America’s Best Bowl Food: The Bracket | Eater

"One of the chains attempting to nationalize bibimbap-style bowls, it offers customizable Korean rice bowls priced around $8–$11 that deliver the egg-topped, mixed-rice experience many diners love: filling, flavorful, and a good value for the format." - Jaya Saxena

Every time I come to Arlington for business or personal trip, I always come here. They serve really good Korean food! Pictured is their Japchae with chicken and Bibimbap. Try the hot stone version if you want a slightly crispy rice base. I usually order Tteokbokki to share when I come with friends. All of BiBiMix’s dishes have large portion, suitable to share so you can order various dishes and try everything. They have a free, self-serve salad bar which has miso soup, kimchi, pickled/spicy radish or potato, with multiple sauces (gochujang, teriyaki, yam) that complement the dishes well. The servers are super friendly and attentive! Really happy with this place and will keep coming back whenever I’m in the area.

It’s was my first time experiencing this restaurant and it was okay. This rating is based purely on the food. The service and vibe of the restaurant was good. Okay, let’s talk about the food! It was a bit disappointing to my boyfriend and I. The kimchi pancake was not spicy. We expected more from a flavor experience. Stop holding back and let the flavor out. My chicken bowl could of used more vegetables. I wanted more chicken in my bowl but I guess I never asked for that. It was bit of a one note - noodles. No extra sauces were provided when I thought I heard they were added in the bag. Honestly, I won’t go back because it was bit below average for a fast casual spot.

I have been here multiple times. - Bibimbap with bulgogi: good. - Bone-in chicken wings with honey soy: good. - Korean tofu soup: bad. They cannot adjust the spicy level while the spice tastes like the cheapest supermarket level. Also can they have potato and broccoli as appetizers more often?

Google
„Oh. My. God.“ is what my sister said when she had her first bite of the spicy pork. She is from DC and she definitely will be coming back more often. I had the hot platter, also super good. We loved the fact that they have a „salad bar“ for this dining in. Here you can find really tasty miso soup, Kim chee and pickled radish and tea. So worth it. Paid parking directly in front of restaurant.

Google
It was great. My son loved the self service miso & bonchon - 10/10. We had the stone bowl bibimbap and it was a good size portion and delicious - 8/10. Also had the fried meat dumplings and they were 6/10. Anxious to try the kimbap and other items when we come back!!!

UPDATE: I finally had the opportunity to visit this place in person this January and wow...it truly lived up to all of the expectations I had built up after ordering their takeout / delivery a few times more than what was probably financially healthy. Their kimchi jjigae is somehow even better when served piping hot and fresh in the restaurant, and their side dishes are delicious. I came here for my first meal back in D.C. after winter break, and digging into their incredible kimchi and tofu stew after bracing the cold to walk here from Georgetown felt like a warm and delicious hug. Sure, is $16 a little expensive for soondubu jjigae? Yes. But is it absolutely worth every cent, especially if you aren't able to trek all the way to Annandale to access the rest of this area's authentic Korean food? Also yes. -- This place is absolutely incredible! I was really craving some Korean food but didn't have time to metro all the way down to Annandale, so I decided to give this place a shot. It absolutely did not disappoint; all of the food was delicious, plentiful, and affordably priced. I placed my order on UberEats and, when it arrived at my doorstep a mere 20 minutes later, everything was still hot and remarkably well packaged. I'm often worried about ordering soups on UberEats, but BibiMix puts their soup containers into tiny plastic bags to ensure they avoid any spillage (a very small detail, but still one that shows how conscious of customer needs their staff is). I ordered soondubu kimchi jjigae and a roll of avocado kimbap. The soondubu came with white rice, as well as sides of pickled white onions, avocado, and cucumber kimchi, which were the perfect balance against the stew's heaviness and rich flavor. The portions are also fantastic -- I personally split the soondubu across two separate meals, and ate the avocado kimbap for a light lunch a couple of days later. All around, I can't recommend this place enough. I can't wait to revisit this spot in person once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted!

