"At the food hall, I saw that BF Bakery and Cafe focuses on Asian baked goods like egg tarts, pandan cake, buns, bread, as well as coffee and tea." - Nadia Chaudhury

The pastries and baked goods here taste good and are reasonably priced. Purchased a durian cake here and it contained real durian. Cream was light and not too sweet. The cake was a little too firm and needs to be more spongy because the top of the cake slides when cutting it. Service can be kind of slow here since the baked goods aren’t pre bagged and the cashier has to bag each item.

Fresh fresh bread! It's inside 99 Ranch. It smells good here. They have soft, fluffy bread. They ran out of boba and egg tart when we got there. There was a long line but it goes fast. One thing I noticed is that they pack each bread individually which I think is unnecessary. If you buy 10 different breads, they put it in 10 separate plastic. Then, they put them all in a shopping bag. I understand, they dont want the flavors to get mixed. I would really want to try their egg tart, hopefully available when we go back.

Q: What is the baker’s favorite TV show? A: The Walking Bread. I love bread. Maybe even more than Oprah! I love sweet pastries and savory pastries. Pork floss bun? Hot dog bao? A bread with a mountain of whipped cream? Yes please! And while I love me some Asian baked goods, BF Bakery & Cafe is probably on the bottom of my list of Arizona Asian bakeries. Not to say that they're bad but I'd rather walk out of 99 Ranch Market, head eastward, and into the store to their left. IYKYK. Nonetheless, they still occasionally get me to open my wallet and purchase some cold watermelon juice and coconut bread. Hey, I love bread, okay?

This is a great bakery with a variety of great pastries and cakes. They also have boba drinks. I tried their charcoal baked oolong latte for the first time on this visit and it was fantastic! It wasn't that sweet and I could really taste the unique flavor that comes from the oolong roasting over charcoal. Great quality tea and I'll definitely be getting this drink again and trying their other drinks as well soon!

Google
warning: when purchasing a babo tea from them you might be getting ripped of. normally, you should get a same amount of drink either with / without ice. this shop won't give the a full size drink without ice even when you pay the same price. this is ridiculous, and the staff definitely doesnt want to help and has a horrible attitude. will never purchase from them again. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great pastries and boba is pretty tasty too. Also, at $2.49 for milk tea you can’t complain!

Google
God bless this little bakery. When you get a boba drink here, the bobas come out perfect every time. Everything is cheap and fresh and tastes amazing and the staff are nice. Excellent spot to spend a lunch break.

Google
Pretty good but the 85 degree bakery next to it is better for sure. Sometimes the people working there seem annoyed or uninterested for no reason. Also different employees allow different things. For instance one time someone allowed us to just buy one thing on the clearance section for half off rather then get something else but another time they acted like we were crazy. Clearance section is cool but there is hardly any time where things match up well. If they are trying to get rid of that stuff before it goes bad you figure they would be more willing to discount them.

Yelp
Selection of breads are not as big but I come here for the egg custard. In my opinion, it's the best one. When you bite into it, you can hear and taste the layers and crunch of the crust. The egg custard is not sweet as most egg custards, making them my favorite.

Yelp
This is my favorite bakery. Though the bakeries around me are bagging up each pastry, I'm not sure why this one isn't. It will sure help with the fly issues but the pastries here are always reasonably priced compared to 85C or Paris Baguette and they're so much bigger portion too. But nonetheless, my favorite bun here is the pork floss bun, cream pipped bun, and or the coconut buns. Occasionally, I don't mind the red bean buns.

Yelp
I looked over the pastries at the BF pastry store inside the 99 ranch store and they were bringing out new pastries from the back. The red bean buns looked pretty good so I bought one of those and then their almond buns looked really fresh so I bought that as well. I prefer the almond bun much more than the red bean because the almond bun was a little more buttery and the red bean was just a little plain. There was only one cashier and she was helping one other customer, which led to the line backing up at the register with people who were waiting to check out. I really prefer if they could just bag up their pastries in their case just like 85 bakery because it seems to be more sanitary when the buns are already bagged up. However, I did speak to someone about considering bagging them up and instead of just having the customers use tongs to put on a wax paper on a tray and bring them all up to the cashier. The employee said that that was just their process. Also, I do think that the line would go much faster if they did pre-bag the small pastries in a bag since the cashier actually bags each of the individual buns herself, which I don't think is very sanitary since she accepts the money and the credit cards and gives out the receipts, so that's just my thought.

