The Best Barbecue Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Over in Hanover, Big Bore Barbecue serves pulled pork and chicken, as well as brisket and baby back ribs. Sandwiches, platters, and many other combinations of traditional barbecue fare are on the menu. The BBQ Sundae is of note: a bowl with pulled pork, baked beans, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. This joint accepts online orders." - Eli Radtke

Absolutely worth the drive from anywhere in the Twin Cities for authentic Texas BBQ in a lively, fun atmosphere! We visited on a Friday night and were blown away by the size of the place and the great vibe. The large outdoor patio was the perfect spot to relax. Drinks were reasonably priced, although some had a heavier pour than we prefer, which may be a plus for others! Can’t wait to return for lunch and try their Big Bore Bloody Mary topped with burnt ends. As for the food, we sampled the burnt end brisket, Brussels sprouts, cheese curds, and smoked candied bacon. The brisket was a bit on the dry side for our taste, but their hot BBQ sauce brought it back to life. Everything else was full of flavor and really well done. Overall, a great spot for BBQ lovers looking for bold flavors, generous portions, and a fun dining experience.

We LOVE Big Bore BBQ. We've been coming here for about 4 years. We live in Minneapolis, MN, but don't mind the drive for excellent food! We buy the gift card deal at Christmas, where you get a $20 gift card to use Jan - March, for every $100 gift card you buy. We came on a Saturday ,6/28/25 around 3:00 p.m., and that was the perfect. Time! We got the build your own, so we got a full rack of ribs, 1/2 lb of pulled pork, regular order fries, 1 lemonade ($3.25), no pickle side, and it comes with a slice of bread. Our bill was approx:$55.08.I took several pictures of the menu, our order, the ladies bathroom accessibility, and the restaurant. This place is hands down, the BEST PLACE for BBQ! There's always a lot of parking available, if you don't see any in the normal parking lots, go to the one that is next to the smoker /it might be the overflow employee lot? There is curbside pick up too, & that we've done several times, it's easy, you can order at curbside, or I think you can order ahead? I don't go here for alcohol or live music so I can't attest to that aspect. My only Con: I'm barely 50, and it's so loud in here! Can hardly talk to my husband. Good for business in that it's busy, full, but hard to chat.

We had the best dinner here. Our server, Jodi, was amazing. Most of our party, including myself, had never been before. She made amazing recommendations and was SO friendly. The portions were huge and so, ridiculously delicious. Would take a flight back to Minnesota just to enjoy this meal all over again. And would want to sit in Jodi’s section!

OMG I'm in BBQ heaven and this is Minnesota! I was blown away when we drove up and I saw the size of the place and then couldn't believe my eyes when we walked past the BBQ pits, freaking huge. The interior makes you feel like your standing somewhere in Texas with an equally big outside area. It was a Friday night and the place was rocking the hostess told us 1.5 hours and we were happy to wait since they have a big bar and lots of craft beers on tap as well as a good variety craft cocktails. As we walked to the bar 4 people got up and we snagged so seats at the bar and were able to order dinner at the bar. Bonus! OK Let's talk food. It was off the hook. They have a huge variety of BBQ meats, sandwiches and with Tex Mex options. As soon as I sa the Fat Back Mac & Cheese I had to have it. It's chopped brisket, pulled pork and bacon to our House Made magic, then some bacon & a fried egg on top. The portion was more than I could eat and the flavor was perfect with juicy pulled pork & tender brisket. Can't wait to go back.

Google
For the longest time I have wished we had “Texas Style” BBQ up here, I’ve had Memphis Style, I’ve had St Louis style and KC, But there’s something about Texas style that I’ve been missing most of all. Big Bore Barbecue is Texas in Minnesota!!! Fantastic Phenomenal and Exactly what I was craving. Owen our server was right there when we were seated to get our drink order. Offered up a couple suggestions on appi’s, We knew what we wanted from looking at the online menu so we ordered everything right then, Pork-belly burnt ends for the appi, Brisket for her, Baby-backs for me. Fastest food delivery I’ve seen in a long time. Awesome! We will be back and We will be back with Friends.

The food is amazing! The burn ends with onion rings are super yummy I full recommended it. The service was fast. It can get very busy during the weekend.

