Big Ben Pub

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The owners/co-owners of whatever they like to call themselves the 3 guys like to sit in their corner of the restaurant. We had went to this place to watch the World Cup and it was an amazing game, service was great for it being pretty crowded up until it was time to pay… our bill was $221 we paid in CASH and put down $250 and the rest plus extra was left for tips for our server, $45 for tip (who in the end was not so great like we thought). The rest of us go outside while my 2 other family members give the server the cash as we didn’t want to leave $250 right on the table. One of my family members go into the bathroom to use it before we all head out and at this point I’m waiting outside with the rest of them and we get a call from my family member who left the bathroom saying they won’t let her go because the cash is fake (which was not). The server grabbed my family member BY THE SHIRT put her hands RIGHT ON HER, which she had no right to. And the owners are just laughing in the corner taking no accountability as they realized it was real when they checked it with the pen which they should’ve the first time before accusing us. I don’t know if it was a racial discrimination because no one else had a hard time but the owners were being loud when saying the money “was fake” and others around heard it too making it very embarrassing. We called to complain and they checked the cameras of the server putting her hands on my family member and then they apologize and tell us our next meal will be on them. But we aren’t accepting it.

Fish and Chips were excellent. Light crisp batter and flaky halibut. The shrimp was not a favorite because it was overly battered.

The food and atmosphere here are wonderful! I regularly come here for their appetizer specials. The portions are huge. Summer is regularly my server and she's amazing. The other servers are great too. Highly recommend!

Food was really good. We had 2 orders of the English Breakfast and the fish and chips. The breakfasts were great. Very filling. The beans were your basic beans from a can but not the British way. The eggs on both plates cooked perfectly! Bacon was British bacon with a great smoey flavor, delicious. Sausage was tasty but did not taste like the British Cumberland sausage. Delicious nonetheless. Potatoes were seasoned perfectly. Toast was fully buttered. Amazing!! The fish and chips were delicious! A very large piece of haddock and plenty of chips. The batter was light and crispy. Fries were seasoned well although I'm not a fan of seasoned salt. Service was great. Friendly, place was clean and they had a breakfast buffet with an omelette station. Will be back to take in a soccer game and try more of the menu

My first time here, met a group for dinner before a show uptown. I got the blackened salmon BLT which was very good. They had $4 mimosas all day on Saturday, so I got a couple of pineapple ones. They were very yummy. Prices of food was pretty reasonable too. Customer service was great, very friendly staff. I’ll definitely come back again.

On a whim I searched for a British pub and luckily Big Ben popped up. Went for lunch figuring I would get fish and chips or something but was pleasantly surprised to see a British breakfast. Ordered some Scotch eggs, breakfast plate and my wife had the shrimp salad. Scotch egg was pretty good but it was literally one egg cut into 4 slices. For the price two eggs would be a better deal. The English breakfast was good. Had the correct items to make it a English breakfast. Beans were a little stale tasting but I can’t be to harsh about them. Wife said salad was a little over dressed. Would prefer dressing on the side to have ratio of her choice. Other than those small misses for us it was worth having and going again the next time we are in town. Bonus was one tv screen showing the F1 race. That would get an extra star from me.

I was born and bred in England, and this was the only place in Charlotte advertising a cornish pasty. Impossible parking, all paid meters with exorbitant prices. The two assigned places for. The building parking lot says employee parking (so the guest pays for parking , while the employees park for free, something wrong with that). While the server and bartender are very friendly, they are not British and have never even been there. The website menu is completely out of date and has been since October (it's now April). So no more cornish pasties and no scotch eggs. That was VERY disappointing. The bangers are from Sysco (accordingtoour waitress), not even a local butcher! I asked about cider on the menu and she said they had Magners only, and whole pints not halves, then after we'd ordered I saw Angry Orchard by bottle, so again, lack of education). We ordered the steak and mushroom pies and a smashbuger. Our adult daughter said the smash burger was really good, but it came with frozen seasoned fries (again, not a British thing). The meat pies came with steamed veggies and a generous scoop of mashed potatoes with a delicious brown gravy. The pies, however, are a different thing. They are pre-made (because I asked for no mushrooms). Nice puff pastry, but the filling had so little "steak" or mushrooms in them, and the gravy inside the pie was awful. Lots of TV screens inside, and they do show Premier League. Overall assessment from a Brit, don't go there for the food, but the bar scene. We sat outside, and that was very pretty, watching the trams go by. Based on the fact that we were there for food, I would not recommend this restaurant (sorry). The table next to us ordered Haddock (no cod) and said that was the worth ordering, although they were eating wings.

