Beautiful winery in Northwest Maryland that was recommened to me by another winery in Leesburg VA. The property and drive there is so picturesque. They have a beautiful and modern looking tasting room. The wine was pretty solid with my favorite being the petite verdot. They have food onsite and the pizza was pretty good. Big Cork is strong Maryland winery and a great place to visit.

Yesterday, my friends and I visited Big Cork Vineyards in Maryland, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Perched on a serene plateau surrounded by lush vineyards and encircled by distant mountains, the winery offered stunning panoramic views — especially as the sun set, painting the sky in soft, golden hues. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, made even more charming by a gentle young man playing guitar in the background. The staff were exceptional — the receptionist greeted us with warmth and explained everything with such enthusiasm, while the gentleman at the tasting desk guided us through their remarkable collection of wines with knowledge and grace. From the breathtaking scenery to the refined wines, delicious pizza and the genuine hospitality, Big Cork Vineyards felt like a perfect harmony of nature, elegance, and heartfelt connection.

I went out for a girls night on a Saturday here, also want to mention it was my first time. They had an outdoor concert (1979) playing from 6:30-9:30. Beautiful sunset.Tickets were cheap online, $14 but it was actually cheaper at the door... $12.50. Easy and fast entry no wait. They just scan your ticket and you go through security. Parking was easy and organized as well. One thing that's cool about this winery is they allow you to bring your own food. So we brought an entire charcuterie board, which made it more festive. I would suggest getting there early if it's a concert night as seating is limited. So bring a blanket or chairs for the lawn. This winery is a bit for boujee *as the young kids say* lol. Very clean restrooms too. Definitely will be back.

A great winery and vineyard, with some very nice wines. The reds were great, and some good port, too. And the Vermintino white wine was wonderful. They are in a beautiful setting with wonderful views. Cheese, olives, and meats are available, and crackers and fresh baked bread. The pizza was great as well. Lots of indoor and covered outdoor seating.

Great find! Arrived early, but was greeted warmly by manager. Wine servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds are impeccable. Really glad we found this place!

Big Cork Vineyards. What a beautiful place with beautiful views of the landscape and countryside. Wonderful venue, especially for a car show on a beautiful day. I definitely hope they have another one one next year, so I can bring my wife so she can enjoy some wine.

I was on vacation and went to buy a gift. I didn't have the time to stay long but wish I had! The view of the surrounding countryside is lovely, the wines I tasted were excellent, and the service was really helpful. They were able to give me some recommendations for which wine to get as a gift. The small gift shop also has some tasty and unique items.

So I'm late to reviewing this lovely vineyard with breathtakingly gorgeous views! I've been here a few times and I've been blown away from the views. The last time I visited, the sunflower patch was absolutely stunning! I had never seen so many beautiful sunflowers in one place ! On to the venue. I love the winery. It boasts a large indoor bar area where wine tastings take place, and an area where you can buy ice pops, and Big Cork branded items. The outdoor area is where the magic happens! There's a main area which is covered and I believe must be reserved in advance. There is also a separate and seemingly private covered area which is lovely for a private event. Otherwise, basking in the open space area is another option while enjoying a few glasses or bottles of wine among friends. Lovely!

Big Cork is a colossal space, with a white-dominant, modern interior and views of the countryside that are bucolic and relaxing. It's an example of minimalist design done well. The first time that I walked in, I was taken aback -- it's a sensory experience to a certain extent. The wine-tasting area and restaurant are all rolled into one. A long bar in the middle of things is snowy white and seems to stretch out endlessly. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about wine and Big Cork's viticulture -- a plus. Big Cork grows Petite Verdot, a red grape used in classic Bordeaux blends and one that I'm crazy about. Am happy to now have a source so close. I'm told their Petite Verdot has won a fair number of awards. Another one of their wines that's light and bright is Russian Kiss. This white wine brims with pear and citrus high notes, complementary earthy undertones and crisp finish. Rohrersville is a bit of a drive for me, living in DC. But one that I will gladly make.

Delicious wines in a gorgeous setting, and only one hour from DC! Try the Cabernet Franc.

