Our server was Esteban. He is warm and friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The food was AMAZING - The chef's special was "surf and turf" tacos: Ribeye steak with crab and aioli - it was THE BEST tacos I've ever had!!! I'm shocked I actually got a picture before they all disappeared. Pescado tacos and guacamole were also delicious. We topped it off with guava sorbet for desert. Super refreshing! I hope they keep the surf and turf on the menu FOREVER. I can't rave enough about it. This place is 5 stars!!!

My family and I have been going to Bien Trucha for years! Service and food are always amazing. Leo and Alex were the staff members who take care of us this time and they both were awesome! Worth it every time!

The food was tiny, but filling and yummy 😋. Lemonade is to die for. Prices aren't too bad, but maybe not if you're on a budget. The atmosphere was plain, but cozy. And I think every day there is a new, unique guacamole flavor. When I went, it was grape flavored but I didn't try it. Tables are very small, so be aware of that.

This place is AMAZING! Food was out of this world. EVERYTHING we ate was outstanding. Vibes were immaculate, and drinks were a hit. Maddie was our server and took such good care of us. We always have an amazing experience at Bien Trucha. It’s one of our favorite restaurants. Our server, Alex, was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly and attentive. The drinks are incredible! The flavor of the day guacamole and the elotes are some of the best we’ve ever had. Alex’s great service made the whole night even better. Highly recommend!

Leo is the best!! We always hope he is our server. This is in my top 3 favorite spots to eat at. The food is amazing. The Bien Trucha tacos are a exceptional. Everything on the menu is very good, the drinks are pretty fire too. The service is 10/10, the staff is very nice and welcoming.

The gold standard for tacos in the tri city area. The bien trucha tacos are incredible. The service is top tier and the ambience is really nice especially eating outdoors. Their cocktails as well are some of the most incentive I've experienced in the area.

Oh my goodness, we've been to this spot a few times, and it's always a delightful experience! The shrimp tacos? Hands down, the best I've ever tasted! I can't recommend them enough. The shrimp is perfectly crunchy, paired with a scrumptious sauce, and the beets on top add such a fun and unique twist. We loved them so much that we ordered more after finishing our first three half-orders of tacos! The plates are on the smaller side, which I actually love because it lets you mix and match with half or full-sized orders to explore all the different flavors. We've also tried a variety of dips and drinks here, and every single thing has been nothing short of amazing. The staff is super attentive, and our dishes always come out lightning fast. A must-visit spot for sure!

Great taco spot for Geneva! They have such a cute patio. We started with the tilapia ceviche. It was my first time have ceviche with tilapia. They paired it with a mango salsa. It was okay- the texture was throwing me off. I ate the whole thing but, I wouldn't order it again. All the tacos were great, my favorite were the fish tacos. It had a ton of flavor. I would definitely come back. I would love to try their breakfast menu.

Weird little space--was it once a residence? A hot dog stand? No one knows, but the tacos are impeccable and they have an avocado margarita (ahuacatl) which is hard to find. This is the same restaurant group as A Toda Madre in Glen Ellyn. Our one beef: stop the 3% hidden fee nonsense. In the state of Illinois restaurants can use that extra money for whatever they want.

We received a gift card for this little gem and was not disappointed. We ordered drinks, a margarita and Pacifica beer. We started with the trio salsa appetizer, no longer on the menu. The salsas were fresh and spicy. We each ordered taco, the Bein Trucha and Carnitas, The carne asada were so good and covered with roasted serrano salsa. The pork shoulder was tender and so well done. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside on a hot, humid night and the indoor is intimate with cushioned benches. The service was excellent. Our waiter offered suggestions. A delicious Mexican restaurant in Geneva.

I dined several times at this restaurant since its opening. From the very beginning, it earned its reputation for the very creative Mexican cuisine. During and after the Covid, I noticed a decline in the quality and quantity of the dishes. However during my recent visit, I found this restaurant is better than ever. All 4 cocktails that we tried were delicious. Octopus salad had a very interesting sauce and was mouthwatering, fish ceviche was delicious, tuna tostada was really tasty and tacos with pork and beef were delightful. I found the prices reasonable for the quality and the quantity of the food served. Service was excellent. Ambiance on the outside patio was lively. Gals they came back better I highly recommend!

Absolutely wonderful restaurant in St. Charles! We had such a phenomenal evening here, it is elegant yet fun, quick food yet delicious! We started out getting the three dips (I forgot the menu name) but it consisted of traditional guac, guac del Dia, and elote dip. All of them were delicious, my favorite being the elote dip! Then I got the bien truecha tacos (steak + chorizo) and the Al pastor. My mom got the carnitas, and all of the tacos we had were delicious! The one thing I would've hoped for is if we heard the specials of the day, because they had some really interesting specials that we probably would've tried. However, the tacos themselves were amazing. We also got an elote side dish that was THE BEST I've ever had! We ended the night with flan, and it was a memorable evening!