My server Pili Carolina was extremely friendly and offered excellent service! The food (I recommend the buffalo wings) and the dessert was top notch!

Fun for an easy meal and sporting events. They also allowed my little puppy to stay

This was my birthday dinner 2 days ago. I had the haddock and chips. Haddock was not battered, not one single bit!!! My "chips" were COLD. What they call coleslaw slaw is really cabbage and LETTUCE (if you can believe that) with some kind of sauce. That's it!! My friend had the burger (sans bun) which had zero seasoning and was not cooked well done (as asked) as there was a lot of pink. Needless to say, this was my first and last time I will visit this restaurant. Maybe they depend upon inebriated patrons for good reviews. Happy birthday to me. British Pub it is not!

Went for a Dallas vs Philly game and it was nothing short of a hostile environment. Had a great time arguing with Philly fans as they were losing from beginning to end. Then towards the end of the 4th quarter, an obnoxious security guard and some random white male put their hands on me. This was all because women started to request pictures with me. The owner eventually came out and tried to deescalate the situation. By that time the patrons had shown a side of themselves that wasn't rooted in sport. Racist remarks were whispered & hurled at me. Even as I tried to use the restroom, there was loud talks of disrespectful comments directed towards me. I'll be back next NFL season. Hopefully the owner and his minions will be more accommodating to locally born n raised Charlotteans. Versus pandering to transplants who simply move into my hometown with no respect or decorum.

This was my first time visiting this location, and it was a pleasant experience. I came here for the Champions League final soccer game, and the atmosphere was great. It was a bit warm inside, as the AC wasn't working efficiently, and we had a light on us that they wouldn't turn off. However, the food was excellent, and our waitress was amazing. I would definitely come back again and recommend this place to family and friends.

I love the atmosphere at this place. It's especially fun to go to on weeknights for dinner since it's not so busy like it is on the weekend. My husband got the fish and chips and I got the salmon. Everything was delicious. Definitely give this place a try.

We arrived for a very late dinner after leaving the hospital. We were a party of 5 and everyone was super satisfied with our meal. We were seated right away on a Friday night. The server was a little slow taking our order but the food came out fairly quickly. The fish and chips was the best we've had outside the UK. The fries were excellent and the burgers were great. And the steak and mushroom pie had a flaky crust though not the biggest serving. All in all it was a nice meal and we would go back.

My ladies' dining group went to Big Ben Pub for Restaurant Week. I had not been here since they moved from their South End location. So, I decided that's the whole point of Restaurant Week... to try new places for a reasonable price and their $30 three course meal with wine was definately reasonable ! For starters, I got the buffalo haddock bites. They were excellent and I highly recommend. One lady got the banger bites. The sausage was good, but the puffed pastry over it didn't really add anything and it was better without it. There was mustard and relish served in cups on the side, but she didn't use them. She didn't eat much of it since she wasn't impressed. For entrees I got the haddock and chips. The oil it was fried in must not have been quite the right temperature yet because it was a tad greasy. I put a napkin over it and that helped. The flavor was good and the fish inside was nice. The piece of fish was huge ! It came with cole slaw and a pickle. The fries were not very crispy and that's a pet peeve of mine. The cole slaw was very good. However, the pickle had a hair on it when I picked it up so I didn't eat it. I did mention it to the waitress though. The meal came with a glass of house red or white wine. One lady got the shepherd's pie and said it was ok, but she's had better. From my vantage point, it looked runny inside. I like a drier meat filling that is still moist. For dessert we all got the housemade bread pudding. It was ok. It had a strange frothy texture and a sweet but plain taste. It had a few raisins and that was the only real flavor. I took home a piece of Limoncello cake for my husband. He wasn't impressed and said it tasted like a bought cake from the store. One of the ladies ordered off the menu and got a burger and fries. She said it was good. I hate these type of chairs that some restaurants have. They are so uncomfortable and they look cheap. I cannot imagine having to sit here for too long. One of the ladies joked that they have them so that you don't stay too long. The interior was decorated nice and they had a red phone booth. In summary, I might go back for the bites and haddock if I was over that way... but would likely choose Sir Edmund Halley's instead since it's closer and they have comfortable seating. Big Ben would be my last choice if I wanted fish for those 2 reasons.

