Ordered the shrimp scampi very delicious came with a salad and garlic bread. Very friendly staff I've been coming here since 2008. Never been sick, and the food is always good. Highly recommend if you're in town. They also deliver. Breakfast grinders are fire as well.

Pizza-wise, this is up there as some of the best in Middletown. I love the thick dough and crust, that's how you make a strong and delicious pizza! Cheese is even, tasty and the perfect amount of stringiness. The sauce is flavorful and not too overbearing... perfectly complimentary. All in all, a fantastic pie! The price for the pie wasn't expensive either, much more favorable than other top-tier spots. Curly Fries are also great in taste. Very mom and pop vibes, which is great. Small interior, so you may want to consider takeout. The location isn't bad and has some parking. Will definitely visit more as one of the better spots in this area.

This was my 1st time ordering from here I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, regular cheeseburger, french fries, a 12inch a 16inch steak n cheese Grinder with mozzarella sticks. My kids enjoyed the burgers the steak was decent it needed to be seasoned a little more this was a neutral experience for me...

The grinders we ordered were pretty good. Unfortunately they messed up the order. We ordered 4- 12" grinders. 1 meatball, 1 sausage, 1 Turkey, and 1 eggplant. There were 2 other people listening to the order being put in to verify this. They forgot the peppers on the whole meatball and instead of a whole sausage grinder they gave us another 1/2 meatball grinder. I called them to explain and they said I could "swap" one out. Since I unknowingly already started to eat the half meatball I told them I would compromise to get just a half sausage grinder instead of a whole one. They said sorry but it was note there policy! A previous time they forgot to put lettuce and tomato on a turkey grinder. It's too bad, the food is decent but because of the -customer is always wrong- attitude I won't be ordering from here any more.

The pizza was good and ready when I got there friendly counter person. I did ask for pie slice and got squares but can't hold that against them if they cut squares all day it's easy to mess that up.

Placed a delivery order at night that was incorrect and by the time I seen the mistake they had closed for the night. The next day I called to let them know and they apologized plus replaced it without hesitation they are a family favorite and their service is awesome as well as all the food

Had our first experience with Big Cheese at an event in Middletown. By the time we had the pizza it was lukewarm and was still really good. So we decided to order it for ourselves. We went on a Thursday at around 6 pm. They were extremely friendly to my husband and daughter when they were there picking up. We got two large pies and again they were phenomenal. They were thin but not dry cracker thin. The crust was soft and chewy not bread like. You can literally place garlic, oil, herbs and tomato individualy. Theres no acidic tinned taste. We are very impressed and will definitely be back as regulars. Also we live in Cromwell so there are plenty of in town options but nothing like Big Cheeses flavor. Great work guys! Updated 8/2019 So we have since come to Big Cheese many times and recently we have been really disappointed. The customer service has been lacking mainly the dude at the front answers the phone with no courtesy or professionalism. He’s the same in person. No hello, no have a good night. Like he is begrudgingly working there. We were tolerating him because the food is great. This has changed as well. Lately everything is overdone. The entire pizza will be brown, the cheese is so scarce it’s like a thin sheet of construction paper. You can’t name yourself Big Cheese and serve borderline burnt pizzas with far too little cheese. We won’t be back for a while as it’s annoying to pay $30+ on food that is hit or miss.

I absolutely love their Pizza, they have the best pizza in Middletown!! However I don't like their hot wings, it wasn't fully cooked otherwise. I would have definitely gave them five stars.

Holy shit! I went here for a Pastrami (cured beef) grinder on a whim. Oh my gawd. THIS IS WHAT I WANT!!! The flakey but crispy bread, the thinly sliced tomato, the freaking shredded lettuce, some vinegar, whole ass jalapeños, not scared to put some raw RED onions on there, cheese, strong spicy mustard. F**k!!!... I went home and ate some... and reheated it again on broil, and just devoured that shit with a beer. THAT IS HOW YOU MAKE A friggin SUB or "grinder". This ragged place is Nardelli's TIMES TWO. D'Angelo's is a close call.

When they first opened I'd give them 3 stars but now 1 is too much. The pizza is old and smells like feet. These people can't even speak good English so how are they going to take a custom order the way I like it. They asked me if the whole pizza was for me or not? I told em that's none of their business. They are rude and use cheap ingredients. I know good food and it ain't here.

Best place ever would highly recommend this to anyone !!! Was just a small hole in the wall type of place and was beautiful and amazing employees were great and the place was very clean !!