Hands down some of the best tacos I've had in my life. The service is great, very attentive and generous & it is a very cute and place with an intimate vibe. It's a little on the pricier side but in my opinion, worth every penny.

The place is really cute and has a very cute decor/aesthetic, although I wish their tacos were bigger. We got 3 orders of tacos (6 tacos total) between the 2 of us. The standout items I would recommend are the cecina tacos and the esquite, based on what we tried. Lovely place to get lunch in Geneva.

If you're looking for a wonderful new place to hangout. This is your place! The atmosphere is festive and fun! Everyone is unbelievably sweet and kind. The service is fast and efficient! It feels like one big family! The food is incredible and high end without the crazy price tag.I will be coming back and sharing this incredible gem with my friends and family! HOUSE BEAN DIP AND CHIPS- Super flavorful, a little spicy, and unbelievably good! The chips are crisp and salty, the beans are silky with a little texture, the cheese is salty and it ties it all together. I will get this every time we come in! PAPAS - The papas were crispy potatoes with a roasted poblano aioli! Omg, I didn't know that I needed these in my life until I tasted them. They were crispy, crunchy, salty, smokey, and Zesty! I will get these every time that I come in. They are incredible! I'm counting down the days until I get these again. S I K I L P A K- toasted pumpkin seeds, serrano pepper, cilantro + chips Good flavor but, too thick for my liking. A little grainy. A G U A C H I L E D E R E S- This brilliant combination of hanger steak, avocado, red onion, cilantro, cucumber, crispy scallions, crispy garlic, in salsa negra is one of the best things that I've ever tasted. I've never had anything like this before! It was creamy, crispy, savory, spicy. smokey, and zesty all at once! The art of laying flavors was spot on. The hanger steak was a perfect medium rare with a crispy outside. I couldn't believe how incredible this dish was. I will be getting this again! CALABAZA- Loved the combo of grilled squash, charred panela cheese, pinto beans, and tomato-arbol salsa. The tortillas tasted fresh and soft. Everything tasted super flavorful and I savored every last bite! F L A U T A S D E P O L L O - These crispy rolled tortillas with shredded chicken, potato hash, crema, queso fresco, and morita-serrano salsa are such a delicious treat! They were light and crispy and filled with incredible shredded chicken. I'd say to get the créma on the side because, they're very generous. But, other than that! They were perfect!

Nice patio. Fish tacos were decent (could have had more flavor in the fish batter). Strawberry margarita was good. Elote dip was good; although the crumbled cheese on top was salty. Server was straight to the point and could have been warmer. Overall nice first visit.

What a great place to eat! Perhaps the best place, overall, in Geneva. It isn't that it's great "Mexican" food. It is that is really great food. Period. I have been here many times and it is always good. The servers on top of things and then feel on the inside is cozy. I will return and return.

Tried this spot for the first time and really enjoyed it! Our group attempted to get an array of different tacos offered and each was as good as the last! The elote style side dish was also fantastic. The service was okay. They had forgotten an entree, but got it out right away. The only note I would provide is the portions of some of the apps and sides were on the small side for the price.

Went last night for the first time as a last minute decision. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures because I was hungry, but I will be editing this review when I go back! Small place, but instantly gave me homey, genuine vibes. All the waiters were so friendly, as was ours, I forget his name (I'm pretty bad at names) but he was able to answer all our questions we had had very attentive service. I am vegetarian so they do have tacos de aguacate which were amazing. The tortillas were unlike anything I've had and I could eat the tortillas by themselves! Also got their sangria, I will admit was not strong at all, I ended up getting 2 and didn't feel anything. However the flavor was refreshing. Knocking a star for being weak alcoholic wise but when I go back maybe their other drinks are stronger. Hope to be back soon for the nice weather and patio seating.

Stopped by Bien Trucha in Downtown Geneva to catch up with my girlfriends. We happened to go for Social Hour which offered half off their Traditional Margarita ($6.50 with discount). We started with the trio which included their traditional guac, elote dip, and seasonal guac (honeydew guacamole this time of year). The guacamole itself is so creamy and delicious with a couple of larger chunks of avocado so you know it's homemade! My personal favorite was the elote dip; it was sweet and creamy. Bien Trucha is tapas style so our group got majority agucante tacos to share (tempura fried avocado, pico, pineapple, chipotle aioli). This is my favorite taco in the area! The flavors are so good especially for being a vegetarian option. The only reason for a star reduction is the restaurant is small and we were sat in an area that was a primary circulation path so I did get bummed into a couple times. Overall the food is great but the restaurant is meant for intimate dining.

