Big Bubba's Bad BBQ

I ordered the (apparently) famous trip tip. The trip tip was indeed very good to excellent and the pairing sauces were very good. Next time, I shall order the sandwich, as that sounds delicious also. I also ordered the chicken. That was cooked to perfection. I rates the service with just three stars because when I went to pick up my order, I went to the register and the lady receiving me did not smile and seemed confused with my request for pick up. Then she sent me to the pick up area, all without any amount of friendliness. This, only somewhat #recommended #bechego

We were excited to try this place based on the high reviews. We have tried barbecue all over the country and we were disappointed here. First off, the smoke flavor is not natural, they use liquid smoke and I have a sensitivity to it. So I ordered the cobb salad. It came with chicken and bacon which was my fault.The bacon was very good while the few pieces of chicken I had were dry. The large tomatoes on top were a turn off because they have diced tomatoes underneath. There was nothing special about the salad. My husband had a tri tip sandwich that he said was good but nothing special as well. The fries had no flavor to them either. The restaurant was fun, we sat in a jail cell.

Best spot for bbq and a margarita in North County and my kid loves it too which is a bonus. My only gripe is that there is no kids specific menu - there are some sides - but the portions are definitely satisfying and enough to share with the kids without being huge. Fast service and great food. I recommend the brisket pizza, pulled pork and the garlic fries. For the adults you have to try the frozen "Love" drink which is a mixture of tangy citrus and sour apple daiquiri.

We had the smoked chicken, brisket, cheeseburger, and pork belly salad. They were all terrible and looked and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for days. The chicken was very dry. The brisket didn’t really look like brisket. Very bland. The pork belly salad was a ton of lettuce with barely any meat. The meat was great and dry and I could barely chew it. We are SO disappointed especially for the price!!!! The inside is cool and definitely good for kids but the food was so awful I couldn’t believe it.

Big Bubba's 'Bad' BBQ certainly lives up to its name—but not in the way they intend. Per notice, the owner displays her combative attitude in response to the numerous reviews sharing experience of well her being combative! ​The worst part of the experience was the owner. The brisket we ordered was literally so dry we gagged and choked on it. It was also a strange, pale white color. ​When I tried to explain this, the owner rushed over—not to help, but to be argumentative. She essentially tried to authoritatively lecture me, claiming that brisket is supposed to be that way. When I pressed the issue because I wasn't being heard, she just gave me a fake smile and made a noise as if she was dismissing me. It was incredibly condescending. On top of that, the macaroni salad was not fresh at all. ​It is a real shame because her son, who took our order, was quite nice and helpful. The tri-tip was actually tasty and interesting, served in slices the size of bacon. But a polite son and decent tri-tip can't make up for an owner who serves inedible food and treats customers with such disrespect.

I can’t rate the food. I can’t rate the service and really can’t rate the atmosphere because I WAS DENIED SERVICE. Why…. I have a service dog. I went early (about 4:30pm) with a guest. Upon entering, I was ignored by a server while the cashier stared at my dog with a disgusted look on her face. I tried to order…. She didn’t take my order opting to tell me to take a paper menu and go to a table. I had a polite conversation with a lady feeding her baby. After 20 minutes, we walked toward the counter only to witness the wait staff cracking jokes. We were the only customers in the restaurant so I can only interpret their actions as refusing to serve us. I am a disabled veteran. What a shame.

We were in town and this restaurant had previously been recommended. The lady taking our order was very nice and helpful, and our food came out extremely quickly. For how quick it was it may have been the best ribs i have ever had. The Mac and Cheese was easily top 5 ever as well, which was a big surprise. This place made we wish I had one of these at home, in fact, i have been having dreams about the ribs.... and I have begun regretting not ordering an extra order to go of food. As i write this review i want to eat some. Also, there was a family in there and they were having a lot of fun with the games, an old school electronic fortune teller mining looking guy, and the jail cells around a couple tables.

