The Best Savannah, Georgia, Restaurants | Eater Carolinas

"Out in Pooler, Bewon Korean BBQ has never been busier. On Friday and Saturday nights, crowds happily wait upwards of an hour to enjoy small cups of soju and big servings of braised pig’s feet, spicy sea snail, cold noodle salad, and all the Korean barbecue classics. Bewon also serves hot pot for two and is still one of the only places in Savannah that will satisfy when you catch hot pot fever." - Kiki Dy

11 Best Asian Restaurants Near Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"Bewon has never been busier. Beyond Savannah proper alongside U.S. 80, Pooler’s buzzy Korean barbecue locale is no longer a secret. Every weekend, crowds happily wait upwards of an hour to enjoy small cups of soju and big servings of bulgogi, galbi, japchae, and hot-pot meals for two. Warning: overindulging is easy here." - Kiki Dy

I visited this restaurant while on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised by the food, it was flavorful and authentic. The staff were friendly and welcoming, though there’s room for improvement in terms of service speed. It took a bit longer than expected for some of our requests to be fulfilled. The place appeared clean but felt somewhat outdated in terms of decor and atmosphere. That said, it was still a solid Korean restaurant overall, and I’d consider coming back for the food alone.

We were passing through the area and were wanting some good Korean food. This place was delicious! My hot stone bipmbap was so good with a great flavor and crispy rice. My husband loved his spicy porch dish. Also the banchan was great quality. The servers there were very welcoming.

Google
A small hidden gem in a strip mall. Sorry for the photos, we were really hungry. Friendly, rapid service. You can grill yourself or order prepared. The stone bowls are excellent for keeping the meal hot. Want your egg cooked more? Just drop it to the bottom. Tasty food, no complaints.

My wife and I were heading home from a short trip and wanted some good Korean food. She found this place and i am glad she did! Everyrhing was delicious! She got the Hot Stone Bibimbap and I had the spicy pork stirfry. We will definitely plan our trips north around stopping here again!

Google
5 STARS all the way! From the service, kindness, quality of food, options, cleanliness, truly exceptional. Yes, it can be pretty pricey. I guess this will not be something you do a lot, but it’s worth the price and the treat

Google
The food and service were excellent. My favorite was the Korean fried chicken. The seafood onion pancake was delicious. No complaints, and I'm glad I finally got a chance to try it. Will return.

Google

Google
I was pretty surprised to see there was a quite authentic Korean restaurant near Savannah. The servers may not look like Asians but they were really friendly and gave us the attention. The food was also good but only 4 stars because my standard is the restaurants we visited 3 months ago at Seoul's restaurant district. I will eat here again when the opportunity presents.

Yelp
Savannah doesn't have a lot of authentic Asian cuisine (speaking from someone that lives in Dallas) so I was super super surprised when we found this spot and everything was TOP NOTCH! The banchan/ side dishes were so good, especially the kimchi and spicy radish. It was a 20 min wait for the grill table for 2 people and this place definitely gets pretty busy. We ordered the chef's special meat platter, tteokbokki, and seafood pancake. The crispy on the pancake was immaculate! Meat quality was great too. This is NOT ayce, but pay for what you get and I prefer a place like this The grill platter combo came with complimentary steamed eggs and veggies which was so nice! They even give you unlimited lettuce to wrap the meat in and eat with the banchan. Honestly if I lived in Savannah and wanted legit Korean food, I'd go here all the time. They have plenty of other delicious sounding food on the menu. I'll be back the next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Food is Korean, authentic Korean Service is ok Ambiance is cold and utilitarian...they want you to eat and leave the table for the next diner. If you want to eat and go for lunch...this is the place.

Yelp
Fantastic Korean BBQ restaurant that offers grill at table or pre-cooked menus, depending on the Korean experience you want. Cooking at table is fun but we opted for precooked this time. I ordered the traditional BEEF BIBIMBAP. They also offer a hot stone version where veges are cooked warm instead of raw. It comes with rice on side that you can mix in, which is .last delicious way to eat. I am on low carb diet so it's perfectly left uneaten on side. The dish is a delicious healthy keto treat! The Korean hot sauce on table really makes the dish! Don't miss out! Most entrees come with sides. They pick the sides for you, and are mostly vegetables. It's a great part of the Korean experience. The soup was not to my liking.

