Outdoor beer garden with German pub grub & rotating draft beers

"Generally, places that have lines are good. Sure, they might be overrated and test your patience, but look how well Furbies turned out for everyone. Biergarten will have a line—especially on a nice day—but suck it up and wait it out. The German beer is top-notch, as are the sausages and pretzels, and there’s something uniquely San Francisco about sitting in a possibly-converted parking lot surrounded by a chain-link fence drinking at a picnic table." - Taylor Abrams
"Biergarten in Hayes Valley is the kind of place you plan to go to for an hour and end up spending the whole day at. They serve a variety of German beers in either liter or half liter mugs, so once you’ve settled in with your crew, you won’t need to head to the bar every thirty seconds for a refill. Rather you can hang out and talk about everything from your roommate’s love of NASCAR t-shirts, to that awful time in middle school when you accidentally made a three pointer in the wrong team’s basket. When you inevitably get hungry, they have things like pretzels and sausages to snack on, or you can head to Barcino or Souvla nearby for something more substantial." - will kamensky, nic strain 2
"Everything at this bar in Hayes Valley is located outside, except for a few shipping containers where the food and beer come from. Otherwise, it’s an empty lot with a ton of picnic tables full of people drinking well-priced Belgian beer and eating sausages and pretzels. While you’re probably not coming here for a full meal, it’s a great place to spend an entire afternoon when you’ve got nothing better to do or they’re fumigating your apartment for the third time. The only thing that’s missing is lights, probably so they can close at night because no one would leave if it were an option." - will kamensky

"Between working 70 hours a week to try to make your minuscule amounts of startup equity worth something and not wanting to waste a precious Saturday night on a dud date, meeting at Biergarten during the day is a great option. It’s usually packed, but it’s easy enough to ignore the people around you, unless you quickly run out of things to talk about. You could even have a few friends “happen” to be on the other side of the yard in case you need a bailout. But if things go great, you can continue the night nearby with dinner at Barcino or Domo." - will kamensky
