The food was delicious. I had the Rocketman, my teen had the California Love. We shared an order of fries. Rocketman was solid, the bun was a pillowy delight, egg was cooked to perfection, and the curry ketchup and pickles really brought the whole thing to life. Teen liked her California Love but I didn't try it. We both found the fries good, but not great - we prefer non-battered fries.
The service was very welcoming and friendly. Our fries were forgotten so by the time they arrived at the table and cooled down enough to eat, we were pretty full on our sandwiches. I totally understand that mistakes happen, but we were one of only two parties in the restaurant and at this price point it feels more irksome when stuff like this happens.
Our sandwiches were served on one tray with no plates - the tray was too small for two people to share comfortably, but the food was very drippy and droppy so we uncomfortably shared the tray anyway, so we didn't make a giant mess directly on the tables. Once our fries arrived on a second tray, we thought - yay two trays! But two trays didn't fit comfortably on the teeny tiny table. So eating still felt physically awkward. Again, at this price point I expect more thought to go into the dining experience.
The vibe was fun with fresh colors, an intentionally casual vibe ( graffiti, 90's hip hop that we both vibed on, and TVs playing old cartoons with no sound) that we appreciated. The music was so loud that even my teen with excellent hearing commented that it was hard to have a conversation. As mentioned, super tiny tables.
Menu was displayed on a digital screen that flipped between food menu and coffee menu. With so much info to take in, it was frustrating to have the food menu disappear over and over before we could take it all in. There were printed menus available, but they were right next to the register so we had to push through the party that was ordering in order to access them.
Our total for the two sandwiches, one order of fries, a San Pellegrino (tap water is not an option), a Coke, and a 20% tip was $53.76. Price would feel fair if everything surrounding the food was better executed, but it was one of those dining experiences where you wonder if they really considered the diner's experience, because it felt pretty awkward and uncomfortable to order, eat, and socialize.
Overall, despite really enjoying the food, I won't be rushing back.
