Although everything we had was relatively tasty, we were not impressed. The menu was limited to 3 first courses and 3 main, including 1 veggie option (so for us, really 2 choices of first and 2 choices of main). Usually I don’t have a problem with limited menu as this is a sign of freshness, but the menu tonight was overly simplistic. We were served a plate of mussels as a first dish. Nothing extraordinary, really. Then our main was a basic Entrecote. While the meat was tasty, the sides were again overly basic and in far too small portions. Fries were the most basic ones you could possibly find (frozen), and served in a ridiculously tiny portion. This is type of fries you can get for < 2€/kg at any store in Belgium. I skipped desert to stop with the disappointment. I will admit the appetizer we took (a tataki as a shared dish, was the only positive point of our dinner - there i found something original, tasty and with somewhat of a culinary twist).
My advice to this restaurant is to up their cuisine a bit. What we had tonight is no different than what we can get in any popular Brasserie in Belgium. I do not see a justification for the micro-portions, and felt I should’ve picked mussels and an entrecôte elsewhere and would have been much better off and for less than 150€ for two (excl. wine). I am (very) used to fine dining in Belgium, and found this restaurant to rate pretty low in my referential.
We picked a Rioja from the wine menu which was fine. See my Vivino rating where i gave it a 4/5. The Cremant I took as an aperitif was also interesting and I rated it 4/5 on Vivino as well.
