and he wanted to kiss his ass :/
google avatar

Yelp
Quiet BevMo, decent selection. It's five stars for the staff. All of them have been particularly kind and helpful, even on their first day! Brooke is my super homie.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not the hugest fan of BevMo in general... In fact, I'd really like it if there were mo' places I could get mo' bevs for mo' discounts! This one is nice enough, though certainly not the biggest. We got some decent pinot grigio here for a good price, especially since the nickel wine sale was going on! Just a note about the nickel wine sale... You have to buy two of the exact same bottles of wine to get the second one for a nickel. Not all it's cracked up to be. Womp womp.
google avatar

Yelp
I am a wine lover, and they have a lot of wines in stock, especially from California. While there's the occasional $6 Sutter Home or $60 Duckhorn, most of their stuff tends to concentrate in the $10-30/bottle range. I take advantage of their 5-cent wine sale often, which is basically a buy one, get one free. Although the nominal price is somewhat marked up, the price after the 5-cent deal is still an effective discount of about 20-30%. The way their store is set up, the wines on sale are in the middle, the rest of the wines (some of which may also be on sale) are on the left, food is at the back, beer and spirits are on the right, and glassware is at the far right. On their left aisles, they start with the roses and lightest whites (sauvignon blanc) and work their way through chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot, etc., eventually reaching cabernet sauvignon. Most of these wines tend to be from California. Then come the countries, with Italy, France, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. At the very left there is port, dessert wines, champagne, wine from Germany, and box wine.

Yelp
Ordered online and went to pick up today (during shelter in place) - the staff were doing an amazing job. They had an orderly system to get everyone's names and bring their orders outside. They were incredibly nice to an older gentleman who didn't know how to order online - they worked to understand his order and bring it out to him. Great experience under tough circumstances. Thanks.

Sarah J.

Yelp
I had such a rock star experience with this Bevmo! One of the sales associates Emma was incredible. I was on the hunt for Blanton's Bourbon, which if you're familiar with it, is nearly impossible to find. I got a text alert that Bevmo had it back in stock, hooray!, so I went on the web site and ordered a bottle within minutes. There I was, so smug thinking I'd found a bottle of this rare bourbon. The next morning, I got an email from someone at the store saying my order was canceled because the bottle had sold to someone else. Ahh! Help! I wrote back pleading for assistance. Emma replied that she would help me. And that she did! She went out of her way to pick up a bottle from a different Bevmo in the early morning before work, brought it to the Menlo Park store, and hid it for me so that no one else could buy it. When I got to the store, Emma knew exactly who I was and hand carried out this precious bourbon to register. I mean, that kind of customer service is hard to find. Emma didn't have to do that for me, but she was committed to making things right. That's worth paying for. Go Emma!

Yelp
Apple Pay only works at some of the terminals. They've known about the issue for many months (with various employees acknowledging it), but of course they haven't bothered fixing it. Otherwise, the prices are fine. The stocking for Beer is awkward (by style, not brand), which sounds like a good idea, but in reality is terrible. Stocking can be hit/miss. edit: Employee gave me a bunch of attitude today over me not wanting to use the broken terminal on the right side. "They're all the same." Um, no sir. And don't give me shit about it. I ended up walking out, since he wouldn't use another terminal (all other 3 terminals work fine with Apple Pay). Sure, I could have just paid cash, but this guy was being a total jerk.

Yelp
THANK YOU SO MUCH JASON. So my husband and I going to have a big party and we had a huge order. The number of bottles that we wanted wasn't available at the store and Jason went to other beVmo stores and got the right numbers even though it's not his responsibility. He called us a few times to make sure we have everything that we needed. He took pictures that we asked for and send it to us. His customer service is BEYOND GREAT. We had a better offer somewhere else but just because of his service we placed our big order at Bevmo. From now on we will only be going to place our orders ONLY AT THIS LOCATION. Even though we never met him, we love him. Such a caring and polite person. We don't know how to say thank you to him. U rock Jason if we could give you 10000000 stars we would. You did a lot and we appreciate all your help. People like you are the best for business and our stressful society and we hope someday someone just like you going to make your day like the way that you did to us. NEVER SEEN SUCH A CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHERE NOT EVEN AT NORDSTROM.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience here today ... at first I was over charged for my Buy One Get one for 50 cents bottles ... the guy at the counter was asking me about ice wine and somehow never asked for my phone number. Note - the credit card machine does not show the total amount so I didn't even know how much they charged me. On my way home I realized that I was never asked for my club BevMo number so I went backed as I knew I was overcharged $100. Now I was given the discounts for the Buy One Get one for 50 cents bottles but charged twice for an ice wine bottle. I noticed this on coming home and they credited the $30 on the phone but I'm just surprised at the unprofessionalism of all working at this store. My first such experience at a BevMo and I hope this review helps the manager of this store be aware of the level of unprofessionalism happening here ... and if there's anyone else being overcharged I hope they are aware that this is a recurring event at this store ...