The new menu updates are great! I would order that salad over and over again. It was definitely a "dinner salad", which I appreciated. My husband loved his burger and shared that his egg was cooked perfectly. They have great menu items and there's something for everyone on there. We honestly rarely have a bad meal here and it helps that they're also an Eagles/Philly bar ;)

It feels like a real Brit pub in London. My fish and chips were good. Plenty of télé to watch different sports. It's a fun place to go have good pub food. We had great service too.

I've visited Big Ben twice in the last couple of weeks, mainly because of it being the new game watching spot for the Charlotte Seminoles Club. The first time, we just came for the game and to have some drinks. It was jam packed and the music was blasting. It was a fun and energetic environment to watch a football game. The bartenders did a great job of being attentive toward everyone, despite the noise and chaos. On our most recent visit, we sat down and had some food before the start of the FSU game. The restaurant wasn't too crowded so it seems that the daytime games aren't as much of a crazy time for the restaurant. The game day sampler was a great mix of different appetizers and shared between two people, this was plenty of food! I felt that everything on the plate was pretty good--nothing spectacular. The chicken tenders were probably my favorite item, followed by the mozzarella sticks. Some friends dining with us had the loaded steak fries and also ordered some wings. They said that the flavors of wings tasted pretty similar. I think that this is a great game day spot and the food is good as far as bar food goes. The service deserves some praise as the bartenders and servers are attentive and quick to take care of requests for things like extra sauces and silverware.

This place is a Charlotte staple. I wanted to get the fish and chips, but just was not in the mood. So I got their Curry Chicken instead. It was phenomenal! Tons of food too, I could barely finish it. A great price too! It is a sports bar and has that kind of vibe. The staff was so friendly and patient!

My husband and I frequented the old location and their new. We have been loyal customers due to the environment and consistency. This was our first time ordering actual food (other than their addictive house made chips) My husband ordered fish and chips (and there is a deal on it every Friday). Which he enjoyed while it was hot. I ordered their beef Wellington. After 3 cocktails in, I thought it was "decent" if you're looking for a classic Gordon Ramsay, Hells Kitchen level Wellington, your expectations will be underwhelmed. But if you're good for a dive bar's edition Wellington, you'd be okay. Vegetables lacked seasoning, however, I enjoyed the mash and gravy. I'm terms of the "hero" of the plate, I was not asked how I would like it cooked, it came out medium (my preference is medium rare) though the most redeeming quality is the absolute tenderness. The good times, service, and drinks will keep my husband and I coming back.

I went to Big Ben for the first time on Monday for their Queen's Feast menu and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the theme, menu options and overall comfort of the restaurant! Considering my Mum and extended family are from England, I had pretty high expectations for how their food would compare. I got some staple items including Shepherds Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding, and was pleasantly surprised at the rich flavors and large portion sizes. I left feeling full and happy! Considering it was a Monday night, the space was pretty empty which is why I was surprised that our service was a bit slow. Other than that I enjoyed the decor in the space, and there was plenty of parking across the street for free. I can imagine that this location in Plaza Midwood gets packed on game days so I hope to go back and get the full experience during the soccer season!

Best fish & chips in Charlotte! It's the only thing I get here. Always solid service and easy parking. 5/5

Definitely the spot for eagles games - service was as expected, prices are pretty average for a pub too. The house made potato chips weren't great but the chicken tenders were yummy and piping hot. Fun atmosphere and good people. Get there early on Sundays!

