"Located in the heart of the city – albeit somewhat tucked away – this appealing bistro is a lively place with really good food. AndrÉ Rickert (known from the "Weinsinn") forms the dual leadership in the kitchen together withJanina Allgaier. Theirculinary style is pleasingly down to earth yet sophisticated in terms of craftsmanship. Vegetarians are also well catered for. The service comes courtesy of a laid-back yet highly competent front-of-house-team who provide astute wine recommendations for the set menu. Tip: book early to avoid disappointment!" - Michelin Inspector

Very nice Bistro/Restaurant with excellent food and very attentive service. There are two ever changing menus which you can choose from - with animals and veggie. Up to 7 courses are available. Super quality and fantastic looks. Good wine menu. It’s very nice to see the work in the kitchen while eating. Very professional very calm and yet busy because the restaurant was fully booked. Be aware that it could be quite noisy. We sat between two quite extroverted tables of four which did not allow for any romantic whispering 🙂 Having said that it was a brilliant evening and a great dining experience.

This place was amazing. It’s small and intimate. There atmosphere was lovely. The host and waiters were all very pleasant and helpful. We did the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Every dish was different and delicious in its own unique way. The wines were almost exclusively from either Germany or Switzerland.

Greatness strangled by the limitations of the small kitchen We had high hopes. Seated at 7:35 PM, our 7-course menu with wine pairings started strong—the amuse bouche and drinks came out quickly. But things slowed drastically. By 9 PM, we had only reached the third course. Dinner didn’t end until 10:30. It felt like we were being held hostage by the pacing. The restaurant is tiny (about 600 sq ft), with 14 tables, 3 wait staff, and 3 chefs working in a kitchen smaller than most home kitchens. The executive chef didn’t start cooking until 8:30 PM. Our pacing seemed intentionally slowed to sync with later tables. One table next to us was seated at 7 PM and had to wait over an hour just to align with others. Dishes were repetitive—same sauces, same pickled elements, reused vegetables. My wife’s vegetarian course was just a mix of leftover garnish components. Honestly, the wine pairings were the only standout. For the price, Bidlabu should reduce the table count and focus on service flow and a more thoughtful menu. There’s talent here—but it’s being smothered by logistical limitations.

Got a cancelled seat during the same week, so worthwile joining waiting list Service, food and wine all excellent. But wine + food pairing was superior, better than all other 1* places I have eaten. Eat five courses and was really full, even Michelin star places have big portions in germany Paid around 300 for two - consider to be a bargain

Super! All dishes were exceptionally presented but more importantly, balanced yummy and packed with flavors. A true gem! Staff was lovely and on point. Will be back next time in Frankfurt. Not to be missed.

Google
I had high expectations for Bidlabu after seeing so many glowing recommendations on Reddit—and of course, because of their Michelin star. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. We opted for the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing. While the wine pairing was genuinely excellent and elevated the overall experience, the food itself fell short. Most of the dishes (with the exception of the dessert) felt one-note, with surprisingly similar flavor profiles throughout the meal. The only dish that stood out to me was the egg yolk mushroom course, which was creative and flavorful. Service was another weak point—it was incredibly slow. It took us over three hours to get through the meal, and by the end, I was just ready to leave. All in all, the wine pairing saved the evening, but given the buildup, I expected much more from both the kitchen and the service.