Yelp
The bakery is located inside 99 Ranch Market. You get your tray and select the items from the case that's out in the open. We selected a few pastries and a few cake pieces from the front case. Everything was packaged nicely and the cake pieces were delicately placed in a nice box with a handle. I grew up eating pastries like these, so I wasn't wow'd about anything. But I will say this, the custard in one of the items was perfect for my liking as it wasn't overly sweet. Same goes for the cake pieces, there were both super light and airy... like a cloud and just the right amount of sweet. The white cake slice was mango flavored, but you could hardly taste the mango. The strawberry mousse was perfect in flavor and texture. I will come back for the mousse cake in different flavors.

Yelp
Bf? More like BFFR I had a legit relationship with the chicken curry puffs. Barely would our paths cross but when they did I was transported to puff pastries I had as a kid. Went when they opened and cashier said the bread hadn't risen and would maybe have them prepped in an hour or so (tbh this should have served as a warning bc a buff pastry is not bread ) Luckily I was in the area so I swung back and to my surprise I finally saw her glistening in the case again. Today, after god knows how long I finally met my long lost lover again. Unfortunately, she had tanned to the point of no crunch, become limpy - and turned vegetarian!! No chicken to be found no actual filling - idk what the hell they filled in there with the mushroom over load (as a mushroom lover I was throughly disappointed after I got over the no chicken hump) ADDITIONALLY, she's become expensive for what quality you're getting. I never liked the other things at bf when I had tried them but now I don't think I'm ever going back lol Thx for ruining my lover and VIOLATING HER AND MY PALLET. Ex lovers now. May we meet again in my kitchen now that I have to create her myself. BF = bad food Go to 85 bakery instead, they don't let you down

Yelp
This bakery is conveniently located inside 99 Ranch supermarket, so easy to get some baked goods while you do your Asian ingredients shopping. We tried this place out two times and unfortunately, the items that we got left something to be desired. The first time, my partner got a slice of mango and green tea cake. We were both looking forward to try both slices, as we have both eaten numerous Asian-inspired cakes (domestically and in Asia) and know they are good and usually not too sweet. I only tried the mango slice, but I was disappointed. The cake tasted like nothing at all, but was not too sweet and light. Felt like eating sugar really. I decided to give this place one more try as sometimes there may a fluke when giving a place a first try. So yesterday, I bought a loaf of wheat bread, one pork floss and scallion bun and a chocolate croissant. Unfortunately, again, many items did not cut it for me. The pork floss and scallion bun was drowning in mayo and just tasted too rich and gunky for me. I am not a big fan of a lot of mayo, so this bun did not work for me. The chocolate croissant was super dry (and slightly burnt) and tasted nothing like a croissant. It was not flaky, buttery or moist and and bun just basically fell apart when you took a bite with flakes everywhere. The only redeeming quality on this purchase was the wheat bread. This was a solid item and tastes similar to the Asian style wheat breads I have had in the past. While this place is convenient and inside 99 Ranch and there is an enticing display of all the pastries and baked goods, I am afraid I am not going to take the bait again. I may get another loaf of bread when needed, but will pass on the pastry items.

Yelp
I like this bakery and it is a go-to place that is convenient and has fresh bread. I personally like the Fujisan bread which is a cross between a pastry and bread. The bread in the cases are fresh and always look really good. I'm also a fan of their drinks because it is not overly sweet but sweet enough and tasty. You can't beat a boba milk tea for $3...and it's good! I wish sometimes that the bread and cakes on the shelves were fresher looking. I'm sure they taste fine but I would like to know how fresh they are. I have tried some of their sliced bread flavors, when they look fresh, and they have all been good - tasty and soft! There's a multigrain and raisin/cranberry bread sliced bread that is so good. Overall, I recommend this place for convenience and for freshness.

Yelp
Q: What did one bored Baker say to the other? A: You knead to have fun. Any time I'm by a bakery (especially an Asian bakery), I gotta pop in and check out the goodies. I had a chance to stop by 99 Ranch Market during the soft opening, before this never-ending madness of customers overtook every inch of this supermarket, and bought some treats to try. I wish the crowds would settle down already because I want to buy more good eats! I picked up a fresh-out-of-the-oven Portuguese egg tart and a hot dog cheddar bun and they were both delicious. The bread part of the bun was so insanely good and it left me wanting more. Pillowy, soft, and oh-so-easy to tear apart. I was impressed. As for the Portuguese egg tart, it was amazing! Flaky crust, custardy, and not too sweet. It was a great tart! Every baked goodie was pre-wrapped and you pick everything up with some supplied tongs. From what I could tell, most of the small baked items are around $2. They're on the left-hand side of 99 Ranch Market when you walk in but you can surely just follow the scent of freshly baked bread! They also sell drinks here.

