We have Bevolo lights on our wedding venue Stone House of St. Charles near St. Louis Missouri. I’ve always wanted some small lantern style candle holders. This was the trip I could pick them up Bevolo Gas & Electric Lights do all of the gas lamps here in the French Quarter. Electric too. Beautiful well made American, with French influence, products

Bevelo Gas and Electric Lights is a New Orleans success story. They locally design, build and sell some of the most exquisite gas and electric metal lamps in the world. As a customer I can attest to the quality of these lamps. I have owned one for over forty years and it only grows more beautiful each year. They have a wonderful show room on Royal Street with a great demonstration area in back where you can watch and speak to craftspeople as they assemble the lamps by hand. A really cool thing to see.

We recently invested in Bevolo handcrafted gas and electric copper lights for our Gulf Breeze Florida home, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The lights are not only breathtakingly beautiful but also showcase impeccable quality and craftsmanship. Mr. Roy Sand played an awesome role in making our purchase journey seamless and enjoyable. His assistance during the order process was invaluable, and he went above and beyond to ensure we made the right choices for our home. One standout feature was the excellent support with architectural maps, digitally crafted to help us visualize the perfect lights for our home facade. This level of detail and personalization made a significant difference in our decision-making. The investment was well worth the wait, and the end result is nothing short of stunning. Bevolo Gas and Electric Lights have undeniably added a touch of elegance to our home, and we can already sense the increased value they bring. If you're looking to enhance the aesthetic appeal and value of your home, we recommend Bevolo Lights. The combination of exquisite design, top-notch quality, and exceptional customer service makes them a standout choice in the world of lighting.

I visited New Orleans 20 years ago, and dropped into Bevolo's shop in the quarter. I absolutley fell in love with the handcrafted copper gas lights. It took far to long, but we ordered two for our poolhouse in Ontario Canada. They look amazing, the experience was wonderful and the customer service was even better. A world class company!

I absolutely love, love, love my Bevolo gas lanterns! Roy Sands at Bevolo was so helpful in making sure I got exactly what I was looking for, including the right size for the space I was going to place my lanterns. I definitely would recommend Bevolo Gas & Electric Lights to anyone looking to add that extra touch to your living space!

We use their exterior lanterns on almost all of our projects and have lasted for over 35 years without an issue. On the ocean they can need a candle replacement after 20 years due to the salt, but the actual lanterns have kept going after a minor rewiring. The rivets are amazing and so strong no matter the conditions. Very helpful and gladly will make you a custom size for additional costs, but gladly make them to the scale of the home. As an interior designer it is important to have a product and manufacturer you can rely on.

I entered this store twice, two days in a row only because I really wanted to purchase a paper vase. Upon entering on the first day, the woman sales associate was on the phone (perhaps with a client) — not only did she fail to acknowledge us in the store but she also did not give us eye contact or let us know to wait five minutes before she could help us because our inquiries. We were in the store for about 10 minutes and she was clearly not interested in helping us, so we disappointingly left the store. Then I called the store number to see if I could order the vase online and they let us know that they would need to go to the store and send some associates to take a picture of the vase and see if it was the one that we wanted to purchase. The next day I decided I would just go back there myself and see if perhaps this woman associate was going to be more willing to help us. As it turns out, she was playing puzzle games online while we were in the store and asked her directly to help us to purchase the vase. Bottom line here: This is a high-end retail store, it has a large online following on social media — it seems to have beautiful pieces for purchase. As such, it is not delusional for one to think that they would be offering their customers proper retail service, with kindness and politness. It is very saddening and disheartening to see such a terrible customer service with stiffness and impoliteness in every moment of the interaction or lack there of. I would highly suggest that the management of the store take into consideration this woman’s lack of retail experience. Thank you for the beautiful vase but I shall not be coming back as long as she works there, it was very upsetting.

Yelp
One of the many things I love about New Orleans is the gas lamps that you see throughout the city. They are so enchanting with their romantic flickering flame. All these beautiful, iconic lamps are made in the city by Bevolo, which is the oldest and largest manufacturer of these hand-riveted copper lanterns. The company was founded in 1945 by Andrew Bevolo and is still a family-owned business. The copper is mined locally, and each lamp is expertly crafted by hand. You can watch the coppersmiths at work at their showroom located at 318 Royal Street, which is also a museum. Even though the gas lamps are their most popular sellers, they also make chandeliers & sconces. A few years ago, I ordered two of the Original French Quarter lanterns for my home in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, due to earthquakes I wasn't able to install the gas version, so I had to get electric. I was able to find light bulbs that replicate a flickering flame. The salespeople, Kayla Bossi & Brittnee Ulmer were friendly and helpful. My lanterns were carefully packed to protect against damage during shipping. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb. I absolutely love them. They make me smile when I walk in my front door because they remind me of my beloved city, New Orleans, where my heart lives.