We love exploring wineries and this is one of the best in Maryland. The Russian Kiss white wine made from Russian grape verities is one of the best Maryland wines I've had. The facility is perfectly laid out and welcoming.

Talk about good wine and great views. Recently paid them a visit as part of a private group for a tasting. They gave us a variety of flavors to taste. From Chardonnay to blanc de blanc, they had us all covered. We tried about 6-7 wines. They did have wine for sale if you'd like a few bottles to go. Prices ranged from 25 on up. They had many specialty flavors that all sounds delicious. Unfortunately time was not on my side. But it does give me a reason to come back! In addition to private tastings, the winery does have a chic tasting area where public tastings are open to all who visit. They also have spacious outside seating if you'd like to enjoy your wine and take in the view. While here I gnoshed on the most amazing French baguette from their market area. It was still warm! I paired it with some decently priced prosciutto. They do offer other bites to eat on site such as fresh made pizzas. I'll definitely be back for another visit.

This was my first time visiting this vineyard, and I cannot wait to return! It's such a beautiful drive out to the property, particularly now that it's autumn. I was actually there to attend a private event, but I loved the tasting room. The wine was amazing! I had the Sauv Blanc and Russian Kiss and I love them! If you haven't been to this vineyard it's definitely a must! I'm so lucky that I live in a nearby town because, I'll be coming back soon!

I have somewhat mixed feelings on this winery. On the positive side, the location is beautiful and feels more like a spa or resort than a winery. The interior is modern and sleek, the outside is beautifully maintained. There are food trucks offering handhelds and some tasty options. The wine is very good, balanced, flavorful, consistent across the board. You could try 10 different wines and have an excuse to buy a bottle of most of them. But the experience is almost too corporate. It feels like it wants to be a Beverly Hill boutique - right down to the prices and certain snootiness exhibited by quite a few staff members. They're not necessarily the most inviting. You feel like you're bothering them or that you need to make an appointment with a secretary to plan your experience. Don't get me wrong, it's a good quality wine. But it's not on that amazing next level that would influence that kind of approach. To be honest, it comes across as uppity. And having experienced the real deals elsewhere, and not seen that approach, it can detract from the experience. Having said all that, Big Cork definitely feels like the a must-visit location when you're in the crossroads of the Maryland/Virginia/West Virginia wine country and I have to recommend you give it a shot.

Absolutely loved this vineyard!! My friend is a member here so I visited with her during her wine pick up. We had a tasting and all the wines tasted amazing--I ended up getting a bottle (very tempted to get more but I do have too much wine at home). Staff was also super friendly. Their baguette is sooo good and their pizza was good too! Loved the live music and overall ambiance there. We did go during a hot summer day so look forward to checking out the vineyard again during the cooler seasons.

We stopped at Big Cork based on timing and convenience, and I'm very happy we did. A lucky chance, as we thought it was fantastic. My friend thought they were a 4.99, because they are so far away from us in Michigan. She in particular appreciated the selection of drier wines. I was impressed that I enjoyed both their red, white, and bubbly. Their bottles are a bit more pricey, but the quality is there. We started with a wine tasting at the bar. Deanna was phenomenal. She was knowledgeable and personable, wonderful representation of the winery. Olanda was also lovely in assisting us. They really made our trip to the winery perfect. After selecting a glass and some bottles to take home, we took the glasses out to the screened, covered patio. Cork has a large patio space as well as some lawn furniture. We brought snacks, they allow you to bring your own food outside, but they also had a food truck with pizza. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view, just as good as the wine! There were a couple of events happening the day we were there, definitely a good place to celebrate. This winery may be a bit out of the way, but is completely worth the trip!

We went to Big Cork for perhaps the 3rd or 4th time this weekend after a winter hike in Harpers Ferry, which is about 10 min away. The venue itself is just beautiful and I always feel so fancy there! We had some charcuterie and a bottle of their 2020 Meritage and the most amazing loaf of their fresh baked bread. I hadn't seen any baguettes out, but I asked and they were happy to put some in the oven- so make sure you do this as it's soooooooo good! We sat with our pup in the heated tent and enjoyed a quiet happy hour of vista views and Holiday music! It was just lovely. I do really with they did flights (I just don't like to have to make up my mind on a glass!), I also wish they allowed for bottle picking within their club... but outside of this (which is super minimal and easy to overlook!) I HIGHLY recommend this spot. It's beautiful, accommodating and they have really great wine. They have a fantastic meat/cheese selection and are now offering pizza- you really can't go wrong!