Headed out for lunch during a break while attending this virtual training. The original agenda was to visit a taco truck and call it a day but I BiBiMix on the way and thought to make a stop here. Ordered Korean Spicy Bowl and Wings. The waiting game began and it was quick. While waiting, I saw a friend from the gym so there was a quick hello there but coming back to the experience, food was prepared swiftly. Took the food home and started with the Korean Spicy Bowl. The food was fresh, the chicken was delightful and every bite was refreshing. Yes I used the word refreshing which is commonly used for cold sweet eating items. Now came the wings and boy I loved them. They had this layer of crunch and this crunch was different than any other wings I had. I appreciate this. I would conclude it by saying that this place is a must try. The staff is wonderful, very courteous and there was a moment someone from the staff was calling me out but I did not hear this but when I did, I apologized but the guy behind the counter is very sweet and just smiled. I appreciate small things like that. The food was quick and fresh. I will come here again for sure.

Yelp
The food is definitely substantial enough to fill you up until dinner. You definitely get what you pay for here! This dish comes with fresh veggies and noodles under the meat! The ambiance and service are great too!

Yelp
I recalled enjoyed my meal here! I placed the order to go inside and it probably took 10-15 minutes but it was worth it! (You can order online in advance as well). I got the bulgogi beef over rice which had a really generous portion (as it should be for $18) and came with the beef, rice, and japchae in the bowl. I added a fried egg on top but the egg didn't look freshly made which would be my only complaint. I would definitely go back and try more menu items! Ask for a spicy sauce on top of the bulgogi and it's perfect. I also tried the matcha latte which was interesting because it was extremely creamy, more like a dessert than a typical latte. I'm not sure what it's made with but it was very sweet and creamy! The inside was nice and modern too with some seating area

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick dinner since I was craving bibimbap and it didn't disappoint. The bulgogi was exactly what I wanted and it even came with a side of miso soup which I wasn't expecting. The Korean fried chicken hit the spot too. The server was nice and helped me with the menu since it was my first time here. Good casual spot for when you're craving Korean food.

Yelp
Great little Korean restaurant providing a quick lunch during the work day. The food portion is very generous, with consistent quality and great taste. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming and provided superb customer service.

Yelp
it's the Chipotle for Korean food, good but not exceptional. I would say you would love it. I like it. That's as good as it gets.
google avatar

Rob D.

Yelp
The food was delicious. It was cooked fresh. All the vegetables were crisp. The was a free fixing bar. That had fresh cut green onions which I love. The Turkish guy who greeted me was very nice and asked what I liked and helped me decide in a bowl. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Delicious, affordable food with fantastic service and a super cute restaurant! The DC / Arlington area is sorely lacking in Korean food, and, since Annandale isn't exactly the most metro-accessible place, I've been feeling deprived of the comforting hug of soondubu jjigae, bibimbap, and all the other Korean classics. But now that I've discovered BIBIMIX, that hole in my life has finally been filled! I've ordered their soondubu jjigae on UberEats an almost embarrassing number of times, but not only is the stew itself delicious, but they do an amazing job packaging it -- the soup is placed in a plastic bowl and then in another plastic bag just in case there are any spills during transit. I admit that it's not the most environmentally friendly, but it is the most logical way to transport a hot soup. If you're able to make your way to BIBIMIX to dine in, though, you (1) avoid all the plastic of the takeout packaging, and (2) you get to enjoy the restaurant's super upbeat energy and the wonderful staff. The staff is super friendly, and I love the K-Pop blasting throughout the store. There's also just something extra homey and comforting about getting to enjoy my soondubu jjigae from a traditional stone bowl with all the banchan on the same tray. All in all, I can't recommend BIBIMIX enough, especially if you're a car-less Korean food fiend like me! It's quick, tasty, affordable, and all-around a lovely place for a simple weeknight meal.

