Tried to celebrate my birthday with my husband here. Server didn’t acknowledge the child we brought with nor wish me happy birthday. Cheese curds took 30 minutes and arrived cold. It wasn’t busy. Replacement took about 5 min and was delicious yet pricey for the amount. My husband liked his CBLT. My pork chops were so dry they were hard to cut, chew, and swallow. Mac and cheese was good, baked beans average. Server ignored our table despite walking by repeatedly. The best part of the meal was the free whiskey bread pudding we got for giving a 5 star review on here. Thankfully I can edit my review to make it honest now that we’ve left. I would never go back. It’s concerning they offer $10 dessert free in exchange for a 5 star review. Do a better job and you won’t have to bribe customers.

On our way back from vacation, we were really in the mood for some classic BBQ, so we did a little research and found a spot with pretty good reviews. The vibes seemed promising when we walked in, but that’s where the positives die. We were seated at a dirty booth that we had to clean ourselves, and there were flies landing on us. We ordered a pound of brisket along with mac and coleslaw, and while the food arrived quickly, it looked pretty unappetizing. The brisket was DRY/TOUGH and chewy, with thick hard chunks of fat, while the mac was served cold. Both slaws were sad, especially the classic one, which had an odd fishy taste. It’s a shame because we really wanted to enjoy some good BBQ, but this place just didn’t deliver. Our service was okay but nothing that could have saved the experience.

Google
Another amazing spot I keep coming back to — and I can’t stop telling my friends about it! If you’re craving BBQ, this is the place. The half platter (pictured) has it all, and I’m drooling just writing this review. The cornbread with honey butter sauce is unbelievably good, the brisket is juicy with that perfect smoky flavor, and the Asian green beans are my absolute favorite. The candied bacon is sweet, smoky, and thick — just the way I like it. And the beans… well, I’ll just stop there. I happily drive 1.5 hours to eat here. Highly recommend 100%!

Google
We wanted some food but arrived too late, so I can't review the food. The restaurant is huge!! Great place to party and have a great time. Live bands and outdoor tents = fun. The service was good. We'll be back to try the BBQ!

Gary S.

Google
This place is huge and serves big portions of delicious smoked prime rib And ribs. Very friendly staff. Will have to come back Brisket and sweet potatoe fries are awesome

Google
What a place! Such a friendly welcoming atmosphere and that the only the beginning! You order the food and then starts an adventure of great, great tastes! So good, really outstanding.

Google
Great BBQ restaurant with a Texas Roadhouse feel. Food was great. Order the cornbread and the Mac n cheese as sides to share. Tonight it was pulled pork or Chicken sandwich with fries for $8 - look for the daily specials or go with the main menu which has some great bbq classics.

Google
We came for a late lunch and it was worth the mini-trek. Plenty of parking on-site and both and bar and dining areas are spacious and welcoming. We ordered the candied bacon and burnt ends to start; the bacon was phenomenal. The burnt ends weren’t AS burnt as I usually like :) but they were still very delicious. We also ordered jalapeño poppers, Cajun sirloin (sides Mac and cheese and dirty rice), and the smoked meatloaf (sides beans and mashed potatoes and gravy). The sirloin was so tender. You wouldn’t have guessed it was a sirloin. The meatloaf was incredible; and the poppers were that good homemade type of popper with an actual jalapeño half wrapped in bacon. We’ll definitely be back to try more things from the menu

Yelp
Service, food, and drinks Attractive, rustic ambiance. I have nothing but positives to add.

Yelp
This is the place to be! I went on a Sunday morning/afternoon but will definitely be back. Owner Jethro was around and he and wife Amy, as well as GM Matt and staff run a fun, welcoming, and classy environment! I tried some new menu items that will be out on Friday, November 14th. They are also working on a gift pack for the holidays of their sauces and rubs! The candied bacon is THEE best I've ever had! Cocktails were spot on and you've gotta get the bloody! Whiskey Bread Pudding??? SOLD!

Yelp
Yum! We got the $100 meat and side platter. Wayyy too much food for 3 people hahaha, but the leftovers were decent! Loved the mac and cheese and sweet potato fries!! Fun spot too, great for larger groups. Friendly service.

Jon J.

Yelp
I ordered the cheese curds as my appetizer while I waited for me meal to take home. The cheese curds were a 3/10. The cheese had exploded out of the batter and the batter was hollow, no cheese. I brought the meal home, I ordered the 1lb of brisket, 3/4 of it was fat!!!!!! I had to search for me at, Arby's has 10 times better brisket at a 1/4 of the price. The baked beans were the saving grace, the dirty rice was fresh from a box and the Cole slaw was ok.

