"Thirty-three years ago, when Bologna-born Biba Caggiano’s eponymous restaurant Biba opened, it was certainly the only restaurant in Sacramento at which one could experience a reasonable facsimile of a meal in Italy. This is arguably still true today. Biba sadly passed away recently at the age of 82, and the city is still in mourning. She had been too infirm to cook there for years, and the legacy of the restaurant will be carried on by chefs that she trained. On a recent night, the grand piano was still tinkling under the Thiebaud-esque portrait of Biba, the famous lasagna was still silky and comforting, and the sophisticated menu (rabbit, nettle tagliatelle) is still wonderfully Italian. Viva Biba!" - Becky Grunewald

"Biba, a midtown Italian restaurant in Sacramento, opened in 1986 and is credited with invigorating the Sacramento food scene. Known for dishes like lasagne verdi alla bolognese, the restaurant remains a constant source of goodwill and community." - Caleb Pershan

One of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. Biba does an exceptional job of providing an amazing dining experience. The quality of the food is fabulous and the service is thoughtful and attentive. Exactly what you would expect from a Five Star restaurant. Salads, pasta, appetizers, entrees, desserts... you will love it all and will be planning your next visit before you leave. Reservations are highly recommended.

Biba's is where I go when I want to treat family and friends to a wonderful meal. I've never been disappointed. Went again with friends and had wonderful gnocchi with Asiago, beet soup, and a perfectly prepared salmon with Brussel sprouts. Yummy!

We are always on the lookout for authentic and delicious Italian food, so we decided to give Biba a try for our 12th anniversary dinner. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The hostesses and servers are amicable and help create an enjoyable atmosphere. The menu isn’t large but there is a decent variety of dishes to choose from. We ended up getting three different pasta dishes—the stuffed pasta of the day was glorious! The carbonara was decent, rich but a little runny. Unfortunately, the famed lasagna was a disspointment. The bolognese was not reduced enough and lacked depth of flavor. There was supposedly bechamel within the layers, but it was so sparse as to be almost absent. The pasta itself though was perfect. Overall, I’m surprised that this lasagna is listed as one of the must-try dishes in the Sacramento area. We would return for the stuffed pasta of the day and to try the daily gnocchi dish but definitely won’t be raving to our friends about the “renowned” lasagna.

The service was excellent. Clean friendly and quick to be seated. The foods taste was awesome. The plating and decor could use some updating but overall was a great experience. If you get a chance stop at the bar first and chat with June. For an appetizer drinks and two entrees it was only about $150!

If you are looking for a romantic dinner in the capital of state California, BiBa is where you should be. My fiancé and I visited BiBa last night. The restaurant was well-decorated, clean and elegant, with a real Italian server. We started our evening with carpaccio. If you take a look at the picture I took, you will know the beef was super juicy and tender. I have to say it's one of the best carpaccio we have tried. The mixing of flavours was just perfect! We had linguini di mare and shrimp ravioli as our main. They were both exquisite!!! I particularly liked the linguini di mare. What got our attention was not only the shell-less shell food but the unforgettable after taste. Beyond words. You have to try it and let me know. Together with the Pinot noir, Russian river valley, the whole meal was just made to another level. It's ranked as the best restaurant in town on tripadvisor! Well, it deserves the reputation! Bravo Chef BiBa! But don't be surprised, it's actually located right next to a hospital! And from the exterior, it doesn't look like a restaurant. You may want to make a reservation before you go. Could be quite full :)

Overall, absolutely incredible. The food is authentically Italian and homemade. The food is flavorful and beautifully presented. The service is incredible and Biba and her husband walk around to say hello to the guests. It's a very nice experience. The desserts were exquisite!

The food was terrific. The menu is different from the vast majority of Italian restaurants in the area.
