Beyond Juice Chain Expands to Second Detroit Location in New Center | Eater Detroit

"Founded in 2005 and expanding aggressively since 2015, this Michigan juice-bar chain is opening a New Center outpost in The Boulevard mixed-use development. The 1,800-square-foot café will seat roughly 25, begin construction in July and is now on track for a fall opening, joining fitness tenant Orangetheory at the corner of 3rd Street and West Grand Boulevard. Menu highlights include smoothies (notably the Northern Berry with Michigan cherries, blueberries, strawberries, bananas and coconut water), raw juices, smoothie and quinoa bowls, lemonade, wraps, salads, and house-made items such as salsa, hummus, salad dressings and nut butters. The shop is part of a broader regional rollout — eight locations were expected to open by the end of 2019 for a total of 15, with additional builds underway in Shelby Township, Orchard Lake and Clarkston." - Brenna Houck

I’ve given Beyond Juicery location two chances, and unfortunately, both visits have been disappointing. The main issue seems to be chronic understaffing, which is reflected in the service and attention to detail. The first time, I ordered the hummus and beets salad with chicken. I was in a hurry, only to find out later at work that the chicken was missing—despite being charged for it. I called for over 40 minutes before someone finally answered, and their response felt dismissive, as if my concern didn’t matter. Hoping the first experience was a one-off, I went back today. Again, I ordered the same salad for two people with chicken and extra toppings. This time, I checked the bag before leaving, only to find that the chicken and extras were missing again. When I asked for the chicken, they handed me a tiny portion in a plastic bag, like an afterthought. I understand being short-staffed and overworked, but consistent mistakes and poor customer service aren’t acceptable, especially for a franchise. I won’t be returning, and I hope management takes steps to address these recurring issues.

As much as I love the food at Beyond Juicery, I have a suggestion that would work for people like myself who is hard of hearing. I would like to see a system where customers receive a message on their phone whenever their order is ready. Oftentimes a worker might call my name when my food is ready and I don't hear them because I'm hearing impaired. So that means I would have to go to the counter a few times to see if my food was placed there. So maybe Beyond can start a system where customers can receive a message to let them know that their food is ready. Then I can make one trip. Again I love eating there. The food is great! The southwestern style meals are my favorite. Hope ♥️

I work in the area so I eat here often, my coworkers as well. I have never had any issues with my order or the staff. Everyone is so friendly and always speak. Some very nice young ladies work there. HOWEVER, yesterday September 29, 2025 I went into the store around 4:30/5pm and it was EXTREMELY hot and smokey. There were 3 young ladies working and orders coming in repeatedly, and also customers in the store. I asked them why it was so hot and they stated there were issues with ac system. I personally think they should have closed for the day. That was very unacceptable for those 3 employees. It was so bad that one of the girls stated her eyes were burning, and you can see all 3 of them sweating. I would like to commend them for there hard work and still continuing to work hard and fast during that time. And I would like to also commend the police officer that held the front door open for them to get air. Great job ladies! Horrible call on management for keeping that store open without air

This Beyond Juice is great. It’s always clean, quiet place to work, and the staff are quite friendly. My favorite smoothie so far is the Razzle Dazzle, perfect mix of sweet and tart, but the Cookie Butter Smoothie (a little banana forward, pictured) is nice as well.

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but the treatment I received over the phone was unprofessional, rude, and not at all helpful. I ordered two smoothies and a salad under Lauren R, on 3/11/25. I got an Island Surge (w/Strawberry), a Banana Nut (w/Vegan Protein & PB) and a Fresca Market Salad (w/extra strips, spicy cilantro, and bacon). I sent my friend to go retrieve the items, and he came back with the with the wrong entree, a wrap. He said that when he arrived, my smoothies & the bag were all placed together, in a group, so he grabbed them. He went to the register, at the counter and said he was there to pick an order up. He said "I'm here to pick an online order up for Lauren R." The woman told him he needed to wait until the order was done. A few moments later, the smoothies and bag was placed in front of my friend, on the counter and my name was called. My friend got the food, and left. When he arrived here, the order was wrong. The smoothes were fine, but I ordered a Southwest Salad and got a wrap instead, with chickpeas and egg whites. By the photos, you can see I didn't order this. So I called the store, hoping to make things right. This is where it went left. An incredibly rude employee answered, and when I explained the situation, she was quick to shift blame on to us. Saying it was our fault that we grabbed the wrong thing, not even allowing me to explain that my friend got the order directly from a worker. Whomever I spoke with was aggressive, argumentative, and didn't even apologize for the mistake. She repeated, multiple times, that we were to blame because we didn't grab the right item. My friend said the bag, and two smoothies, were placed together in their own lane. So it would be impossible for any error, since he grabbed only the isolated items. She just wanted to absolve all blame and directly say we were at fault. And, I couldn't even speak to a manager about it. She said I had to call back on 30 minutes. Honestly, I wouldn't have left anything if the employee I talked too wasn't so argumentative and rude. No apology, no trying to make it right, no questions on what I got. Just straight denying and no accountability. I spent nearly 40 dollars here. Anyone wanting to visit this location - don't. Not if the employees are going to have attitudes and get pissy for THEIR own mistakes. Human error happens, and that's fine. But how it was handled, that's what I have an issue with.

