"Head to Big Hole BBQ to hang out at a rowdy sports bar, sip a $2 PBR, and eat some top-notch barbecue. We’re always torn between the tender smoked chicken, brisket, or pork, so we usually just order one of each in slider form. The housemade mac and cheese is big enough for a meal itself but also works as a bed for a helping of brisket. The whole thing is supremely cheesy, covered with a crunchy breadcrumb topping, and by far the best side." - Lanie Brice

Stopped in here with some coworkers for dinner. It's a neat spot with fun decor and a good vibe. The workers sat our table of 9 pretty quickly, they were very nice & very accommodating to our unannounced large party. I enjoyed the half rack with baked beans & Mac & cheese. Everything was really good but the beans were great. They also have a great selection of beer, mostly local, which is great. All of my coworkers enjoyed their meals too, not a single complaint from our party. Definitely a really cool 0lace to stop in to and enjoy some good food while you're visiting.

Walked in around 8:30 during the week for a good dinner. Mac and cheese was good. Ribs were delicious. They offer two bbqs to add as much as you’d like. The sauces were a little thin but still had good flavor. Beer options and drink options available.

Google
5 star for the brisket sandwich. The only thing can be better its pricing, if you order a salad its around $17 plus $8 for chicken and you will have a $25 south west chicken salad. Compare with others restaurant I think its not a good option. Anyway the food have a good taste and I can come back for more brisket.

Google
We thoroughly enjoyed this place, one of the better places we ate at during our stay. I highly recommend the big hole burger and the chicken wings (I got spicy BBQ)! The fried pickle chips are good too! You get a lot of food for the price you pay.

First time in Jackson, and I decided on BBQ for tonight and went to Big Hole BBQ. For starters had the burnt ends, the flavors was fine but far from "burnt" ends. It was just some sliced fatty brisket tossed in some BBQ sauce. Next was the combo platter with the pork and beef brisket with mac n cheese and coleslaw for sides. Sides were okay, nothing to write home about. Next, the meat alleged highlight of the meal. Let's just say I was disappointed. The pork and brisket were very dry, bland with taste, and not completely smoked. I was hoping for more but left disappointed. Well, the bonus is my dogs get some leftovers (majority of the dinner). Please try somewhere else first!

Google
Pulled pork and beef brisket alone are pretty darn dry, when eating, be generous with the sauce. We got nachos with no add-ons. It's okay. Overall, okay spot. 50/50 would dine again if in town.

Joseph Peterson

Google
Git the ribsand brisket with baked beans and Mac n cheese. The ribs were thick and meaty, brisket was good but the Mac n cheese and baked beans were mediocre. Wife got the pulled pork taco. Over all not too bad for the price paid.

Google
We were pleased and fortunate to find this spot on our way back from Yellowstone! The best way how to finish our trip was to find this awesome spot! Hard to say what was better, food or service. I remember Mary who was helping us , she was very nice and helpful to choose from variety of food they offer, smiling all the time and making our experience exceptional for such a good price! Hands down , please go there and enjoy!

Yelp
Stopped here with a couple friends, got the hot wings, big hole burger, Cuban Sammy, and the Philly. Food was great and wasn't too busy. My only bone to pick was the fries I got were about room temperature and the spicy bbq really wasn't that spicy. All in all I would def suggest stopping by if you want some good bbq for $15-$20 a plate.

Stuart K.

Yelp
Went here twice it was so nice! We had the burnt ends, ribs and brisket sandwiches. The ribs were the very best we have ever had ANYWHERE! All were excellent. Very friendly staff. Place is nice and clean. Good drinks too!

Sean k.

Yelp
Great bbq with friendly service. The waiter was great with suggestions and food came out pretty quickly. The ribs and brisket were excellent. Chicken was good too. Great onion rings! Thanks for a great experience!

Timothy W.

Yelp
I ordered the ribs and brisket combo. Four big juicy slices of brisket and four big tender ribs. This is some serious barbecue. Great ambience, terrific service. Would love to go back.

Phil R.

Yelp
3 stars is a stretch... more of 2.5'ish. Service, bad. Food, ok. Atmosphere, love it! I truly like the variety of options from the menus but what I would love is if they narrowed it some and really got a few things done right. The bbq has been consistently inconsistent with rubs, sauces, and finishing touches different on each of the dozen or so visits I've made over the last 2 years. Hoping my next visit always brings something a little better than the last... but I'm usually disappointed. Service; definitely a "don't care" attitude on all visits with slow returns for initial and checks throughout the meal, let alone 15-20 minute overtime to get your bill and get out.

Curtis R.

Yelp
Nice seating outside which is paramount as we had a dog! The place was busy inside and later on passing noticed the outdoor tables were all full. The food was good, the two melts were more than the girls could eat and were consumed later around the campfire. The brisket was consumed on the spot! Waiter was attentive, never went inside but did not get a good vibe for draft craft beers. Had a local, but not much choice. I would go back noting the town is a tourist trap so all food is pricey for anyone on a budget.