We enjoyed our tasting here and found ourselves fans of most of the wines. We took a case home. The ambiance is lovely here and the staff was friendly and helpful. We definitely plan on more visits to Big Cork.

Came to MD for a weekend getaway with my best friend. We decided to stop here after reading other great reviews and we weren't disappointed! Beautiful, modern establishment with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. This is definitely an upscale winery as you can tell by their lighting, velvet and leather lounge chairs, decorative walls, and added elements of corks. I thought their name was creative and loved that they incorporated it into their decor by having barstools made out of jumbo corks. Super unique! The only reason I gave 4 stars was because there were TONS of spotted red lanternflys everywhere. It was so bad that we had to move inside. I noticed a lot of guests were rushing to drink their wine because they too were bothered by them. I know that their an invasive species and probably common in that area, especially during the cooler months but you would think the winery would have some type of netting or would have done a bug treatment to their lawns. Guests were stepping on them left and right, some even plucking them out of their hair.

Big cork claims to produce the highest rated wine in Maryland. After our visit, I believe it! We ordered their most popular white (forgot the name) but it was a crowd pleaser for sure. We especially appreciated the beautiful views, tons of seating options, and delicious pizza food truck on locale. Just note they don't always have food trucks so be prepared to bring your own snacks as well. Will definitely be back and recommend Big cork to our friends and fam!

I've been really vibing with the MD wine scene the last few days, and Big Cork is no exception. The wines are fantastic...deep nuanced flavor and all estate grown. The palate weight is on the lighter side compared to west coast versions, but this is the mid Atlantic so that's to be expected. The owners have impeccable taste, and they've tried hard to cultivate an EXPERIENCE, not just a wine stop. The wine club is a steal. The staff were terrific and knowledgeable. Stop in if you're in the area. Big Cork is a can't miss!

Once a member of their club I. Was buying a case of their wine . It appeared that 50% were white which we don't drink ad gifted. We eventually dropped out membership (4 families). We continue to enjoy their word in local restaurants but not a wine club membership. We took out out of town visitors there for a local tasting on between the five wines I received less than a half glass. Was I expecting much? No. I have been up both Napa and Sonoma Valley. It's a drive by and cross over into Va.

We were excited to give Big Cork a second chance after the lady serving our tasting was rude. So we went back and was approached but a couple in the parking lot asking a lot of questions like who was driving, whose car was it and our last names... Later that day we realized they were detectives and trying to get us on something.. Really put a damper on things.. I wonder if Big Cork knows they have detectives approaching people in the parking lot...? It's a shame. What a beautiful w.

Beautiful location with mountain views . It's really well constructed & laid out. The builders & planners of this site know what a winery is supposed to look & feel like. Their vidal blanc was excellent for a MD wine. Will be back.

Beautiful Establishment, great wine, beautiful people. My sisters and I were searching for a midpoint for us to meet up from central PA, Stafford, VA and Crofton, MD, and we stmbled upon a gem at Big Cork! We reserved a wine tasting for the 3 of us and pre-paid online. We arrived and the property and views were breath taking! The building is modern and uses a crisp white and black decor with wood undertones. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas! The margarita pizza and apple pie calzone we ordered from was made with fresh ingredients and was very favor full! We loved that the Venue offers indoor, outdoor and heated indoor/outdoor seating! We will definitely be visiting Big Cork again! Thanks for making our sister meet up one for the books!

Located in Washington County, Maryland and ranked number 8 in the top 10 tasting rooms in America - pretty impressive!! I recently celebrated my birthday weekend here with family! My cousin suggested it and I'm so glad we visited. The place is absolutely gorgeous - lots of IG worthy pics here forsure!! It's huge and they have lots of weddings here!! We had a reservation for 6 people! We arrived and went into the tasting room. They pre-select the wines for the tasting but since it was my birthday, I was allowed to choose one additional one. I chose the cabernet franc and it was my fave! The rose was pretty good too! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable! Kudos to them! We sat at a table outside and enjoyed a few bottles! They close at 5 pm sharp (we were here on a Saturday) so come earlier rather than later!! I absolutely recommend this vineyard!!