Google
My first visit to this Michelin one-star restaurant in Frankfurt. We opted for the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing. It was a Monday evening, and the restaurant was completely packed—which already hinted at the quality of the food to come. We had a 7:30 PM reservation, but we didn’t expect dinner to stretch for three hours. While our server was friendly and pleasant, the pacing of the meal was far too slow. After two hours, we had only been served three dishes and had yet to receive our main course. It became clear the kitchen was trying to synchronize our service with other tables who arrived 30 minutes later—unfair to those of us who were seated earlier. I eventually had to speak to the waiter to request a quicker pace. Unfortunately, this delay significantly affected our overall experience. Despite the service issues, the food itself was excellent and deserving of high praise: • The meal began with a vibrant tomato saffron dish with octopus—refreshing and beautifully balanced. • The watermelon with cheese and avocado tasted surprisingly light and healthy, with a tangy note that reminded me of apple cider. • The wine pairing complemented each course well, especially the watermelon dish. • The catch of the day, likely snapper, served with marinated cabbage, dashi, and fregola sarda, was well-cooked and flavorful. • The highlight for me was the Joselito pork—a premium cut served with horseradish, beans, and apple. It was incredibly tender and absolutely delicious. As for desserts, the first course—featuring cheese—was underwhelming, with an aged flavor that didn’t quite work. However, the second dessert completely redeemed it: a medley of flavors that I couldn’t stop eating. The setting is entirely outdoor, and while charming, it can get quite warm during the summer. There was no fan or air circulation, and we were told that air conditioning isn’t possible due to the building’s age. If you’re sensitive to heat, this could be uncomfortable. In summary: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars) • Food: 4/5 – Excellent flavors and creativity • Service & Pacing: 2/5 – Far too slow and not fairly managed • Ambience: Depends on weather tolerance—no cooling system in summer Despite the long wait, I truly enjoyed the pork dish and several other highlights. However, the overall experience was held back by timing and comfort issues.

Google
What an incredible place for an unforgettable fine dining experience! Every dish in our 4 course meal was presented so beautifully and tasted absolutely amazing. The wine was also top-notch and paired perfectly with each course. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making sure we had a wonderful time throughout. Would totally recommend this place!

Yelp
On a hidden street in central Frankfurt, bidlabu is a cute restaurant, great service and delicious gourmet menu. The grilled goat cheese is delicious and the risotto/mushroom was so light with the mint mousse around. Had an appetizer and a digestif on the house, the owner and the boys/waiters were lovely nice. A must try.

Yelp
This place is incredible. A MUST visit. It's very reasonably priced for a Michelin stared restaurant. You MUST get the white tomato soup if it's being offered. It was the best soup I've had ever. The service is great, and the wine pairings are perfect.

Yelp
Although Frankfurt may not possess any of Germany's Michelin 3* Restaurants the plethora of talent trained in Baiersbronn has gifted the city with a bevy of talent, and tucked away on Kleine Bockenheimer Strasse an emerging name is that of Chef André Rickert who owns and operates Bidlabu along with Sommelier Dietmar Fritz. Still something of a hidden gem, a sign amongst the masses on Grosse Bockenheimer Stasse leading guests down a small alley to bohemian environs surrounding a small kitchen, it is with reservations highly encouraged that guests arriving Monday through Saturday will find Chef Rickert cooking three or four course menus offered Prix Fixe. Charging just 48 to 55€, Vegetarians ten less for Cuisine equally thoughtful, it was opting for al fresco seats protected by an extendable canopy that two guests sat down Monday night, a lack of dietary restrictions confirmed prior to presenting cold Watercress Soup enlivened by Bacon and Parmesan. Casual yet competent, adjectives equally applicable to Bidlabu's service and Cuisine, it is with steady pace that plates emerge from the kitchen at intervals suited to each table's comfort, course one offering gently cooked Mackerel and puffed Rice plus an unexpected bit of heat. Tempting guests with good Bread, ideal for sopping up the Saffron and Shellfish Sauce served over top Pasta filled with Herbs, course three offered a choice from which one selected Deer and the other Sea Bass, both Proteins well-sourced and properly prepared though the Fish was slightly better thanks to Beurre Noisette and tender Mushrooms while Venison got a little lost in the sweetness of its Sauce. Completing the night with Dessert, Ice Cream made with Herbs no longer the novelty it once was, André nonetheless managed to sell Sorrel thanks to soft White Chocolate and three textures of Strawberry including Mousse perfumed by Flowers.

Yelp
Amazing food! The service was great too. There wasn't an English menu but the server took the time to walk me through it. Very highly recommend!