Suzie's dedication to customer satisfaction truly amplifies the overall experience at Big Ben's. With such outstanding service, it's clear she deserves more shifts. Big Ben is hosting the FSU seminole club this year, so I came today to watch the football game. Definitely a nice sized bar. Drinks were reasonably priced also. I ordered some buffalo wings and they were definitely not my favorite. Wings were definitely dry as in they lacked sauce and the meat was also dry. Steak fries were mediocre and it seemed like they skimped out on those as well. The woman I was sitting next to at the bar wasn't a fan of the chicken tenders she ordered either, so I wouldn't suggest the food.

Great food, top-notch service. Great bar vibe. I would also like to give a huge shout out to Cassie and Summer for always creating a welcoming atmosphere.

This place is a great place to watch any soccer games. I been here to watch the World Cup and other games, the atmosphere is great especially when the England team plays. The fish and chips are my favorite, I had it plenty of times here and every time is hot and crispy. Always good service,

Was in the area and wanted to get a good cottage pie. Came in for lunch and had a seat at the bar. I caught them on a weekday before the lunch rush so there wasn't alot going on. The service was ok, nothing too spectacular. Ordered the cottage pie based on the bartenders recommendation. Food was good, again nothing to write home about. Overall the experience was good. Not sure if I would return but may give it another try.

Let me say, the food and service was great. Reasonable prices. But I have to say how much I miss the old location. The atmosphere here is far from any British isle pub I've ever seen. The vibe feels disjointed ,like a cheesy Mediterranean place you might find at Myrtle Beach. No warmth or charm of a real British pub. My two cents... We will be back. My advise , Would the owners please hire a decorator.

I love Big Ben!!! The food and atmosphere is amazing! Please bring back all the meat pies, Shepard pies and Scottish eggs.

We have had good food here in the past, so we thought we'd try the bar area for St. Patrick's Day/NCAA basketball. We only stayed for one beer before cashing out and heading to another bar. Two problems: 1)The bartender had a really bad attitude; she seemed mad at the customers. There are so many bars in Charlotte there is no reason to hang out with someone who hates her job. 2) This is March Madness in a basketball crazy state. There were six TVs in the bar, and only two were tuned to basketball. This is early in the tournament, so there are 4 games on concurrently. We politely asked to change one of the channels off women's tennis, but she didn't. See problem #1. One single employee can ruin a guests experience We moved on to Clutch, where the servers are enthusiastic and hopefully making a lot of money today.

What an awesome pub! Great beers and delicious food. I had the chicken wings with the bourbon sauce, They were fantastic and super yummy. Ladies had the chicken tiki masala flatbread, which smelled wonderful and tasted even better. It was served on a bed of rice with two pieces of flatbread for dipping. Great menu selection, so many more things to try here! Love that it is so close to Caldwell Presbyterian Church, like two blocks away. We will definitely be back. A great place to watch a Sunday pro football game!

Amazing British pub in the heart of Charlotte ! Their location in the Elizabeth area is in true British style with great artwork of the London skyline , with great touches commemorating the Queen, and a great place to watch English football and all the US sports! The food here is outstanding! And my main reason to come . We went here to celebrate the Queens jubilee with a bunch of Brits during jubilee weekend and had a brilliant time. We got seated at the table by the awesome art scene of Big Ben and the London eye wheel. Between 12 of us we managed to order a good variety of food, I shared the fish and chips, bangers and mash and sausage rolls . Totally recommend sharing a few of the standard British offerings . The fish and chips comes with a huge piece of fish and plenty of yummy thick chips. True England style! With plenty of vinegar and ketchup this went down a treat . The bangers and mash was also a favorite. The mashed potatoes were so good with gravy and the bangers nice and meaty and again the true British sausages. So good. The sausage rolls were also good , wrapped in puff pastry not too thick so you get more Sausage taste less pastry. Delicious! Also on the table the big British breakfast was really good, real British bacon ! and the Shepards pie looked amazing and huge! Also very meaty with lots of lovely mashed potatoes on top. The build your own skillets were great cause you get what you want in it. The desserts were to die for. Obviously we went for the British best, knickerbocker glory, sticky toffee pudding and the apple crumble. All of them the best I've had outside of the UK! Sticky toffee is my absolute favorite pudding in England. They did a great job on this here. Bit more sauce would be good though ! The knickerbocker glory was like a trifle and layered to perfection with all the goodies. Cake, custard, fruit and jello. The apple crumble was a hearty winter dessert but still delicious In June. Nice cinnamon apples flavor and warm as crumbles should be. With some yummy custard. Perfect! Would recommend all of the things we got . Top notch food so hats off to the chef. Was the perfect spot for our celebration of the Queen ! Long live Big Ben ! Great food, atmosphere and staff!