Still a fan!! Every single time we order out we're never disappointed. The food arrives fresh, warm and packed neatly to avoid spills! Favorite tacos are pastor and fish plus the tres leches cake for dessert!

We were so excited to get reservations on Cinco de Mayo!! We were able to get half priced margaritas during their Happy Hour! So delish, what a deal to get in the mood to celebrate!! The highlight was the queso fundido camaron appetizer (cheese, shrimp & red onion) absolutely delish. Make sure to use their homemade cilantro serrano sauce. We had the Bien Trucha & Pastor tacos. Yum! Prefer the cilantro serrano sauce on steak tacos instead of the roasted tomatillo serrano. That was the waitresses favorite also, they were accommodating to leave off the sauce. We had a wonderful time, but pricey for only 2 tacos on an order instead of 3. We'll definitely go again and would highly recommend. Reservations are a necessity!! Small place.

Mexican joints are getting to be like Italianos-You're going to be relatively assured you'll have SOMETHING edible no matter what. Then there's the outliers on top of the curve, who take the familiar and elevate it. Bien Trucha, here, is one of those. Curb appeal?, I drove past it. Nothing bad, just conservative. They have an attractive outdoor seating area, which I did not take advantage of, 'cos it was raining, plus; I'm really not a fan of dining al fresco. I know there are a lot of folks who DO dig fressing outside, and this looks like a fine place to do it. Inside, it's still conservative, but most pleasant. Hope you don't mind sharing space, 'cos the tables are thisclosetogether. I arrived right at the opening bell, on a weekday afternoon, so I was the onliest person in the section. If it was crowded, having people sit that close would not be good for Wife and I, to the point we'd prolly not dine there. Which would be unfortunate, as the food and drinks are ripping good here-read on. I had heard from a fellow foodie the Margaritas were top-notch. He was wrong. They are UNBELIEVABLY EXCELLENT. My notes from the visit were "OMG!" Up 'til now, my Margy standard has been the West Side's Lalo's. Please see my Yelps for that forlorn former evergreen, who's food and service has slipped below Taco Bell quality. I have sung like Caruso about their Margarita. I hope the accountants who prolly now call the shots at Lalo's haven't targeted their superstar player. But I digress. The Margarita here, is above and beyond the call. Truth be known, it's a small pour, wished it was a bit more generous. As I was driving, it was a "one and done"-so the small size was actually a plus. But damn! I sure wanted another and another. There actually was a great fix for that craving-read on. I ordered the "Trio" flight of dips-a guacamole, a pepitas thing, and a corn thing. Came with a basket of fine totopos, wot I suspect were hecho in casa. You can order any of those dips as a full order, but I wanted to sample. They were all excellent. For Hors D'oeuvre I had the Aguachile De Res-It was a ceviche-type thing, although done with hanger steak. Cold steak doesn't sound appetizing, but this dish was tasty, indeed! Tacos are the main event here-2 to an order. The menu is a siren, a cruel temptress. I wanted one of each, but that wasn't gonna happen. I swung with the Hongos (Mushrooms) 'cos I've never had mushroom tacos, and I LOVE mushrooms. They were divine. Was on the verge of ordering another pair of something else, but I know I would have been overstuffed. Didn't want to leave there with that icky too-full feeling. I nursed that Margarita as long as I could, 'cos it was fabulous accompaniment to the cuisine, but there's only so much in the glass. The very efficient bartender Omar, who doubled as my pleasant and totally pro waiter let me in on a secret. The "Limonada" on the menu was the aforementioned "miracle margarita" minus the boozy stuff. Eureka! It was a great wash for the remainder of the meal, and slaked the aching desire for another round of the diminutive nutterbutter that began it. None of this was cheap. I left about $75 for my solo dinner with one cocktail. One more thing: The music was REALLY loud-and as I indicated, it was early and I was the only one in that room. I'm a musician, and love to hear it. But they were playing a hip-hop program, and if I was in the bar, it would have been cool. It was opening time, and I suspect the music was loud as the staff prepared for the evening. I get it. But loud hip-hop isn't my first choice for dining music. I asked them to turn it down, and they did, slightly; but it was still a bit annoying. Nothing against hip-hop, mind you. So anyway, The bread rates 5 stars, but I'm docking one star for the circuses. High prices, a Lilliputian Margarita, too close seating, and an ear-bending soundtrack are the opportunity areas for this otherwise excellent resto. Will DEFINITELY return here-Early in the afternoon, though...