Yelp
I like this place. I like to eat fried chickens and bibimbap its kind of overpriced. Eat once in a month is fine. I would recommend.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Ordered the Bibimbap bowl and was not disappointed. Order was done quickly and had lots of flavor and texture. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for good Asian fusion food!
google avatar

Alice J.

Yelp
Tofu seafood stew is excellent and authentic; comes with small Korean dishes. Their bibimbap is also very good (minus the stone bowl of course; not possible for take out). Ordered for self pick up on UberEats. Fast as always, and reliable. Well packaged.
google avatar

Maureen N.

Yelp
My meal was takeout. I got the tteokbokki and it left everything to be desired. It tasted watered down and was not spicy at all. Don't even bother getting it if you are looking for an original Korean taste.
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
You can definitely get a quick and convenient Korean food fix from BIBIMIX! It's not what I would consider the most authentic Korean food but it definitely hits the spot when you have street food cravings. The kimbap was yummy and the chicken was a surprising win! Some of the wings were more pink than I was comfortable with but the skin was crispy and flavorful. The kimchi pancake was a bit thick but it was chewy and spicy. Overall, I wish they had a few more authentic options since I think they would sell significantly more food.
google avatar

Lily B.

Yelp
granted this is a Latina commenting on Korean food but the bibimbap I had delivered via DoorDash was legit! I've never had delivery from here before. But for my taste buds this was delicious and fresh. And I am one happy camper right the second. I will also order from here again because this dinner was so satisfying. After I try more dishes I may adjust the rating but for right the second I was happy with the time it took to get here, the temperature was when it arrived, the taste and the quality of ingredients. yum! update: within a week I had the bibimbap delivered 2 more nights. dang! I went for the extra fried egg these 2 times, and once with avocado (yes, Latina here). Very Yum!!

Yelp
We were craving some standard Korean dishes but needed to order ahead for an early-ish dinner. All the restaurants we've tried before were not open between meal hours and those that were open served fast casual fare like rice bowls. Luckily, we found BIBIMIX on Grubhub. It offers an extensive menu of both traditional and fusion dishes. We were able to place an advance order and the food was delivered on time and well-packaged. The Kimchi Sundubu hit the spot with the perfect level of spiciness and comfort. The Traditional Bibimbap and Japchae were okay but could have used some more spice. The Bulgogi Tteokbokki was the sleeper hit - chewy cylindrical rice cakes with beef and vegetables bathed in a homey, savory sauce. Everyone fought over it. On my next order I plan to try the tempting looking specialty bowls as well as the impressive list of beverages!
google avatar

Esther S.

Yelp
Not bad, great in a pinch when you are craving Korean food, but not great or outstanding. Had the katsu kimbap and bulgogi kimbap. I really liked the katsu kimbap, it had good texture and the sauce went well with it. The bulgogi kimbap was a little lacking in meat but also decent. Got the bulgogi bibimbap and it wasn't great. Good variety of vegetables in there but it didn't taste fresh. The sauce was good.

Yelp
BIBIMIX is a fast casual Korean spot with cute decor and K-pop music videos playing on the TV screens and through the speakers. It's very hip and trendy. Traditional Bibimbab Bowl with Chicken (4/5) - I don't think the flavor profile has as much depth as the bibimbap from a more authentic restaurant like you would find in Annandale, but it wasn't bad for a fast casual spot. The order itself also came with soup and 3 sides which was pretty awesome. Bang for your buck! Bulgogi Kimbap (4/5) - These were huge, but I wish there was more meat vs rice. The flavor was okay, I don't think the veggies were pickled as well as other places. Kimchi Pancake (5/5) - I really liked this, the crust was crispy and the dippy sauce was perfect with it. There seemed to be a new server working and she was easily confused or tripped up while we were ordering. She was a bit confused with how to input our orders on her iPad and almost charged us for double proteins (even though none of us ordered double protein). Luckily, a man who I assume is the manager came over to correct it. It looked like she was still learning the system, and wasn't a big deal. Overall, we had a fun experience at BIBIMIX and may come back if we were in the area and craving Korean food.

