Shaq Visits Houston’s Trill Burgers And Orders a Kids’ Meal - Eater Houston

"On Wednesday, NBA Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O’Neal stopped into the smash burger joint while in town for the opening of the second Houston location of his own fast food restaurant, Big Chicken, in Richmond, according to a representative for Trill. This isn’t the last Houston will see of Shaq, who has made it clear that he plans to flood Texas with locations of Big Chicken. In addition to the Woodland Square and Richmond locations, a third Big Chicken in Washington Heights is in the works, according to a release from a Big Chickens rep." - Brittany Britto Garley

Shaquille O’Neal To Attend Big Chicken’s Restaurant Opening in Houston This Weekend | Eater Houston

"Texas’s first standalone brick-and-mortar location of Shaq’s fast-casual fried chicken sandwich concept is opening in Woodland Square with a grand-opening celebration on Saturday, June 24 that will include giveaways, games and a live DJ from 1–3 p.m. The menu mixes the owner’s childhood favorites with modern comfort-food twists, featuring crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, Cheez-It–crusted mac and cheese, shakes and signature items such as the “Shaq Attack” sandwich (pepper jack, jalapeño coleslaw and spicy chipotle barbecue sauce), the mac-and-cheese–loaded “Charles Barkley” with crispy fried onions and roasted garlic aioli, and “Dirty” fries topped with cheese, bacon, banana peppers and chipotle barbecue sauce. The opening is part of an aggressive expansion plan that aims for at least 50 Texas locations and more than 150 nationwide, joining existing outposts in multiple states, cruise ships and arena venues." - Brittany Britto Garley

Basketball Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O’Neal Will Open His Big Chicken Restaurant in Houston | Eater Houston

"Celebrity Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O’Neal’s fast-casual chicken franchise, founded in 2018, serves a blend of chicken dishes and comfort-food mashups inspired by his childhood favorites and current trends. The menu highlights crispy chicken sandwiches and tenders, Cheez-It–crusted mac and cheese, and shakes, with signature items like the “Shaq Attack” sandwich topped with pepper jack cheese, jalapeño coleslaw, and spicy chipotle barbecue sauce; the mac-and-cheese–loaded “Charles Barkley” finished with crispy fried onions and roasted garlic aioli; and “Dirty” fries smothered in cheese, bacon, banana peppers, and chipotle barbecue sauce. The brand is poised to expand into Texas with more than 50 planned locations across Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston, partnering with Fazil and Frank Malik and Noordin Jhaver to support growth. Existing operations include locations in Las Vegas and Glendale (CA), arena outposts in New York and Seattle, a ghost kitchen in Rochester, and offerings on Carnival cruise lines." - Brittany Britto Garley

Google
Tried this place out with the bros and it was good. Service could be better, but we would come back to try something different. My brother was really excited about the big cookie. Burgers, mac, and drink was good. Not our fave, but good over all.

Google
Quality has gone downhill. Chicken tenders were small and sad looking. Tried charging $3 for a water cup. Pouring store bought BBQ sauce and passing it off as their own. No wonder it’s dead during the lunch rush.

Google
Service was a bit slow and had to track someone down for silverware. The ultimate combo was good with the Mac and cheese on it. The Shaq attack was decent as slaw was good but think next time would swap out BBQ sauce for something different. Crinkle fries were really good.

Google
very clean quick, even though there was a bit of a language problem ordering the order was correct. The mac and cheese burger gave my f flexitarian friend her comfort food fix

Google
I visited during happy hour and appreciated the value offering. The discounted margaritas and other menu items really made my day. I enjoyed the fries and chicken tenders both of which were served hot with just the perfect amount of outer crunch. Service was attentive and I also liked the clean nicely laid out space.

Google
I visited this location today and had a great experience ! The staff from the manager on down were super friendly.. I got a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich Combo when fries. The sandwich was great! Perfect amount of sauce.. the taste was great and it was a good quality sandwich. The fries were good as well and I love restaurants with a variety of drink selections that differ from the standard coke/pepsi products.. which they have as well. I’ll definitely return to get what I purchase today or try something different 🙂

Google
Second time here and just as good as the first time. Shaq attack and tenders were good. Fries were fresh, hot and crispy.