Yelp
I think we may have accidentally stumbled across the best restaurant in Frankfurt. We didn't realize it was a tasting menu until we sat down. They were able to make accommodations for me as a vegan at the last minute. The food was so impressive, service was great and the ambiance was wonderful. We will be back for sure

Yelp
This was just amazing. A wonderfully composed four course dinner. Pastrami and sauerkraut wasn't the most authentic hessian version. It was much tastier. The gazpacho was interesting and refreshing (although I am not really a gazpacho fan). Loup de mer, aka Mediterranean Seabass, is still in my dreams. I passed my dessert to a friend. Perfect relaxed service, nice back-alley ambiance. I used to live around the corner during my student days. Either such good restaurants didn't exist or never entered my radar. It's is time to catch up. Bidlabu is my new favorite in Frankfurt

Yelp
We were walking around the shopping district of the city and looking for a place to get dinner. After walking around a bit and not really liking the choices on offer I found this place on Yelp and we decided to check it out. It's located away from the main shopping area in a small back street and it's well away from all the cafes and things you see. The decor is chic, trendy and understated. The menu is simple and had a small selection of dishes including a 3 or 4 course menu. They have one or two daily specials as well. The place is small with seating for about 20-30 people with some outdoor seating for warm days. The service is very friendly and quick. The kitchen is open concept with glass all around it and it was fun watching the chef organize the meals. I had the three course menu and absolutely loved it. Subtle flavours with clean and great combinations. I loved the rabbit leg and liver, a dish cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The meat was super tender and moist. The salmon tartar was also very delicate and beautifully flavoured. The dessert was nice but the rhubarb did not go with the dark chocolate melt. It's one of those desserts I loved and hated at the same time. I would come here in a heartbeat. It's good unpretentious food with delicate flavours. A great place to spend an evening :-)

Yelp
Excellent dishes! I got green pea soup and fish of the day for lunch. They come with fresh bread. Delicious and delightful! The presentation is a piece of art. Very enjoyable. I also had their home made lemonade. It is blended with fresh mint leaves. Very fresh on a warm day. Staff are super friendly. I felt welcomed.

Yelp
This is a great little cozy restaurant with great staff and patrons. The food is excellent as well. One interesting thing is the semi open kitchen where the front glass panel is of such high quality and cleanliness that you can barely see it(only from the barely there edge). We had for starters a German cheese appetizer with some relish, apple slices, and cheese that I cannot write. Sorry I don't know any German other than danke. But it was delicious! Then I had a soup. Pour over style. Creamy with salmon bits. Also very tasty. Shared some mushroom salad that was fresh and easy to eat. Not very special here. I have figured out that mushrooms in Germany are very tasty and tender. Main dish was a beef tail. Nicely cooked. Only some pieces were a bit dry but overall very rich and tasty with cream sauce flavoring, along with I think daikon fries. I think overall this is an excellent place with reasonably priced wine offerings. If you are visiting or local alike you must try this place!

Yelp
This is probably the best food I had in Frankfurt, nice price for nice food, own their characteristics, also good service, comfortable environment, the best choice for knowing the Frankfurt dishes! Customers from every kind of age and every country.

Yelp
A VERY enjoyable dinner. A little hard to find as it is in a little back street in a luxury shopping area - well worth a bit of circling the block to find it. Quite friendly staff (might've been the owner or mgr) welcomed me & seated me outside. Menu include a set 3 or 4 course offering, so I took the 4 course which included a pastrami appetizer, white asparagus soup, German flat iron steak & dessert. Everything was very, very, very good - and very filling. I ended up leaving quite a bit of the tasty (and giant!) asparagus which came w/ the main as I was stuffed. When the server noticed, he asked if I would like to wait a bit for the dessert & after we spoke a bit he offered to bring me a "small" creme brûlée instead which I gladly accepted (but could still only finish less than half). I highly recommend visiting. Quiet area, friendly staff, personal service, and great food.

Yelp
Everything was great! Luckily, we were able to get a table without a reservation. The staff was very nice and took the time to give in-depth explanations to my mom. I had the regular menu with the wine pairing and it was just perfect. I look forward to going back and trying other menu options. Also, the restaurant is in a nice location, off the main walking area and near great shopping and public transportation.