Yelp
Never been here in person but the bulgogi kimbap is delish!! The pickled radish served with the dish is also excellent. Service as far as delivery goes is usually third-party so I can't really fault the establishment itself for that. Will have to check it out in person sometime!

Kimmi Y.

Yelp
My stable go to Korean food. I normally get it via Uber. The food is consistently good. It's made fast and by the time I receive it, still hot! Dukkbokki is my favorite. I only wish they would increase the portion size a bit!!
google avatar

BreAna M.

Yelp
Nice portion sizes for the price! We ate inside to get the full experience, but it's quite small inside and I felt the tables were oddly arranged. Would go back, but probably only for takeout next time
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
I have ordered delivery from this place through Uber Eats at least 30-40 times now and have never been disappointed. Portions have always been fair, flavor consistent and packaging done well so that food was always well presented and warm. Good Korean delivery food is hard to come by in this area... for some reason. Despite there being so many Koreans living around, other Korean restaurants either charge a ridiculous upcharge for delivery (on top of their already ridiculous prices for Korean food) or just don't delivery past a tiny range. Bibimix has always been a go-to staple in the area for me when it comes to comfort Korean food. I love this place. Their 떡볶이 is always consistently good.
google avatar

Ellen H.

Yelp
10000/10 best meat dumplings I've ever had, never had Bulgogi Kimbap before, sooooo good :)
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
I ordered from this place via UberEats. This place is a solid find (I'm sad there are no Bibibops in my area but this will do!) and leaves me satisfied every time. They have good packaging and keep the sauces on the side. I keep ordering only the Chinese Flame Bowl, just because there is so much flavor and texture in there. I always mix up the meat. I'll add either spicy chicken or shrimp. The shrimp can be a miss sometimes, like a tad bit overdone. Overall, all the food in the bowl are really fresh. My boyfriend once got shrimp fried rice with an over easy egg, but it was definitely cooked all the way so he couldn't enjoy the yolk with his fried rice. We enjoyed this and would get it as takeout/delivery once in a while to switch things up!
google avatar

Marcus H.

Yelp
Yes to this place. Friendly staff, delicious food and KTV on display for your viewing pleasure. A must try if you're in the area. I recommend the Kimchi Fried Rice and tteokbokki (fish cakes). The menu is accessed via QR code and they restaurant plays K-pop in the background. I'm a bit biased here because I've been looking for a spot that serves tteokbokki to give it a try since it's the talk of all the recent K-Dramas(lol) I've watched and it's as good as advertised.
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
We ordered delivery from Bibimix and it was amazing! Came shockingly fast and was warm and fresh. We ordered the Chinese Flame and the Japchae bowl which were both ~$11. They were both delicious. The Chinese Flame comes with beef which is so tender and flavorful, and the Japchae comes with chicken which is juicy and tasty. Very generous portions, especially of the protein! Lots of veggies in both. We felt like it was a healthy yet filling meal. You can also pick 2 sauces per dish and we got one of each of the 4 options but didn't end up using any since the bowls were flavorful enough on their own. Would definitely recommend you give Bibimix a try if you are craving some delicious Korean fast food. We plan on trying their Kimbap soon!
google avatar

Anita D.

Yelp
Went in on a Tuesday afternoon and got the entire place to myself. Ordering was super easy and the food came out hot, fast and delicious. It's always really hard to find cheese tteokbokki in the dmv but dear gracious am i glad i found them! I usually like mine a little spicier, but I'm sure if i had asked the employees would have accommodated me. Also grabbed a side of kimchi. That was super good as well.
google avatar

Nao P.