Understaffed, I placed an online order 20-30 minutes ago and there was one guy working. 4 people were sitting and waiting for their order and 3 more walked in and two others waiting from door dash. The “manager” was the only one working up front and didn’t call for help. Then after he clears the line a person comes walking out of the back to help. It’s understood that sometimes places are understaffed, but the lack of communication to get help by the manager was odd. Then also the whole store is dirty, products just laying around and sitting out for who knows how long. Nothing is properly put away or covered with lids. I’ve also watched the manager touch food then the register with gloves then walk back and touch the food. Another customer was frustrated too and asking if there’s a number to call because it doesn’t seem like the manager of the shift really knows how to call for help. They just need assistance down here for opening up a location that has a hospital, courthouse, school, etc..Staff to amount of people in the area is just lacking. I finally get my order and it’s made incorrectly so now I have to wait another 15 minutes for him to remake it and the breakfast wrap wasn’t even cooked.

Beyond is my favorite place to buy a smoothie. Unfortunately I prefer some locations more than others because of the service. I went in today to buy a Create Your Own smoothie, the cashier had the nastiest attitude for no reason at all. I asked for Cacao to go in my smoothie, she said huh? Cow?, I said it again, she said oh we don't have that. I said yes you do. She says cay-co? I just kept quiet and paid for my food. Staff should know how to correctly pronounce the ingredients. I also asked for FRESH strawberries, not the ones in the syrup, she had an attitude when I checked to be sure that they were the fresh ones. Sadly I won't be back here.

I placed a pickup order at this location and it was completely empty and I still had to wait for my order. I think the girl making my smoothie was new but it tastes awful, I am a normal beyond customer and this smoothie tastes like straight ice and I watched her put a banana that was born on both sides into my smoothie. The other girl working with her was very unprofessional. I ordered a bacon, avocado grilled cheese and about 5 mins after me standing there she tells me there’s no avocado. I tell her okay then just refund me, and she says I need to do that myself when I am a usual beyond customer I know you have to do it on the stores end. I am very disappointed with my experience this morning and will never be returning to this location.

Beyond is so healthy and fresh. I love their salads and smoothies, and I'm sure everything is delicious. The carrot ginger dressing is so good and as a treat, I LOVE the coffee smoothie. These salads and wraps are worth your monies. It's always tough for me to order salads because I make such great ones at home, but their homemade dressings and variety of ingredients make it easy to order here. Yum! I ordered through Uber Eats and my delivery was perfect.

So the young ladies working were sweet and on top of things. However, beyond needs to stop selling food. It's literally gross. I got soup and it is basically out of a can but over $6 and I don't even get a full cup or cheese. Maybe they should stick to learning how to improve smoothies instead of food because no way!

Had lunch from here for the first time today. My smoothie was great, no complaints, and my sandwich was tasty, too. Why only three stars? Because having to pay an extra $1 for a "low carb" wrap is ridiculous and paying $12 for a sandwich is just as ridiculous. $20 for a smoothie and wrap sandwich. Nah.

The flavors were great! As someone who wants to add minimal ingredients but keep the freshness, this is the place. No sugar is added to the drinks just the fruit and some veggies depending on what you get. Most have kale and spinach but the drinks aren't bitter. If you think smoothie king is "fresh" then this place is beyond "fresh". Highly recommended.

I should have walked out when we saw the two workers were having a loud conversation with each other and acting like customer service was a nuisance for them. No greeting. Continued loud conversation as my goddaughter and I waited at the register for them to stop talking. I dared not order a smoothie. (Look at my previous post about how they make smoothies.) My goddaughter ordered a smoothie (which we had to remind the gentleman to give to us) and a Caesar wrap. She seemed satisfied with her order. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. The sandwich had no taste. The tortilla was not fresh. And there was definitely no sauce, but some other liquid oozed out of it. I found a 1/2 inch of rubbery piece of something in the wrap, which my goddaughter guessed must be a piece of bacon. I threw out the 1/2 that I started to eat. I considered returning the other half. But what is the point?

I want to love Beyond Juicery every time I order from them but it's always something and doesn't matter which location. Yesterday I ordered a wrap and asked for "NO FETA" in the notes section, yet there were huge chunks of feta and very little amount of veggies (which is all I ordered) so it was disappointing. My juice was so strong with ginger that it overpowered every other flavor. On other occasions I've ordered ciabatta bread with my salads and never received it and I've waited by the counter for 10 minutes before while no one told me my order was ready yet they kept it behind the counter so I couldn't see it. Please train your employees to care a little more because there have been so many incidents now that I'm pretty hesitant to order from this company going forward.

Let me start by saying Beyond is my favorite Juicery. I've frequented most of them in the Detroit area and love the service and the offerings. This new location however, could benefit from the tutelage of the others. The smoothies were spilled over the cup (offered dirty cups) and I was dismayed that after placing my order online, it was not ready when I arrived. May in time they will work out these issues.

So happy this location opened up! The service is wonderful and the food is great! I had the Turkey wrap and a fresh juice and it was excellent. I've had the açaí bowl a few times there as welll and that has also been excellent!
