I had dinner at Bidou and overall it was a very good experience with solid French cooking and a cozy atmosphere. The warm black olive brioche starter was crispy and delicious with the butter, a great start to the meal. The Pâté en Croûte was my first time trying this classic cold French dish, and while it tasted good and was nicely made, I would probably try something different next time. The chef’s special duck was tender, but the sauce felt a bit overpowering for my taste, though I wouldn’t say the dish was bad. The best part of the night was definitely the Loup de Mer en Croûte which the buttery pastry smelled incredible the moment it arrived, and the fish, scallop mousse, and choron sauce worked perfectly together. Dessert was a simple slice of chocolate cake with plum ice cream, not too heavy and a nice finish. The service was friendly, though it would be even better if the staff explained the dishes more clearly. The environment was great, the food tasted really good, and I felt the price was worth it. I definitely plan to come back and try more dishes next time.

Brilliant French cuisine with clever use of bold flavours and ingredients like beef tongue served on potato earphone (loved this). But my favourite was the bouillabaisse that had a punchy briney broth and perfectly cooked seafood. Creamy mussels and scallops, tender salt cos, and a hunk of grouper with crispy skin and delicious flaky meat. Would go back just for this dish. Overall, everything was great from start to finish. Really good bang for your buck.

The magic starts long before you arrive at Bidou. We called half an hour before arriving and the person who attended to us (Remou- sorry if I've spelt this wrong!) was warm and welcoming. The space and ambience is the first thing you notice. The space is so tastefully done, the colours, the decor and the eye for detail in the little things like the wine glasses and plates, is amazing. The service is immaculate, clearly the team love and take pride in what they do. Then there is the food, the portions were generous, the food was so satisfying and delicious, it's like being transported to France for one night. I am truly blown away by Bidou, hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to this year. Truly not to be missed.

Owned by a Michelin-starred chef, food served is French-inspired with usage of local flavors and ingredients. Enjoyed the food quality and presentation coupled with the excellent service. A place to return to. Perhaps a downside is that the restaurant is above the ground floor and access for some might be challenging.

The food at Bidou is impeccable. I have visited twice and would go again. The standard of the food is up there and worth the price. It's classic French at its best set in a charming and quirky space. The beef tongue is delicately presented and delicious. Tenderloin is remarkably flavourful (coming from someone who would usually pick a ribeye or flank over tenderloin) and perfectly paired with an anchovy-based sauce that is brightened up with a bit of acidity. Service is warm and attentive, with a personable touch. While there was a minor mishap early on, recovery was excellent so the overall experience was stellar. It's a gem of an addition to the neighbourhood.

Had an amazing dinner at Bidou last Friday to celebrate a birthday with the family, and surprisingly, everyone was happy with the food, which doesn’t happen often! We couldn’t name all the dishes since it’s French, but we definitely remember how each one tasted and the ingredients used. Before the starters, they served us bread, and wow, it was delicious. Crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and paired with butter, it was such a simple but perfect start. For starters, we had the tomato tart, olive tart, and green salad with foie gras. The foie gras portion was really generous and taste interesting. The olive tart was also nice, but the one that really stood out was the tomato tart. It was super refreshing and totally woke up our appetites for the next courses. Next, we tried the paulet de chou and pate en croute. It was our first time having pate en croute, really interesting and traditional, and we enjoyed the new experience. As for the paulet de chou, it was so rich and savory, and the sauce was so good that we cleaned the plate. For the mains, we had the hunter’s chicken, seafood stew, and fish pastry. All three were impressive, but the hunter’s chicken really blew us away! The seafood stew was full of umami, packed with fresh ingredients, the oyster in it was especially fresh. The fish pastry had such a cute presentation, and the pastry was crisp on the outside but juicy inside. You could even see the fish soup inside when we cut into it. So tender and flavorful! But again, that hunter’s chicken was unforgettable. It may not look fancy on the plate, but the taste is incredible. The sauce was rich and just right, I still remember how it tasted. If I could, I’d totally order a second serving. For dessert, everything was perfect. The orange ice cream tasted just like biting into a real orange, super fresh. Make sure to eat it with the little cake on the side for a nice balance. The chocolate cake reminded us of an opera cake, and you can really taste the quality of the chocolate and nuts they used. Overall, we had such a great dining experience. It was really special to enjoy traditional French cuisine and actually understand and connect with the story behind each dish. Thank you for the wonderful meal, we can’t wait to come back and try the next menu!

Finally it’s here! Bidou is the second restaurant from Chef Darren Teoh from the 2-star Dewakan, paying homage to classical French cuisine. The artistry and cooking techniques are stellar, with sauces that were heavy on flavor but light on the tongue. But it’s the reinterpretation of classical French dishes that really impressed. Far from being a reproduction of Bocuse, everything was reimagined in the best possible way - like the dreamy meringue of the îles flottante paired with blood orange sorbet, the celeriac potato pave with the steak or the bursting dumplings in the consommé. If you go, don’t miss the fish en croute, beef tongue with potato and olive or the chou farci - one can rarely get these around town. The menu is either a 3 or 4 course set at the moment. The 10yr old finished 3 courses while the adults were comfortable with the 4 course. The bill was around RM400 per person but for a special night out, it was well worth it. Parking is easy as the area is quiet at night. They’re still in the early days of opening so I imagine that things can only get better.