I called to place an order for a pizza delivery and when the phone was answered it sounded like someone just grunted. I ask if if was Big Cheese and the response was "What do you want", I let him know what I wanted and the response was "Give me your number". I said I'll call back and hung up. I don't care how much I like the food from any restaurant hospitality is a very big part of service. Rude. I thought I'll speak to the owner instead of leaving a review and called 2 days later. The same employee answered the phone. I asked to speak to the owner, the reply "Who are you", gave my name, he's here but he's too busy to talk to you he's making a pizza. Called Empire Pizza, very personable, and will never order from Big Cheese again.

They lied and added 10 more dollars to my card and told me one thing. Good thing instinct kicked in I checked my card. Canceled order. Calling my cars now to cancel them ... ew. I​

Poor service and rude delivery drivers. Delivery driver showed up with my delivery. Flat out asked for a tip. I believe that is rude. Then when I told him "here a tip don't ask for one " They fagged my phone number and said I can't order there any more. Don't worry you not the only place in town and I will never order there again

This is a great, convenient location for a pizza shop. We were waiting for a prescription at CVS to be ready for my 3 year old. While we waited we were able to stop and get some grinders and a piece of pizza. I did not care for the pizza, it was bland and reminded me of frozen pizza. My 3 year old, on the other hand, enjoyed the pizza. What was really nice about the pizza was that they sell it by the slice if you'd like. The grinders were good, plentiful in meats and fresh veggies. The shop has a couple of small tables for people who would like to eat there. The only table that was left available to us had boxes all over it that a young man had to clear away before we could sit, and even then, there were only 2 chairs for the 3 of us. There are better places to get grinders in town but if you're in the area it's not bad for a quick bite.

Awesome pizza....real steak and cheese grinders no fake meat and really great tasting.......not much dining room but my family of 6 we made it work nothing but a good ole great time

Best salads fresh,crisp and so much you can not eat it all! For less money. I had a salmon salad delicious....cost less then $8.00 small check it

Sunday's have large cheese for $9.99. It's okay. Not the best pizza but definitely not the worst. I don't have a photo but their pizza looks picture perfect and crust stays edible not crunchy to the point of scratching the roof of your mouth! For me, its the sauce that needs improving then it would be amazing!!!!

I called to order a pizza deal and when they quoted me the price it was way higher than what advertised. When I questioned all they said was prices went up and we no longer what was advertised. To me that's false advertisement and should have been given at the price stated on their own website.

This is probably my favorite pizza restaurant, and so conveniently located only half a mile from my house. Whether you call for pick up or delivery I've always gotten fresh hot delicious food for an amazing price. Yeah so what they charge a $2 delivery fee but it ends up with the driver and they are always so friendly and helpful! My favorite pizza has to be the Buffalo chicken because it's made with blue cheese and the way they do their buffalo chicken is great! they also own the restaurant next-door called East Main Fish N Chips and They have fresh seafood shipments daily none of that frozen b/s, always fresh here. Either restaurant will satisfy anyone's craving for just about anything you could possibly crave!

Your not going to go here and get an amazing pizza, but for the money you could do much worse. I've been going to big cheese for several years and never had an issue. They have a different deal everyday of the week which is nice.

They are still rude! They are also charging a delivery charge for each item you order - not per delivery. My daughter placed the order for her & the kids dinner & lunches the next day. When I called back & questioned the total, he rudely told me there were 2 pizzas, so 2 charges. I said, "So if I order 10 pizzas, there will be 10 $2 charges, or $20 for delivery?" & he said there would be. Also, there were supposed to be 2 cheese pizzas. ONE had onion on it...

Sketchy location with some pretty good slices and a damn good steak and cheese sandwhich I have to say. We ended up getting cheese, meatball and supreme slices, I ended up getting the steak and cheese with mushrooms. The slices where hot and the crust was perfect with the cheese. The steak sandwich was perfect with a good crisp to the bread. Besides the location the food was great and the counter staff friendly.

I put in a large, last minute order yesterday. The order was delivered right on time, and the pizza was good. A tray of salad came with a variety of individually packaged salad dressing, a pleasant change from the large container that other places provide. Will definitely order from them again.

This place serves your standard pizza, Something that is OK to eat-sah. But I will continue on with my search through the town, For the best pizza pie to turn my frown upside down. Got a cheese pizza and a Greek salad to eat during the football game. The salad was really good. It was fresh and the topics went really well with the Greek dressing. The pizza was nothing to write home about. Tasted slightly processed and was a little cold, but an OK flavor and a flaky crust.