Google
Some of the best BBQ I've had ever and certainly one of the best in Minnesota. Well worth the drive from the cities or a must stop in the Hanover area. Beautiful building and seating. Huge outdoor area with covered seating as well as a stage for live music. Make sure to walk over and check out the giant smokers they use. Seriously truck size and impressive for anyone remotely interested in smoking or cooking meats. Speaking of which its all sold Deli style. You pick your meats and pay by the 1/4, 1/2, full pound! Excellent idea that makes it easy to try everything. The sides are sold the same way in pint, quart ect sizes. We started with the burnt ends and portobello fries. Both were huge hits and the sauce with the fries was so good. The shredded pork was out of this world. The brisket was juicy and delicious. The ribs! You just grab a bone and pull it right out clean as can be. Mouth-watering good with big bottles of sauce if you want. Not needed at all but hey some people like more. Over all a 10/10 place with super fast service and a great atmosphere. Tons of parking and great for big family style meals.

Google
We were really excited to try Big Bore today based on referrals from friends and having heard great reviews. Seating and service were quick despite being pretty busy on a holiday. We ordered the Fat Back Mac & Cheese appetizer and 1/4 of each of the pulled chicken, brisket & pulled pork. The mac & cheese was good, as was the pulled pork. The pulled chicken was bland (albeit juicy) and the brisket was dry, chewy and well, I hate to say it... awful. We left pretty disappointed. If we'd return we'd likely stick with the Mac or other items rather than the straight meats that we usually prefer. We're also not the types to drown things in BBQ sauce. The BBQ should speak for itself.

Yelp
Great beer, great bbq We got the candy bacon, queso and fries with more queso. It was a delicious. For dessert the chocolate lava like cake is a must have... with ice cream. Service was awesome, great suggestions. Definitely a must visit!

Yelp
First time eating here so I got the BBQ Sunday. The beans, and rib were good. The Mac and cheese was not what I expected. It tasted like it came from a box. Not cheesy enough, it tasted more like a thickener of flour and milk. The shredded pork was okay kinda bland and too wet for me. The one rib was good. My husband ordered the Texas dip sandwich. The au jus was so salty that he couldn't eat. The rest of the sandwich was good. He also ordered a side of potato salad which has no frills, tastes just like Reese potato salad that you get from the grocery store. We were very disappointed for the price you pay. We will never go back. Sorry no pictures.

Yelp
The interior was rustic and roomy. There was a fire going on outside in a fire pit. That added to the overall cold, Minnesota country vibe. I loved the bbq ribs. There was a nice crunchy exterior when I bit into the juicy ribs that gave it interesting texture. The beef brisket was on the dry side. The exterior could use more crunch and maybe coat it in peppercorn. They offered 3 different kinds of BBQ sauce. I mixed the first and second one for a perfect balance of sweet, tangy and spicy. Service was excellent. The bread the meal came with looked plain but was soft, buttery and thick, which I loved. The coleslaw was overdressed in my opinion. The sweet potato fries were good. Overall, I loved the ambiance, service and it was decently good BBQ for the area.

Yelp
I had some awesome leftover brisket from this place and had to come see for myself. It was pretty busy so we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated which is a good sign. It's a pretty spacious place with lots of TVs. We ordered the ribs, baked beans and pork belly burnt ends. Overall really solid bbq because everything was on point.

Yelp
Love this place! Probably the best BBQ food I've ever had. Personally I gravitate towards their Tex-Mex offerings, with my favorite being their Meat and Mac burrito. The service is always friendly and efficient, although since they don't take reservations it can sometimes be a very long wait for a table. Their interior ambience is nice, feels a little bit like a Famous Dave's but better. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for some small town vibes with excellent flavor!
google avatar

Yelp
Bbq is suppose to have nice spice rubs. But they overdo it. I think someone made a mistake on mixing together the rub. Did take out with 3 kinds of meat, some beans and Cole slaw. North of $100 . Got home and tried the ribs first. My mouth stung from the heat. The brisket wasn't much better.

