Yelp
WALKED OUT.
I don't remember the last time I actually walked out of a restaurant. As a Yelp Elite Squad reviewer, I take my reviews VERY seriously.
My friend and I were seated promptly by the host at a table in the back on the first floor. The restaurant was not crowded. I even saw waitresses doing "busy work." Cleaning the banister on the stairway, moving stools around, etc. The host gave us menus, so we decided rather quickly what we wanted. We chatted and waited for about five minutes or so, and a waitress came to our table and asked us if we were ready to order. We gave her our drink order and food order, and she asked us if we'd like some water. We said yes. Off she went.
My friend and I chatted it up for about ten minutes, and I began to wonder where our drinks were. After another five minutes, the waitress returned with our water. Of course, after waiting 15 minutes for drinks, I had to ask her, "Would you check on our drinks?" "I'll be right back with your drinks," she replied. We then sat and watched as our waitress continued to deliver water to other tables. "Ok. She'll probably get them after the water service," I thought hopefully. WRONG. We waited some more. Another five minutes and I remarked to my friend, "I am 'this close' to walking out". Finally, I see our waitress at the bar. She is filling up pints herself at the tap. She's coming our way. She walks right by us to deliver the pints to the adjacent table. And I heard her say, "Anyone else?" My friend said, "Yeah, us!" But she paid no attention. "That's it," I said. I can understand if the restaurant is swamped and understaffed. This was clearly not the case. I felt snubbed. What a miserable experience. We walked out. The waitress didn't even notice. We went across the street to El Jacalito Grill (see my review) and received excellent service.
My followers will see that I've reviewed this establishment twice before. One review was very good. So, perhaps it's a mixed bag. The customers at the adjacent table seemed to have received excellent service, while we were starved for it. So, I don't know. Are you a gambler?
So, I always start with 5 stars. I deduct 1 for the wait, 2 for the insult, 1 for the food we didn't get, 1 for the drinks we didn't get, and 1 for the all-around miserable experience. OMG. That's all five! Oh well, I have to give one in order to submit my review.