Yelp
What do u think BF stands for? Must be BEST FREAKIN Bakery & Cafe! If you're looking for buns, they got u covered hun! Their selection is second to none here! I only got the bbq pork bun ($2.50), custard bun ($1.99), & taro bun ($1.99). My favorite by far was the bbq pork bun. The taro bun lacked taro flavor, and the custard bun wasn't as creamy & sensual as I usually like my custard to taste. My one request is for milk pudding bun that's made exactly like 85 degree bakery in Cali. 5 stars to u BF bakery if u make it happen!

Yelp
Nice little bakery I would like to see some fresh bread like sourdough and stuff like that but I got some nice yummy pastries. It's very clean. Service was good. They also have tea.

Yelp
Everything we tried was fresh and yummy! I'll be back for sure. We got the warm taro, cheese and cream filled buns. The cheesecakes and savory breads looked yummy as well.

Yelp
I love the pastries, bread and cakes from this bakery inside Ranch99 in Chandler. Until today... Unfortunately, today when I was reaching for one of the taro buns, there was a fly inside the bread/pastry case. I told the bakery lady that there is a FLY! She looked at me confused, like "So??". She reluctantly checked the case, saw the fly, took the bun out where the fly landed. She slammed the door case, didn't say a word and walked away. She took the only bun where the fly landed. Flies fly and land to other buns. So, please be mindful about the cleanliness and hygiene's protocols when you purchase pastries, cakes, buns from this bakery.

Yelp
Pretty good! I'm a fan of any Asian style bakery and I knew I had to check out BF after shopping at 99 Ranch Market. They have all sorts of breads, buns and cakes for a carb lover's paradise, in addition to drinks. Some tempting flavors I saw were a flaky taro and cream cheese pastry, pandan cupcakes, mango cupcakes, and pork sung+ green onion bread. Everything is pre-wrapped for easier and safer access. Prices for most baked goods seemed to be around $2. The taro puff pastry I had was filled with a lot of delicious taro, and the pastry itself was alright. Only the very outermost layer was flaky while the rest of the dough was more chewy and tender. I also enjoyed the pandan and mango cupcakes I bought. They were sizable, with a pillowy soft texture. It was like eating a fluffy pound cake and I could detect both pandan and mango flavors in the cake.

Yelp
99 Ranch just opened up and so did BF bakery inside of the market! Gorgeous cakes, hot bread coming out throughout the day, and beautiful, expansive selection. They have savory and sweet items as well as drinks. Can't wait to come again (after the crowd dies down haha)!

Yelp
I think this place needs more of a selection. The checkout is pretty confusing. I would like more variety.

Matt P.

Yelp
The pastries are delicious, but the customer service needs help. I went to the register with a tray of pastries and was completely ignored as I watched two lady's working right in front of me like I wasn't there. After about 5 minutes I just left the tray and walked out.

Yelp
I went here for the egg tarts. The Portuguese were my favorite, they were creamier than the Hong Kong style. They were very busy. I recommend going as early as possible. I'll definitely go again.

Sunny S.

Yelp
I've visited this location twice, both time not fully stocked. They have the same breads on multiple trays, to make it look like there's a large selection. I waited so long for a location to open in AZ and definitely not like the ones in California. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
When the bakery is fully stocked, it is amazing! However, ever since the grand opening, when we go there it is never stocked again. Even when going there before noon, they stopped making anymore. The lines are so long and there is no effective management. There is only 1 lady at the counter doing the cashier, putting each pastry into a bag, and doing the drinks. When you look there's like 5 people inside the kitchen!!!! It's like they don't care about the customers. Another time we waited in line and then when we got to the counter, the lady said they are now closed. Why couldn't she tell us before? I'm normally very understanding but the management is really lacking and it is disappointing.

Yelp
This was not my first time trying Chinese Bakery. I was never attractive of their pork buns, and all others simply just not my favorites until I tried BF's! I had egg tarts pork buns cupcakes ham & cream cheese danishes and sausage buns. Wow, it was delicious and ready for another trip to try out different pastries!