Yelp
Third try attempting to eat at this place. Usually pretty busy. Same as tonight. But not bad. We had about a 20 minute wait. Quite loud, so if you are looking to have conversations, it could be a chore. Service was decent. Friendly waitress, but the rest of the staff was kind of blah. But, that's not the end of the world, they have a job to do. While others in the party liked their food, I found the food to be not that great. The portobello fries were ok. The coleslaw was mediocre - no special flavor, tasted like a basic premixed slaw. The ribs were dry and looked and tasted like they were day old. Tried some of the other meats from the others' dishes in the party, they were nothing spectacular. Not much flavor. It seemed like all the flavor was coming from the toppings and sauce. Pretty ok beer offering, wines, and cocktails. The parking lot is gravel/mud. Had high expectations for the place as it's been highly recommended, but it didn't hit the mark.

Yelp
Some of the best bbq in Minnesota hands down!! Atmosphere is great, Texas style bbq is spot on! Large portions and everything is fresh! Service is always great!! When you pull into the parking lot the smell will make you drool! A must stop and eat place!

Yelp
Nice BBQ joint with great food. A bit far if you're not local to Hanover, but worth the drive. Their pork belly burnt ends are incredibly juicy, flavorful, and tender. It's like grown-ups candy! Balance things out with some roasted Brussels sprouts and you get your veggies in. Nicely cooked, well seasoned, with a slight char to enhance the seasoning. The pulled pork is tender and juicy; however, the ribs could be a little more tender -- not quite fall-of-the-bone tender. Service is great with friendly staff, but wait times can be a bit long if they're busy -- there's plenty of seating both inside and outside at their patio, so it can affect service speed and bit. Please visit their socials before driving there, especially in the summertime, as they often hold events during weekdays that PACK the place. Overall a nice alternative, with a nice rustic feel, with tasty smoked meats, and reasonable prices.

Yelp
Our food was wonderful. The staff were very nice and helpful. We will return soon. Yummo !

Yelp
Drive out west for some delicious barbecue! It's a super popular place so prepare to wait, though we got in sooner than they quoted. It's worth the wait! We had a super sweet waitress (Jody?) who carded me for my beer! My photos turned out kind of dark, but it was light enough to see my food. Country music played in the background. We shared brisket with a pint of beans and a pulled pork sandwich add a small side of sweet potato fries and their spicy sour cream. Finished it off with a perfect summer beer Shiner lemon! Great compliment to all the tasty meat! We tried all the sauces and liked the middle of the road thicker one the best, the heat of the hot one was just right and lastly the vinegar style liquid one last because I don't love that style but all of the flavors were superb! Grandma's baked beans were the crowd favorite with the pulled pork sandwich which I'd go back for! Go get some smoked meats!

Yelp
I always have a good experience at big boar. Good barbecue and I really enjoy the Cuban sandwich.

Yelp
A delicious and fun spot, not too far from Plymouth/Minnetonka! The ambiance is very Texas Southern with a woody interior covered in signs and buckets on the table with utensils. Service was fast and the waitress was kind and attentive! We started with the nachos and they were a delicious way to start the night. We ordered them with brisket and I couldn't stop chowing down on the delicious smoked meat. Definitely recommend this to start with. For dinner I ordered the tacos, and I was not thrilled. They were incredibly dry and salty - from what I've heard from friends I just ordered the wrong thing off the menu. However, the portion is HUGE - these are not street sized tacos, I had lots of leftovers. Good news is, I saved the filling for leftovers and it was great the next day when made into a new meal. I also tried my boyfriend's mac and cheese side and it was delicious! Again, reaffirming my thought that I just ordered the wrong thing. I will definitely be back to try this again!

Yelp
They do really good bbq. Of all the times we've eaten here there has only been one time where there was a mishap (the kitchen lost the order and our server didn't want to bug them because they were busy. Two hours went by without food arriving.) and the management made it right. This was a one-off so it was forgiven after a while. The place is well put together inside and out. Don't expect high end settings as it's BBQ. But it's clean, well kept and the food is so good!

Olivia Y.

Yelp
Super quick & friendly service! The food is super tasty, and very classic bbq restaurant. Sides are all à la carte, which is nice for sharing!

