The Best Restaurants To BYOB In Chicago

"Bienmesabe is a casual BYOB Venezuelan restaurant in Ravenswood specializing in arepas. The value move here is to order arepas as your entree—we prefer the After Party (roasted pork, gouda cheese, and avocado slices). The pabellon (shredded flank steak over sweet plantains and rice) is also a standout, and the Bienmesabe Sampler is a heavy but tasty appetizer to share. Head to this spot if you’re already in the area with a bottle of wine and a gluten-free friend." - josh barnett, adrian kane, john ringor

I ordered 6 different empanadas. I'm not sure if I've eaten them before, so I wanted to try a variety. They were all delicious! The dough was a little sweet and crispy on the outside. The service was very quick. In the to go box they added a note of which empanadas were in that box. The price is great. I will definitely eat here again.

It is a simple place with very delicious food. I had been there before to taste the Venezuelan tamales (Hayacas), I wasn't a fan. This time, the owner recommended I tried the petacon, which is like a sandwich with plantain instead of bread. It was delicious. The pork was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The arepa tumba rancho was also an excellent choice with the chicken. The tequeño and empanada we started with, were very tasty. The food takes a long time to get prepared, but that is because he makes the food as it is ordered. It was worth the wait. We will definitely come back.

Honestly I think some people must have been looking for something else and not Real Good Food!! Guessing they were looking for bland, tasteless and ordinary food that was really spicy hot. If that is what you are looking for then Bien Me Sabe Bistró is not for you. There you will find food so delicious, full of flavor that The combination of spices is perfectly balance to give you the opportunity to savor and have you guessing what is making this bite so delicious. In Bien Me Sabe their "masa"(dough) in their empanadas and pastelitos is made very likely with "Harina Pan" which is the Corn Meal use in Venezuela. Please don't try to compare it to "Maseca" use in many Central American countries as well as in Mexico. Very different in flavor and texture. to that you add that they give their own special touch with I am guessing sugar or honey and that is the slight sweet taste that in my opinion sets them apart and make them crispy. I got to be honest, I have many Venezuelan friends and I'm guessing they are not very skilled in the culinary arts, and I took my wife there on her request, as she follows "Marian" a Venezuelan Lady who lives in Jordania, and publish many Venezuelan dishes as well as Arabic cuisine. But because of my previous experience with my friends was looking for an unpleasant flavored food. Man I was happily disappointed. The Carne Esmechada (Shredded Beef) is amazing! Their Carne Asada full of flavor and very balance, the pernil (pulled pork) to die for 4!! I have not tried the chicken but my wife and daughters loved it. I even tried pork chops on their Picada, or Parrillada and they are delicious as well. The chorizo is good but I'm guessing is bought already from a supplier. My wife and daughter in Law love their shrimp as well. All this you can have them in Patacones ( fried, Smashed and then fried again green plantains), arepas made of corn meal, and many other varieties that they offered. If you like the Hamburger "Mexican Style" then you have to try their "Teque Burguer" but I'm warning you, this is not for the faint of heart. It has the Burguer patty, ham, cheese and a fried egg (they have it as chicken sandwich as well) plus the regular fixings. Now here is the kick, the buns are made of Venezuelan bread filled with fresh cheese 😱. That is called Tequeño and they have them in there appetizer menu. this are delicious by themselves, now you added too your Burguer with those and is a burger with a league of it's own. Go there and experience "Comida Venezolana " Now remember is not "Mexican Food" so if you are looking just to burnout your pallets then this is not your a place for you. They do have a spicy sauce that add some kick but it's actually flavorful as well. There is One Million places in El Paso, TX you can go and experience average or below average food. If you want really good and delicious food go to Bien Me Sabe Bistró or you can order here in Door dash. P.S. Food it might take a little longer than in other places because it is made fresh when you ordered it. Is not food that has been sitting on a warmer and simply put together on a plate and out it goes. I am sure it will still delicious on delivery but come on, sitting at the restaurant is part of the experience to be eating out. So if you ordered delivery is your fault that you think that this is a fast food. Chill out order with time and enjoy this delicious cuisine. I have gastro Bypass surgery but I still go out, order a whole lot, take a bite or two of each plate and then take it home and enjoy it again later. If you enjoy their food do as I do, asked them for empanadas, tequeños (both cheese, and the cheese and guava ones🤤🤤 delicious. And fried them at home. And when you visit tell them to treat you as nice as they treat me!! Hey I know they treat everyone the same, 😂, but in the society that we live today that everyone one want to feel special let me join the trend 😂

Food is a little on the pricey side but everything is so good and made fresh! I recommend the carne asada arepa and the empanadas. All the food was ready fast to pick up for takeout.