Yelp
I had my heart set on gorgeous gas lanterns for my new build in Northern California. Roy was very helpful in helping me choose a style (Modern) and size (Large). I ended up with a trifecta of 2 sconces and 1 pendant. They are GORGEOUS beyond belief. So elegant - like living candles on the front of my home. I love the copper, and the fact that they are hand made in Louisiana makes them more special. We had a few small issues with delivery across the country, but Roy and Bevolo were super speedy, helpful and responsive. I am thrilled with my Bevolo lanterns and would highly recommend to anyone considering.

Yelp
Kristy S. (our sales rep) provided amazing service! Designed the perfect lanterns for our new home and shipped them in a timely manner. I love that we were able to bring authentic New Orleans lanterns from hometown to our Texas home!

Yelp
Definitely worth stopping in to not only check out their large selection of gas lanterns, but also head towards the back to the shop and talk to the guy making them. He's one of many assembling these lights and lanterns. He's really friendly. We saw him 6 years ago here and he was just as happy to have folks come talk to him. They make some really nice lantern ls here!

Yelp
stumbled across this gem of a store/museum. yes i said museum. walk in and head to the back and grab some free history. walking around NOLA you will be greeted with an abundance of gas lamps, which are a hueg part of its history, but also is still used to this date. it was nice to see them on display, the different designs, and that people are still using them now. once you head to the back, you will be greeted by someone who is currently working on some pieces, feel free to ask questions. wander a little farther, to an absolutely gorgeus hidden courtyard. look up. then you can exit that way to a hidden street with some cafes.

Yelp
What an amazing shop!!! We were drawn in by the beautiful lamps and the staff encouraged us to walk back and check out the work station and all of the information about the company. Everyone was so friendly and the person working in the shop stopped and had a wonderful conversation with us about what he was working on. This is such an incredible piece of history!

Yelp
They have all sizes of light fixtures. There's a workshop in the back of the stores. They show you how each of the lighting fixtures are made. They shipping all over the world. The light comes in gas or electric.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about Bevolo. On one hand, I like the look of their gas lamps. We purchased three for a house renovation. These pieces are handsome. 2 years have passed since installation, and we have had no problems with the lamps. From my standpoint, quality is solid. On the service end, I would give them 1 star. At some point in the renovation, I almost told our decorator to scrap the lamps, because Bevolo was being a pain in the neck. Our original point person was Kiley. We got quotes early on but we were not ready to purchase for many months. That's just the pace our renovations were taking. She sent multiple emails regarding canceling the quotes, because we had not followed through with purchasing. Eventually, I told our designer to go ahead and cancel them. I was tired of hearing it. In the end, Bevolo kept the quotes active. I found the back and forth unnecessary. I felt like they were trying to push us into purchasing before we (or the house) was ready for the lamps. When we were looking at the lamps in person, our salesperson was rude. Leigh Myers. I remember her vividly. Granted this was 2 or 3 years ago, but she was so rude it left an impression. I was ready to scratch Bevolo off the list, but Shari V really liked their product. I caved, and we still bought the lamps from Bevolo. From my perspective, the lamps have been great but the service was poor. If one of the lamps broke at this point, I'd find another vendor. No interest in working with Bevolo again.

Yelp
One of the downsides to traveling to popular cities like New Orleans is the sheer abundance of touristy shops selling an array of usually made-in-China knick-knacks. In my humble opinion, there is no one who needs any more mugs, magnets or other examples of mass consumerism which inevitably end up cluttering homes or worse, in landfill. This kind of garbage usually bums me out enormously so aside from buying an occasional post-card I try to avoid those establishments, not wanting to support the importing of such crap. It is a losing battle, I know. Instead we like to be in search of local craftspeople making quality items that are representative of the areas in which they work. Sadly craftspeople who once flourished in America, can now be hard to find. Imagine our happy surprise when we stumbled upon Bevolo Gas Lights with it's typically New Orleans architectural look. You find yourself being drawn into a charming and somewhat mysterious entrance leading to a partially brick-lined "alley" whereupon you see an array of traditional and hand-crafted copper lights illuminating the way. These are gorgeous light fixtures which you will see in actual use throughout New Orleans, many of them still utilizing gas to light them. We saw examples of copper gas lights in South Carolina as well during our visit last year and it's just a beautiful look. The patina that copper develops over time just adds to the charm. I love the idea of gas lighting fixtures illuminating outdoor areas whether commercial or residential. We've found ourselves thinking about how we might add some of these pieces to our outdoor landscaping. The lights can also be rigged for electricity. The look is beautiful and the gas light filtered through the copper is warm and inviting. This is easily evidenced by the displays you see in the shop. Once inside you will find that behind the display area there is a wonderful workshop where we spent some time talking to two of the craftsmen as they went about their work of creating these fixtures. The whole place is quite magical and special. The prices seemed reasonable to me particularly for hand-crafted works of art.. Bevolo opened back in 1945 and is still being run by a 3rd generation family member. There is clearly a sense of both mission and pride demonstrated by the people we met in the store that day. They do a a lot of business of course in Louisiana but also apparently in all 50 states and beyond. These lighting fixtures are beautiful and well-made by local American artisans. This is the kind of business we like to see. Well worth a visit; it's inspiring.