Yelp
People in the Wright County area have been raving about Big Bore Barbecue for the longest time and tonight was the night to finally pull the trigger and try this place. We pulled up and the parking lot was filled with cars.Walked in and was greeted by a couple friendly smiles. The joint wasn't as packed as the parking lot. We were seated right away and knew we wanted to start with the burnt ends and pork belly ends. The pork belly ends were my favorite. My crew liked the burnt ends as they don't appreciate the flavor fat brings to certain cuts of meat.Big Bore had some sauces on the table we tried and they had flavor! I ordered the slab of ribs...the house beans and Mac and cheese.Typical barbecue fare!.My wife had the pulled chicken, my daughter the Buffalo chicken wrap and her boyfriend had the brisket sandwich. Our food came out rather quick.Within 10 minutes of ordering. This is why they lost a couple stars. The food was not hot.Cold onion rings doesn't have a good flavor. My ribs were fall of the bone and the beans were so tasty. My crew all enjoyed their meals. The Mac and cheese could have been better...lacked a little flavor. From the smiles to the smell of smoked foods. The atmosphere here is family friendly...love to see barbecue sauce all over the face of little ones, friends and family.Ill be back to check them out again and hope that the food will be more up to temp.Way better than Famous Dave's!

Yelp
The food here is second to none. Be prepared to wait hours; yes, that says hours. But, worth it. Service is pretty consistent at good, not great... But then, when you're crazy busy all the time, I can't fault anyone for wait times or hurried interactions. They are expanding outside and I can't wait. Do yourself a favor and buy their sauces for home. Best I have ever had!

Yelp
I came to visit my BFF in St. Cloud, and we wanted good BBQ, so she found this place and we decided to give it a whirl. I got the garden salad with pulled pork, and it was very good. I got a side of ranch and YUM. My friend got the cubano sandwich and she enjoyed it as well. The only bummer are the sides come a la carte, so you're paying separately if you want fries or beans or whatever. However, the salad comes with fries. So yay! Our waitress was really nice and attentive too. I wish I knew her name. So yeah, good experience here! They're the real deal.
google avatar

Joe Y.

Yelp
This is my go to for BBQ! I attempted to order carry out online, but it closed at 4:27 instead of the posted 4:45 on the website. But that was okay, since you can just drive up and they will take your carry out order from the parking lot (even when 5 degrees outside). 10-15 minutes later, I was on my home. This trip, I had the sliced brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, Mac & cheese, beans, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was sooooo good. The ribs had just the right amount of spice, the brisket was tender, and the pulled pork was demolished by my family before I could try it...so it must have been good.
google avatar

Yelp
HOLY YUM!! I don't think there's anything I might not like at this place! Upon arrival there was a wait, which is expected since this place is always busy. There's definitely a reason Everything we tried was memorable! From their brisket burnt ends to their Mac and cheese I'm already dreaming of when I can come back! Service was fast, too, for how busy it was! Loud and packed, but that's to be expected as well. Ready to try more of their menu!

Yelp
The night started off terrible. We had to wait 15 of the 35 minute expected wait time. It proceeded to continue to spiral down hill afterwards. The waiter immediately came to our table. She then had our appetizer to us in like 5 minutes. To top all that off, the food was too big, the kitchen speed too fast, and lord knows I hated the 4 dollar Big Bore tap. Can't believe someone would complain about that? Neither can I. That's why there's 5 stars on this review. Honestly though the place was absolutely packed. I imagined we were in a slower than normal pace given how busy it is. But credit where credit is due, the staff at this establishment are friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. I don't think I've ever seen a more well oiled machine, from the kitchen to the host. As far as food goes, rarely would I ever be thrilled about paying 20 bucks for a burrito, but their meat cheese burrito was delicious. So good, the only other place I could compare it to in the Twin Cities is Andale Taqueria, except, this burrito I couldn't finish. Just the right amount of heat to let you know it's there, and the combination of mac and cheese with some amazing pulled pork is unforgettable. Well done Big Bore, well done.

John E.

Yelp
The food is amazing, custom bbq sauce, tender well seasoned meat. Service is very good i've been here 10+ times and they have always been friendly. Great American Bar Scene describes this place.

Yelp
The food at big bore is straight up awesome. We have been coming here since it opened about 4 years ago. The BBQ skews a bit too sweet but not too much. It's that balance that is the magic. Have anything I have worked my way through the menu. Best brisket, and pork belly... we love the cheese curds and the bacon cluster was a treat! Yum... worth a drive!
google avatar

Luke G.