Beautiful winery with a nice delicious refreshing white wine that I truly enjoyed. I ordered a bottle of the Russian Kiss, which is Big Cork Vineyards best selling wine which was relatively inexpensive. It definitely was light and refreshing. Beautiful views and fun live music. Its also very family friendly and lots of open seating on the patio. There's even indoor seating and a store with a wine tasting section. You can either bring your own snacks or even purchase cheese, snacks, fresh baguettes from their own store. I definitely recommend visiting here because there are breathtaking views and scenery.

Awesome spot! The tasting here is great and I'm a big fan of their medium to full bodied reds. The Syrah Rose is really good too. This place has excellent service and is a beautiful place.

This is an amazing winery. Perfect for events. Unfortunately there was a wedding right when we showed up, so we were not able to do their tasting. We had a glass of wine and cheese and we bought a bottle to go. This is by far the best winery we have been to in MD. We will be back!

It was suggested to us by a local after Kayaking at Antietam Creek to visit Big Cork Vineyards for some amazing wine and breathtaking views and I'm so happy we listened. Big Cork had it all, great service, knowledgeable staff with suggestions, live music, and spacious seating so that their guests didn't have to be too close to anyone else due to Covid. They also have a field area where you can bring your own chairs, blankets, and tents and enjoy your wine & also have indoor seating. Me personally? I chose to sit outdoors. The weather was just right and there's something about being able to look to the right and see beautiful mountain views that just relaxed us even further. As for the wines? We had two bottles, a Rosé and a Malbec that were delicious and reasonably priced. We are coming back to Antietam to kayak in a week and i will definitely be visiting Big Cork again.

Fantastic place. Glorious view. Super selection. We took an out-of-town friend with us. He was as impressed as we were. It was our first visit. Now we shall spread the news!!!

Big Cork is my favorite vineyard in the DMV. It reminds me of California Vineyards with the chic aesthetics and the rolling green hills. I've been back a few times and the wines never cease to amaze me. I love all of their whites (especially the sauv and their semi sweet ones). The rose here is on the slightly sweeter side also, so my perfect cup of tea! What's more, the owner Jen, is an absolute doll and so so sweet. For COVID they are socially distancing in the grass and you can bring your own blankets. They also have a few tables and seats set up distanced. Bring your own glasses or cups during COVID (although you can purchase at the vineyard too)!! Don't forget your masks! You need them to go inside for... the bathroom. Or for cheese and bites!

Great setting in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and really good wines. Both whites and Reds

I came here for a wine tasting with a couple of friends for the first time and we were impressed by the gorgeous grounds here. First, there is a cute little sunflower patch to greet you right as you pull in and a decent amount of parking space. The outdoor space is so welcoming and well-kept and a staff member greeted us right at the stairs before we went inside for the tasting. The interior is just as beautiful. It's a pretty large space-- very chic, modern, and clean. We got seated at the bar for our tasting and while I wasn't quite 6 feet from my neighbor, the seats are relatively spaced out and my friends and I just scooched in a little closer together. All in all, I think they are controlling the space fairly well with what they've got and I felt comfortable sitting there with my mask off. For the tasting, we each got a little menu card with space to take notes, a bottle of water, and a cute stemless glass to keep. The server talked us through the 6 wines we tasted as well as a bonus based on what she thought we might like. I'll admit, while I'm usually a red wine drinker I actually much preferred the whites here which were light, crisp and refreshing (I took home a bottle of their chardonnay). The reds were quite spicy and woody. If you're looking for something sweet, the ice wines are delicious! All in all, Big Cork had that classy upscale atmosphere we were looking for in a fun girl's day out. I'm very happy that we drove out to give it a go. It was well worth the trip!