It is a very small place but the food and drinks are well worth the wait. We tried The cucumber lime, regular, avocado, strawberry and blood orange margaritas, SO Good. We also ordered several kinds of tacos and shared to try different kinds. The service was excellent also.

Great restaurant with beautiful patio seating. Food & drinks are delicious! Had the guacamole with honeydew which was incredible! Watermelon margaritas & pastor tacos with the side of corn. Everything was very fresh. Service was great! Very friendly. Made recommendations of what to try. Highly recommend.

6 of us came here for a celebration lunch. They bring out chips and bean dip with a sprinkle of toppings. Very authentic and tasty. Ordered guac and the salsa trio for the table and it was also delicious. We all ordered 2-4 tacos and I think tried every kind between all of us, no one was disappointed. We each ordered a side of corn and wow was that good. We didn't order any drinks this time because we had to go back to work, but they looked good. Rave reviews from everyone, including the two guys from Mexico (Chihuahua and Monterrey), excited to come back now that I've found it.

I am from the city, but work in the area and have been here twice so far this year. The tacos and guac are so good!! The staff is very nice, and to me the place is pretty authentic which I was surprised by due to its aesthetic appeal. I would love to come back for the happy hour some time.

Have not been here for a long while, but decided to give it a whirl. We sat outside in one of the pods. The temperature was around 18f but we were nice and toasty with the heater inside. Our pod was big (they have 8) and I think they were all the same. Seating is at a picnic tables and I think you could fit about 8. They do have a $125 minimum on the weekend nights. Started with the blood orange margarita. A hint of spice and good flavors. I recommend it. We also had the chips and trio (guacamole, corn and something else) but all 3 were awesome. Then some ceviche - tilapia with a tangy sauce and some veggies. Also wonderful. Tacos come in sets of two. The special was beef tip tacos, really good. I also got the fried avocado tacos. I was stuffed. The portion size was good and two tacos with an appetizer would have been plenty. They also were very accommodating for the gluten free, dairy free person in our group. Really fun! Will definitely return!

Food and drinks were amazing we always sit out in the pods and Leonardo is a stellar server! Will definitely be going back as we always do. Only thing I would change...the cheap silverware, fork was so thin it bent while trying to break through the flautas.

How do you know nobody else got sick? Look at my review as zero would have been more appropriate. I'm very upset and your twisted comeback makes it worse. I won't be back so no worries there. Service, food and whole experience was 'authentically' sucky. Why not face up instead as I was sick for 3 days. Lost several lbs though the hard way. I know it's your food/place as all I had to eat. Food poisoning is the worst and 'however' you want to twist it, it came from your place. Narrowing it down as all I had to eat all day. Got immediately sick 45 minutes after. Worst experience par none so you win there. I'd rather have you admit what happened than twist it how you did in your response. Food was terrible. Service Condescending and rude. Authentic? We'll.... If it is, I'm not going where your from as no need to spend what I did to get crap Now.... I hope I 'cleared' that up for you. I think it's near crystal clear now as your response was canned and pathetic.

Burnt Trucha is one tasty spot ! They have great appetizers and tacos ! I recommend the elote dip. The drinks were great as well. The place is great for a date night with low lighting and candles . Would recommend !

The wood-paneled space offered tasty, neatly packed two-bite tacos and fun dips in this youthful and only mildly pretentious restaurant. The guacamole was creamy and fresh, and the tajin-dusted elote dip was delicious. A second take on guacamole added honeydew - which was pleasant and creative. The chips were airy and thick. The servers were friendly and watchful. Certain fundamentals were covered. The Al Pastor was well marinated and the chorizo and chihuahua combo on the Bien Trucha tacos packed a big punch. Still, others lacked. The tortillas were stale, and the chips were greasy. This is a great place to eat. It's creative and adorable. The execution could be tighter - and come to match the promise - but I'd be happy either way.

It used to be awesome when they had the amazing steak tacos and the swordfish tacos. Now their steak tacos are no better than anywhere else and they don't even serve the swordfish taco anymore. Giving it two stars since it's fallen so far from where it used to be.

Came here for dinner with my girlfriend and ordered a bunch of stuff on the menu. Everything was really good and the spicy margarita was amazing! I would recommend the pineapple and pork and tinga!