Yelp
I have been to Frankfurt many times on business and eaten at many good retaurants but I have to say that Bidlabu was definitely the best place I have been to. The menu is in German but the helpful server made sure I knew what the specialities and main dishes were. I started off with a special Frankfurt cheese appetizer served with apples. Very different but delicious. For the main course I had a beef fillet which was cooked perfectly. Finally the dessert was an asparagus and strawberry concoction which sounds funny but was awesome to taste. The only thing that was not 5 star was probably the wine which was a not so special Merlot. Highly recommended if you are in Frankfurt.

Yelp
Thanks to Yelp reviews, we headed for bidlabu and hoped also for some live music in Frankfurt on a Saturday night. The restaurant is a departure from "German cuisine". Each menu item was a unique and delightful combination of flavors, colors and textures. We started with an uniquely flavored gin and tonic drink as well as a good red wine by the glass. After a tasty cold basil soup gift from the kitchen, I enjoyed the baked goat cheese, presented with an array of tasty salad items and olives. Being a New Yorker, we were required to taste the Pastrami, which delivered a strong authentic flavor but was paired with more vegetable and a herbed mayo sauce accompaniment. The fish of the day sat atop a bowl of baked new potatoes with a light sauce, pretty AND yummy. The beef filet was delivered with quinoa and deep meaty sauce. Situated in what feels like an alley, it was an escape from the bustle of big cities but sat a few doors down from live Jazz. A delightful find - thanks all you Yelpers! oh and the great kitchen and staff at Bidlabu!!!!!! PS: The menu had a full selection of vegetarian dishes.

Yelp
I hosted a work dinner for a very opinionated international group of 20 and I received a an applause on the way out the door for selecting such an amazing restaurant. Delicious food, fantastic wine selection, comfortably chic ambiance, freshly cut flowers, attentive and polite staff...it doesn't get better than this. Pure bliss!

Yelp
I've been to Bidlabu so many times (for diner, for drinks, for lunch or just for coffee) and I loved it every time. The food is always delicious, there are not too many choices but everything is created with great attention to details. The goat cheese, the home made pastrami and the risottos are must tries. The wine selection is also very good and the cocktails are perfection. Another big plus for this small bistro is the amazing Hopplo coffee. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
What a gem of a place. I was traveling for work so dining alone. They made feel very comfortable. I had a half portion of soup so I could have room to try more food. The crustaceans soup was delicious; briny like the ocean. The pastrami is excellent, served with a slaw that is lightly soured. Perfect complement. I enjoyed my main dish which was a fish. They recommended a glass of dry Riesling that went great with everything. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ambiance intimate but not overwhelming. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went in for supper tonight after reading reviews on Yelp and I was not disappointed. The day menu was homemade pastrami, Pumpkins soup, seafood plate and homemade chocolate fudge and yogurt as desert. Everything was excellent and the guys running the restaurant were on top of things and took care of our family. No reason this should not be 5 stars. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Definitely a nice break from schnitzel! A group of 6 made a reservation about a week in advance of the Saturday that we visited. You have options to do a tasting menu or order a la carte. I chose the vegetarian tasting because it included the goat cheese appetizer. It was delicious!!! I had a mushroom main course, also amazing. My fiance had the four course menu that included shrimp, a seafood soup, a monk fish main dish and both our dinners ended with a creme brulee. The creme brulee was chocolate and was really good and was unlike any other creme brulee I have ever had. Our friends went the a la carte route and had the goat cheese appetizer, the pastrami appetizer, they loved both. Their main dishes were the veal and then the risotto. They really really enjoyed their food as well. Overall a great experience. Pricey but worth it!!! very modern dishes!!!

Yelp
Really great cafe with almost gastronomic food. Excellent service. Reasonable prices. I'll certainly return when back in Frankfurt.