Made a reservation for an event last Saturday. Was told that any party with over six people per table would have to book tables. Was notified that a table for 8 people would cost $ 160 and that the tables would be located in the smaller tent. It was a bit pricey for just a table. We had been there before, and all you had to do was go to a table and sit down. There was no charge for a table of six. But since my wife liked Big Cork, I went ahead and booked two tables. Upon arrival on this rainy, cold, Saturday, we were directed to the smaller tent and found our two tables set end to end. We were told that another party would be occupying the other three tables. I asked the manager, Chris, for some tablecloths and he was kind enough to provide them. We began laying out our food trays and found that the tent was pretty chilly. We assumed that the heat had only just been turned on and the tent would warm up. It never did! When the second group of people turned up, we found out that only one heater was working. When we approached Chris, he stated that one heater was not working. We told him that we found that out, and asked him to turn up the thermostat on the other heater. He stated that it was set at 70 degrees and couldn't be adjusted further. One of my friends then asked him what he was going to do about it. Chris' answer was "What do you want me to do? The heater is not working" We then asked him how he expected us to deal with almost no heat when we had paid for these tables? His answer was there is nothing I can do! Pretty cavalier! I guess we won't be going there in the future!

I'm the area to visit friends & came here. We live in NE Ohio with a plethora of wineries so I'm going to try & not compare. They do not have food per say but I did see a can of sardines by the register. We were able to bring our own antipasti yummies. They have tables inside & out with soft seating & tables outside also. The grounds are beautiful with views of hills & grapevines. We had a Chardonnay & Meritage. Both were good. we thought the wine was pricy @ $30+ a bottle. There was an acoustic guitar player that was good. Nice place to chill on an afternoon. -1 star for no real food.

Excellent ambiance, excellent wine! I only had a red and it was wonderful. Deep flavor. It was the petit verdot. The staff were super friendly and the environment was inviting, bright and clean without being over the top. My only complaint, they close at 5:00. On a Saturday....in the summer....also. They're kinda pricey. I would have had a second glass. I'll go again next time I'm up there.

Some good things and some okay things about this place. The Good Things - Their property is gorgeous! They have rolling hills, lots of parking, surrounded by grapevines, roofs for shade, and its serene. The Okay Things - They don't really have sweet wines. This was a downfall for us as we prefer sweet wines. They had a specialty sangria, which tasted like Strawberry Lemonade. It was really good! There was the smell of cigarette smoke across the entire patio which made the experience not so enjoyable as it gave us headaches. Would prefer it if there was one side of the building they could smoke on instead, especially because of people with asthma and smoke sensitivities. They offer summer concert series throughout the season, some of which require tickets and cost. Overall, a nice place to stop by for a few hours on the weekend.

Although I had a nice experience when visiting the vineyard, the experience I had after joining the "club" was not so pleasant. As I understood it, by joining the club I would receive discounts on wine and tasting when visiting. I purchased a large case of wine at this discount to take home. Most were good and others I couldn't even finish. I figured I just wouldn't go back. We come to find out my card had been charged not once, but twice. Had I not noticed how long would this have continued? I immediately called once I noticed and the young lady was beyond rude. Offered to remove one charge but not both and said "I needed to figure out a way to pickup the wine that's been waiting for me". I was never notified of this. Following the call I tried to create an account at their website. Not much info there either. Although it did say club members would be charged quarterly. I was charged twice in 60 days??!! Also, they will mail your wine but I was not given this option?? I really dont even know what to do at this point??! No wine and out $228. So frustrating

This is the best winery in Maryland! I love the views here. The staff is also very friendly and inviting.

This place is pricey but it is worth it. Go here on a beautiful summer day and you can enjoy wine on their patio. I heard they have concerts here and have hundreds of people flock this winery. Their Sauvignon blanc was so refreshing! It's clean and modern. I loved it!