Yelp
Wow, best bimibap i ever had in this area of Georgia, Food was fresh reasonably priced and good portions! The owner was friendly and our server Billy was very nice and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
A group of us went to this restaurant Saturday. We were seated immediately and the gentleman was able to answer many questions. The prices seemed a bit high but I guess the complimentary sides are one of the perks. Out of the six of us, four of us liked our meals. I would give this place a second chance. They do add on gratuity for parties of six or more. Side note- by the end of our meal several of us were extremely hot. Not sure if their AC gave out, but they did try to accommodate the guests from the heat from outside by having fans. I'd say give them a try and see for yourself.

Yelp
Phenomenal Korean BBQ and other Korean delicacies, including sushi, soo doo boo, Kim chew stew, and a lot more. The service was outstanding, being taken care of by multiple servers. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience

Yelp
Great experience here! Food was extremely fresh and tasted amazing. All the servers were attentive and helpful. Raya was our server and took time to go over the menu and made great recommendations!

Yelp
The food is great, and the service is top notch. They are always checking in to ensure everything is going well. It's fun to cook your own food and keeps children entertained at the same time. It's nice for a day date or evening date. My family has gone a few times and we will continue to recommend. The sweet tea is probably one of the best I've had to date.

Yelp
We stopped by on our way home from Florida. With a significant wait for both the BBQ and non-BBQ sides of the restaurant, we decided to get beers and chill at the bar. We were told we could not eat at the bar but ended up enjoying a Gimbap while we waited for a table. First time trying Gimbap, it was tasty and great with beer. After a short wait we got a table and ended up ordering the grilled mackerel and the hot stone bibimbap with chicken. The mackerel was perfectly cooked though a bit bland -- might be traditional Korean style. The bibimbap was very tasty with some delicious crusty rice. Not being very experienced with Korean food I thought the six banchan were tasty. Overall, great service, tasty food and a surprising and enjoyable cross cultural experience. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Yelp
Korean in Pooler?! Am I dreaming?! Being from Duluth, GA, I know Korean food and it's one of my fave cuisines. I was sad when I moved to savannah because I would be missing out on a lot of the "melting pot" Duluth has to offer. I was so surprised when we found Bewon. Tucked away, I only found out about it because of Yelp! I'm giving it 5 stars but to be far I only participated in a take out order. I'm hoping to come back and try their service out. I will say the person that took our order was patient and helpful as we asked questions over the phone! When we walked in they were SLAMMED! So this seems to be the place to be on a Sunday afternoon. The ambiance felt like you were at home. We order pork and beef bulgogi, rice, Kimichi, & potstickers. All of this costed us about $60-$70. It was sort of pricey but the food portions were pretty big! We ate on the leftovers for 2 days! The quality was also very delicious. The Kimichi appears to be house made. They give you various sides with your food as well. FINAL VERDICT: We will definitely be back here and I recommend it. The food was fresh and even reheated well! This seems to be the type of small business in the area that we need to support so they continue to reach their full potential! Can't wait to be back :)

Yelp
Great Korean BBQ place tucked away! We stopped here for dinner on my way back home from the airport. I've lived here for 7 years but never knew this place was here! Thankfully we came in for dinner around 6 on a weekday. By the time we left, they were packed and all the BBQ stations fill up fast. For 2 people we tried the BBQ portions of thinly sliced pork belly and brisket. It was A LOT of food. We were sure which meat to get, hence the two options. In hindsight, if you get an appetizer, one meat portion is good for two people because it comes with a good serving of vegetables and accoutrement. The other person got fried dumplings as an app. I did not eat them since I'm gluten-free and wanted to save room for the BBQ. However it did take a while for everything to come out. I should have gotten something to munch on while we waited. I liked both meat options. Once we had the right cook time down, everything was great. Next time: I'll try the regular pork belly. I saw someone else with it and

Yelp
We stopped by while traveling through. We were a bit worried when the parking lot had few cars and few customers inside. In looking at the menu we found the prices to be a bit high especially for lunch. We order pork bulgogi (17.95) and Hot stone pot bibimbap with chicken (18.95). The pork bulgogi was served with a variety of sides of kimchi, pickled radish etc. The food was good but not worth the price for lunch. ($57 with tip) The service was good and the restaurant decor was nothing special. Over all ok but would try another place next time in the area.