Very bad experience we spent $145.25 to get a hair in are food and for the cashier person to argue with me and try to say that it was my daughter's hair When my daughter's hair is blonde and the hair was black and my husband bit into the rib , pulled off the meat and there was a hair hanging off and I went to have them make it right but they just wanted to blame my daughter and not let me explain what happened and her attitude was not needed I even told her look im just trying to tell u on how it came out but no she was cutting me off

Well I dropped a group at the amphitheater to see Chicago, looked sold out to me. I'll park off property and get some dinner. I've been by Bad Bubbas and tonight it's Yelp night. I parked out front on the street, my sprinter is long so... It looked like the dinner rush had settled down, good. Wow the menu is pretty good quite a few choices, combo's, and ala carte'. My first impression was this is not cheep bbq. Now I get it, food costs have sky rocketed especially after you add labor and overhead to the meal. I shop baby back ribs and they run about 7 bucks a pound. I'll wait till they go down as a loss leader and stock my freezer. I say this because it was $20 for four bb rib bones, or $5 a bone Ah...at my rib restaurant in Irvine CA in 1982 sold bb ribs at a 12 bone rack dinner for $10. Now they slow smoke bbq here and thats the real deal BBQ. So if thats your thing this the place for dinner. I ordered the Cobb Salad at $20, smoked chicken and a good portion of bacon. They served my salad in a tin pie pan, probably 8" and certainly not heaping high either. A shallow presentation is skimpy on the greens, Okay. The taste was great and every thing salad wise was real fresh the chunks of chicken small but served hot. The quality is certainly here and I enjoyed my salad but it wasn't a meal for me. The service was order, pay, and pick up and quite friendly...I'm not sure if I'll be back, I just don't see the value for the authentic bbq taste at big city prices. Thanks Bubba foodguy-martin

Not good too much mayo better food at Taco Bell The decor is pretty but the food needs a lot of help

I have had hesitation about going to Bubba's, because of their recent reviews and average rating. But I wanted BBQ, and I wanted it now. The gf and I had easy parking in the rear parking lot, and stepped in. Very cute! Themed, on a ranch (or prison!), I found it clean and cute...and smelled great. Yes, sandwiches are a bit pricey (~$19), but they have plates, salads, and my recommendation, get meat by the pound with a couple of sides. I had the Pulled Pork, and it was smokey and tender, with delicious slaw on a fresh bun. Really liked it. The gf got the sexy turkey leg, and sent it back -- very dry and all she could taste was smoke (I agreed). She got a brisket plate instead, and loved it (I also agreed). They earn my vote. Not a cool place, but very good for groups or families.

Big enough parking lot to accommodate those in our car club headed to the coast. Nice staff. You order at the counter and find your own table. Rustic decor. Lots of seating. Our food didn't take long to be ready for pick up. Really good pork ribs and I loved their BBQ sauces.

What a waste of time and money. The good was absolutely terrible. It was obvious just looking at the food they cooked us. The smash burger should have been called The Hit by a truck burger. The order of onion rings should have been called the Onion Rings called The No More Than Four Rings. That's how many I got. Another person ordered the TriTip. He reported it to be dry and not very good. His onion rings order was also 4. My other friend had chicken. I found It in the back of my refrigerator the next day uneaten . Need I say I won't be back,?

Food, service and ambiance were great! We travel past Paso often and we've been here many times. The food and service never disappoints. We came by today and liked the new look and process. No waiters/waitress, order your food, sit wherever and full bar. I had two margaritas today made with Patron and the Latina who made it was pleasant and very professional.

Stopped there after going to cowgirl across the street. I doubt this place will be open next year at this time unfortunately. Asked the older lady at the counter if there is a beef rib plate , she pointed , said no while she was walking away.i asked my husband what did she say..$30 for ALA CART 1 beef rib and air.. If we would have added a drink and sides for both our lunch it would have been over $100 for 1 beef rib each, a small side and drink. What happened to Babas? We tell our kids there's a fine line between greed and being blessed. This place is now only greed.

Really good dining experience. The jail cells are a fun way to have dinner. My kids got a kick out of being "locked up." The food was good, but the prices are high. The location internally is on good condition, but the bridge is in need of repairs.

You asked for a mediocre review, Bubba's Smokehouse in Paso Robles is... fine. If you're in the mood for barbecue and you're in the area, it's an option. The pulled pork was reasonably tender, and the brisket wasn't offensively dry, though it also didn't exactly melt in your mouth. Their sauces are there, doing what sauces do, adding a bit of flavor if you're so inclined. The sides - mac and cheese, coleslaw - were pretty standard. Nothing to write home about, but they filled a space on the plate. Service was efficient enough, got our food without too much fuss. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a casual barbecue joint. It's not going to blow your mind, but it'll probably satisfy a basic craving for smoked meat without any real surprises, good or bad. It's just Bubba's.