One of my favorite wineries in MD. Great location right off the highway and not far from Moco. With current Covid conditions they do allow you to bring tables and outside food. Max 6 people per table and tables have to be 6 feet apart. Views here are great especially during the fall season. The have a large grass seating area and also tables with cover from the sun as well. I came here on a busy Saturday and the place was completely packed by 2 PM. Its best to come here earlier and try to claim your spot. The indoor area still has wine tours if you book in advance, but no wine tasting at this time. Highly recommend packing food, bringing your lawn chairs and tryto get here early on the weekends. Parking is very easy to find and this vineyard takes Covid seriously with sanitizers and masks worn by the entire staff. Great selection of wines and I love their Merlots and cabernets

Last minute trip so I didn't do the usual planning I do. That being said you can't do a wine tasting without an appointment. Luckily we had one but we missed the time and thankfully they squeezed us in later spot. You have to buy tickets well in advance for events, karaoke, and tastings. Every employee was super nice and helpful and they have warm delicious fresh baguettes for sale but definitely bring your own food and snacks. They do provide some cheeses and meats and crackers as well as eco friendly plates and utensils and water. Meritage wine was my favorite Red and Chardonnay loved it! I'm not into oaky chards anymore and this one reminded me more of a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. I also did love their Ice wine. I was told by staff that this coming fall (2022) is when they will be releasing their 2020 vintage and they are excited because the weather was great and the grapes were big and juicy and they had a lot that year. I'll have to return for sure!

This place I called and said we were traveling 3 hours away to visit. She said it would be busy. We showed up and the place was very large. Beautiful from the outside and inside. We we're greeted as we arrived. They took us to the bar as we we're served by a very knowledgeable waiter. He seemed to have a great understanding of the wine. We learned that he was leaving for another winery. He seemed interested in making blueberry wine at the new place. At first I was like I'm going to leave. The service was slow. As my wife pointed out it wasn't his fault. He had too many people to wait on and a couple wine club members were being difficult at best, slowing everyone else's experience. When sampling wine it should take no more than 5 minutes. It took 45 minutes. We just traveled 3 hours away and in hopes of visiting more before 6 pm came around.

This place is beautiful! There's a lot of outside seating (all 6 ft or more apart) under a massive canopy. Wines are served by the bottle and they have a pretty good list of different wines. The scenery is beautiful with the mountains in full view. There is also a grass sitting area available. The inside is very modern and clean. Very friendly staff. Recommend bringing your own wine glasses.

We weren't there for the owner's party, but he certainly did stop by and talk to us for some time. We cannot wait to go back soon...this time with lots of friends, food and ready to buy lots of amazing wine.

What a beautiful vineyard! The drive from Baltimore county was scenic and beautiful. We arrived at the Winery and were greeted by the friendly staff. We did the wine tasting which was 10 dollars for 6 different wines. We actually got to taste 8 because our wine pourer (what are they called lol) was so awesome. My favorite was the Russian Kiss , a bottle of which we enjoyed there and i also took with me. The interior of the winery was very cool and modern. I absolutely love the ties they wear as a part of the uniform. I always wish Wineries had more substantial food available (aside from the cheese and cracker type of things to nosh on).. but that's just me. The owner Randy walked around and greeted the guests which was really nice. He was very friendly. It's absolutely gorgeous there and i just can't say enough good things. Can't wait to go back! For a picnic and also to do a tour !

My new favorite place to pop a few bottles and sit a spell. This place is GORGEOUS. The grounds are well-maintained, beautifully manicured and just begging for you to stay and have a drink. Or two. Or 5. It's oozing with character, personality, charisma, and charm (including hilarious wine themed art adorning the walls, and an 8 foot Hat Tree with gorgeous, colorful hats hanging from each branch. All for sale.)... but with a sophisticated (yet unpretentious) twist. There's seating on the patio on either side of the building, a few couches and high-top tables inside (complete with stools shaped as corks!) as well as a few wicker couches and tables in the grass, overlooking the lush, verdant hills of Washington County, MD. The staff welcome you as if you're an old friend, and are enthusiastic about helping guests find the perfect wine for his/her own individual palate...and this vineyard makes simply amazing wine. I'm more of a red drinker, but I found quite a few whites that I enjoyed immensely. The Russian Kiss, the Syrah Rosé, and (surprisingly!) the Chardonnay were among my favorites. I left with a half case of those goodies to take home. There's a pretty great selection of cured meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, crackers, and other delicious nibbles for sale, or you can feel free to bring your own goodies. In the evenings, there's a food truck that comes to the vineyard selling BBQ. As we were outside enjoying ourselves, Randy (the owner) came out to greet each guest personally. He also informed us that that evening he was preparing to host a birthday celebration for his mother at the vineyard, and invited us to stay for the party. Unfortunately, we had to get back to the city, but I appreciated his hospitality as well the overall genteel nature of both he and his staff. My only regret is that I didn't discover this place sooner (when I lived nearby).

