The Best Bars and Pubs in Ottawa and Gatineau | Eater Montreal

"This east-side craft brewery is firmly in the ale game, with all manner of pale ales, but especially IPAs (including the “blackberry raspberry milkshake IPA”). The hops-averse are well-catered to with some lighter, fruitier options, too. Have them in the cozy taproom, or find them at a bunch of bars around the city." - Tim Forster

This isn't a very big brewery so if you plan on sitting and drinking you may want to get there early. Don't say I didn't warn you. There's also not a ton of patio space outside either, just two picnic tables. Even though there isn't much space, the beer there is great. I went with the standard flight and would recommend Frequency which is a hazy pale ale, it's quite delicious. They do have a style for all tastes. No kitchen on offer, just snacks. It's in a strip mall in an industrial area so it could be easy to miss from the road, but there is plenty of free parking. Or as the name states, you could bike there.

Google
The best under-the-radar brewery in Ottawa. We came here on a Tuesday afternoon for a shopping pit-stop, and we were not disappointed. We were the only people there. The woman working there was very helpful, cheerful, and smiley. She made us feel very welcome. The two IPAs we had were crisp, and the soft pretzel was a nice snack.

Visited on February 28, 2024, in early afternoon. Located in Riverview's industrial park, south west of downtown Ottawa, just a short distance west of St. Laurent BLVD. Nice beer list, all are available to go and about half are on tap and what I had (4 tasters) was nice. The only food available are chips. The only person working in the tap room was very nice, gave me water without asking (especially with tasters), was very informative. I was there on a weekday just past 1 (opening hour), so it was quiet with a few for buy to go. There is a mobility ramp for wheelchair/walker users. Very decent, I would go back!

Google
Velociraptor is their signature beer, and let me tell you it’s one hell of a nice IPA. They have a great selection of beers and options to meet your tastes. They have a decent snack menu too, I was happily impressed with the quality of my beer!

Tucked out of the way (like most craft breweries are), Bicycle is a great, rustic little spot. Knowledgeable staff help select a tasty flight of their unique beers. Great place to stop for a craft beer tour.

Google
Bicycle Craft Brewery is definitely one of the best in this growing field. Their IPA is truly exceptional. I've tried all or at least most of the local craft breweries, and Bicycle is my choice for the long weekend...and beyond!

Yelp
Beer is delicious and cold. Staff are super friendly. Pet and dog friendly. Plenty of parking and they let you bring outside food in (they also serve a few snacks for pretty good prices). Lots of beers on tap and prices are very reasonable. I think you pay about 50 cents per ounce of beer...flight of 4 was $10 for 20oz or $2.5 per 5oz glass. My favourite by far is their stout!

Yelp
Neat microbrewery in an industrial part of town. They have 12 different beers with 8 on tap (the rest in cans). It's mostly a brewery so they only have some light snacks like nuts, soft baked pretzels, and beef jerky, don't expect to get a meal here. However, they allow you to bring in your own food. There are quite a number of tables. They also have some picnic benches out front. They sell branded merchandise as well (glasses, shirts, etc.). As per their name, their decor is bicycle themed. I'm not a beer lover, but I did enjoy their Margarita Gose, which was light and a bit salty and tasted not that beery, if you know what I mean, lol. Free parking at the front of the brewery.

Yelp
I like this brewery. It has a super chill vibe, and the staff are super welcoming. On Sundays, they welcome dogs inside their establishment as well, which is awesome, and I wish more establishments would do this. I tried a couple of beers on tap (Yelp event), some Jamaican spiced nuts and a soft pretzel with spicy mustard. There's a good amount of tables inside the brewery, as well some picnic tables out front. Friendly staff. Great place to stop in for some beers and snacks.

Yelp
Our favorite micro brewery in Ottawa, Bicycle has a constantly changing assortment of beer along with some great staples. Decor is simple and warehousey. Staff are knowledgeable. Bicycle holds events 4 or 5 times a year which are worth checking out. Consider following on FB and instagram to get events and info on new beers coming up. Would I return? I think I might be classed as a regular. Would I recommend? Yes

Yelp
This is a small little Brewery again in industrial complex area. It's not very large and it has very high ceiling so it gets Extremely Loud in a short amount of time. Our 3 dogs were allowed inside, for her it was so loud it was freaking out our oldest dog so we had to go sit outside on the two picnic tables out front. Good beer and a few Munchies available for order, otherwise bring your own food.

Yelp
Loved it here. The thing that sticks out the most here is the friendly service. The owners are very happy to talk to you and more than willing to tell you about themselves and their product. My favorite there was the On the Lamb IPA. Just a very good IPA, though not as hoppy as others I've tried. But it really worked. It's strange to say this, but I kind of like the merchandise you can buy here. From cute taster glasses to grumbler carrier for your bike. Of the places I visited for craft beer the merchandise they sold was the best. I'd definitely recommend a stop by for any out of town beer-o-philes out there. Loved it!

Yelp
Great brewery run by hard working owners who are clearly passionate about what they do. I've followed Bicycle Craft since their opening and they are making leaps and bounds progress. The most recent display of their success is that some of their beer is being sold in local LCBOs. Before that, I started noticing that more and more restaurants were carrying their brews... clearly a good sign! I love the friendly service and the fact that staff are knowledgeable about the products. They're also happy to pour you a sample. I find they are trying something new fairly often (such as seasonal drinks) which is a nice treat. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
This is a cute little micro brewery that's new in the city. Their growlers are really well priced and the beer is tasty. My husband, who loves IPAs thought theirs was really tasty. You can get a flight sampler, a regular glass or a growler. They don't sell bottles.

Yelp
I've tried every microbrewy in the Ottawa valley, Bicycle is #1 on my list. Awesome beer! Love the IPA, and they are always cranking out rotating seasonals, each one a hit. Prices are the best also.