My bf has been raving about this place so we decided to get out of Chicago downtown for a quick road trip to Galena. Cute and quaint town! He made a reservation and we had the option of dining indoors or wait a few minutes for the awesome giant pod domes! I've always wanted to dine in one of these so we decided to wait. The wait was about 5-10 minutes and then we were quickly seated. Their patio is really cute. They had heat lamps throughout for open patio seats and heaters inside the domes. However, there is a minimum of $125 spending needed to be seated in one of these domes. We had no problem doing so with the two of us but we ordered a lot and knew we would need boxes to take home. The staff were all too sweet and accommodating. From the hostesses, foodrunners, our server, and manager. Thank you for your kindness and being so sweet! Food was good, loved the aesthetic and vibes! Everything was pretty cheap too! I mean we live in the city so I'm used to jacked up prices lol It was a neat little trip to Galena and will certainly be back!!!

I went here for lunch yesterday on a whim after seeing so many positive reviews and let me tell you, the food did not disappoint! The restaurant was packed (1pm Wednesday before Thanksgiving) but we only waited a few minutes to be seated. The restaurant definitely gives that "hole-in-the-wall" vibe, the bar is directly to the left when you walk in and the kitchen is seemingly right in the middle of the building! Seating indoors was limited (although we snagged a spot right by the front window), but there seemed to be plenty of pods to sit in outside. Our waitress was kind, and gave us our space to talk and eat without making us feel like we were forgotten about. On to the food. My fiancé and I split "the trio" which had two kinds of guacamole and an Elote dip. The "chef's choice" guacamole was fruity (papaya?), a little sweet, but a nice switch up. The Elote dip was show stopping, incredibly flavorful, and definitely our favorite of the three. For drinks I got the Fresona margarita which was not overly sweet and he got the Apasionado which was a nice blend of spicy and sweet. My fiancé ordered the pork lunch bowl consisting of ancho-guajillo marinated pork, esquites, poblano rice, pickled onions, salsa morita, avocado, serrano aioli. He complimented the dish on its portion size and flavor. I ordered the "Diabla" tacos, which were juicy, spicy, and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. I also ordered the "Pollo Almendrado" tacos which were savory and some of the best chicken tacos I've had in quite a while. All in all, it was a fantastic lunch. The only thing keeping me from a 5-star review is the layout as it's a little awkward to wait in the doorway to be seated and navigate around the people at the bar. The tables where we were sitting are also very close together which can make conversation a little hard.

The special salmon tacos are very delicious!! My family hopes they put them on the regular menu! Marco L provided excellent service!

We visited on Saturday night, Leo was our server. Food and drinks were amazing as usual. They were very busy but Leo was attentive and fulfilled every request. Always a great time and food is amazing, margaritas are the best in the area!

One of my all time favorite restaurants! Amazing drinks and the fish tacos are to die for. Super friendly staff, Oscar is always so nice. If you haven't eaten in an igloo yet you have to try it!

A girl brought me here, casually saying we didn't dress for it. Luckily, no one said anything about our attire. We got the special guacamole, which was watermelon. It was amaaaaazing. She got the elotes which also was great. For tacos, I got the pastor and pineapple tacos and she got hers with avocado. Let's just say her taco was much more better than mine, although both were amazing. We both got margaritas- I had the traditional. Strong drinks and well worth it! Thought we would end our dinner with a shot of tequila. We asked for a chaser and the waitress brought us pieces of pineapple lol. We had to clarify pineapple juice or a chaser. It was actually very smoothe- I didn't even need my chaser. $80 later, I had quite the buzz. Will definitely come back!

We did a walk-about evening in Geneva and stopped by Bien Trucha to get some food to go since it had such great reviews. Our reaction? NOM NOM NOM! First of all, as folks taking COVID-19 very seriously, we were delighted to see the precautions taken by Bien Trucha to ensure customer safety: masks, sanitization, and température checks. Thank you for taking the safety of your customers seriously, even when precaution may not be popular. Second of all, the food was ready quickly so that we were able to walk to the waterfront and have a delicious and scenic dinner. Yay! Third, and most importantly, the food was DIVINE! We got the esquites AND salsa trio. O.M.G. This may have been the highlight of the meal. The esquites was creamy and perfect. The three salsas were equally scrumptious. The smoky salsa was my friends favorite, the spicy red salsa was my husbands favorite, and the salsa verde was my favorite. And the tacos...NOM. We tried almost every single taco type and the highlights were the skirt steak, shrimp, and Pastor. Pastor was my favorite and I could have eaten a dozen of them. SO GOOD! Prices were excellent, staff were helpful, and to-go packaging was very careful and individualized! Bien Trucha has won our hearts and we look forward to returning long into the future!

I try new restaurants every weekend and No doubt this is my favorite restaurant! This is my to go place I just love the food, the drinks, EVERYTHING! A lil expensive so I can't go as much as I would love to but LOVE IT, the food is great and the aguacatl drink just insane
