Where to Get Copper River Salmon in Seattle at Markets or Restaurants | Eater Seattle

"I found that Big Fish Grill in Woodinville (with a location in Issaquah) lists Copper River fillets on its takeout menu served with wild rice and blistered asparagus; the menu also includes steamer clams and coconut prawns, and it's open for takeout, delivery, and limited dine-in." - Gabe Guarente

Google
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and service here, and the food was excellent. I especially loved the strawberry lemonade with unlimited refills — so refreshing and energizing!

Google
Are you kidding me!!! I am a food guy, lots of places I enjoy. I don’t review many. This is killer food, we came for lunch and the Coconut Crusted Rock fish is straight 10 out of 10. Make the trip, you won’t regret it. This is all the fish without all the greenbacks! I would have paid double and have paid double for less. Thank you BiG Fish!! By the way the service was excellent!

Google
Tried the scallops and prawns fettuccine and it was awesome! Fresh and filled with lots of seafood! The sauce was incredible! They have the absolute best butter clans as well.

Google
It was my first time at this restaurant. I was surprised it wasn't crowded. The food was well-cooked and everything tasted really good overall. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the service was friendly

Hosein K.

Google
They have variety of seafood and other options. Servers are very nice, however the fish n chips was a bit greasy (which is kinda expected, but to a certain degree).

Went there on Halloween early dinner. This is our second time stop by after long hike up North. The atmosphere was good, service was fast. The most important is the food was delicious. Last time I had the prawn and rice, Suprise myself for empty the plate. This time I had Shrimp and scallop fettuccini, it looks really good. Love the big size seafood, but not salty enough for me. It is kind of too thick, maybe that is just personal preference. I take home add some water loosen up the pasta, easier to eat. The server suggests key-lime pie, didn’t see it on the desert menu, it was really good. Forgot to take photo

Google
The food was absolutely Delicious! The owner Carrie greeted us and seated us and took our first order which was amazing, then Mike stepped in and took the rest of our order. They have a great restaurant from the staff to the food and the drinks were so good.!!

Google
First time there and we were greeted by the super friendly staff, our waitress was awesome with a few recommendations. the food was delicious and it showed that they take pride in presentation and taste! They had gluten free options for me. EXCELLENT

Yelp
Ever get a craving for something that's just hard to find--or even harder to make at home? For me, it's always paella. Thankfully, this spot has it, and it absolutely satisfied the craving. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant--exactly what you'd expect from a well-run seafood chain. The red crab cakes were a standout, especially with that rich, flavorful sauce. My husband ordered the chicken piccata and was instantly smitten. Fair warning: it's heavy on the garlic, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. Overall, the experience was great. The only miss for me was the berry cobbler--it leaned more toward pie territory. Still tasty, just not quite what you'd expect if you're craving a true cobbler.

Yelp
Winter is a delightful hostess and she took my complicated order in person since it's easier to look at the menu in person. She is so sweet and totally got my cheese phobia and gluten intolerance. Pix to follow in my review once I dip into the to go order

Yelp
Was on Woodinville last night after a glass fusing glass with a friend she suggested Big Fish Grill for dinner a place she has been before and enjoyed. They have a fairly large dining area and lounge. Host was friendly and we were immediately greeted upon entry. My friend ordered the paella and I had the Big Fish Cobb Salad. Both dishes were generous with seafood and the seafood was perfectly cooked. The chop salad had salmon, scallops and prawns. I'm glad I said dress on the side cause it usually comes tossed. We also had an order of bread that came out hot. Both dishes were well seasoned. I like a salad with lots of stuff and this had no shortage of items, olives, crumbled blue cheese, avocado, bacon, mushrooms, boiled egg was perfect meal for summer.

Yelp
We had a great dinner. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and made some great menu suggestions. Our dishes were plated beautifully and the flavors were delicious. All the staff were exceptional.