This is a fun neighborhood spot with a cute ambiance that makes you miss your family vacation to London. We go on the weekdays to sit at the bar, especially during football seasons where a hot meal is just what you're craving. The fish and chips were tasty, but could've been a little saltier. We also have ordered the various pies on the menu - which are excellent. I like mine piping hot so occasionally ask for my pie to be more crispy. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to LOVE Big Ben but it just fell short for me. We came after fasting for a blood draw all day and were famished and this was the closest place to the lab that also looked fun. The Good: it's a pretty fun atmosphere to watch a game - especially more European sports like soccer or rugby. Lots of TVs above the bar. It's also a chill place to just have a drink and they have a decent pour of Guinness. The Meh: the food was pretty average at best for me. I got fish and chips and the fish was super dry inside while the batter was very soggy. I didn't get any of that lovely crunch fish and chips should have like the ones at Workman's Friend or Ri Ra. The fries were also very bland. Our server was friendly enough but hard to get anything out of. I wanted more vinegar than what was on my plate but when I asked for vinegar she said "there's some on your plate there" and walked away before I could finish my sentence. It was about 4:30 pm so it was before they got busy. Sigh. The Bad: nothing really I guess I'd probably come back to watch a game, have a drink, and maybe try some other food but there are other places I'd rather try/go back to first.

Mann Review: The Queen and the Hearth It's finally here, the moment you've all been waiting for. This one is for you, fans of Mann. There's no need to cobble and construct rudimentary weapons this time. (7 Sept 1940, the German Luftwaffe commences the devastating aerial blitzkrieg of an unyielding England. As the deep rumbling of many Heinkel He 111 persist overhead, more than a few proud English saw plates a bare and a frostbitten hearth. The all too proud German menace would soon suffocate under the weight of its' nemesis, the English spirit.) That very spirit persists to this day in Big Ben Pub. Passport. Check. Plane ticket. Check. Neck Pillow? Ultra check. Time to take a trip overseas! Let's talk style! Walking into Big Ben, a person will first notice the large and accommodating bar space. Surrounding the bar are more than ample seating arrangements. Walking past the bar will be another large room for seating with walls adorned with TV's, art, and King's country relics. The space is augmented by a little nook that I like to call "The Queen's Corner." It was in that corner that I was greeted by the portraits of Diana, the late Queen, and the warmed hearth. I knew in short order that I was in good company as I waited for a hot, homely meal. Décor Mann Score: 4.25/5 A wise man once whispered into the ear of a child, saying "temper your rage." Whereas children often heed the words of mavens, the foolhardy grow old and callous. This is the birth of the critic. The sole duty of the critic is to assess and ascertain every aspect of service from conceptions heartbeat to the final silence of the dying mind. As the living brain lusts for oxygen, so too did I lust for the attentive devotion of an impassioned servant. While not harsh or unpleasant, my female waiter fell short of my standards of service as her phlegmatic nature was apparent and unacceptable. Service Mann Score: 2.5/5 At long last, we make our final stop of the King's country in the Queen city: Food. Two dishes and a foredish were sampled on this particular occasion; The foredish being the fabled Welsh rarebit, and the latter being that of fish n' chips flanked by a steak and mushroom pie. If the rarebit be a taste of Wales, then may the soil of my country never grace my feet again. I wave goodbye to my weeping family as I bolt across the vast Atlantic, stowed away in the belly of a galley. Forgive me for day dreaming, Mann fans, but had you sampled the food, you too would understand. The fish n' chips, while crispy, hot, and plentiful, could have brought a bit more to the table as far as flavour is concerned. If I had a hat to take off, then it's hats off to the coleslaw and wally. Splendid. The late Queen looked on from her corner as I dashed into the steak and mushroom pie. We shared a brief glance before it was off to the races. Savoury, filling, and with a taste of home, this wholesome blend so lovingly made brought to me the comfort of the bucolic. The brown gravy and filling was full of flavour, contrasting nicely with the flaky, airy pastry. I cannot offer praise nor blame to the mashed potatoes. While a great compliment, they were but a pawn in a game of Kings. The same could be said of the vegetable medley. Food Mann Score: 3.9/5 A wise man once whispered into the ear of a child, saying "temper your rage." He crossed my mind today, as I now think back upon the fervour of my youth. I ponder his thoughts, and if there ever was a moment of regret in his words. In the death of rage, mediocrity is born. Let these be my whispered words. I look up; It is almost dusk. Atmosphere is not like a British pub at all. The food was a lot better than expected, but the service was horrible. No greeting, felt like I was bugging the bartender to ask if it was okay to sit somewhere. There weren't many people there at the time, so I don't really understand why everything took so long. Sat for quite a while waiting in menus, then took a while for someone to get our drink order - based on that we decided to go ahead and order food at the same time, but we didn't get a chance. We ordered our drink then the server turned around and walked away. Luckily we were in a hurry and the saving grace was the food. But the did not get a nice tip at all. We're not usually in the area, and had to go out of the way to try this place. Now we did, and we'll never go back.