Big Cork Winery is a beautiful location. We went on a day when the weather was absolutely perfect. Blue skies, puffy clouds, and sunny. It's very clean inside. The decor is neat and gives a nice feel when you first walk in. Staff are super friendly and the indoor experience is very pleasant. The little shop has some cool things for sale, like truffle honey. The back room is also clean and has beautiful light fixtures. All around classy feel. Outdoors, there was a band to add to the atmosphere, which was lovely. There is a lot of space to social distance, except I guess that's up to you to do so and people didn't really distance much. Despite the 4 person/table rule, the patio was quite crowded. It seems there were people everywhere you turned unless you walked out further toward the grapes. I'm not docking a star for this bc let's face it, we're all adults and we can choose to social distance on our own. I think this is a beautiful winery and understandably probably a fav for the people who live close. The wine we had was good, but it's all personal preference of course. Unfortunately I can't speak to the wines as I'm no connoisseur.

I was impressed with Big Cork Vineyards, the setting is super, your out in the middle of the country with vineyards surrounding most of the building and seating area. The seating around the tasting room is ideal for the views and offers shade from the sun, and their facility is impressive. We did a wine tasting (reservations required), which was very good and they served a few bonus tastings, which is helpful in being able to determine which wine to buy. The tastings ran $15 each. We ended up liking their Barbera red and the Sauvignon Blanc had a crisp hint of grapefruit. Overall it was a very pleasant visit and we intent to come back. Additionally, we attended their Fleetwood Mac tribute band Rumours concert too, which was awesome and very well organized. The fireworks after was one of the best.

where do i start? I went on a beautiful Sunday and the weather was perfect. This winery is not near anything so make sure u u got your gas in your tank and have foods (they only have a few things such as bread, cheese, meats, mostly appetizers) I love wine and wineries, i have been to few ones in California, Virginia and Maryland! So far this is my favorite one in Maryland! The winerie is about 10 acres which is absolutely beautiful and big. The tasting was done by a young lady and she was really knowledgeable about her wines. My date that plan the day chose this location specifically for their wines (port) , we tried the port and it was just way too sweet for our taste buds but we decided to go with the sauvignon blanc. The winery is kids and dog friendly. They have an area for kids under a tent with some games. Also there was live music from 1 to 4 pm , few birthdays celebration so that made it lively and fun I would definitely recommend this winery for dates, girls hanging out, bday celebration.

I first found out about this place through some ladies that I met as I was doing a hike down the street and thought this might be a great ending to my day to start my birthday weekend. When I first walked in with my friend we were followed by a white couple behind who walked in behind us who were greeted first by the bartender. However, we were standing closer to the bar and walked in to the establishment before them. She proceeded to ask them how she could help them and told them that there was one slot open for wine tasting and gave them the slot that was open. The couple sat down and we stood next to the bar and she never asked us if we needed any help or anything. I had to speak up and ask for assistance. We were never greeted. She instructed us there were no slots available. I told her that we were actually here and standing closer to the bar than the other couple and she said it wasn't intentional but that's called passive racism and if you haven't put two and two together the bartender was white as well as the couple who walked in after us and me along with my friend are both black. I brought it to attention that it may have been about race and I felt some way about and she denied it and went to grab her manager who spoke to us as well. The bartender also told us where we could sit and drink and told us there was a non smoking side and a smoking side and said on the smoking side you could smoke cigarettes or cigars but nothing illegal. She made a joke about it and I don't know if that was suggesting that we smoke illegal drugs which we don't. My friend is a police officer and definitely can't smoke drugs and I don't do any drugs either. The manager was helpful with assisting us but I don't think either were fullyaware of what "passive racism" is and how someone can be a passive racist. I suggest maybe an anti-racist training could help to educate some of the older staff who might not be as familiar with it. My friend also made a joke and said we may need a place to crash if we get to drunk with we didn't and they both said they do have a house to rent but it's "really expensive". Now not knowing us that might not be expensive to us which the price tag really wasn't that bad. In my opinion it was almost insinuating that it was out of our price range. I do events and have rented out houses and venues and would have bought several bottles of wine but because of the "racism" I chose to do my personal minimum. The venue is nice and the wines, bread, cheese and spreads were nice along with the connect 4 to play outside. I would come back to this place. But the main reason why I am writing this post is to educate those of passive racism and to acknowledge when it happens and what it looks like. I hope that this message is received. Thanks