Yelp
We were on a wine country weekend that happened to fall on the women's NCAA championship weekend, so of course we had to find a place to watch the game. Big Fish Grill had a good looking menu and the game on--win-win! The ambiance is sort of Sharis-ish, which IMO takes away from the experience of the food. Our server was GREAT! I didn't catch her name, but friendly with good recommendations and great customer service. The cocktails were pretty good! I had the Oddissee, a version of a Manhattan, which I really enjoyed. My friend had Grapefruit Crush, which made her wish she'd ordered wine. The dynamite shrimp was delicious! Highly recommend! The calamari--skip it. Rubbery and lacking in flavor. I got the shrimp and crab Louie, which I would have liked more if it had had something other than bay shrimp, but there was ample crab. Otherwise, pretty blah. My friend got the Big Fish Cobb, which looked a lot better than mine. I would have liked if garlic bread was on the menu.

Yelp
This is our second dining experience and they did not disappoint. Both times the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and just the right level of noise. The food was the real star of the show. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The halibut and salmon was seasoned to perfection. Easily the best fish house we've been to. They have an excellent bar selection, too! If you're looking for top-quality seafood and a great overall experience, this place is a must-visit. We can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Nune H.

Yelp
Great location, first of all. Lots of free parking around the location and a consistent American franchise vibe on the interior and exterior of the restaurant. Comprehensive menu, cocktails and desserts included. They have a few protein options and daily specials also. Dynamite shrimp is great here, their fish tacos were great too. Pricing is on the upper end of average, portion sizes are good. Overall, service was quite average and a bit slow. But they were nice and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
Service and hospitality is great. No complaints. The food us great. the paella and prime rib were excellent. Best prime rib around here. by far. this placed was well packed, so you know the food is fresh and good. we'll be coming back again and again.

Yelp
We were in town for a wedding and met some family members here after finding this on Yelp. Cassandra was so warm and inviting! We really enjoyed her as our server. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The avocado crab salad was excellent! The two oyster people at the table liked the pan fried oysters. Mom loved her fisherman's stew and the crab Mac and cheese was a big hit. The fish and chips were good, but nothing special. The food came out a little slow, but the decor was nice and the place was very clean.
google avatar

Sharron D.

Yelp
Another awesome exceptional delicious meal. This is a great place for lunch, dinner or anytime. Atmosphere is amazing. The service is 10/10z. General Manager Julian is incredible. Food was so good. Here with clients today while out running their errands. I had salmon and salad. They had fish and chips. Highly recommend this location! Definitely worth the price. Average meals.
google avatar

Janeen M.

Yelp
The food was decent. But Service was slow. Our waiter was plenty helpful with the menu but left us alone too long too often. After his glowing review of the chicken piccata I ordered it. What came was really tasty halibut with a side of really good rice. My husband ordered the fish with chips (cod) which was quite good. Crispy beer batter, not greasy and the fish was light and flaky. Overall the food gets a 4 but service brought it down to a 3 overall.
google avatar

Karl K.

Yelp
My opinion of the Big Fish Grill is starting to slip. Yes. They have an enjoyable menu priced accordingly to being downtown Woodinville. The menu is sized correctly, Big Fish knows what it wants to cook. Yes, the staff is nice, friendly, and willing to stop by the table for a cordial, brief conversation. I noticed that the staff was spending time at all the tables, it was nice to see them engage. No, it wasn't too much time. Yes, the food was fast, fresh, well-seasoned; it was an enjoyable plate of food. Why not 5 stars? Big Fish is starting to show its age. The decor, colors, and design are becoming dated. Update it and it will shine once again.

Yelp
Like sushi, like all kinds of fish, considerate service, enjoy sushi The sweetness of eel, the deliciousness of dumplings, and the chewiness of noodles.

Amy W.

Yelp
So sad. Mothers day family meal .. Either the food received was way under cooked or like the shrimp, difficult to eat it had been on the grill an incredibly long time. Tacos were mush in a pool of water at the bottom of the plate. Reconsider this choice .. .. we won't be going back.