The best spot in Charlotte to watch the Eagles games. Good drink specials. High energy. And most importantly, full of Philadelphia Eagles fans!!!

Miss the previous location on South Blvd. Not sure what happened but the foods gone down the toilet, their "out" of items on the menu, even though it's fairly limited and the service leaves a lot to be desired. Top it off with the place is filthy and they throw a mandatory 20% on all checks, including takeout, we won't be coming back. The new Big Bens doesn't hold a candle to the old one. Goodbye Big Ben...

Big Ben is an Eagles bar and the atmosphere on game day is super fun! The sweet potato fries are fantastic! Definitely a great place to hang with your pals.

If you are going to this location on Elizabeth Avenue thinking it will be the cozy,friendly place that was at South End you are in for a surprise. First of all, no wood, no well worn atmosphere. Tiled floors, metal tables and chairs, all hard surfaces. So it is very loud, even without the screaming youngster in the other room. Music was a mix of rap and what some call country music. We ordered a Guiness and a glass of wine. Server was a little slow getting it to us, but it is slow everywhere. However there seemed to be a full contingent of servers in an area off of the bar who were chatting away. For our meal we ordered the Cornish Pasty and the Chicken Tikka flatbread. My husband enjoyed the Pasty - ground beef, onions, carrots in a pastry shell, along with mashed potatoes and mixed veg, for $16, well priced. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Flatbread at $13. A simple flatbread with a VERY light shmear of the chicken sauce. Not worth the price. Our server never came back to check on us. We had to go to the bar to ask to for the check. So a 2nd server then came to see if we needed anything else, and a 3rd server brought the check. So lack of staffing was not the issue. Overall impression, if Big Ben were knocked up by Hooters this would be it!

As a patron of the old South End location I was disappointed in the ambiance of the new restaurant. There is nothing remotely "pub" like. It looks like dozens of other restaurants. The industrial chic metal chairs are uncomfortable to say the least. The only bright spot was the reliable and always delicious haddock and chips.