$30 for Ala cart for 1 beef rib? holy smokes! an older lady at the counter needed a Pepsi and a break is all we could think of , we had asked if they had a beef rib lunch , she pointed and walked away. only Ala cart for beef ribs unless you want to add sides . 1 beef rib with nothing but air $30. we left quietly since she walked away . what happened to that restaurant?

Food was half decent at the very least but still not that good needed to be more tender and seasoned better. The service is terrible with some snooty passive aggressive lady that kept being rude for the entire time we were there and I ordered the Tri-tip sandwich because she said they only had enough tri-tip for one sandwich since they were "really busy" (nobody was in there) on the menu it said that it came with dill pickles (I received none) when I went up to the counter to ask for the pickles a gentleman was helping me just for her to step in and say pickles are .75 cents when I pointed out that on the menu it says that it came with pickles she said that it was a typo but how do you add dill pickles to a menu item as a typo I just walked away after that until some gentleman came with a cup of pickles free of charge since he probably knew that you can't really have dill pickles be a typo. The ambiance inside was decent the flowing water was a nice touch but the drinks were right next to the women's bathrooms and it smelled like sewer my mother couldn't even use the bathroom due to the smell being so wretched.

Spent $70 for two people which is pretty accurate for this area.... BUT they have no servers, no one greeting you and telling you that you have to order your food and then they call your name to get it. The food was barely warm and I picked it up not even 1 minute after they called out my name. This place has gone downhill so bad!! If you go in during the evening make sure you wear a sweater it was freezing in there and your food comes on metal trays!

Short version Assistance - Balance --- Cleanliness - Deliciousness - Environment + Full review This restaurant was once a true icon in the Paso Robles area, it is now a ghost of its former self since changing hands. Assistance - You order pick up and serve yourself like a very poorly designed cafeteria, the woman I encountered during my visit was snide, condescending, and ignored our order then argued it was what we ordered. Not hard to order a pulled pork no slaw and a side of Mac... Balance --- The quality of food is poor + small in quantity / high price. Cleanliness - Unsure if when it was last swept out, visible dust crumbs and dirt in corners, tables were covered in dried stuck in food, drink machine has heavy smell of mildew/algae/mold not sure which but it's an unmistakable stank. Deliciousness - I've been coming to this restaurant since it's creation, only recently having not been there and now everything has changed 100% it tastes bland, yet spicy, and flavorless, the tritip is some other similar and tough cut, it is not a tritip. The pulled pork is 90% tomato sauce with a metallic canned flavor, IDK what happened here but it's sad! Environment + It's still the nostalgic old West fort style building, no servers or busser, no dances, no fun music and happy times, just a big open shack with sad cafeteria food. Summary: This once great restaurant has been bought by someone and corrupted, strangled, insanguinated, by someone who clearly has no idea how to run a business. Sad fact of the area is people came in and invested in these places during the pandemic, with zero regard to what the place was, like some sick slumlord getting out everything in the area. Truly a sad day... Bubbas is no more.

Disappointment! We used to eat there once a week and loved it! Today was horrible :/ Their food has gone down hill. A bbq place that can't make decent beans and 4$ for a small soda . Will not be going back EVER!!!

My family of 7 chose this restaurant after a long morning hike-- we were all hungry. Food was delicious. Unfortunately the whole experience was tainted by a $32.27 (+tax) SERVICE CHARGE added to our bill. We ordered at a counter (no wait staff), and picked up our own food at the "pick up" counter. THERE WAS NO SERVICE. When the woman at the register was questioned, she said "oh, that's just what we charge when the bill is more than $140." So-- if our party had split up and ordered two different orders, we would have avoided $35+ dollar fee. TERRIBLE SERVICE. Also-- the restaurant was EMPTY. This wasn't a case of them being crowded and accommodating a large party. What a terrible way to ruin an otherwise good meal.

