Even though the Big Green Egg is not, strictly speaking, a dining establishment, it is a world class place to eat if you are willing to work! The Boot Camp course I took was a crash course in using the Big Green Egg grills, cooking, ingredients. All instructors are specialty professionals for each item. Thirty students taught by 10 processional chefs make eight dishes during an 8 hour class. Grilling and smoking ribs, hams, salmon. We made pizzas, deserts, breakfast biscuits. It is a multicourse, 8 hours of cooking, then sampling items made by the class. We broke into three 10 person teams to grill, make jambalaya, pies, and pizzas. I learned not only how to cook, but how to control grilling heat including multi-hour smoking and steaks. I also learned how to use wood and salt planks. The recipes are included. There is plenty of opportunity to shop for the Green Egg and the multitude of accessories. I got this as a Christmas Present and am now an acolyte in the Big Green Egg Cult! I highly recommend this as a crash course in cooking, a fun day of great dining as well!
This is absolutely a world class experience! Book in advance, as the multitude of courses are popular, as listed on the Big Green Egg website. Though most participants are local to Atlanta, many others came from all over the US. They also pitched local farm products, all by the owners who are passionate themselves.