Yelp
They make an excellent product and provide great service. They were very helpful as we figured out what was the best design, size, shape, and style of our lights and the hanging bracket/support. These lights are artistic craftsmanship. We purchased lights for our front porch to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. A classic purchase from a classy company. Thank you Bevolo Lights for helping us make our anniversary special and our home more beautiful. You were one of the bright parts of 2020 for us.

Yelp
Creative and artistic expression pieces. The prices were reasonable considering each piece was customized and unique. When we entered the attendant was nice and offered assistance if we needed it. We browsed and saw all the pieces that ranged in colors, styles and sizes. The place was vibrant for sure. Maybe one day I'll return to make a purchase.

Yelp
This was one of our many awesome sightseeing stops along Royale Street. I thought it was interesting from the street and decided to go in. This particular shop consist of two buildings (one on Royale Street and the other behind it. There is also another space on the same block parentheses in a different building) that sells other types of interior lamps. From the salesman (I apologize for not getting his name) inside I learned a lot about how these lamps are handcrafted in the United States of America. He gave comparisons to their Chinese competitors. The copper they use in their fixtures are also mined locally. They've been in business for at least 80 years from what I remember being said. Many companies and private residences use this brand of lamps both nationally and internationally. I didn't really check, but I had a good assumption that the price points for these lamps are relatively expensive. They happened to have an artesian in the back building making a few of the lamp framings as we were visiting the shop. Within the same back building room, there is a wall with written historical education along with pictures and active lamp samples to view. The displays are absolutely beautiful with functioning gas lights. Whether you can afford these lamps or not, just like the rest of Royale street's beautiful shops, it's definitely worth a stop by. Cool to learn about and to watch.

Yelp
Cool local business that handcrafts many of the lamps you see around the French quarter. All made to order, by hand, with the average lamp going through the work of 10 people.
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
Be cool Gas and Electric lamps in New Orleans is amazing. The staff are very friendly and if you walk past the back courtyard, you can see lamps being handmade and they love questions! So if you're in the French Quarter, definitely stop by! They are also available as a location for special occasions!
google avatar

Yelp
Very awesome craftsmanship store that sell gas lamps. The back of the shop is the workshop and history of street lamps. It was interesting to speak with the craftsman and he described different lamps that the store offers. The lamps are pricey, but it is a great artistry.
google avatar

Zin M.

Yelp
A MUST stop if you are in the French Corner! Don't be intimidated if you are not out to purchase a lamp (though it will be hard to resist once you check it out). The showroom is simple but very cool but the gem is walking through to gallary and getting to the back and watching some true craftsmen working on lamps. It is really an incredible experience and the gentlemen we were lucky to meet were so friendly and down to earth! They were genuinely interested in chatting with us while they worked... I could have sat there for hours and watched them and taken photos of every little little detail of their workshop. Every lamp is handmade and from what I understood, they bust out about 400 lamps a week with 50 total artists (various studios but the French Quarter is the original). Just a magical place. I didn't purchase anything this visit but I'm completely sold and can't wait to someday have something of my own from here! Good people, amazing work.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Gaslight began leaking and going out every time it rained. I called Bevolo and was treated very rudely by a very condescending and unhelpful agent.
google avatar

Hannah I.

Yelp
The craftsmanship of the lights are amazing I have these lamps on my property in NNew Hope PA and visit the shop in the French quarter every time I visit NOLA!

Yelp
We had to replace gas lamps installed 15 years ago. We could not be happier with the quality of Bevolo fixtures. It turned out beautiful
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
This is a much better store than the other Bevolo store around the corner, as it has a far wider selection of lamps, lights, mirrors, etc. Make sure to check out the back rooms as they have some of the more interesting designs.
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
I worked with Samantha and Christie via email and phone calls, and the customer service was outstanding. I'd decided on the French Quarter model, and with Christie's help, the 18" size. Getting natural gas to my front porch area was going to be cost prohibitive, so I chose the Bevolo electric option, as my 67 year-old house already had wiring in place. Thought I wouldn't like these as well as gas, but I was wrong; I absolutely love them. Yes, these cost more than average outdoor fixtures, but they are stunningly gorgeous and incredibly well made. They complement my home's entryway beautifully, and I am very happy with my purchase.