Yelp
I heard about this place for a long time! I didn't know what to expect because it's in a small town. We were surprised when we pulled up and saw how big it is! The smoke pit is out front and is really impressive! Everything is smoked Texas style: smoke from real slow burnt wood. The ribs were the best thing we had! Great crust and it fell Off the bone! The brisket was a little Dry. I was a little disappointed. The Mac n cheese was the best I've ever had at a bbq joint. The pasta was ACTUALLY cooked Al dente (slightly firm). Usually Mac n cheese is mushy and soggy; not this place!

Savvy P.

Yelp
Great place! Fantastic food. They don't take reservations so we got there at 4:30pm on a Saturday. We were told it was an hour wait. While waiting some friends were leaving and we chatted about what time they got there and they were there at 3:30pm and had a 40 minute wait. By the time we were able to be seated at 5:35pm, the wait for those walking in was 2 hours. They came to get our drink orders in 5-7 minutes and we ordered drinks and food at that time. Drinks came quickly, all food was served within 15 minutes. The food was excellent! Fantastic flavor and portions were generous. I highly recommend. I would for sure be ready to have a wait on a Saturday.
google avatar

Cale S.

Yelp
Typically, the food is extremely awesome but I think because it was a slow night, the food was under a slow warmer. The food came out in like five minutes when it typically takes like 25 minutes, so it was a little bit on the colder side, but the taste was still pretty solid. 4/5
google avatar

Troy I.

Yelp
Great BBQ environment. Roadhouse like. Great service, great food and excellent drinks. First time there. Service was awesome! Very good food options. Plan to wait for a table , like any good restaurant.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
Jodi our fantastic professional server, suggested for our first time to get a lb of each of the meats to see what we liked best. Pulled pork was our favorite, pulled chicken and brisket was also good. We had Mac and cheese for the side (happy the pasta was cooked al dente), and burnt brisket ends. Deliciousness. The best was the ribs. I could eat that at every meal. Atmosphere was a little noisy, but that's because EVERYONE was there for the food
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
The food is excellent!! The meat is soo tender and juicy! We went on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty busy inside so we opted for the patio. The patio is HUGE and even has some cornhole sets to play! The patio also has umbrellas over the tables so you don't get too hot. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and it was good! I added the second hottest bbq and it wasn't hot at all. They have 3 different levels there and you can try them all. We got Mac and cheese to share and it was definitely my favorite part! We ordered the largest size to share with four people and it was more than plenty. However, I was happy to take the rest home! The brisket is also plenty of food and very very tender. We got the half pound and it felt like nearly a pound! Staff was friendly.

Mary Anne D.

Yelp
Great service, quick food. I would give the BBQ an 8 out of 10. The atmosphere was also good
google avatar

Chelsea R.

Yelp
A barbecue joint in the middle of a small town with flavorful smoked meats and delectable sauces. Whether you are from Minnesota or visiting this is 100% worth the trip out to Hanover. We decided to create our own platter and ordered the following: cup of beans, pint Mac, 1/2 pulled pork, 1/2 brisket and 1/4 ribs. Everything and I mean everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. The meats were juicy and had just the right amount of smoke to them. The platter also came with two Honkin pieces of Texas toast which was the ultimate bean and pork sandwich holder! For two people, this was more than enough food. Service was quick and the joint was clean and rustic BBQ all at the same time! It doesn't appear to be dog friendly, but has plenty for families to do like corn hole while you wait for your food to be ready.

Angie M.

Yelp
The Mac and cheese, OMG! But the appetizer with bacon, brisket, pork, and an egg on top! ‍ . Service is spot on. It is always busy, worth the wait. Very loud inside with the raised ceilings and music. So if you're sitting with a big group, it could be hard to hear conversations.

Yelp
Food off chart's ridiculous so damn good price I would say to inexpensive I no right highly recommend this place hands down

Austin P.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place 6 stars. This is my favorite restaurant in the state. Amazing food and atmosphere. Only downside is no reservations and long wait times. Need to get there early. Would eat here every day if possible.
google avatar

Kaselia L.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. Good price for the amount of food you get. My favorite are the brisket, ribs, & Mack and cheese. Also the chicken wings here are really good! I once asked if they had a root beer float and it wasn't on the menu but they accommodated me and made me one, will keep coming to my local bbq joint.

