"Owner Michael Raphel is the third generation of a family from Southern India who settled in the Cotswolds almost 50 years ago. It was his grandfather, Appacha, who originally came to work on a farm in Burford. Word soon spread around the county about his authentic home-cooked dishes and not long after he became a private chef in Cheltenham. The restaurant may have recently changed its name from Bhoomi to the more casual sounding Bhoomi Kitchen yet it has retained its sumptuous and eye-catching blue and gold décor. The menu takes most of its inspiration from Southern India with a variety of curries and biryanis. At lunch and early in the evening they offer a range of thalis – the perfect balance of sweet, salt, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy. Northern India features a little too, with BBQ dishes from the tandoor and here the chefs still use Appacha’s original recipes for the rubs and marinades. Delicious food, attentive and polite service, comfortable and pleasant setting. All dishes we had were very flavourful and tasty. Worth the cost. Party of 3 were able to share 2 Set menu (2 small plates, 2 main plates) with 2 sides. Highlight was beef curry, extremely flavourful and well made.

Bravo Bhoomi Kitchen, an outstanding evening at your establishment on Wednesday night. Indian fine dining at its best. This experience was nothing shy of outstanding from the moment we entered by the bartender and the front of house manager, to us leaving. We applaud the way you have taken South Indian cuisine and refine it for fine dining. Unlike many Indian restaurants on the Michelin guide, Bhoomi has mastered the concept of less is more. By simplify the menu choices, it has allowed them to focus on quality dishes that showcase Indian cuisine. The sommelier was knowledgeable and their small but elegant wine list was a true work of art. They have picked wines that really compliments the rich spice dish’s of India. Well done!! We highly recommend this place and we see a star in its future.

The food at Bhoomi Kitchen is of good quality, and I appreciate the attention given to both presentation and flavour. The ambience is very pleasant, creating a comfortable and enjoyable dining atmosphere. However, I did find it quite pricey for the portion sizes. While I understand that quality ingredients and refined preparation can justify higher prices, I feel the portion size should better reflect the cost. At present, the course-style dishes may contribute to the premium pricing, but from a customer’s point of view, it feels a little unbalanced.

The food here was incredible. Highly recommend. The starter and main was outstanding, dessert I’d miss. When I said the Gulab Jamun did not come with pistachio, they brought another with pistachio. The portion size are on the smaller side, I suppose alluding to finer dining. The naan would have been better if made in a clay oven and to be fluffier with more filling. The restaurant it self is beautifully designed, very plush!

Absolutely first class!!! The interior is stylish sophisticated and elegant. We were made to feel very welcome and properly looked after. I was dining with my teenage son and he chose a few small plates , I think one is called chicken sixty nine and chilli chicken for his main , I went for the banquet which is a set menu of a selection of three starters , two mains and a side. Every dish was sublime and both my son and I agreed it was the best Indian food we have had (we have had a lot too 😃) . I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough and we will definitely be heading back there soon . 10/10 !

We had a group booking in the private dining room and it was perfect for what we were looking for. The feast menu was a great option for us to all try lots of different things and the food itself was excellent. The separate vegetarian dishes were brilliant and very refreshing to have a range of options too. The service was also very good - attentive, friendly and discreet.

This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever gone to. This restaurant made my day I am so happy my friend discovered it and recommended it to me. I love love love the food and the service is simply amazing as well. I am so full after the meal yet I want more!!! It’s good for its price.