Yelp
7 open tables, 1hr 45min wait. Was told they were all reserved. Called 4 hours prior and was told they do not take reservations

Yelp
Family has been going here before the Hyundai Korean invasion. Love the fact they keep the same great quality of food. Service is awesome and the staff are very knowledgeable.
google avatar

Yelp
It was just ok. Servers seemed a little overwhelmed. It was very busy and food took a long time to come out. All of the beef was chewy and fatty.

Yelp
Great Korean Restaurant. Lots of old head Koreans eat there. Must be good. No frills just good quality food and service.

Yelp
A few years ago I got a friend hooked on Korean bibimbap bowls. Whenever she visits me, that's on the menu. Since then, I've been working to get her to try this spot. They did not fail me! We were seated quickly and the waitress was super friendly and patient as we asked questions. My friend and I ordered the bowls and her husband got the beef bulgogi. The little side dishes ahead of getting the food were good: kimchi, kimchi cucumber, Korean potato salad, pickled radish, bok choy and fish cakes (no thanks). You can get as many "refills" as you like. Our food was so good!! The bibimbap bowls are huge, so arrive hungry. The red sauce wasn't too hot, which I appreciated as I've had it at some places and my lips got chapped. My friend devoured his bulgogi. The environment was laid back, and did get busier as people came in after work. I couldn't tell if they had a bar or not. Put this on your list if you're in the area.

Yelp
My new favorite restaurant on the planet!!! The beef bugolgi is so fresh and so sweet. And their sides just keep coming. when you think that you're done with sides, then they'll bring two more sides. Their beef dumplings are soooo good, had to get a large order to-go. They're food taste like love!!!! Find me there every Friday!!! Im a FAN!!!!

Yelp
This place is located in the Pooler GA area. I live in Lancaster SC. My husband and I ate there once on our way home. The food was really tasty and fresh. I called my daughter and had her look at the menu to see if she wanted anything. As a result we ordered takeout as well. We recently drove through the area again and stopped in for a meal. It was a Friday night, and they had a waitlist, so we ordered take out. My husband had a vegetarian fried rice. I ordered the Ginseng Chicken Soup. The fried rice was delicious. My ginseng chicken soup was lacking in flavor. I lived in South Korea for a little over three years, so I am familiar with authentic Korean food, and this one just didn't hit the mark for me. I would try it again for a sit down dinner. I would not try the Korean fried chicken. Tried it on my first visit, and it was okay. The place is popular with the locals.

Bill L.

Yelp
Food is excellent and authentic due to many Koreans who live in area Kendrick guided us through the very extensive menu and we made perfect choices He was very helpful!!! We will definitely return since it is less than 5 minutes from interstate 95 perfect for this long road trips to stop here! Also oldest Korean restaurant in area

Marissa M.

Yelp
Great food, not so great service. We had a party of 10 and they forgot 2 of our party's order. They apologized but didn't offer a solution to make it right. Following that, we asked for our checks and it took 45 minutes to get a check to pay and those two who didn't get their food are still waiting (they asked for it to go given the circumstances). Do better!

Harin S.

Yelp
Sashimi bibimbap had lots of veggies and fresh fish. Service was good. Only thing that needs to improve is their side dishes .
google avatar

Edgar H.

Yelp
Great Korean food! You can choose to have a grill on your table or without it. Nice selection of food. Great service! Will definitely go back.

Robert S.

Yelp
My wife and I had supper there tonight. We had BBQ Beef Bulgogi it came with rice and assortment of kimchi. I asked for a side of leaf lettuce. We cooked the bulgogi ourselves at the table, it was to die for! I mean it was as good as I've had since I lived in Korea. First we tried it with the rice and kimchi. Then I fixed it by taking a full leaf of lettuce, then adding the bulgogi, then on top of that I added various types of kimchi, rolled it up and enjoyed it so much! The service was excellent, wait time was only 20 minutes even though they were packed. Walking in the aroma and decorations had me thinking I was back in Korea! Cost was a little high but the meal as fantastic and that in itself balances it all out! I'd recommend you give this place a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Omg. SOOOO GOOD This place does get a busy busy, but they abide by health and safety standards which was really refreshing. All staff wears masks and there is a temperature check when you walk in. We did the Korean bbq and got Korean fried chicken. The chicken was okay, I've definitely had better Korean fried chicken, but the sauce is yummy. We ordered the beef bulgogi, and garlic pork shoulder. Both were SO GOOD, and cooked SO WELL. We did have some issues with burning the little stove, but I bet it's because we aren't pros lol. Staff was super friendly and accommodating, can't wait to go back.