M R.

Yelp
Beautiful shop on quaint, artistic Royal Street. Although we were in town for a weekend trip and not in the market for light fixtures, that didn't stop us from browsing the phenomenal craftsmanship. There are some gorgeous pieces, both for indoor and outdoor use, in various sizes. There are some impressive pieces of ironwork, too. We ended up with a great riverboat Christmas ornament, which will be the perfect addition to our tree this year. If you're looking for a great shop, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps on Bourbon Street, go here!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Here's where you could get a piece of New Orleans! The Bevolo gas lights were handcrafted giving any place a great ambience. The sales person was very friendly and informative. After visiting the store we walked down the streets of New Orleans we started noticing that the lightings were everywhere. Beautiful lightings!!
google avatar

Lady G.

Yelp
Even if you can't afford the beautiful artistry it's just like a museum of a bygone era. Crafts people did all the work themselves once...when things were made here and not in China. Go and see how these lights are made, learn about the patina and talk to the interesting gentlemen who work in Bevolo's. *They ship their goods and have a really helpful catalogue.
google avatar

Yuni E.

Yelp
Amazing place love the feeling of it and the craftsman was very nice with us he show the kids how they make everything and I was very happy to find out that is made in the USA,after talking to the nice gentleman we walk around the store and saw all sorts of different things ( if you send them a picture of your home they will customize any piece for you and shipped it too) I will have to get me some for the house :))

Bev K.

Yelp
horrible company to deal with. Receptionist hags up phone on her customers If I could give negative stars I would

Sissy W.

Yelp
The saleswoman, Celia, had a lot of attitude and was unpleasant to deal with. I decided to proceed with the purchase anyway. When I called to follow-up (three times) she did not return my calls. Then she emailed and said "due to the passage of time" the piece was sold to someone else. Apparently, it is ok to be rude to tourists, assuming they won't return...
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
If you love classic light fixtures, then you will be in heaven in this shop. They specialize in gas and electric lights, and have the old style gas lamps that you see all over the French Quarter. Very cool shop, and they were kind to offer their visitors complementary bottles of water on a hot day. I truly enjoyed my visit to this store, and would recommend it to others.
google avatar

Yelp
Money well spent. Custom made for your application. Great staff. Great showroom. Great workshop. Amercan craftmanship with hand tools. A worthwhile investment.
google avatar

Candace B.

Yelp
Beautiful lights I would take anything in this store they all look so good. Unfortunately, with beauty and craftsmanship you have to pay dearly some of these lights are very pricey. But, being pricey here I think is ok they are hand made and have a lifetime guarantee. The staff here is very knowledgeable of their product and there are also some guys in the back showing how they put they lights together...and they know their stuff as well! If you are looking for some gas lights you need to check this place out if they dont have it they will make it for you!

Yelp
Last summer, we signed a contract to hold an event in April 2015, at Bevolo's Royal Street location. We placed a $500 deposit. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we recently had to cancel the event. They returned our deposit immediately without delay. These people are professional and pleasant to do business with!

Yelp
We just visited beautiful New Orleans for the first time in October. We were fortunate to have spent time in the Bevolo Gas and Electric Lights Museum. Wow! The lanterns and their historical impact on the city is artfully displayed. Plus, you get the added bonus of watching and talking with the skilled craftsmen building the lanterns, in much the same way they have been since 1945. We got the pleasure of meeting Nate and Jeb, who took time to show us the process of making the iconic copper lights that you see everywhere in NOLA. Thanks guys, we enjoyed your hospitality! If you visit the city, I highly recommend a stop to this family owned, historic business.

Kurt H.

Yelp
I grew up on the North Shore of New Orleans and have always had a kindred spirit with the city and it's architecture. From the Garden District to the Quarter, New Orleans is defined by a certain character and feel. Bevolo lights are an iconic symbol of New Orleans and provide that feel of old New Orleans. I moved from New Orleans many years ago and recently renovated a 100 year old house. I proposed to my wife to install a Bevolo light in the front yard or porch. Since it is a 2nd house it wasn't an option, so I eventually forgot about it. However on a recent trip to New Orleans I wandered into the shop (again) to look at the hand made lights with impeccable craftsmanship. I looked around and was about to leave when I noticed small versions of the regular sized lamps in the rest of the store. When I inquired about what they were I was told they are miniatures of the standard lights that can be used with candles. What a perfect idea! So I bought one and it's now sitting on my buffet table and gets lit most week nights. I now have a little piece of New Orleans in my home. Les Bon Temps Roule!

Yelp
awesome handmade light fixtures, hard to find this type of stuff nowadays