I'm of the impression that this place HAD its glory days. We came here because it was within walking distance from our hotel, which isn't the best reason/recommendation. There's a lot of fast food places (and a Denny's, for what it's worth) nearby. I had a friend at work whose husband liked it, and I knew where it was located. That's it. My next question is WHEN did they visit this place? I did remember on previous trip to Paso Robles, that we almost visited this place, but, it was busy, and we didn't have time to wait, so we got on the road and went elsewhere. That was then. That sounds like something we would do. This time, the parking lot looked empty. It's around 4:30 pm on a Saturday, December 28th. Interior-wise, the place reminded me of Armadillo Willy's, or a Famous Dave's, up north. We did have someone promptly take our order and print the bill. Food and Beverages-Pork Spare Ribs ($23.49, including the 2.50 upcharge for Mac and Cheese for the one side item), Central Coast BBQ Plate ($24.99, includes 1/2 Chicken, Tri-tip, Baked beans, two half slices of Texas toast and salad), 25 oz. Pacifico (10.49), Mind Haze IPA (8.50) and a 20 percent+ tip (15.00) that you have to automatically include on the payment BEFORE you know if the food is any good. I'm not found of that practice. So, as I'm signing the CC payment, the food is ready for pickup. No table service, plastic utensils, and you bus your table. There's a basic BBQ sauce on the table. I kind of assumed there would be more varieties of BBQ sauce over merely one type. Food- kind of dry. This is why it was ready before I finished signing the bill. The chicken was kind of dry. It needed the BBQ sauce. My husband's spare ribs looked okay, but, again, it needed the BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese? It was okay, but tasted like the predictable, pre-made, nuked in a bag, mac and cheese that we've had at other restaurants. The baked beans, not that exceptional. It was more like something I can open from a can at home. There wasn't anything impressive about the place or the food. It's probably good for someone with a less adventurous palate. It's on par with some catering service that would be used for a corporate event/lunch, wouldn't offend anyone, and met the required specifications of the client. I just thought it would be better. It was overpriced and mediocre. For the amount of money we paid, I would, at least, expect table service. We could do better at a Chili's restaurant. On the following day, I was informed of a better place in downtown Paso Robles. That's for next time. We had to get back on the road.

Food and service were not the best! It used to be great food and service. Got a turkey leg but it was actually sliced turkey breast. Food was not hot! Would definitely not recommend to anyone. Staff needs to get some customer service skills.

In Paso Robles for the Keith Urban concert last night.. Decided to eat at Big bubba's before the concert... My girlfriend and I decided to share an entree... We chose the brisket... It comes with one side but I added $2.50 for a " premium side" of onion rings.. The " premium side" of onion rings consisted of - no joke- SIX onion rings..that's it!!.. The entire brisket was six square pieces literally two and a half inches by 2 and 1/2 in, laid in a metal tin, playing, allowing you to choose your own barbecue sauce from the table ... This " MEAL" cost $25.54!!! By far one of the worst dinners I've ever had in a restaurant. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before my girlfriend and I went there... Huge mistake... I'm writing this so others won't give this extremely overpriced restaurant their hard earned money!

We hadn't been there for several years. But it was elegant evening in town last night so we didn't want to fight the crowd but not go all the way out of town so we ended up at Bubbas. I had the brisket sandwich which was very good. But it came with a small dish of corn. Which was meh. Very bland. I would have liked the potato chips they offer as a side instead. Not sure who came up with corn?? Not even on a cob. Just a strange choice. Anyway it was freezing outside & they had the a/c on. When we asked to turn it off ( blowing right on our table.) the waitress kinda snapped & seemed very annoyed. That cost her two stars.

First time here. The empty parking lot at dinner time was my first clue to being underwhelmed. Ordered a combo of brisket and pulled pork along with coleslaw and chili beans. Portions were large but unlike most BBQ place, you don't get a bread (corn bread, toast, etc.). I had to go back and order overpriced Texas toast. And when guests orders are ready, the staff announces their name and says, "Come get it." It's condescending. How about saying, "__________, Your order is ready." Or, "_______, Come on up and get your delicious meal." ? Attention to little details would make guests feel less like they are in a cafeteria. As for the food, the brisket was tender but salty. Pork was good, slaw was ok, beans were good. It wasn't anything to write home about. Atmosphere was charming. Overall, it was a decent meal but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. Looking at other reviews and the empty parking lot, I doubt this restaurant will be able to keep its doors open.

