Yelp
What a great lunch experience!
Since I was in the Sandy Springs area for the afternoon recently, I decided to enjoy a lunch out and set my sights on the nearest oyster happy hour deal and found Big B's Fish Joint! Located in a buzzing plaza, I'm so thankful to Yelp for guiding me here. I was on the lookout for a Happy Hour special that I could enjoy outdoors in the Georgia sun on the most perfect afternoon, ever - and I got just that!
Upon entry, Big B's is a gorgeous place. With high ceilings, beautiful art, and a bar setup that is a feast for the eyes - the aesthetics are truly on point here! But again, I came to enjoy the outdoors, and lucky for me, they have a beautiful patio set up with ample space, that looks out onto the plaza and back into the windows of the restaurant interior. Major relaxation vibes.
I was promptly seated and escorted outside, and I was ready to enjoy! I won't lie, I was pretty disappointed in the time it took to be greeted. I think I was sitting for almost 15 minutes before anyone came back over to say hello or offer a glass of water. As a former server and bartender, I know that things can be delayed and practice patience with all businesses... but it was a pretty empty restaurant and not even 5:30 pm so it was a surprise to me. BUT - when I was greeted, any minor concerns over delay were quickly gone as my server came over with a big smile and started me on the road to a great lunch.
I ordered my happy hour oysters and asked for a HH wine recommendation went with a Rose. I was quickly shown that the minor delay upon seating was just a hiccup because, wow, those oysters and wine came out SO quickly! The oysters were incredibly fresh and the presentation was incredible! I loved that the oysters were plump and not too briney, SUCH a deal. I also went with the Clam Chowder and I won't lie, not my fave at all but I'm also not a usual Clam Chowder girl so IDK who the hell I thought I was, lol. But now I've found a new spot to enjoy my beloved raw oysters and a delicious glass of wine in the OTP area!
