21 Best Bars in Sydney | Condé Nast Traveler

"At Bibo Wine Bar, the beautifully curated wine list, overseen by one of Sydney’s best sommeliers, Louella Mathews (formerly of Rockpool Bar & Grill), focuses on the under-appreciated wines of Portugal (head chef Jose Silva is Portuguese). There's a list of cellared wines, which you can try by the glass (starting at about $50 a pop), but you could just as easily spend the night sampling the terrific selection of reasonably priced glasses, all while digging into the knockout Mediterranean fare." - Kris Fordham, Laura Dannen Redman

Seriously, one of the best wine bars / restaurants in Sydney. Love it here. 5 stars all round. Food is amazing and choices of European wines are plentiful to match the fine fare. Staff are super friendly and always welcome my son and I back with a smile, like we are old friends Thanks Jonathan, Jose and team.

Exquisite food specially for those who have a savoury palate. Service was exceptional as I came here for an anniversary. They provided complimentary fish pate and served dessert that said happy anniversary. Will definitely be back for their cheese and wine next time.

Bibo Wine Bar in Double Bay offers a fantastic vibe with warm, attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, featuring some great local and international drops. Perfectly paired snacks round out the experience, making it a great spot for a relaxed yet refined evening. Highly recommend for wine lovers!

Google
Definitely a 5 star experience. Food was amazing. Staff were great. The small size of the restaurant and bar gives it an intimate feel. We were there early at 6:15pm and the vibe continued to build as the evening progressed. The octopus was perfectly cooked and absolutely melted away. Sorry the only dish that I didn't take a photo :(

Did the $125 set menu for a big group. Overall poor quality food. Beef brisket was tough and not very flavoursome, and dessert a cookie and half a dry Portuguese tart seems to be cost of living cut back to the extreme. Staff were friendly and attentive.

This place is a magical spot in Double Bay. We dined in a group setting, the set menu was perfect. Highly recommend. The ambience inside is warm and inviting. Perfect for a date spot too. Must try the duck.

What a great wine bar. This not a normal wine bar the food is great and wine also. Was a great experience and look forward coming next year. People also very nice and that the bar/restaurant is not very big also gives it a nice atmosphere. They also think out of the box with orange serbian wine very nice. Best regards, Emile

Yelp
The only other Portugese restaurant I have eaten at is Nandos (and who knows how true to form that is?) so it was with great excitement that I had my first sophisticated Portugese feast at new guy Bibo. Its dim lit and a bit sexy inside. Date night venue fo' sho'. Service is doting, smart and with a European accent. The menu revolves around share plates, some smaller and some larger. If you havent tried Portugese food- I would put it somewhere between Spanish and Italian with fragrant hints of the Middle East. Start off with the smoked mackerel pâté- this is one of those dishes that will linger in your memory. Is it too early to call this Bibo's signature dish? Follow with the killer beef tartare- morsels of tender raw beef in a light creamy sauce set off with savory raddish shavings, salty capers and the zing of pickled cucumber pieces. Dark potato crisps nestle around the tartare for you to make a little DIY canapé. Brilliant. Also go for the cured fish board, the crispy Brussel sprouts in buttermilk sauce and save room for dessert. The Portugese tarts are pure sorcery. Wash it all down with the Shiraz offered by the glass - smacking good.

Yelp
Bobo wine bar is in Bay Street down a small ally to the front door. What a find great decor, large wine selection and great food to share we had peri peri chicken not hot at all but delicious and port belly so good. Fair price 100 dollars per head with wine and desert. Aaaah Portugese tarts for desert to die for. Definitely a place to return to with its warm decor

Yelp
Food was good. The service and the atmosphere is great. The best thing to do is order a few things and share it will give you a better all around experience here.

Yelp
What an amazing find in Double Bay! Portuguese fare but mixed with amazing blend of wine and ambience. Close quarter dining with an amazing center bar, small side tables, and open air avenue seating. Staff is very attentive and globally knowledgeable on food and wine. Only problem is not open on mondays when I'm normal in the area!