Yelp
it was my first time trying bibimix. I ordered a matcha iced latte, and Tteokbokki for the first time, the matcha ice tea latte was Absolutely delicious! The flavor was outstanding! and the Tteokbokki was spicy and very chewy and soft! even the staff are so sweet and kind! but I will definitely come to bibimix again! It's amazing 5 stars for you! keep up the good work!

Matthew S.

Yelp
Fantastic. Whenever I travel, I look for Korean barbecue and bibimbap. This place did not disappoint. The beef was delicious all of the side vegetables. They were very accommodating when I asked for less carbs and more vegetables. Plus they offer a hot plate version. Your food continues to cook as you eat it. Yum. Makes the rice a little crunchy. I really dug it.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
This is like the subway of Korean food. Choose what you want from the menu, and then left them know what you want on it (the vegetables & kimchi are all ok display for you to choose). I got the bowl with tofu as the protein and japchae as the base. I made it so good with kimchi, spinach, spicy radish, etc... I loved choosing whatever I wanted on top of it. I also got bulgogi kim bap (that was so good, except for the fish skin that was also in it) & vegetable mandu. I spent around $35 for all this food and one milkis (drink). The employees were so sweet & patient- they definitely didn't rush me or my friends at all, and we definitely didn't know what we were buying. I definitely want to come back again soon!!
google avatar

Andy Y.

Yelp
No issues with finding a table for 4 for Sunday dinner! Seems most of their traffic comes from take-out orders. Paid Parking was right outside along Wilson Street which can be busy during certain times. As the the meal, we had the Spicy Korean and Bulgolgi bibimbap. Both came plentiful with fresh vegetables, selected protein, and an egg. We didn't get it sizzling, which was an additional $3. Once the right amount of golchujang (spicy and sweet red chili paste) is added to the dish, it was delicious! We also ordered the appetizer boneless chicken (honey garlic) was fried to perfection. We will definitely be back and would recommend a try. Enjoy!
google avatar

Marcy M.

Yelp
The hostess was very sweet. My food though was not as expected. Needed more seasoning.

Ju L.

Yelp
Pros: Prompt service. Quick preparation of meals. Tasty chicken wings. Modern ambiance. Cons: Pricey for mediocre Korean dishes, kimchi, and soups.
google avatar

Zhou W.

Yelp
This place is the bomb. Not only are you finding really great Korean food for a great price, but it's so close in the arlington area that I no longer have to drive out to Annandale! It's so good we ordered twice in a week - once for takeout and once for dining. Both experiences were great! my boyfriend ordered the pork katsu bowl which came with white rice, cabbage dressed with their sauce, and the pork katsu came in a separate box to keep it crispy and also came dressed! It was sooo good. I opted for a to go bibimbap, which had all the traditional toppings and a fried egg, which was delicious with their gojuchang. It was a really great healthy meal to get all your veggies in without sacrificing flavor and traditional korean food! It was so good we decided to dine in the friday of that week, and it was even better! We both ordered the veggie bibimbap (yes it's that good ok) in the traditional dol sot (the hot stone pot that makes the rice crispy, it's worth the extra money!), and it came with lots of banchan like onions, kimchi, and cucumbers! We were so stuffed and it only set us back around $15. We both got a slice of cake from the icebox out in front, and I thought they were ok, and at $3.50 a slice I wouldn't mind it. Just keep in mind you might have to thaw it out a bit! Would definitely come back here for take out AND dine in, I'm waiting to try their japchae and fried chicken!
google avatar

Yelp
Very fresh food. It was my first time trying kimchi fried rice and I really enjoyed it. Kimchi is so addictive! I would definitely order from here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Who doesn't love a tasty meal from BibiMix. Just like they say, they offer meals of excellent quality ! 10/10 we would recommend For more food pics, follow us on ig: @BrwndButter

Yelp
Unfortunately, this Bibimix location's food quality has gone downhill since opening. The fried dumplings have the texture of empanadas, the kimchi fried rice resembles nothing of the sort, and the bulgogi has the taste and texture of off-brand Steak-Umm. Some things -- the tteokbokki comes to mind -- are still serviceable, but I have no idea what happened to the rest of the menu.
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Bibimix when I order via Uber Eats has its good and bad days. The spicy ttukbokki is not good, lacked enough sauce and the portion amount was small for the price. I grew up in Korea, and it wasn't nothing close to being authentic imo. With the cutlet (both pork and chicken), I've had hit or miss when I've ordered these items. First time was amazing. Second time around, the chicken wasn't fully cooked and another time the rice was hard, not fresh at all. With this being said, I'd give the place 3.5 stars.
google avatar

Iris P.