Yelp
1st time coming here and we were not disappointed, everything was absolutely delicious. The owner greeted us at the door, then waited on us, alomh with Mike. Everything fro. The drinks, to tje appetizers to our entrées, all so fresh, hot, flavorful, and absolutely delish we will definitely be back! Thanks for such great service, we came for lunch and it was not crowded which was lovely!

Shari S.

Yelp
We loved our service and the Halibut Tacos were delicious! Best we have ever had. It was such an enjoyable evening and top notch everything. we were very taken care of.

Yelp
Have been here twice now, second time being yesterday evening for our 9 year anniversary dinner. :) Had a very enjoyable experience, and I always appreciate the atmosphere. It is very upscale laid back, if you will. We had the Caesar salad, crab cakes, seafood jambalaya and the salmon special of grilled wild sockeye topped with crab meat. All selections were very tasty but I am picky about crab cakes and wish they were slightly more crisp. Otherwise, everything tasted fantastic. My husband said the jambalaya broth tasted too strongly of andouille sausage and not enough seafood flavor but I happened to love the flavor and kept stealing spoonfuls. We do plan to return and not just for special occasions but as a quiet date night every now and again. Oh, and BEST SOURDOUGH EVER.

Yelp
Kind of don't want to leave a review so this place won't get more crowded but have to give credit to this place. Every time I've been there the service was phenomenal and food pretty good. Love the dressing used on the salmon salad. They provide plenty of crayons for kids to color and are quick with orders. Ambiance is nice too. The times I've been there were usually during the quitter moments with mellow music.

Yelp
Cassidy was our server/bartender and she was great! Nice and not overbearing service. Came in for a yummy dinner Friday. Started with a Martini and a Beer for us - drinks were delicious. Lavender Lemon drop is a for sure staple when we come back again. The dynamite shrimp were a great starter - perfect amount for two to share. Dinner was fantastic. I had the Crab Cakes - they were cooked so perfect and the rice was delicious. Also I'm not sure what they put on the Broccoli but it was cooked so perfect and tasted delicious. My date had the Wagyu mixed burger and added bacon and cheese. He said it was absolutely delicious. The fries he mentioned were "perfect". I couldn't agree more - they were hands down some of the best fries I have ever had! YUM. Overall great experience and great food! Thanks and see you guys again!

Yelp
My husband and I got takeout from this place for lunch yesterday, and we both really enjoyed our food. We got the Spinach Artichoke Dip with Tortilla Chips for our Appetizer. The tri-color chips were crisp, thick, and warm, and not overly greasy. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was creamy, warm, and very flavorful. We did run out of chips before we ran out of Artichoke Dip, but we liked the dip so much that we found some crackers in the cupboard so that we could finish eating the dip. My husband got the Grilled Chicken Pesto Sandwich for his entree, and he really liked it. I got the Big Cobb Salad for my entree, and I loved it. The vinaigrette dressing tasted really good (although there wasn't quite enough of it included in our to-go bag), and everything was super fresh. There was a good-sized portion of salmon, 2 prawns, 2 scallops, an avocado, black olives, mushrooms, bleu cheese crumbles, and a hard-boiled egg on my salad. Great combination of flavors. We're both very happy with this place, and we would definitely go here again for lunch or possibly dinner.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant. One of our favorites. We love Cassidy, the waitress in the lounge. Best Crab & Shrimp Louie ever. It is amazing. Worth it to order the extra crab and the avacado.
google avatar

Yelp
A friend and I went for a walk on the Burke-Gilman Trail with Big Fish Grill as our destination point. We got there in time for happy hour, sat in the bar, and were welcomed by a cheerful young woman who greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. We had a delicious cocktail (a classic Mojito, and a Huckleberry Basil Mule,) shared an order of coconut prawns, then each ordered fish tacos. I have some food intolerances and often a bit wary when eating out, but my dinner was delicious and didn't include any of the foods I asked them to omit. I appreciate a restaurant where staff is engaging, the food and drink are tasty, and the atmosphere is fun. I'll be going back!
google avatar

Cynthia H.