Back to Big Ben after nearly ten years (and over 12,000 reviews later). We were not impressed. Service was great and the young lady who took care of us was great. Friendly and attentive, she got orders taken, drinks filled, food brought and the check promptly. All good there. I chose the Scotch Egg salad, adding a grilled chicken breast. Nothing special here, but a decent serving. My daughter chose the Cornish Pasty and said that the stuffing was good but the outside was dry. My wife chose the roast beef and barely ate half of it. Overdone and the gravy was off. She's a Brit, as I mentioned in my earlier review, and said that she's not familiar with whatever they're trying to do here. My Guinness was poured perfectly. A proper pint that was tan when it was set down and settled properly withing about three minutes. Good flavor and the right amount of foamy head remained on top. So... good service, a good beer, food was not so great. [Review 12567 overall, 2359 of 2019.]

Horrible service at the bar. Bartender was too busy on her laptop to wait on anybody at the bar. Even the regulars teased and asked her if she was working today. I think her name is Susie since we heard so many regulars asked for her attention. We had the potato skins appetizer and it was awful. Not sure if the potato was old or not cooked all the way through, either way, potato skins shouldn't be that thick w potato. Barely any toppings on it. We love Clutch and Graham St. Grill. We won't be back to Big Ben.

OK since they moved to their new location, it's nice and clean, but does not have any of the character that they had in their old location next to the railroad tracks. So the atmosphere was a disappointment. However, the food was better than it used to be. The burger was awesome. I just miss the old location.

Had an opportunity to see the Spongtone's perform here on New Years Eve 2020 with K. What a great show it was, a prix fixe menu option and awesome classic Beatles covers from the Spongetones! The food was great, the music was great and we had great fun!

Alexis was our server and she was just delightful. The food was fantastic but just a touch salty. We had 3 appetizers, the Welsh Rarebit - EXCELLENT Sausage Rolls - Yes Mate !! Scotch Egg - Fantastic Beef Wellington - Really Good Lord's Roast Beef - Really Good Steak & Kidney Pie - AWESOME Reason for 4 stars. It was our first visit, I'm leaving room for improvement and this place is EXCEEDINGLY LOUD. Oh, and they ran out of sweet tea. We WILL BE COMING BACK

The food is very fresh and good. They have a few traditional British foods and a twist on some old favorites "Bangers Mac and Cheese". Service was fast too. I highly recommend.

Atmosphere was nice I got the famous fish and chips. My fish was not seasoned but was cooked well. My son got some fish tacos and he said they were good but the order only comes with two tacos. My son asked if he could get an additional taco and was told he tad to get a whole order of 2 because they couldn't sell just one. What? Ok he ordered 4 tacos with Two sides. My waitress was nice but the service was non existent. We had to ask for things 2-3 times. Her attention was on the other side of the room and I had to flag her down just to get my check. That was the worst service I've gotten in a long time and the restaurant was not even busy.

I give BB 3 stars for the fish & chips entree. My friend said the chicken tikka masala dish was tasty. We came during restaurant week. Service was poor and slow. The young lady who waited on us seemed unsure how to take order. She only allowed us to order the 2 starters only instead of our choices from the RW menu. We got to order our entrees and dessert after we finished the appetizers. The good- fish/chips were great. Chicken tikka was tasty. The bangers app was just ok. My suggestion would be to serve it with a coarse grain mustard and not chinese style hot mustard. The bad- metal chairs are uncomfortable. Service staff appeared to be lacking. Caesar Salad was not the freshest in taste nor appearance. The apple crumb dessert was more like an apple cobbler without any crumb topping. This was the 2nd time eating here. The 1st time was really good. And service was better. There are kinks that need to be corrected and the servers need to be better overall.

Food was tasty, service was absent at best. Server was friendly, bartender walked away mid sentence. It was a slow night and I'm sure they're stressed from the pandemic/low pay/politics but that's not an excuse to walk away from a customer mid-order. When I went back to my seat someone turned the music up quite loud. The server did return about 15min later with beer and about another 10min later after I asked for more vinegar. I left a 25% tip cause the server was at least friendly and I'm assuming they're dealing with something but next time I want fish and chips I'll take the family somewhere else. Hopefully the team gets their troubles worked out and the business can afford to buy a bottle or two of vinegar.