So i use to come here when this place first opened and let me tell you, what a difference. The burgers use to be juicy and I believe it was a half pound patty. They were thick and very delicious. I just came with my daughter and got one side and one jalapeño popper. It was over 50 dollars. Wtf. The burgers were flat and dried out . I could get better at McDonald's for God's sake. I picked up the food and asked for a tray. Nope no tray. How does a burger joint not have a milkshake . This place has totally changed and not good change. I will never come back here. Spend your money some where else.

No, no, no, no. What a shame and disappointment. So much has changed over the years and none of it for the better. Came here once during fair and the brisket sandwich was pretty good, so good in fact that I decided to bring my entire family here to celebrate a dual-birthday. What a mistake, I felt so embarrassed to have even suggested this place. First of all, we tried to sit in the jail cell but had too many people (had same amount during fair sitting in the jail cell area- but suppose they were too busy then to realize) and rudely got told to go sit elsewhere... okay, no big deal. Going up to order, this lady was so incredibly unfriendly and rude. They do not offer kids' meals here, so having to pay a hefty price for some chicken strips and fries for young kids was just plain whack. Everything is an upcharge, even if it's not stated, it is. Onion rings listed as a side, but be prepared, you will pay the price. Half of the orders of food were cold (ribs icy, chicken strips cold). One of the members in our party went to order a drink at the bar and waited 15 minutes before someone showed up to take the order. There is a better BBQ joint downtown charging the same kind of prices. Go there.

We loved coming here for years. But now no waiters/waitresses food was disgusting had burnt ends that had the weirdest texture, garlic fries with no garlic and a fried Twinkie. The bacon was raw on the Twinkie. Got a drink from the bar subpar. You have to bus your own tables. Step it up bubbas you used to be so good. Not really any appetizers.

OK, cute place. Nice decor and in these days of high prices at least the portions are reasonable. Brisket was good tender, 8 ounce portion with one side. The sides are mediocre but the brisket was good. The sausage platter was pretty basic sliced, smoked but not much flavor. Only one BBQ sauce on the table. I've eaten BBQ all over. Memphis, St Luis, Dallas etc. so I love good BBQ. I can see why only 3 stars it's just OK, not the worst but not even in contention for good BBQ.

Family friendly restaurant with good food! This is the place that will not disappoint. Located right off of the freeway! Easy to find! Fun decor! We came across this place as we were driving by and decided to give it a shot! I am so glad we did. Loved the decor and jail cells that have a table for 4 in each. There are 2. It's also fun for pictures. The service was great! The nice lady who took our order was helpful and very nice. Our food was ready quickly. The portions are generous. I ordered the pork ribs. They were tender and juicy. The meat came right off of the bone. Delicious! It came with their homemade chips. Yum! Their Mac N Cheese is so delicious and made with love. It's cheesy and full of flavor! This is my favorite mac n cheese. Give this cool and unique place a try with the family. You will love it!!

Got brisket Mac and cheese and pork belly burnt ends was really good. Service was nice and fast. Burger was average.

Haven't been in awhile and definitely won't be back. For 2 burgers, the smallest basket of fries I've ever seen and brisket Mac n cheese, it was $77. The burgers tasted like poorly done McDonald's and the Mac was chalky with no flavor despite there being seasoning on top. The brisket was tender but it was not tasty. Absolutely awful. I grew up going here, and it has gone down hill FAST. Not worth the money and I wish we could get our money back. There isn't service, order at the counter, which is fine. But you'd think because of this they'd pay more attention to the food.