Google
Big Chicken in Midtown Houston is hands down the best spot for chicken sandwiches, period! Shaq really delivered with this one. The chicken is so tasty and fresh, and the flavors are absolutely unmatched. The crispy crinkle fries are seasoned to perfection, and the real ice cream milkshakes… wow, just wow. Every bite feels like a treat! It’s hard to believe this place is so new because it’s already my number one choice over any other chicken sandwich spot. I hope Big Chicken expands to more cities like DC and Miami because this experience needs to be shared far and wide. Highly recommend checking it out—you won’t be disappointed!

Yelp
Food was delicious. Wings were extremely big, and Mac and cheese was pretty tasty considering it's not a southern food spot. I truly enjoyed the double chocolate milkshake. Perfect for a breakup or a sad day lol The margaritas were delicious. I believe happy hour is from 3-7 Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
My husband came here on duty at work with his coworkers. They had asked about the heat level on the flavors. The cashier told them which one was "the least hot/spicy" so they all ordered that flavor as most of them can't do spicy for health reasons and some don't like the spice. I'm not sure if they were pranking the group / doing it intentionally because of their profession or what.... But, they gave ALL of them the hottest level possible. This is seriously not something to joke about and is not what you should be doing to your customers. We were so excited to try this place and after this I would go as far as telling everyone not to come due to what happened. Buyer be warned as you may receive the hottest level instead of the least.

Yelp
The product is nothing like the large, crispy, pieces of chicken twice the size of the brioche bun overflowing with sauce in the pictures. It's a three ounce cut smaller than the bun, which is cheap like a supermarket hamburger bun, and it's lightly breaded and soggy with an almost undetectable amount of sauce, which is kind of tasteless. The chicken is exactly the same as the premade frozen Tyson chicken you put in the microwave. For a place that is called "big" chicken and has an extremely short menu with only one main product, it's stunning how carelessly and poorly the chicken sandwich is done. But that didn't stop them from overpricing the combo at $11.

Yelp
I really enjoyed eating here! The man at the counter was super nice and answered all our questions about the menu very easily. He also came around while we were eating to make sure everything was good. I got the original big chicken sandwich, and they ask if you want to add lettuce, tomato, and cheese, so I added lettuce and tomato. The chicken was big, well seasoned, and super juicy and there was a TON of lettuce so a bunch fell out. But that's fine because it was delicious either way. My mom has Celiac so she can't eat gluten and they were able to do grilled chicken tenders for her. Everything on the menu can be made grilled upon request. The tenders were also super juicy and she said she loved them. We both got crinkle cut fries but if you get a combo you can change the fries to any other side. The combo came with two sauces and if you get separate items (eg. tenders and a fry) each item comes with one sauce. I was surprised there weren't more people dining, but we did go for a late lunch. The space is big and was very clean. They also have a bar off to the side. Would come again!

Yelp
Sometimes getting out of the car when wanting an easy dinner is the way to go. Big Chicken on Yale quietly opened this past week. Stopped in with the family. I personally had the Shaq Attack sandwich. Perfect spice to it with the slaw and chipotle bbq sauce. I would definitely pick that again. The tenders on their own were good too. Great breading with good flavoring. I believe we tried the majority of their sauces which still lead me back to the chipotle bbq. The location has a full bar which was unexpected from a counter service semi fast food spot. All of the staff seemed friendly. The overall clean restaurant was worth the spot with perfect hokie coloring. For most adults even the kids two tenders would be plenty of good. The Mac n cheese was the only thing I wasn't that fond of. It was mediocre.

Yelp
#1 combo served piping hot and fresh. Side of buffalo sauce. I noticed they are open late too, which is a nice plus. Don't forget to download their app for rewards.

Yelp
Had the Jerome's Nashville Got combo. Flavor is actually good but the chicken meat was horrible in texture. Felt like it was extremely chewy and weird texture. I could not eat much of it. Hope I don't get sick.