Yelp
It took 45 minutes to get our appetizer that was over cooked and honestly tasted bad for seafood. We love food and are full of Grace but this was a huge disappointment Denny's of seafood
google avatar

Manny D.

Yelp
As I say been there and done it ! It was very disappointing event from drinks to foods. Foods was bland no taste , it seem it came from an frozen prepackaged halibut ? I had better ! What establishments doesn't take Discover Card? That was new , upon paying my dinner , I was told they don't take discover card as form of payment! As we order our dessert , Apple crisp with vanilla ice cream , sound good right? Well we informed they didn't have vanilla ice cream !! What ? Am like WTF? So never ever going to step into place again!

Yelp
Mom and I were at Molbaks (the plant nursery down the street) and decided we were starving and wanted fish. Having never been to Big Fish we decided to give it a try. Glad we did. We both ordered Fish N Chips, she had halibut, I had salmon. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was delicious. She loved her halibut and I loved my salmon. Fish N Chips come in three options; cod, halibut or salmon. The pieces were large; she received 3 halibut, I received 4 salmon, (I'm guessing because halibut is more expensive). The French fries were delicious and so was the tarter sauce. Our server was wonderful, he was perfectly attentive and friendly without being there too much and without being overly or obviously falsely friendly. Overall a 5 star experience and we will most definitely be back.
google avatar

Christy T.

Yelp
I'm only giving three stars for the service, our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and gave just the right amount of service. The food however: Parmesan crusted halibut: tasted like a pre-breaded frozen filet you get at the grocery store, cooked more consistent to fish and chips than flaky halibut. The asparagus was extremely overcooked, very wilted. Jambalaya: also definitely a premixed US foods exclusive, bland and boring. Didn't even finish it. Grilled artichoke appetizer: not too bad because it was just a grilled artichoke soaking in butter, but maybe a little too much butter, they give you wet wipes with them so it's not like they don't know. Brussel sprout appetizer: this was the only really good thing, very simple but great flavor. We chose this place because we were headed to a movie and it was close. Like I said the service was GREAT, but when the food is this quality, why go back. I mean the whole point of a restaurant is to EAT there, right?
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour, and so glad we did! Happy hour is daily and they also have reverse happy hour 9pm to close. We ordered drinks and HH Dynamite shrimp,m to share. I got Pork sliders, and my fiancé ordered the grilled avocado crab salad. I loved my sliders, but my fiancé was so sad with what the salad turned out to be - mainly because my fiancé was expecting crab salad with grilled avocado on top instead of a small portion of crab in the pit hole of an avocado that is grilled (See photos below just so you aren't surprised) The HH drink specials were good for the signature cocktails, but the specifics of the specials weren't explained clearly to us - it's only $2 off on the signature cocktails NOT the classic. All the drinks were good, but I would have tried other drinks eligible for happy hour since those looked good too. Apparently ladies night on Thursday is where it's at too - $5 cocktail specials!
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed the food, the service and very honest people. When I had accidentally left my credit card at this business I retraced my steps and came back several days later. After a photo ID check and a quick scan on the back they had my card secured. Without a doubt honest companies will always have my business. I'll continue to frequent this business and advise my business lunches and dinners that we dine at your establishment!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Had lunch at the Big Fish Grill and Cassidy was our hostess and server. The beverages were outstanding my parents had the wine and I had an old fashioned that was pretty good. The food was excellent and the service was also really good. Cassidy was super nice and sincerely friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Excellent all the way around.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
It can't get five stars because it's not "fine dining." But this place is satisfying. We opted for sitting in the bar section. There must have been 8 tables in use at the time, happy hour on a weekday. All of them occupied by boomers like us. We tried to use the free appetizer coupon in this yelp app but sadly, it expired in 2020. The waitress said she'd honor it but forgot when the bill came. We shared the scallop and shrimp pesto pasta. There was plenty to share and tasty with perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp. Unfortunately we found a long blond hair buried in the pasta. We pulled it out and set it aside to show the server. It happens and didn't stop us from enjoying the rest and take leftovers home. The server took it off our bill. We went on Wednesday so we expected 30% off the wine. Our server was unaware of the promotion even though it's on their website. Instead she said we will get $10 off the bottle because of happy hour. The discount was essentially the same so we didn't bother correcting her. All in all we enjoyed the food and service even with all the hiccups. I'll go back just for the dynamite shrimp, particularly for happy hour.
google avatar

Kellie S.