Yelp
If you are looking to host a large party and you know the guests are beer drinkers, purchase the large keg! I recently had my baby shower in Menlo Park, and wanted to purchase a keg for the event. I walked in, inquired about the keg, and was led to the back of the warehouse, where Bevmo keeps an assortment of beer and different sized kegs. We were able to select our keg size and beer after letting the employee know we wanted Modelo Especial, and luckily, they had it in stock. Even if they don't, they will have it delivered to your local store with at least 4 days in advance. You could pre-purchase the keg or pay the day of. Since we pre-purchased the keg, I would recommend this option given that it makes the process a lot faster. You will need a DL, complete a permit, purchase the keg, rent the spout, rent the bucket, if needed, and purchase some ice to keep the keg nice and cold. Eventually a refundable deposit of $50 is needed. Overall my satisfaction with the experience was excellent! From the customer service until drop off of the keg. Guests were able to enjoy at least 3 drinks where only about half of the guests partook in drinking beer with a total guest count of 80 people. I will definitely purchase all my keg needs again in the near future from Bevmo.

Yelp
Looking to buy wine in bulk and was having a hard time picking out a white and red. I ended up asking for help from their wine guy. Even though I didn't purchase anything from them, I was grateful for the employees time and patience with me in helping me choose two wines. They have their $0.05 sale going on which does help, especially if you are looking to buy in bulk. The only thing is that I realized, is whatever wine I asked for his recommendation, he tended to choose the most expensive wine.

Yelp
Solid branch out in the peninsula with friendly service and a decent selection of craft brews. Was glad to see that they had Knee Deep Brewing and Track 7's collaboration Belgo American IPA from Sacramento Beer Week still available.
google avatar

Reyn J.

Yelp
A chain, but my review is not about that. They are very service oriented in this store and, as price is king, their pricing is agreeable. On occasion, they have the 5 cent sale, essentially two for the price of one. On Saturday's, they host a $2 (plus tax) tasting of 5 instances of a varietal; today, it was pinot.
google avatar

Yelp
Draeger's had Magic Hat #9, which means that Magic Hat got some sort of West Coast distributor. But Draeger's is expensive, and BevMo is cheap. I stop in to see if they can make Magic Hat appear for me... This is a chain store, right? So I expect to be told no luck. Instead, the manager pulls all sorts of computer magic to see what stores has it and tells me he will order it the next day. So now (this) BevMo has Magic Hat #9 (in the big bottles), because I asked for it. Score! Now I can get it at a cheap enough price I can drink it *all the time*! Selection: 4.75/5 (Hard alcohol 5/5, Beer 4.5/5) Service: 5/5 Value: 4.5/5

Yelp
I have been to a few BevMo locations and I really like the staff and the location of this store. Parking is never and issue and the staff is really fun with a great attitude. They are always willing to help me with my questions.

Yelp
I suppose with alcohol sales, customers are either really pleased or really frustrated. In my case, I was definitely pleased. I worked with James Higgins, the store wine expert to plan beverage service for my wedding. He provided not only quality and timely feedback and service, both in person and through several emails, but selected some pretty top flite wines/champagne within my budget. The only reason I'm docking a star is because they forgot to figure in soft drinks. My caterer had to run out and get that.

Yelp
Shopped at the new Menlo Park BevMo on it's opening day. Everything was great until I checked out. They wanted to see my ID. OK, I'm being carded. No they didn't just want to see my license, they wanted to scan it. I asked why. They have a policy of scanning licenses for every one under 50. Under 50? They were serious. I explained that I was over that particular age and would happily show, but not give, them my license. Funny. That hadn't happened at any other BevMo. Opening day jitters? Reading the rulebook a little too literally? We'll see.

L B.