Yelp
I almost rated a 4 star because of the sides, however, the meat taste and quality overpower everything else and I couldn't rate any lower than a 5. MEAT: We would 100% drive the 30 minutes to come here again. We did "Build Our Own Platter" 1lb of Ribs, 1lb Pulled Pork, ¼ Brisket.. all amazing. The meat was flavorful and juicy. ZERO complaints. We had pulled pork and ribs leftover and fond that they reheated well. We are very picky when it comes to BBQ because we find that we smoke and cook better than most restaurants. We've been searching for a place to come to when we don't want to do the work ourselves and this is it! SAUCES: The Sweet sauce reminds me of Big John's Ol' West BBQ & Dippin Sauce. I loved it. County Road 19 sauce was a sweeter BBQ sauce, it seems right in the middle of the sweet and heat sauces. The Hanover Heat wasn't as hot as I thought it would be but it still has kick. The dry rub had my nostrils running a little but I'm a baby with any spice, my husband didn't get bothered by the heat. SIDES: The coleslaw is mayonnaise based and on the sweeter side. Unfortunately, I didn't find a lot of flavor in it. It was good, just a bit boring for me. The fries were a disappointment. Tasted like cheap freezer fries. They were skinny wedges so you get a lot of the exterior and very little in the middle and about half were overcooked. Boring and bland, waste of our money. I should've asked for a replacement of something else. The beans were great. We assume they use leftover pulled pork as their meat addition. We would definitely order them again. The side salad was made of crispy, quality greens and toppings. I didn't like that it came on a serving platter but that's my preference, I like my salads in bowls. BATHROOMS: 'Oof da' only one stall for each gender... unless I missed more somewhere, that's rough especially during peak times. SERVICE and ATMOSPHERE: Our server was really nice. She misplaced an item from someone else's bill on ours but other than that she was very attentive. The atmosphere was welcoming and fun. Many TV's and the music choice was spot on. It was a good range.. I heard some Dwight Yoakam and CCR in there.

Yelp
My wife and I were on our way back from Alexandria, MN and my friend recommended Big Bore. This place is pretty big! I have been to about 10 Texas BBQ places and this place fits right in! I am sure the owner went to Texas and saw how they do it and brought it to Minnesota. They even have Shine Bock! Not my favorite beer, but a Texas BBQ staple. I ordered a a Big Bore Brew, which is made by Shiner Bock. It isn't bad, but about 1/2 price of the other beers. I ordered 1/2 pound of smoked pork and the brisket burnt ends. The pork was succulent and the hot BBQ sauce wasn't too hot, but it was pretty good. The burnt ends were like meat candy and the sauce was sweet, but not overly so. The fried crispy onions were a nice touch for the base. You have to get the burnt ends. Servers were absolutely awesome and it was a great lunch!

Yelp
Some top notch barbecue like no other with craft beers, and custom barbecue sauces. Be sure to make a reservation or else you might be waiting a half hour, which isn't bad to me.

Yelp
I ordered online quarter of baby back ribs. It was ready for me and I said in my car the minute they saw me showing up the young lady came to ask me my name went back in came back gave you my food and I told is my first time she told me her favorite is mac & cheese I told her it's usually my least favorite but next time I will try it. This baby rib was the Smokies thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. It's not a smoked as eating a log in the furnace but it's definitely super smoked. This is the second time I've come to this place before noon and the parking lot is overflowed. Easy location huge parking I did now go inside but definitely everybody going in and out was smiling and happy. I know many people who came here and they told me about this place. It was worth the drive for me. Plenty of parks within a mile or so from the place so you can take your food and eat there.

Holly B.

Yelp
It was fabulous 3 outta the 7 times, but the food a couple times, not as good. Also felt like they were way overcrowding the tables and bar area, just constant bumping into people and the servers. Meh, we'll go again but it's best during their off times. The bloody Mary's and cheese curds are to die for.

Crystal C.

Yelp
Best BBQ I've had in MN. Pork ends- good. The star for me was the fried onions underneath. And I HATE onions. Like I will refuse to eat things that accidentally have onions on them because I hate the flavor even after I take them off. Mac and cheese- amazing Beans- my husband says they are great. I like the flavor but have an overall texture problem with beans. Pulled pork - yes, so good Ribs- yup. Delicious Pickles- house made. Yes. Hottest sauce - delicious and not too spicy (I could've used more heat) Other two sauces good. Please add cornbread with honey butter to your menu!