Yelp
Salad with pear (I asked to chane from blue cheese to goat cheese)was so good, but crab cake from appetizer options was so salty. I couldn't taste crab. Just taste bread and very salty.
google avatar

Barry C.

Yelp
Walked in on a Friday night after the movies we were expecting there may be some sort of wait. When we walked in we noticed the dining room was only half full so we figured we may be seated quickly. After checking in, we were informed the wait would be 25-30 minutes. Figured the tables must be reserved for dinners since we came in at 6:15pm. After 30 minutes we were seated. Server was friendly and engaging. I settled for the special which was the hazelnut crusted halibut with a blackberry/blueberry compote with grilled asparagus and a seasoned rice along with a starter pear and blue cheese salad. The salad was decent. I would have preferred chunks of pears rather than large slices of pears. If you take dice up the Romain, might as well make the pears the same size to keep everything consistent. The salad was a little bit overdressed, but flavors worked. Nothing like the combination of nuts, pear, goat cheese and a light vinaigrette. The halibut was great. The hazelnut crust was crispy, the halibut was moist and hot and the compote added a nice touch to the dish. The rice was ok. Kind of plain Jane and obvious it sits in a heat tray and would rather they serve it with some potatoes or pilaf. The asparagus was sub par. My kids #2 pencils has more size to the asparagus they offered. It's a crime to serve spaghetti thin asparagus and had I known, probably would have asked to substitute for the season vegetable. Oh yeah, by the time we finished dinner around 8:15, the same empty tables around us remained empty. I am not sure what the reason the restaurant had to keep all the tables open when there are no reservations (or everyone no-showed). There were customers walking away due to the wait. You would think a restaurant wants to occupy all tables at dinner service. Overall, i would come again, but next time make a reservation.

Yelp
Review from my kid: I went here with my family because we were hungry. At first we just thought that this was a normal restaurant but as we tried the food we were Amazed. 10/10

Amy P.

Yelp
Food was good, basic. Ordered a glass of wine and individual clearing the table knocked it over breaking the full glass of wine. No apologies but was asked if I wanted a new one. I declined and just said to get a credit for the wine. The broken glass was NOT cleared, and we had to clean it up with napkins leaving small shards of glass on the table. When the bill arrived, we were charged for the broken glass of wine. Very disappointed, not worth returning.

Yelp
First time here and we enjoyed our meal and the service. Surprised we didn't get offered bread but we had a really nice spinach dip appetizer instead . Decent menu and large portions . The big fish Cobb salad was interesting . The jumbo prawn skewers was delicious. As was the seared scallops and prawn pesto fettuccine. Service of food was fast ! We sat inside ... would have preferred outside.

Jackie V.

Yelp
Fantastic evening meal--salad with scallops, shrimp, and salmon. Had the lighter dressing and it was a fabulous, filling meal. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Nearly killed my toddler!! We ordered a children's salmon fillet and they did not check it first for pin bones! We found FOUR! As I'm sure you're aware, this is a huge choking hazard and especially bad for children. I alerted the manager who then spoke with the kitchen staff. WHEN SHE RETURNED SHE SAID IT WASN'T A BIG DEAL!!! I explained the problem in greater detail. She ended up taking the item off the bill and gave us a token gift card. She also took my email address and said the owner/GM would reach out to me the next day. It has been 2 weeks and I've heard nothing, so I'm posting the review. Please avoid this place. Thankfully my child was fine, but it could've been much worse. And it was due to to gross negligence. I'm absolutely not a litigious person, but if they hurt my child...