Yelp
Just had a very disappointing experience with Bevmo. They would not except my boyfriends IL license in the morning, so we came back later that day to buy the specific beer he wanted with my CA license. But by then they were all sold out. The guy at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. As we were about to leave I saw the manager (or I think that is who he was) and decided to mention that I was a bit disappointed with my Bevmo experience so far. I was going to ask whether he would look up when/if they were going to get more of this beer in so I didn't have to make another pointless drive to Menlo Park. Especially since I had to be there with my CA ID. Once I approached him and mentioned that I wanted to tell him that I was disappointed so far and explained that was the second time we had been there that day and we were walking away empty handed again. He then got really defensive and told me that the policy was posted right on the cash register about out of state ID's! His tone was incredibly rude and I was shocked that he was reacting so aggressively. At that point I told him that his tone of voice made me want to walk out of the store and take my business elsewhere. He pointed at the door and said 'go then!' I lived in New York for over 8 years and this is more rude than any customer service experience I had while I was there. I will not be returning. The 2nd star is because it looked like they had a wide selection, and the guy at the counter was nice. My recommendation is to drive the extra mile to Willows Market. Great beer selection, amazing customer service, and a local store with local owners!
google avatar

Stacy C.

Yelp
I would never buy anything from this store. Why? Because they have the beer in front of their huge greenhouse windows! The beer is in full sun throughout the day, so much so that it becomes warm to the touch. Anyone who knows anything about beer will tell you that light and heat are the two worst things for beer. The same for wine. They obviously don't care about keeping their products in decent conditions. Better to hit K&L, Beltramo's or Willow Market if you want to get some stuff that hasn't been sunbathing.

Yelp
Was looking for a particular vintage Pinot. This bev mo claimed to have 26 cases on their Internet site. Bought a case online, then drove down from SF. Brought out the case, wrong year. Long drive for nothing. Didn't even get an apology, tho they did offer a refund. Very generous.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience at the MP store. I came in on the last evening of their Labor Day sale with a coupon for $10 off. I wanted to buy 2 bottles of a flavored brandy. They only had one. I asked the manager, Nick?, what he could do to help me out. *I suggested a rain check: NO. *I asked if he could have a bottle transferred from another store: NO. BevMo's policy doesn't allow for exchanges between stores to accommodate customers. *I asked if he could give me a discount when they had more in stock: NO. He isn't allowed to give discounts. I asked which nearby stores had that brandy in stock. His initial answer was: NONE. Upon pressing the issue, it turned out that Los Altos had 3 bottles. *I asked if there was a feedback form I could tell BevMo management about this issue: NO. I would have to go online to complain. I told him this was terrible customer service. He said he could be fired for relaying complaints to management. He basically was telling me he had no control over satisfying a customer. I left and bought the bottles at Los Altos, but I'm looking for an alternate discount liquor store.

Yelp
The only place to buy the proper rum for a dark and stormy in these parts.

Yelp
Good selection, but PITA management at this location. Some good wines, usually the good wines sell our really fast, so if you find a bottle you like go back and get more the next day, Beer selection is very good and usually fresh. But if I have the time I go to the Redwood City location - friendlier and better trained staff, and fewer crazy policies like refusing to return printed bevmo club coupons (they don't realize emails can be printed multiple times...) and mandatory swiping and recording of drivers licenses to invade privacy (and i'm well on the wrong side of 40). Seemingly the management enjoys seeing how obnoxious they can be to their customers before they go back to Beltramos. Fortunately, Redwood City BevMo is just a few miles up El Camino.

Yelp
This Bevmo has the worst customer service. I was waiting for someone to ring me up for the longest time. I see is 3 employees just restocking shelves and finally one of them comes to ring me up. After ringing me up he leaves while my credit card is charging. Eventually the receipt comes out and still no employee. So I had to raise my voice at him and asked him if i need to reach in a grab it myself??? He comes back and gives it to me but with a look in his face that will make me never go back to that Bevmo!

Yelp
I've shopped at 6 different BevMo stores, and only found one in Danville, that had good customer service. We had to empty out another case of wine, which I thought would bring attention to us, (nope), and load up the case with the brand we wanted. We were not mixing up, same brand, same type of wine, same year, etc. Then load the damn thing from the floor into the cart, along with several other items. Then we're the only people at the check out, wait until, the girl, was done with her ipad, cell phone, before she even noticed. Get a lot of shop lifting here? One would have to wonder, as I don't think they realize when they have customers.