Yelp
I got the raw salmon build your own bowl and the salmon was so fresh and paired really well with the gochujang. it was essentially poke but the price wasn't as high as they would normally be for poke with raw salmon. highly recommend!
google avatar

Allen Q.

Yelp
BiBiMix was good! I wanted to love it since it is literally minutes away from where I live, and it mostly met my expectations! I ordered takeout and had the Korean spicy bowl, as well as the seafood pancake. Their website had an order option, but it seemed to charge a 10% fee so I just called my order in. They were able to get it ready in 15 minutes. The Korean spicy bowl was good, but I was a bit disappointed about the state of my egg: most of the pictures here show it over easy with a nice liquidy yolk, but mine was anything but. You can see in my picture the yolk was popped and basically solidifed into another layer of the egg. The rest of the bowl was good - the chicken was very flavorful and I enjoyed all the different elements. They tasted fantastic together. The seafood pancake was good, but felt a little bit lacking in seafood. Overall will probably be back!

Elly C.

Yelp
We popped into bibimix to grab a quick bite and I got the Bulgogi Bibimbap. This was served over rice and it was delicious. I loved all of the toppings and the yum yum sauce and Terryaki were great. I do wish a bit more bulgogi came on it for the price but good overall.

Yelp
Solid place and great food! Stumbled on this place while running short on time during the lunch hour. Starving and needing something quick, I decided to dive in on this place and it did not disappoint! THE JIST BIBIMIX serves different varieties of the popular Korean dish called "Bibimbap"...which means mixed rice dish. Similar to the Chipotle "have it your way fashion" you start off with selecting a base like white rice, noodles, mixed lettuce in a bowl or tortilla wraps. Then you add from a large variety of fresh toppings, vegetables and proteins including grilled chicken, steak, shrimp or tofu. Additional items bean sprouts, black beans, sauteed potatoes, cucumber, shaved carrots, cheese, eggs, and corn as well. If you don't feel like playing chef or feel inspired to have to create your own magical dish, BIBIMIX offers several "well-balanced" bowls on their menu to easily choose from. It's probably the better, safer bet until you get a sense of what works for your own flavor palette and spice level.....besides I would hate for you to try creating something that cost you $10 bucks and it's unedible ...or you don't like it. lol On the entire menu....The Chinese Flame Bowl...Hands-down!!....:Is one of the most delicious bibimap bowls I've ever had. Grill Beef (++Spicy Shrimp add-on...Xxtra cost but is a must!) w/ kale, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, scallions and rice-noodles! OMG!...Thumbs Up!! Try it!....And, Thank me later!! * Note: Your bowl stacks up quick to a pile of healthy goodness.....Easily enough to share. I actually could not eat it all in one siting. And, if that is not enough, you can also select between a variety of good sauces including spicy sriracha, Korean red sauce, teriyaki, and "yum yum" sauce. THE VERDICT Totally like the whole vibe and concept of this place! It's fast, healthy...and packed with FLAVAH!! BIBIMIX easily gets 5 Stars from me! The healthy, fast-casual food scene is totally my thing. A time saverfor sure when looking to order healthy eats, that normally would take some time to prepare or a long wait to get at similar "sit-in" Korean restaurants. This location outdid themselves during my last visit, on both the customer service and the food. I enjoyed the entire experience and the eats was delicious!! Definitely will back!

Lisa G.