First time ever getting food from here and This place was so disgusting. I ordered 2 calzons one with pepperoni and one hawaiian with bacon. The Hawaiian one tasted moldy and then I call them and the pretty much call me a lier and when I call to make sure they are coming to get them BOTH and give me a refund on BOTH they hang up on me. I'm sorry but neither of us are eating anything that came out of that place with how bad mine was. I'm sorry but it was like bitting into mold it was so gross. Never again.

Don't use this place if you are planning to have a party. We had a guy at work order 30 pizzas for a big farewell party, Big mistake. We all told him that was the last time he was in charge of choosing the pizza and the place. The pizzas were absolutely horrible. They were cold when delivered. They all tasted the same. The were burnt. Some had small squares of brown that we could not determine if it was meat or what. The crust was not that great. Very doughy. When a large order of pizzas are made, there should be more of a variety. This is not the place's fault..it was the guy who made the order. We should have had some white sauce pizza and not just three different kinds. Very disappointing. You need to add more flavor and get rid of that square meat or whatever topping that was if you want return customers. But I won't be back. There are better places in MIddletown.

Do not go here!! My family has been using this place for 10 years!, I mean every week I ordered 3 pizzas they were over half hour late, so I asked the delivery guy, who was the owner if he would take a anything off for being so late, he turned around didnt say a word and left. I called the restaurant and they told me that they would not talk to a woman, to have the man or the boyfriend call and hung up on me. This is after spending thousands at this restaurant using them every week for ten years! Never again will I use this sexist racist pizza place.

Yes, I made it up.My pizza order did NOT come out to $26.00 I lied. Because that's what people lie about and that's the issue at hand here.NOT! In being facetious .No, the pizza itself did not cost $26.00. The order in total,did. And you guys definitely messed up. Any reputable place wouldve immediately offered a replacement. I understand there are grimy people out there that try to get free stuff, but I'm not one of them. I dont eat sausage and I spent my hard earned money on sausage pizza that is still sitting in my fridge. Maybe I should take it down there,just to prove my point. I think youd be pretty pissed off too ,"phone girl ",if you found yourself in a similar situation. While I realize it was not your fault, I apologize for yelling at you, I just thought it could have been handled a little better. I work on the phone for a living and you did absolutely nothing to diffuse the situation.

BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK! I think the pizza is quite good. I think the prices are excellent. The delivery is always right on time and the order is SPOT ON every time. We order a couple times a month and never an issue. Factor in that Nick, who runs the place, is friendly, accommodating, and an honest, good guy. This is definitely my go to delivery place.

Tasty, fast, and cheap. These three words are perfect for reviewing this pizza place. I eat at this place regularly when I am in visit to Middletown. Even though that the pizza place sits outside from the town it doesn't bother me to drive to it simply because it is unique and better than other places in the town. I have never waited to pick up my pizza, my pizza always tasted great and the price of the pizza pie is cheaper than on the other pizzas that I visited in the town.

Good place to order chicken wings, grinders and juicy pizza. Food is freshly prepared. After busy weekend days many times I stop with my family to buy lunch and have picnic by Connecticut River. Family business friendly to customers. Always ready to help. We will definitely come back!

3 blocks away and 1hr 30min delivery. Called twice to check and finally it showed up. COLD. Was told that NEXT time I'd get a discount. Even after I heated it up it was not very good. My advice is read the reviews and make your mind up to order or not. If there are good reviews for this place.............Any place can get it right every so often by accident. Hope they don,t hold their breath til next time.

For delivery it is pretty decent pizza and grinders. Nothing stands out but their wings used to be pretty good. They went with smaller wings and the sauce seem to change.

$9.50 for a large cheese pizza, how can you go wrong?!? Love this place! Best cheap eats around!!

Was in Middletown for the day for work and wanted a slice of pizza on lunch. I asked if their slices were Buffalo chicken or grilled chicken he said they had both. I asked for grilled chicken and told the cashier I can't do spicy food when he asked if I was sure. They gave me Buffalo chicken pizza and when I bit in my mouth was on fire. When I asked for a drink he said I had to pay and even though I warned that I can't do spicy food I was yelled at because I had no drink and the heat of the chicken caused me to throw up. When I asked for a refund or another slice I was asked to leave

Whoever took my order over the phone is disrespectful. I ordered a turkey and cheese and he repeated it back to me. When I received the order it was a steak and cheese so I called back and he told me next time to order the right sandwich.! R u serious.!! There wont be a next time.!!