Yelp
Today was my first day at Bien Me Sabe Bistro. Every time I visit a Venezuelan restaurant in the US for the first time, I always ask for Papelón con Limón, a Reina Pepiada Arepa, and tequeños (cheese sticks). Wow!!! The Reina Pepiada was simply put: the BEST ONE EVER!!! What a combination of flavors! You can taste every single ingredient as well as the overall flavor! The tequeños were also amazing!!! The cheese had the right amount of salt and the texture was just perfect! There are so many more items on their menu that I'll certainly be back ... many times. Congrats to both chefs! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Yelp
A hidden gem in west El Paso! If you like to try new flavors you need to visit Bien Me Sabe. The empanadas are delicious, I tried the empanada pabellón which had shredded beef, sweet plantain, cheese, and black beans. It was soooo good! The arepas were delicious as well!

Yelp
I had a great food adventure this morning when I decided to check out a new Venezuelan restaurant near the Airbnb where I'm staying in Uptown, next to UTEP. The last time I had Venezuelan food in El Paso was at Casabe, but I found it a bit greasy and lacking in seasoning. So, I was really excited to give this new place a try! I arrived at around 10:00.am and waited since they were a little late in opening up. When I walked in, I was greeted by a cute little spot with plenty of seating. The only thing is, they didn't have physical menus. Instead, they had a QR code you could scan to see the menu. But beware, the download can take a while, so you might want to check out the menu I uploaded on Google Maps/Yelp. As I walked in, I realized that the lady who welcomed me only spoke Spanish. I tried using my translator app on my phone, but then a gentleman came in who spoke a bit more English. Phew! With his help, I was able to place my order. I asked him for the most popular dish, and he said everything was good. In the end, I decided to go for the PICADA (for 2), which came with chicken, steak, cheese, chorizo, 4 small arepas, tostones, and yucca. I also ordered 4 tequenos (fried breaded cheese sticks), 3 HUGE TequeYoyos (slices of ripe bananas, cheese, and smoked ham wrapped in flour and fried), and 2 empanadas (1 meat and 1 cheese). I was particularly curious about the TequeYoyos because I loved Venezuelan food when I was in LA. However, they were invented after I left, so I hadn't had a chance to try them yet. I wondered how the combination of sweet and salty flavors wrapped in cheese and fried dough would taste. Let me tell you, it was amazing! It's like the ultimate snack or Hot Pocket. I could honestly eat it every day. It's so delicious, but I have to admit, it's definitely a calorie bomb. However, it hits that sweet and salty spot so well, with different textures. The slight stickiness and gumminess of the banana, the chewiness of the cheese, the salty smokiness of the ham, and the crunchy, doughy cover--it's heaven! Not only were the TequeYoyos fantastic, but the meat was perfectly cooked, and the chorizo and chicken were tasty too. The chicken wasn't dry at all. I actually bought some for my in-laws, who had never tried Venezuelan food before, and they were pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed it. I had a feeling they would like it because it shares many similarities with Puerto Rican cuisine. It has a very Caribbean vibe with the tostones, yucca, and a flavor profile that's creamy, herbaceous, and not too spicy. I'm really excited to go back and try more items from their menu. The best part is that even though most of the items are fried, nothing tasted greasy or oily. Venezuelan food has a unique touch of sweetness, especially in their empanadas, which adds a lot of flavor and makes it even more enjoyable to eat. I also want to try their soups and lunch specials, but they start serving those at 11:45 a.m. This place is definitely a hidden gem in El Paso, and I highly recommend you give it a try as soon as possible. The food is really good, and the people working there are extremely nice. You can find them at Bien Me Sabe Bistro, 5360 N Mesa St, El Paso, TX 79912. Bon appétit! -TODOELPASO

Yelp
This is so pleasantly delicious. We had the Picada with steak, chicken and sausage. Nicely portioned and included fried Yucca, Tostones, Arepas, cheese and avocado slices. The salsa tártara was an explosion of flavors that complemented the food. Would definitely recommend and visit again. The staff was so nice and attentive.

Yelp
A new sort of food in El Paso is always welcome! My wife and I were talking about the lack of Venezuelan food and boom! Bien me sabe pops up! The food is delicious and the owner is extremely nice. The food does take some time to make but that's the case when you get a getting freshly made food. When sitting down you have Latin music playing which makes the time go by. Thank you Bien Me Sabes for opening up and we hope that other people in the community are able to share in this culturally different food.