Yelp
The food with good, but the service need some work. We had to refill our own water and didn't get a beverage that we ordered. The detail said that the pork belly is flash fried, so I was thinking it should be crispy but it wasn't.

Yelp
We've been regular takeout customers of Big Bore for a while and finally decided to eat onsite for once. Y'all...the food is amazing! Some of the best BBQ in the area. Perfect smoke on all of the meats and they do not skimp on portions of entrees. Al of their food has the perfect amount of flavor and just a little bit of spice that you can town down or take up a notch depending on your choice of BBQ sauce that are homemade. If I had to choose one meat, I'd go for the ribs. My kids would choose pulled pork and husband goes for brisket. Luckily we all left satisfied! When it comes to sides, it is hard to choose. Mac and cheese is delicious, baked beans comes with meat included and we love the Brussels sprouts and fries. I think the biggest problem you'll have here is limiting yourself in what to try and how to not leave thoroughly stuffed. They don't do reservations and this place is in demand so plan on a wait if you go after 5:30 ish or on the weekends and plan to eat there rather than takeaway. Takeaway is always an option and they fill orders fast so don't let the crowd deter you from enjoying the deliciousness that is Big Bore. You can kill some time watching the pit masters do their thing out front. Big Bore is a go to in our house now and worth the drive!

Yelp
Took the family here for Father's Day. I had heard a lot of good things about big bore and had a good idea of what I wanted to try. The menu is a la cart which is a little tough when you can't agree on sides with your family. I would have appreciated a combo option for this reason. We started off with the cheese curds- delicious! You could tell these were handmade. We ended up trying the ribs which I thought were smokey and complex, but my mom found the rub too spicy for her. As someone who likes spice, I would say the ribs are definitely a strong medium kick and can be taken up or down with their BBQ sauce options. The Mac n cheese was the star of our table! I wish we would have ordered more- seriously don't miss it! Their fries were also unique and delicious. Great pork as well. Would love to try the brisket next time. Unfortunately this great experience was ruined by the fact that the restaurant was 85 degrees! It was a hot day but this place doesn't have AC or fans and they thought opening the back doors and letting in humid 90 degree air was a better choice. We were so uncomfortable trying to enjoy our food and you could hear everyone around us complaining about it.

Yelp
This place beats many of the places I have tried in Texas! Some of the best barbecue I have ever had! Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We rode there on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. When we arrived the place was 90% empty. We grabbed a drink and then went to sit outside. We sat down at a picnic table just outside the doors. A waitress asked us if we wanted menus and I said we were good with our drinks. She then said if we were not going to eat, we could not sit there. Tables with Yellow Buckets are reserved for people eating. That sounded kind of stupid, but we gladly moved. Did I point out that the place was...90%....empty. So we moved to a different table in the main outside area. After about 5 minutes, another waitress came up and said if we weren't going to eat, we couldn't sit there either. There was a Metal Bucket on this table. Turns out if there is a bucket on the table, you have to eat to sit there.... WTF !?! So we had to move to yet ANOTHER table...in a restaurant that was 90% empty. I kidded if they move us again, we will be sitting in the woods. When you can easily move the bucket to any table when needed, I guess it is to much work for them, especially when all the staff is standing around doing nothing in a 90% empty place. The staff also seemed a bit aloof, and assy attitudes, I think management needs to read a book on modern restaurant management. To my fellow riders, There is always the River Inn, where they know how to treat people, Or....just ride on to one of the many other options in the area. So needless to say, they have lost our business.

Yelp
Big bore is a favorite for my husband and I. We haven't found many good BBQ spots in MN, but this one definitely doesn't disappoint. They have parking, but it's usually busy and there will probably be a wait time, depending on when you go. We started with the brisket burnt ends and they were really good. At the table, we ordered pork ribs that weren't too tender but fell off the bone and were cooked perfectly. We also ordered pulled pork and macaroni and cheese. I put 5 stars because it's the best bbq in MN that I've had - but compared to other cities known for bbq, it's still about a 4/4.5. Definitely worth the try!!

Yelp
Unbelievably good food! We made the trip with friends after they recommended it and we've been back several times since. A must try for barbecue and the best mac n cheese.