Yelp
This cosy, elegant, little gem ... well ... all the better that it is tucked away between the Fressgass and Goethe-Straße. So, just between you and me: if you have gotten this far in the search for somewhere to spend a stellar evening it would be a mistake to move on. As my fellow reviewers have said, the service is great, food divine and the setting perfectly comfortable. Seemingly unlimited bread basket refills from 5 or 6 different types complimented the olives drenched in olive oil that we had ordered first. The chef surprised us with a cute little treat of halibut with samphire in raspberry sauce. We were sad it was such a small portion. Everyone seems to be racing about the goat cheese appetizer, and rightly so; there was lots of sighing. The veal, reportedly, was excellent. I myself had the leg of lamb, which pretty much floored me as it had usual flavors as well as being perfectly prepared. After we paid (no credit cards taken) we were sent off with a juicy shot of something; I'm terrible at identifying spirits. Starters, main dish and a bottle of water for two people came to €70. As far as logistics, we showed up just after opening at 6pm without a reservation on a Monday and they accommodated us; only three other tables were taken while we were there. We said at the start the way had rather little time and asked if the starters would take to long to prepare (no). The waitress updated us about the progress of the main dish and we felt well looked after, not at all nervous about missing our show later on. Oh, and even the bathroom does not break immersion: my guest felt like she stepped onto the set of a Punchdrunk production in London. An audiobook is playing on the speakers there; definitely memorable.

Yelp
Very hard to find and if you have an early reservation you will be politely told that you must leave before the crowd arrives at 8pm. No big deal. My prawn appetizer was excellent but my monkfish was a bit overdone and not really needing saucing. The 5.5

Yelp
Excellent food in a very intimate, inviting space. The marinated goat cheese, veal, handkas are wonderful.

Yelp
Visited Bidlabu for the first time on a recent trip to Frankfurt and it did not disappoint. In short, the service was excellent, every single bite was decadent, and we will not hesitate to return on our next trip. There was a relatively small menu and our waiter Stephan took the time to translate all of the options into English for us. We started with a goat cheese appetizer that was TO DIE FOR. Next came a complimentary cucumber soup from the kitchen that was also amazing. For the main course, I had a cod dish while my companion tried the filet, and the dishes were both incredibly delicious. We will absolutely return here!

Yelp
I have lived in Frankfurt for 2 years but unfortunately I discovered this place only the day before I leaved. It is definitively the best place I have eaten in in Frankfurt. Even before beginning to eat you can feel that the place will be good : the menu is short, you can see the cooks from the room and the service is nice and fast. And this first impression is quickly confirmed. Food is creative and tasty, vegetables are well cooked, and this remains reasonably priced (main dishes btw. 14 and 24 euros for dinner). Most importantly, you can see that there is passion in the food, you are not eating the standard dishes that you see everywhere nowadays but creative meals that demonstrate a reflection and ideas from the cooks. The food mixes respect of the traditions and fresh and seasonal ingredients. In particular, the effort to renew German cuisine is particularly interesting (and they manage to make Handkäse delicious). Everything cannot be perfect and there are things that could be improved in some meals (the desserts are also slightly below the main dishes, but this is quite usual in restaurants), but this is almost inevitable when you take risks and there is much more pleasure in the plate than in most restaurants. Overall this is a really moving experience. This restaurant does not really compete with the other restaurants I have seen in Frankfurt, nor with the one of comparable price in Germany, but rather with restaurants at this price range at the European level.

Armen S.

Yelp
This was a wonderful restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Our server was very kind. I would absolutely recommend coming here!

Yelp
All food was great, delicious!!! I think the best I have had in Frankfurt so far. Also, people was very nice too and it is located in a great area.

Yelp
Small restaurant with cozy atmosphere. Nice selection of wines. Small menu that appears to change frequently. All items we ordered were excellent and good portion size. Entree prices were ~13-20 Euro.

Jorgo G.

Yelp
Great restaurant in a somewhat hidden spot downtown Frankfurt. Spectacular food, cosy and stylish atmosphere. Nice seating outside in summer. Better make reservation though. AND: they do NOT accept credit cards.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal dishes and great service. Would highly recommend. Brought friends from Chicago that agreed this is one of the best restaurants they've been to!