Daniel P.

Yelp
Overall a authentic, satisfying visit. Might try a different Korean restaurant or the bbq here next time. Tteokbokki: rice cakes a little dry and not a lot of sauce, but overall good flavor and quantity for the small size. Black bean noodle: good quantity and good flavor, but could have more flavor Pros: Clean Free side dishes Friendly staff Good for family Cons: Small shared parking lot Menu is on the expensive side

Yelp
We tried Bewon last night, wanting to try something different. It was our first time having Korean BBQ and the staff couldn't be more welcoming. The hostess (owner?) and waitress explained everything and checked in often. I had the beef brisket and my fiancée had pork belly. The sauces were perfect. We ate through the sides before our meals arrived but luckily they were unlimited. The cucumber kimchi and pickled radish were wonderful. Next time we will sit at a table we're you cook the meat yourself.

Yelp
We were traveling through the Savannah area and decided to come back for dinner at the Bewon Korean BBQ. The place was "hopping" for an early evening Sunday dinner. As soon as a table opened up, a group would come in to fill it. The kitchen and staff are a well-oiled machine; there was a bit of a wait for our order to be taken, and our food to be prepared but considering the retaurant was all but fully occupied I think they did a phenomenal job. The restaurant is clean and well laid out with tabletop grills on one side and regular table tops on the other. I had my usual dolsot beef bibim bop, but there were choices of chicken or tofu also. Hubby had his favorite, spicy pork, along with gim bop and miso soup. One good sign that the food is authentic Korean is that there were very few Caucasians eating in the restaurant, with 99% being Asian/Korean. We will definitely come back when we are in town again.
google avatar

Blake S.

Yelp
Was ready to drop $200 to just chill and grill on an unoccupied grill and girl told me I had to wait an hour and 40min aka when they close no stars
google avatar

Hwal L.

Yelp
This is a solid Korean restaurant that, as far as I could tell, doesn't mess with the traditional unlike many others. We were seated promptly, and food didn't take too long to come out. Their bibim is legit - none of the filler toppings like lettuce or cabbage, the bowl is impressively large, and the chili sauce is not burning hot, although it did give me a bit of a burn afterwards. Their non-spicy pork bulgogi was tender and delicious, and the side dishes were a godsend because bulgogi does tend to be very much meat-centric otherwise. Several staff came around to check on us, and one of them offered to refill our sides even before we asked, which is outstanding. Oh and a lemon wedge for the water? An icing on the cake if you ask me. I hope they keep doing well.

Yelp
I visited here this weekend from out of town. Great authentic cuisine. Generous portions. Very friendly service and atmosphere. Definitely will be eating here again.
google avatar

Ben P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, food, and service! Didn't expect to find a Korean BBQ spot in Pooler but I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Eleni J.

Yelp
This place really gets better over time. As you can see my review history, I wasn't that impressed at first. Yet over time, I can see their steady improvement and now it has literally become my favorite Asian restaurant. Their current staff team is amazing. Everyone is friendly, efficient and makes you feel like home. The portion is decent for its price. The owner is always there on top of everything. It really shows you that a successful restaurant is hard work of a whole team.

Whirly Pop 5.

Yelp
The best Korean bbq around here! Service is good Overall I really recommend it. Worth the money!
google avatar

Janelle W.

Yelp
Best Korean food in town. Our old reliables are the japchae and the hot pot Bulgogi (this stuff is crack). We have had the Korean bbq as well and the meats are good too (tender and flavorful). It can be a little pricey but the servings are humongous and you get every dollars worth. If you aren't too familiar with Korean food, try different dishes before you make your mind up about this place, you will find something you love! I wouldn't recommend any other Korean place in pooler or Savannah. This is the one!

Cortney B.

Yelp
I have been traveling through that area twice and stopped both times! The food is awesome and such great service!
google avatar

Danah H.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. I wasn't expecting to have such a wonderful experience from the moment I stepped in to the time I went out the door. The restaurant was very clean with plenty of room that your not sitting to close to anybody else. They have the grill tables and regular tables and I wasn't in the mood for the grills. I was greeted and showed to my table immediately and handed a menu. I ordered the Kimchi soup and an order of Kim bop. The soup was so flavorful and had nice pieces of tofu, pork, kimchi and slices of a doughy dumpling thing that I couldn't get enough of. The Kim bop was fresh and wonderful to dip in my tangy soup. We also had the spicy squid and he loved it. We both agree that it was the best squid we have ever eaten. We will definitely be back very soon, maybe even tomorrow.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
This was a special road-trip find. We don't often find food like this away from our diverse urban home. Go here. That's it. Go here. The bbq meats were excellent. The dumplings were good and the kimchi was yum! And best of all the service was so nice and the family so hardworking and sweet. Really enjoyed our meal here.