Yelp
I observed this place and had to try it. The fast food restaurant is new, so the restaurant was immaculate. The service was so so. I order the Shaq Atrack and it came with no vegetables . The chicken was very tender but dry. The French fries were great. My opinion, if they could make the chicken moist it would be a hit. Some individuals may like it dry, I do not. The manager did ask us if our meals were fresh which they were. What was awesome was on the other side of the restaurant they have a full bar!

Yelp
Uncle Jerome's Nashville hot chicken was delicious! Highly recommend. Happy hour is daily 4-7pm!

Yelp
Plenty of parking. Clean and ready to serve. Large dining room. Shaded outside seating. Yummy Food!

Yelp
Our first visit and the staff was very kind. No complaints about our food. I appreciate that the dressing was already mixed into my Cobb salad.

Yelp
I had the BBQ chicken alert. Stupid name but great sandwich. I like the size of their sandwiches. Most of the chicken sandwich places think that bigger is better. They serve you this monstrous piece of fried chicken that's way too big for the bun. I've tried a lot of the chicken sandwich places around town, and this is the best one so far.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great but food is missing it. We had the Nashville chicken sandwich, Shaq attack sandwich, and fries. The chicken patties are thin and all you're getting is batter. The batter isn't even good. Disappointing.

Yelp
Is the big best fast food chicken restaurant in the world it's called shacks big chicken. The surface was good. The food was good and the ambience was great and great service. I recommend everybody to come here.
google avatar

Andrea A.

Yelp
The Chicken fingers are real big and they are good and their fries are good also they also have salads.
google avatar

Felicia J.

Yelp
The size of the chicken sandwich is "tiny"! The meat is flavorless. It was messy too. Unfortunately, I expected more from the photos. I will not be returning.

Yelp
shaq's chicken spot is finally open! i got a sneak preview the other day and their chicken sandwiches are delicious the sauces are amazing as well so get them all

Scott S.

Yelp
The chicken was tasty if you take it off the sandwich. The sauce tasted like liquid smoke and a bit sweet for my tastes. Overall I didn't care for the chicken sandwich. Not going in the rotation. SO got the grilled cheese and the bread was mushy and way too much cheese (I know, grilled cheese).

Marsha H.

Yelp
The chicken was okay not the best and not the worst but not near as good as Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken on Washington Avenue! The chicken is just a little on the dry side as opposed to Gus's which is just so moist and juicy it's addicting! I also tried mac and cheese because they hyped it up so much and said it has Cheez-its crumbled on top. Yes it has Cheez-Its maybe one crumbled on top but it was runny and tasted like they opened a can of cheap cheese and dumped in some elbow macaroni. Very Bland and again tasted like it came from a can. There are so many other places that have way better mac and cheese. So overall I'll continue to give my business to Gus's and probably won't go back to Shaq. Honestly I don't expect it to be around for more than 2 years!

Frances A.

Yelp
My son and I have been to this restaurant twice already and both times the food was spectacular. I always ask and make sure that they don't put anything too spicy on my sandwiches because their heat levels can be a bit off the charts. Their french fries are nice and crispy not greasy and their chicken sandwiches are the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this place.

J G.

Yelp
Food was ok when your local completion is Raising Canes, I'd go back to Canes before Big C. Service was curtious but items displayed on menu board aren't available to ring up like $2.99 for an additional Chicken Strip (per the manager the menu board is wrong) (I'm guessing this is a franchise location). Crinkle fries were cooked well and the sauces were tasty. I believe this would do better closer to a college campus with what they offer and a full bar. Great for that late night hungry college crowd. I can't see the demographic in this area supporting this much long. It probably took them longer to establish it then it will stay around. I will say if if does leave with the new layout inside from what it was as Corner Bakery, someone should swoop it up and put a cheek middle tier restaurant here.

Hector R.

Yelp
Great staff, put me on the menu quick and easy since I was new, cool manager, good service

Amber M.

Yelp
I visited Big Chicken last week and I was very impressed by the food quality and service. I ordered the Uncle Jerome sandwich with fries. The service was quick and the interior was very clean. I will definitely come back as the staff was welcoming and the taste was great.

Alexander M.

Yelp
Shaq just opened up the third location in Houston and so I went to check it out as it now closer to my home. Probably my favorite location, its in a nice area and the staff is great! Food came out fresh and fast, good service!