Yelp
This place is a must if you're in the area! If you like meat, this is your place! Ella, our server, was awesome and we even got an appetizer and a beer for free. Lots of sports on the many TVs also. Don't expect a lot of healthy food, though I did get a great side "super"salad!

Cathy W.

Yelp
Home town feel great people and service. A great destination . Not often you get this kind of place to go to. Genuine people here!

Glenn O.

Yelp
The food is great, service is friendly and fast, portions generous, and prices decent. I love their pulled pork sandwich, spicy Szechuan green beans, and corn bread. I'm getting really hungry just writing this review. Gotta run to get something to eat. In fact, we are bringing our daughter and grandsons to Big Guys today for lunch.

Yelp
Great food, awesome staff, cool roadhouse theme. We drove a little over an hour and we will definitely be back again

Yelp
Was recommended by co workers to go here. Visited, unfortunately, on Father's Day. Place was super packed. Waitress was doing her best to be efficient. Plenty of space for big parties. The big let down was the establishment was ONLY serving a buffet for Fathers Day. Good thing: was there was an immense selection!! Bad thing: It was expensive. I wished I had known that they were only serving buffet. My wife and I don't dine to that extent and we traveled 45 minutes to get there.

Yelp
Average food and service. They forgot my food until everyone else at the table finished their meal.

Yelp
Stopped in Sunday afternoon for a live music gig/charity benefit. I appreciated that when I entered and asked the host while pointing to the right "will the band being playing in there?" when a server came to lead me to a table "here, I'll try to get you as close to the music as I can." Well, that was very courteous and appreciated! I forget what the other sandwich I asked my server about, maybe some sort of chicken wrap? He confidently said he would do the pulled meat sandwich, and specified chicken. I took his advice....and did not regret it!! I opted for the side of coleslaw, as I tend to out it on barbeque sandwiches when I have them. It paired deliciously. I only opted for water this visit but next visit I will definitely be opting for the 45th Parallel Whiskey Flight or the Strawberry Old Fashioned! Parking was easy in their gravel lot. I appreciated that each table had a small pitcher on it, that held silverware & a plethora of napkins... can never have too many napkins! I have driven by Big Guy's dozens of times....always curious... Glad the music act brought me in today. At Oliphant yesterday a local told me I need to go back and he instructed me with what to order for his favorite meal. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the red/white tablecloths brought the nostalgia of camping growing up. Thanks Big Guys for a delicious meal served by friendly staff and stirring up some nostalgia, cheers!

Tracie B.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Generous serving sizes. Wait staff is amazing. Fun atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp

Yelp
I have to bump them up a notch - Big Guys is a solid 4 stars! I've been back several times since my first visit and review over 3 years ago. I'm bumping them up a star based on the average of all my visits. Other than a couple of glitches, the food has always been great. And other than one time, the service has been good. Minor stuff though. Overall, Big Guys does a great job. LOW CARB: It's relatively easy to eat low carbohydrate carnivore style at Big Guys. Unfortunately, if you order a meal of any kind, you have to get sides and all of the sides are plant based. So if you go that route, you'll be giving away your plant sides. If you want meat without any carbohydrates whatsoever...you have to go with an appetizer or multiple appetizers...which is what I did. I got a basket of bacon appetizer and a sausage medallions appetizer and they were great. My only regret is that Big Guys doesn't sell their meats by the pound, like many BBQ joints. So if I could wave a magic wand and change anything about them it would be this: Please add the option of buying meats by the pound (without sides). I'd definitely order by the pound and I'd also buy an extra pound or two to take home. Big Guys is a solid performer. I have no problem recommending them. And I'd go back again any time. Thanks for another good experience, Big Guys! -Maxx

Yelp
This was our second visit to Big Guy's and our first for breakfast. The service was ok, didn't check back terribly often or offer to refill our water. The brisket omelet was amazing, I wish we both would've gotten it. The toast had definitely been sitting while the rest of the food was being prepared and was cold. The eggs Benedict is not served with any meat on it at all, not even ham. You have to add ham and you also have the option to add brisket or pulled ribs. The hashbrowns were undercooked with is just how I like them so no complaints from me there. Like my husband said, you gotta get BBQ if you go to a BBQ place and he was definitely right on that one, I would stick to the BBQ staples, even at breakfast time.

Carrie W.

Yelp
The food is great!! The service is great. Nice parking area and nice patio area. Over all great place to eat with the family

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Food was fabulous, service was great and love the band!! Wonderful family friendly restaurant

Yelp
Great food and service. Bacon awesome. Ribs awesome. Kid friendly too. Would like to see an expanded bourbon/whiskey selection

Leanna D.