Kelly V.

Yelp
Great place, great food and service. My hubby and I always enjoy what we order and there's a lot of it so we often have leftovers. Check it out!
google avatar

Kathy P.

Yelp
My favorite Korean restaurant I have found so far in the Savannah/pooler area. Delicious banchan, good customer service, and the food is always fresh and so yummy. I've had their gimbap, spicy squid, Korean tofu soup, and tteokbokki. Everything has been very good. Highly recommend you give this authentic Korean restaurant a try.
google avatar

Marianna F.

Yelp
Love the banchan! (Korean side dishes) The kimchi here is my all time favorite in town! Love the owner, she's very sweet! This place is definitely one of my go-to spots. It's usually crowded on the weekends so try to come throughout the week if you can! (:
google avatar

Moises J.

Yelp
I come from the DC area with a rather large Korean community that I'm spoiled with lots of good options for Korean BBQ. This place was as good as some of them.

Tina M.

Yelp
Busy when we walked in but got a seat in the bbq side right away. The grill was a bit slow to cook but could just be I wasn't used to it and used to my go to kbbq spot back in Bham. Got the bulgogi and la galbi...oh mah gah it was so good. I was sucking on the bone to get every last bit of flavor. Side dishes were good but I was confused that I got broccoli when another tables got cucumbers because that seemed more of a traditional side dish. Place was cute and clean. Excellent place
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Pooler is chock-a-block with 2 or 3 star joints. Being here for a month and disappointed in crappy Mexican (you have to really TRY to screw that up!) and disgusting grease-pool fries and... edible burgers, it was time to change it up and step away. Bewon was the ticket! I've never been to a Korean BBQ. You can cook your own food on the table grill or let them do it for you in the kitchen. Not wanting to get the fire department involved, they cooked for me. Beef Bulgogi and endless varietal appetizers were a God-send! BUT... just to be sure it wasn't a fluke or the bar of expectation was set to limbo level, I went back and tried again. This time I was feeling adventurous and trusting. The Beef Tongue said I tasted so delicious! Around $20-25 including fountain drink and 20% tip. I'll be back...
google avatar

Darryl W.

Yelp
A hole in the wall type of restaurant that was surprisingly very spacious inside. The beef bulgogi was definitely the best I've ever had, and the garlic pork shoulder was very decent. The portion size was A LOT better than I expected. I've always been cautious on going to these types of restaurants due to the fear of spending a lot for small portions. This place definitely gives you what you paid for. The restaurant was very clean, and the staff was friendly. The food was pricier than expected, but I'll definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Mela B.

Yelp
There isn't much for Korean food in the entire area of Savannah GA, Beaufort SC. So this place is a breath of fresh air! Although we've moved from the area, this is where I went to for my Korean food cravings, and found no reason to try any others. It's clean, the wait staff friendly and hard working, and they're open even at 3 pm. Highly recommend the usual korean dishes: dolsot bibimbap, the dumpling soup with rice cakes, japchae. The only dish I wasn't a fan of was their Korean pancake (pajeon). I like mine a little more on the crispy and chewy side. Theirs was almost like in a fluffy pancake batter? In any case, it shouldn't keep you away from enjoying all the great other food they offer! They also have bbq grill tables, or can order bulgogi cooked in the kitchen at a regular table. Enjoy!
google avatar

Parker B.

Yelp
Best Korean food and beef and pork bulgogi in Georgia, I have had great Korean in Colorado and Missouri. second time eating here, first time for dinner. Prices are fair and worth every penny, and Korean fried chicken best I have ever had east of the Mississippi River. Will recommend to everyone.
google avatar

Jime W.

Yelp
This is now our GO-TO Korean restaurant: seriously it's worth the drive even though I have two others super close. Large portions, clean environment and super friendly service in a large Korean restaurant. Keep up the excellence--if you build it, they will come (just like we do!)