Driving north from San Diego, driving up the iconic 101 we left San Luis Obispo and decided to eat in Paso Robles since we had never been there. Typical BBQ menu but very expensive. $22 for a brisket sandwich. We got 2 double "smash" burgers on a "buttered" brioche bun $13 each. We decided to share a basket of fries for a whooping $9.99, figuring for that high dollar price there would be plenty for two people to share. Once we found a table, ironically right behind us they were doing studio shots of perfect dishes that looked amazing, delicious, and generous, so I was expecting the high dollar meal to be exceptional. What was plopped down, with no semblance of hospitality etiquette, was a small bun completely soaked with grease, as was the flimsy paper holding it. The bread was wet with grease, especially the bottom, and couldn't be picked up. A leaf of lettuce twice the size of the bun hung out all around. The entire greasy mess had been smashed down, bun and all to an unappetizing, unattractive, and greasy puck. I returned to the counter with my basket, asking if they would use my burger for their photo op. The woman who was the manager, possibly the owner, agreed to do it over, a bit petulantly. She proclaimed "It's a smash burger." I would encourage her to do a bit of research on what exactly defines a REAL smash burger in the culinary world - it's actually a very particularly defined and prepared burger - this wasn't it. Oh, and the $10 fries were about the size of a single basket anywhere else that would have cost $5. When she came to bring the redo burger back, there was no smile or, "Hope this is better for you; y'all come back now ya hear!" Maybe she already figured we wouldn't. I left it on the table I took no photo out of pity for the poor burger that already looked ashamed to exist, leaking grease and regret into the red plastic basket. If you find yourself hungry in Paso Robles - ease on down the road. Giving Bubba's one star was me being exceptionally generous.

Well, I tend to try to find something nice to say about every place we eat, however this place made it hard...the only thing nice I can find is that they took so much time to decorate it they ran out of money to hire good help... The woman that took our order could have taken some etiquette lessons as she was so rude to everyone we were afraid to ask too many questions. I ordered a drink, instead of asking the size I wanted (20oz) she pretty much slammed a 32 oz cup on the counter...when I asked for my sandwich to be cut in half she huffed and acted like I was asking for a million dollar discount... The pulled pork sandwich was bland and full of fat, and the coleslaw on top was, um yeah... then to top it off there is a sign on the tables {Bus your own table} and I put my arm on the table as I was reaching for something and it stuck to the table....so as I have nothing else good to say I will just end my little slice of negativity...I'm sorry about this!!!!

I go here all the time with my toddler! It's a great place for lunch or dinner. I love everything on the menu but my favorite is the tritip sandwich with macaroni salad. My son can't get enough of the fresh chicken strips and Mac n cheese! The service is always friendly and fast. We also love the laidback family atmosphere.

I am very dissatisfied we are locals and they charged us 6.95 for a Texas Twinkie which is absurd to me I make them all the time was trying to order a nice dinner for my husband I'm not sure we will order again

I've tried Bubbas take-out a few times and the food was good. This past Tuesday the kids and I dined in for the first time. The service was great! All very friendly.. The food "Fire" as the kids say lol. Our orders came out hot and fresh everything was amazing. That's all the kids keep talking about. Especially my daughter she's a little Chicken Tender critic and says Canes could never beat bubbas for her. Little miss picky even loved the garlic fries. Very good environment will definitely be returning to dine in of course. I could only get a picture of the wings. Waaaa.

We stopped here for lunch on our way from Santa Cruz to SoCal. Other than being a little pricey, it was great. We got the Western Sausage sandwich and the Pulled Pork sandwich, both with Bubba's Beans on the side. The sandwiches were delicious. The beans were a little soupy for our taste. This seems like a cool place to go if you have little kids. The ambiance/atmosphere is engaging and they even have two tables that are in a "jail cell," which I know my kids would have loved when they were small. The service was fast and friendly. I'd consider stopping here again.

The food was OK. The service was not good. I do not recommend the sausage or the Mac n cheese. The chicken and ribs were ok.

Fountain PEPSI and PEPSI ZERO! I haven't been here in YEARS. It's exactly the same minus the bull. I'm sure Covid took care of that. There is a full bar where is where I've spent most of my previous visits lol. You walk up to the counter to order. Choose from several BBQ options like combo plates, sandwiches, and salads. We had pulled pork sandwiches and a brisket sandwiches. The meat was SO tasty and tender.

We always make this a place to stop at when in the area. Great bbq and great ambiance. Food is ready quickly but quality is high! I've tried their hot chicken sandwhich in the past and trust everyone when they say it's HOT. I was not able to eat more than 2 bites at the time. Not sure what the spice level was but I didn't make the same mistake twice. Tri trip and brisket is the way to go. Sides are good although I haven't tried their Mac and cheese yet. Only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because it's pricey compared to other bbq places I've tried. Anywhere from +3-5. Still recommend you try them out though.

The food was alright. The lady at the counter seemed a bit annoyed. Not very good customer service. Expensive for a place you order at a counter, pick up your order, and bus your own table.