Yelp
Ordered take out from UberEats. Was in a appetizer mood so only got sides. The corn nuggets were tasty though felt heavy. The fried chicken wings were delicious, great texture and flavor. I wasn't a fan of the fried vegetable dumplings as they had little flavor and were very thick/heavy. Would try again but probably order new stuff.
google avatar

Saya Y.

Yelp
Yesss I love this place. Came here post workout and wasn't sure if I wanted a salad bowl or katsu or cake so got all of the above. I definitely recommend the bowl, the katsu and cake not so much. They were so generous with the vegetable selection that I basically had enough fresh veggies for 2.5 meals. Shrimp and tofu were well seasoned (maybe a tad too much), and there's tons of sauces to choose from. A great place to go if you're looking for a hefty and healthy meal.

Kaitlin G.

Yelp
I am surprised I haven't written a review for Bibimix yet, because we eat takeout from here probably the most! It is my boyfriend's favorite place to grab a quick bite. Him and I love to get the large popcorn chicken and split it, it is plenty for the two of us and we usually have a little bit of leftovers. We love to get the honey soy garlic sauce... mmm delicious! The chicken is white meat and the fried outside is light and crispy! The only reason this is a 4-star revjew is because of consistency. A couple times we have ordered the chicken was perfectly fried, juicy white meat chicken on the inside and crispy on the outside. On occasion you might get slightly smaller popcorn chicken and it is not as juicy, a little dry. The last time we ordered it was a little dry. We usually get an order of french fries, which are seasoned nicely and served with what I believe might be yum yum sauce. We also get an order of fried meat dumplings which are super yummy! Overall pretty satisfied, just wish the consistency of the chicken was better, because when the chicken is cooked to perfection it is SO good!!! We will continue to order from here, because we really like Bibimix.

Yelp
We were in the area and looking for a kids friendly restaurant and came across this establishment on Yelp. We wanted a donkatsu. What could go wrong right? Everything went wrong. We ordered a donkatsu, soondubu jjigae and fried chicken. Dontkatsu came out burnt and full of old oil smell. It's worse than my homemade donkatsu. Rice is so hard and inedible. Kimchi is very salty. Again who messes up simple ban Chan? Soondubu didn't come out for 30 mins. We wanted to cancel but Michelle who was on register duty that time said she cannot offer refunds because her manager isn't there. Fried chicken was ok but if not because of sauce, it would be below standard. We realized there are a lot of bibimbap to go orders so May be this shop is only famous for bibimbap (which is hard to mess up as long as you have gochujang). I don't recommend this store since they messed up all the Asian staple items. Go there if you want a quick convenient meal. I felt like we were in europe because do you know how bad Asian food tastes there?

Yelp
Finally had a chance to get some take-out at this Court House Korean chicken joint. I ordered a large Popcorn Chicken, a very solid fried chicken but not double fried like the iconic chicken you could find down the street at Bonchon. Not wanting to roll the dice on heat or spice, I had this dish prepared with the honey soy garlic sauce, which was sweet and sticky for sure but I would have liked it a bit more balanced on the soy and garlic side. I was pretty hungry but the large portion paired with white rice more than satisfied. Besides the fried chicken, there's also a wide variety of appetizers and bowls as well, something I look forward to trying on future visits.

Yelp
My gift and curse is that I come from a family of talented cooks. The curse being I can be extremely critical of food, especially Korean food. I lived many years in Korea, which were spent eating at Michelin restaurants, countryside mom and pop venues, and of course, street food. Taking into consideration that Bibimix is a fast food chain, I was pleasantly surprised. The portions are large and filling. While lacking in flavor, the soups are filled with meats, veggies, and tofu. The banchan are crispy and fresh. The kimchi pancake; unfortunately, is thick and doughy. I was hoping for a thinner, crispier pancake especially since I noticed a lot of fried options on their menu. It is a good spot for fast Korean food and it is closer than trekking to Annadale.

Yelp