Yelp
This place is really hit or miss. The first time we went everything was amazing. I had the prime sandwich and my mom had the ribs so good. The time after that the ribs were burnt and dry and whatever I had was not good. Last time the prime sandwich was half the size it was the first time and extremely fatty. My mom had to send back her ribs and the new ones were fine. I def would make sure to speak up if food is mediocre bc the food is good if it's made right. And get the Mac and cheese taco. It was maybe the best thing in the menu.

Jamie C.

Yelp
Great place for bbq. Plenty of service workers. Truly a hidden gem inside and outside

Connie G.

Yelp
The food was very good! We sat outside on the patio. The staff was very accommodating to a group of 9 including a dog, 2 kids and a baby. Or server was great and attentive.

Yelp
This little hidden gem in Hudson, WI (on the north side). They specialize in BBQ is an understatement. They have an extensive menu that should make everyone healthy. They even note gfree and vegan dishes. The place is Huge! Great place for large parties too. They even have some games for kids like pinball, the ducky claw machine and others. Some days they even have meat raffles and special events. I've been to this place a lot. Happens to be one of my in-laws fav places and not because it's close to them. This evening, I had the shrimp special (on skewers with bell peppers) and cilantro rice. I also had their hot chocolate cocktail due to the extreme cold temps. Other people in our party had: tots, a Cuban sandwich, chicken sandwich/burger etc...this place also has tons of tvs for watching football games (they are a packers bar...boo!). We'll be back!

Shelley G.

Yelp
Quickly seated even with a full lot of cars outside. Friendly service. Cold drinks warm food! Amazing Pork Chop Dinner! Casual atmosphere with Bar side seating and dining area. Live music was setting up on dining side stage.

Yelp
Great breakfast and bloody Mary's. Very tasty smoked pork chops on Sunday. Check out the live band schedule for a fun evening.

Yelp
This place! Oh man, where do I start??? We had a group party of 16 and they offered a FREE bus ride to and from. Considering my group is based in Edina, that's no small feat. I guess they offer this to all reserved parties that can fill the bus (see attached picture of said bus). Then when you get there (we arrived at noon on a Saturday) you have your choice of brunch or dinner. The obvious choice is BOTH, so that's what we did. BBQ smoked pork and beef is their jam. They used it on most entrees. Full bar here too. The candy cane drink was delish and I'm not a sweet drink guy. I preceded that drink with a Bloody Mary. Notable for its candied bacon garnish. I could make an entire meal out of that bacon. The vodka was just a bonus to go with it.

Yelp
I went for dinner and bingo last Tuesday. I ordered French onion soup and a side salad. My soup came with a piece of paper under cheese layer. The server took the soup back to kitchen and sent the manager over. The manager assured me i wouldn't be charged for the soup, which i wasn't. But I never received another bowl of soup. Very odd. When i received my bill, i was only charged for the salad but I had a $.50 charge for salad dressing. I think it is odd dressing doesn't come with the salad. I paid my bill, didn't feel like discussing it with the server. I did however contact the restaurant thru their website about the extra charge for dressing. No response from the restaurant which leads me to believe they don't care. Bummer. Will not return.

Yelp
Great food, famous and fabulous staff with a great location. Our service is always great. Fun place and fun people. The breakfast is very good.

Yelp
Food was good Service Great Nice environment Will be going back again. Just got another gift card so I guess we will be visiting big guys again soon.

Yelp
Guess it has been a barbecue kind of month as this was our second stop for barbecue. It was our first trip to Big Guys and I'd say it was pretty mediocre. The food had highs and lows. Starting with the reason we go for barbecue, the meat, we really loved the burnt ends. Some pieces melted in your mouth while others were almost crunchy and had a beef jerky quality to them. The mixture of white sauce(horseradish I believe) with barbecue sauce was plate licking good. From there I'd say things went downhill in the meat department. The brisket was very fatty and stringy like roast. I prefer thinly sliced lean brisket so not my style but I think I was more disappointed in the amount and sheer oz of fat I paid for. Pulled pork was decent but nothing special and that's how I felt about the sides as well. Fries were pretty soggy and the seasoning was not our cup of tea having way too much sweetness. Mac and cheese was decent. Enjoyed the green beans but be warned the Szechuan ones are very spicy which I counted as a plus. My fiancé loved the smoked coleslaw but I found it a bit bland. With a large bar area and tons of seating inside and out I can imagine the place gets pretty loud in the evenings. Only 2 options for bbq sauce was yet another mediocrity. Very understaffed on a Sunday afternoon and our server struggled to keep up. I don't think anyone would be disappointed by Big Guys but it lacks much upside from just a mediocre meal.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Great ambience for bbq, excellent service, outstanding bbq ribs, delicious candied bacon appetizer, and terrific bloody Mary.