Linda P.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice and have had the halibut fish and chips both times (since I liked them so much the first time) The fish is perfectly cooked, tender and not over done, with a wonderfully crispy beer batter that is not too thick, letting the fish taste shine. Fries are crispy and cole slaw is fresh. My first Pinot and my second time Bloody Mary were also good. Both of my servers were very nice, friendly, and efficient and waiting time was minimal. The restaurant was clean with a nice, quiet atmosphere. I will definitely return! I will definitely return.
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
The food here is consistent and reasonably priced. Also delicious!!!! Highly recommended.
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
Fresh sourdough bread and butter. Crab cakes: very good, good balance of crab and cake. The sauces with it were unique and yummy....a yellow spicy one and a creamy bacon? flavored one (no bacon). Spicy/firecracker shrimp appetizer: WOW! We will definitely get that again. Right amount of spice and not over-battered. Jambalaya: 2 kinds of fish, shrimp with tails on, andouille sausage, & chicken. It was really fresh and tasty. Right amount of rice and soup; not too spicy, heat wise. I also ordered sour cream and avocado to go on top. I probably won't get it again bc I'm not a fan of fish in my soup. Blackened fish tacos: comes with black beans and 2 tacos, double wrapped with corn tortillas. It was kinda small, but he wasn't complaining. They also serve great mojito mocktails.

Tony E.

Yelp
Ordered delivery. Tiny cup of clam chowder was $9. Crab cakes had very little crab. Caesar salad not super fresh. Don't waste your money here. Ivar's in honestly better.
google avatar

Eldridge M.

Yelp
Absolutely love getting take out here. I had the jambalaya and it was perfect. My wife had the clam chowder, crab cakes and Pear Pecan salad. We used a delivery service and the drop off was handled perfectly. I definitely recommend it and can't wait to come back in person.
google avatar

Lola G.

Yelp
Great bloody Mary's and pretty good food. Service staff was friendly. Our food took a little while to get there but it was a holiday. Ambiance was casual and on the dimmer side as far as lighting goes.

Liz L.

Yelp
This was our first and will be our last time ordering from here. We ordered 2 ALASKAN HALIBUT FISH 'N' CHIPS, calamari, and a cup of clam chowder to go. I wish we didn't waste our money. There were 3 little pieces of halibut that were under seasoned on a small cup of limp fries, definitely not worth $22. Then there was the calamari, zero color!! Not even sure it was fried at all. Very VERY underwhelming! Don't be dumb like us and waste $75 for nothing!
google avatar

Sonu L.

Yelp
Really good food , nice people and everything is predictable Would totally go back They are definitely checking for vaccination cards and following state guidelines
google avatar

Charles J.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff, but their Yelp check-in offers expired in 2020, and are not honored.
google avatar

Teressa L.

Yelp
Came for lunch on a weekend before the holiday. Not too busy but service was slow at times. Had the Crab/avocado appetizer. This is excellent and I could have made a meal on it alone. Daughter wanted something no longer on the menu. I wish they would mark it out or announce that kind of thing immediately. She changed to halibut tacos. They were ok. Beans were just ok. Nothing spectacular and she didn't even finish it. I had a bowl of clam chowder. it was good and plenty full of potatoes and clams. Had to wait to get water refills. Not a bad meal, I would return to try more items on the menu when in the area.

Honesty Z.

Yelp
mediocre food. horrible services. I ordered the grilled salmon and clam chowder. both items are just ok. nothing special. the waiters / waitresses were rude. horrible services. I will never go back that establishment.
google avatar

Jan C.

Yelp
The good news is that they get the importance of good service. The not-so-good news is that the food needs a little work and they do some unnecessary nickel and diming. The salmon BLT was fine, but could use more flavor, with basic sweet potato waffle fries. The black bean burger was decent , but it was a bit overdone and the bun was not very soft/fresh. What I do not understand is why they charge $6 to sub a salad for the fries. The drinks were good and the atmosphere is nice. Subdued lighting, a bit of a club atmosphere.