Stopped in here on a sunny Saturday afternoon for a quick drink, while capitalizing on the welcoming outdoor seating. Fantastic location along the light rail, great spot to people/dog-watch while enjoying a nice beverage among friends. Can't speak to the food, as we stuck to drinks--but it certainly looked great. Come here for friendly service and unique international beers that you may not find find elsewhere. I always love seeing "Black and Blues" on the menu!

Great British pub. Completely authentic! Get the Sticky Toffee Pudding on the dessert menu. One of the tastiest desserts you'll ever have!

Awful awful awful. (The place was beautiful for our event, the snacks were great, the owner was nice.) But the all-women-staff who waited our party was mean and condescending. They avoided eye contact and avoided taking our drink orders. They were rude in their responses towards multiple people which I witnessed. It was sad. I hope tomorrow is a better day for this crew and establishment.

I wrapped up restaurant week with a visit to Big Ben's with a couple of friends. Man do these restaurants get busy during this week and the servers really hustle! We had a pleasant time and it's a cool place to come to watch a soccer game. Parking is intense here, few spots and lots of folks going in and out, swinging around other cars, so be careful. I did see a Valet, but did not use. There was no one at the stand so I can assume he was parking or fetching another car. There were a few cars in line to use him, so everyone was swinging around them to get in and out. When you walk in, it really has the air of a British pub...or at least what I imagine one looks and feels like. There are flags hanging from the ceiling, a bar and television sets everywhere. The atmosphere was cool and lively. We were seated at our table which had to be bussed first, so we hung around the hostess station while that happened. I had reservations, but it was no big deal as they were crowded and busy. After being seated it took a minute for our server to acknowledge us and he was clipped and curt. Still, not a huge deal, but did dim the experience a bit. Our drinks were brought out and the sweet tea was really good. My friends had a mixed drink and a chardonnay. For starters I ordered the Ploughman's Platter off of the regular menu. That was the biggest disappointment of the night. A few cubes of cheese, crackers, big pile of lettuce in the middle of the plate with a spoonful of cole slaw, a pickle and 2 spoonfuls of relish along with a boule of brown bread. It felt like stuff I'd grab out of the fridge to feed popcorn visitors! Don't waste your money on that, it was truly ridiculous. We also tried the sausage rolls and those were delicious. These are kielbasa sausage wrapped in puffed pastry and served with spicy mustard and their house-made relish. Our entrees arrived swiftly...too swiftly. We were still trying to eat our appetizers and had to shift things around awkwardly. The meals were good. We sampled Haddock and Chips, which was a HUGE amount of food! Very impressive looking. The fish was well cooked, it simply lacked seasoning. I had the Cornish Pasty which was a puff pastry filled with ground beef, onions, gravy, peas, carrots and potatoes. It was so darned good! I truly enjoyed it, very flavorful and seasoned perfectly. It was served with delicious mashed potatoes and they poured more of that brown gravy on top of them and the pasty. The only problem was that the gravy and mashed potatoes were cold on top and barely warm on the bottom. I guess mine had been sitting in the window awhile. Also accompanying was mixed veggies, which were barely cooked and not seasoned at all. I LOVE veggies, and first dove into the squash and zucchini only to find it terribly bland. So disappointing. We also had the Steak Diane, and it was good. Nothing special but very good. It was a well cooked steak with a creamy sauce, accompanied by roasted potatoes and those same flavorless veggies. I had a bite of the steak and determined it was nicely grilled and cooked to temperature. The Queen's Feast came with dessert, so my friends chose the Sherry Trifle and the Bread and Butter Pudding. The waiter actually brought the apple crisp (you couldn't tell because the thing was covered with so much stuff). By the time we realized the mistake, we didn't see the waiter again to ask him to correct the mistake. The one bite I had of each was enough for me. Both were sub par, lacking flavor and finesse. They were both topped with Cool Whip and it kind of ruined the dessert. While I was not wowed by the restaurant, I do think it is a good representation of an English pub. I think if you go there expecting pub food, you will be pleasantly surprised, especially if you are drinking :)

The service is great and the food is good .... HOWEVER please teach your bartenders how to pour Guinness -- I mean --it LITERALLY has the instructions written on it.