We had a great afternoon at Big Cork - Kathleen was super helpful when we walked in and explained our options regarding tastings, glasses, bottles, etc. as well as our seating options. We loved the petit Verdot and enjoyed it with a bacon and hot honey pizza from the truck outside. The pizza was delicious - so fresh, fast, and flavorful! There was live music, plenty of parking, and lots of seating - glad we stopped in!

Great time at Big Cork Big Cork is an absolutely stunning winery and vineyard. It is located in MD, but not too far from the VA state line and just minutes from some of the VA wineries. I really like Big Cork because it is medium to large size wise but modern with a beautiful view of the Sugarloaf mountains. The tasting and barrel rooms are really nice, there is plenty of seating outside, and the wines are pretty good though kind of pricey IMO. Snacks are available as well. You have to check out the large portrait of the winemaker located inside the tasting room. It was created with 15,000 corks that have remnants of wine stains on them. It was really cool. I definitely plan to return in the future.

This was one of my best day trips of the year! The ride in was scenic with lots of rolling green hills, farms, and open pastures. As you turn into the property you say to yourself is this it? Yes, for once our GPS was right. When I do vineyards I don't like crowds, so a weekday or low key weekend with a non-event is my speed. If you're like me, just know Friday evening and Saturday is when they get a crowd. Big Cork is very modern and sleek, not something you would expect in rural MD, no predictable reproduction of faux Italy here with wooden barrels all over the place or plastic grapes. The tasting consisted of 6 wines, $1 from each tasting was dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Cumberland County in October- Thoughtful. -2015 Sauvignon Blanc: light fruity dry. A bottle runs about $18. Pretty good -2015 Chardonnay: One of my favorites, aged in both Oak and Stainless Steel and did not wreak of that awful after taste that typically turns me from Chardonnays Now this is where it gets interesting for me. REDS! -2014 Meritage (pronounced like heritage, but with an "M") a red blend of Bordeaux grape. Pretty good very mellow I found that their reds would be best complimented with food, because they are very distinctive in flavor. Oddly enough at Big Cork I really favored their White wines. For me this was a first. I was impressed that I had a shift in perspective on whites. Means Big Cork is making wine that is somewhat out of the ordinary. Quite a few Governor's Cups under their belts as well. Skipping down to the last Red -2014 Nebbiolo. Very interesting taste; the card description used the word "leather". Totally needs to be complimented with a hearty red meat like lamb or steak. We then took a personalized tour with the assistant manager. The staff here is really cool. Just nice down to earth people. We strolled through the vineyard, then met up with Dave Collins the wine-maker, who was stirring some white wine potion on the back porch. He explained their process, how the equipment works, it was great! Bring your own cigars if you like as one area on the patio is reserved for smoking. The tasting room offers a variety of fresh bread, crackers, meats, seafood, and cheese for pairing. We got smoked salmon, poppy seed crackers, and herb cheese. Luckily my interest was piqued by an obscure wine not on the tasting, The Russian Kiss, soooo glad I asked to sample this! For me, the biggest win at Big Cork, light and sweet like a Riesling, but still dry in comparison. So we got a bottle of Russian Kiss and The Vidal Ice, it was good if you are into a dessert wine. Super sweet, that was HIS favorite. The non-smoking patio was gorgeous with modern slate grey and white lounge furniture that instantly calls you to take your shoes and a load off. The manager read my mind when she mentioned they were going to put a fire pit out there! Yes-- that would be perfect. Cool breeze, Blue Ridge Mountains, no interruptions, great conversation, and cuddling! What more could a girl ask for? (hmmmm one step at a time) Take aways: Another Bottle of Russian Kiss with goat/fig & cognac cheese All the way lovely