Dale N.

Yelp
disappointed in this restaurant when we got there was nobody there to . And then guy came through the menus down told us we only had till 5 very nice the way he said it because he had bingo that night. Was not happy with the food that we got the only thing nice was the waiter was very nice to us.

Yelp
Delicious food and fun to boot...great service, always a fabulous experience. So grateful to have such an awesome place to get good ribs here in the North land.

Yelp
Always great food and service. Fun atmosphere and lots of events to entertain you. Best BBQ in the area.

Yelp
We have a get together with friends 9 of us) twice a year and thought Big Guys would be a nice change if pace. It was a change. First if all our waitress did the best she could with the support she got from the kitchen. Our food was at best lukewarm warm and 2 people didn't get served until more than 10 minutes after everyone else. They were out of chicken? It's in the menu. How does that happen? One of our group ordered French onion soup to go for an ill partner. The kitchen had to make some. If it's on the menu shouldn't it be ready? He finally got it after asking several times when we were ready to leave. Unhappy retired chef. The food was hit and miss. I had ribs, mac and cheese and Szechwan green beans. The mac was cold. The ribs tasted ok but once again lukewarm warm. I also got the impression that the ribs were not from that day. The beans were actually hot but zero seasoning. My friend got burnt ends and tots. Burnt ends were good but not hot and the tots were definitely overcooked. Nobody in our group was impressed with the food. Mediocre at best. As for the dining area, it was cold. People were going out to their vehicles for jackets or sweaters and not just at our table. One of our group asked if something could be done about the temp. The person he asked said they would see what they could do. Apparently that was nothing. We may have stayed for a cocktail or two after dinner but it was just too cold. We were talking in the parking lot and we all decided that we won't be back. Oh the bacon is good.

Yelp
We continue to give this place another chance . The service is always lacking. The vibe is energetic, but the staff lacks training. The food just ok. I like St. Louis style ribs, but these are dry over done. This was our last visit. I wish them well.

Mackenzie N.

Yelp
Smoked pastrami sandwich was amazing! Great specials. Amazing service! Thanks Daja! Very attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Great fun and I love the free Line dancing on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.

Linda H.

Yelp
Extremely loud, could hardly talk with friends. waitress was great, 3 drink order mistakes were by bartender, not her. Cheese curds app was not good, must have been the bottom of the bag , just tiny breaded chunks where you couldn't find or taste the cheese. Stroganoff special was nothing but rotini noodles, but friends chef salad was very good. Ribs were ok. Very disappointing.

Yelp
My wife and I went to Sam's Christmas Village tonight to see the 1 million lights. It was cool enough and worth the hour drive. When we were done we were both hungry and craving BBQ. I'm a big guy. So I thought we'd try Big Guy's BBQ. The establishment itself is huge. A full bar area and a full dining area. I bet they seat over 100 easily. It is quiet enough for a good conversation, with music loud enough to still hear. It seems like a great place to hangout. The ribs were fine. Really they were 3 of 5. They weren't tough, but they also weren't super tender. The bbq sauce is lacking something. The beans were so spicy that I had to order ice cream afterwards, before my tongue fell out. My wife's brisket was ok. Also 3 of 5. They said they were fatty, but these were crazy fatty. Overall though I really liked this place and would happily come back to try something else.

Yelp
Great food! The atmosphere here is relaxed, friendly and inviting. Excellent wait-staff and super quick service! Fun place!

Shannon G.

Yelp
Amy is awesome - easy to work with very accommodating. We had catered the pulled pork, beans and potato salad for my son's graduation party. Everyone was impressed and thrilled with the food. We even shared the BBQ love with a local fire department and they were in heaven !! Wonderful experience...we'll be back!

Yelp
Hello We hit up Big Guy's on the way back to MN. We had to go one other time. I would love to rate then higher but the BBQ is good its not knock your socks off. I really feel an all day brisket should almost fall apart. Mine was tough. The smoke flavor is good. I would love to see another bbq sauce option. Maybe a chipotle bbq or Alabama White! And we have ordered the burnt end but come out about 1/4 fat burned ends. In KC they trim that off. Wait staff was good and i can see this place being fun! Just needs a little step up!
google avatar

Bonny C.

Yelp
All great! The food, the service, and the ambiance. We were there last night. I ordered the Gouda Mac and cheese with brisket, so good! Love this! Bartender knows how to make a great drink too. I will be back! Plenty of parking too!

Yelp
This is our "go to" place. All of the food we have tried has been amazing. The ribs are smoked and fall of the bone. Smoky Slaw is great and the green beans are always fresh. Highly recommend for any occasion!