What an interesting place! We stopped here while traveling through so had never even heard of it. First impressions walking in was the atmosphere was awesome. 5/5 stars. They have have an old-timey water fountain when you walk in, everything is decorated like an old country western saloon, complete with two "jail cells" that you can eat in. Super creative and fun. Next thing we noticed was how cold it was. We came here on a cold rainy day and really wanted a warm escape from the weather. We didn't get that-- we literally could see our breath inside with how cold it was. Also, the table we ate at wasn't clean, there was barbecue sauce stuck on the table still. Seemed like they could have been a little short staffed this day though. Food was great! Enjoyed the flavors of the brisket best, and the pulled pork and ribs were also great. The turkey leg was HUGE so portion size was great but it was a little dry, and so was the tri tip. Wish everything was a little warmer too. The salad was good to see as a fresh option but needed more toppings than just carrots (maybe some red onion at least). Staff were super nice and friendly and we felt very welcomed. The soundtrack was mostly sad or mad country songs, felt like it didn't quite match the atmosphere they were going for. I felt like they're close to greatness. Change a few things and they'd be at 5 stars.

So we get there with high hopes. Nobody at the counter - found 3 or 4 employees clustered at the bar. I went to the bathroom and found nasty mold around 2 of the pipes leading to the urinal and brown logs in toilet that I had to flush 3 times. Go back to front and find my wife reporting the lazy employees took much time to take her drink order. We left while we had our health

You have to wonder about a beef place that only gives you a plastic knife to cut your meat. That it cut easily is a testament to how tender the meat is! I had the brisket with a side salad; still KETO. The portion is generous, several thick slices of meat. It's really good, too. I'm picky about Ranch dressing, and theirs was clearly not from some bottle. It had a lot of body & good flavor. The patio is spacious and I loved the bonfire. Service was pleasant and quick. Will definitely be back.

First experience was in 2007 over the years it has declined. Last visited in 2021 it was worth the visit. Today is the last time. My wife and I both agreed on that. Counter service only, serve yourself your own drinks, find your own take out boxes, flatware, condiments and bus your own table, per requested note on napkin dispenser makes me wonder if the tables get sanitzed, surprised we didn't have to do that, had to walk up to the counter to retrieve our food, which was mediocre. Brisket wasn't fresh, lacked in flavor, very little smoked flavor to it. Nobody cared about our food and service, but yet wanted a tip! Constant over the loud speaker mentioned a customer's name and said come and get it! $46 for basket of fries, side of pulled pork, and a Brisket sandwich during lunch time hours no drinks. Very unfriendly and uninviting environment! I live 5.5 hours away and when traveling 101 I would look forward to Bubbas, never again.

Always a go to anytime you stop in Paso Robles. The food is delicious. The drinks are cold. The staff is friendly and service is quick.

BAD Bubbas BBQ Food made my family ill (3 out of the 6). Service Terrible. My family of 6 went in mid afternoon, after coming a long way and stopped at Bubba's for convenience of location (hotel). Dark hair, woman had a major attitude. No one but two other people in restaurant. This is not the original Bubbas and sprinkles of red chili so apparently to address bad food, is not the answer.

Passing thru Paso I had a hankering for a brisket sandwich. However the sandwich at Bubba's was $19.99!!! Unwilling to pay such a price I settle on a cheeseburger slider. The burger was decent, fries were good. But I am still smarting on how jacked up the BBQ prices were. Bummer.

Super cool place and great atmosphere. You can smell the delicious BBQ from the street! Lots of TVs and the place was fool of character. We tried the pulled pork and brisket. Both were full of flavor and super moist; the sauces were on point and definitely added to the flavor without overwhelming it. The meats had the right amount of smoke, and overall a great BBQ!

Bought $50 of brisket and more than half of it was fat. Will not be going back. It use to be good.

First time at Bubba's BBQ in Paso Robles. The place is nice and great for kids with some arcade games to keep them entertained. The food was good, but the overall experience could've been better. The lady at the register wasn't very friendly and didn't offer any suggestions, which would've been helpful. Also, the hot sauce wasn't as hot as expected--wish it had more kick.

I love this place. I stop by when I'm going to family in Monterey. Today stopped and got a tri tip and it was overdone. Like my meat on the rarer side. Will try again