Yelp
Visiting Jackson from out of state- we have tried a ton of places! This was by far #1 on our list. They have the best Bavarian pretzel and the cheese sauce is 10/10!

Edward A.

Yelp
Service was decent. Maybe 5 tables occupied including outside. We arrived after prime time. The food was good but not sure of the smoke. My posted pic of the rib gives me the impression this may be slow baked and seared on the grill - same as the chicken. We enjoyed the sides of onion rings and slaw. Again, the food was good but since we were passing through, it was convenient as well.

Sydney F.

Yelp
Reading through other reviews, I have to agree that the service for us was also a bit lacking. We were told to seat ourselves when we arrived, sat at a table and it took probably 10 mins for someone to come over to us and get our drink orders. After that, our service was fine but food and drinks were just dropped off at our table without any conversation or something as simple as "here's your drink" etc. They dropped stuff off and left so quickly that it was hard to catch their attention to ask for anything. There were also several times we had to ask for things 2-3 times. A coke, extra side of ranch, a box. We did enjoy the food though, we split several items including buffalo smoked wings, burnt ends, Mac and cheese, and the big hole fries. All of it was cooked well and tasted good except the burnt ends. They were extremely fatty compared to any other burnt ends I've had. I also thought the portions were a good size for the prices. The drink prices were great as well! The vibe was good, several people eating and drinking watching sports games. I liked the decor and the laid back feel. For us, this was a chill dinner spot that we enjoyed.

Erica D.

Yelp
We found this place when looking for a dog friendly restaurant (which this is!). We had grilled shrimp tacos, mac and cheese, and house nachos. All food was tasty. Service was great. Def recommend!

Adrian C.

Yelp
environment is great, staff is great. You have to order the burnt ends! Will be back soon !!

Amy P.

Yelp
I ate here after flying into the area and I appreciated their outdoor seating! The Caesar salad was delicious and the portion was large! I also got a BBQ taco, which was a great snack. I thought it was very flavorful! It was a quick stop, but the food was great so I can't complain!

Katelyn C.

Yelp
We came here twice the past few days. The meat is very good and moist but not as seasoned as we thought it was going to be. They do a good job at their salads compared to some of the other places around Jackson. Both of our servers were very nice and attentive!

Devin W.

Yelp
Great Food, Great Portions, Great Atmosphere. Derek was a wonderful server. FOOD! Tasty and lots of it, no skimping over here. Just outside downtown off the main strip so it's a nice chill spot not too loud or busy. Would come again!

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Came in for lunch and the place looked pretty good. Ordered were placed and it took a while to get our food. Three folks ordered ribs one burnt ends and I ordered the Cuban. My Cuban was good nothing too special but good. Everyone who ordered ribs got them cold like refrigerator cold. They were sent back and reheated. The rib folks said they were good when heated but nothing special. Overall don't think I would revisit.

Patrick E.

Yelp
Not good. Mac and cheese was overcooked the coleslaw was ridiculously spicy and not advertised as being spicy at all. The only good thing was the pretzel

Andrew C.

Yelp
The food was perfect. We got carryout of a portion of burnt ends and onion rings. Everything was fantastic.

Donna S.

Yelp
Great place with a local vibe and happy staff who welcome tourists. Try the onion rings!

Nyla K.

Yelp
Popped in for dinner but was a little disappointed with the bbq. The service was good, the wait was minimal, and our waitress was very friendly. A lot friendlier than the guys that work there. 5/5 - Burt ends - so good! The reviews are correct on this and they do melt in your mouth. I probably could've just ordered the larger portion and had this as my main dish. 3/4 - Pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and baked beans - the pork sandwich came out a bit cold. The mac and cheese was decent but the beans were not good. They are cooked a southern style but mine tasted a bit on the sour side. 3/4 - Ribs were just okay. Definitely needed sauce but the bbq sauce wasn't good. The original and spicy bbq sauces were just normal.

John K E.

Yelp
We started with an enormous appetizer plate of beautifully prepared fried okra before moving on to a pound of burnt ends with a side of french fries that proved equally enormous. A tap beer rounded out the order. The price point was very good, especially when one considers that the burnt ends are the real deal-- an end cut with a Texas flavor profile. You won't need the original sauce that's on the table, but it also makes for a good bite. All in all, we rank this one of the two best BBQ joints in Wyoming.

Ruth L.

Yelp
Had our pups and were looking for some good food and friendly place for them. We found both here. Bbq was in point. I had brisket sandwich and husband had chicken tenders. Both made fresh and served hot and tasty. Had cold beer too. All great. Best part was service! Waiter was friendly and efficient. We wanted for not a thing. Great choice!

Wyatt

Yelp
We waited for ever to order the food was kinda cold the food was not good if you are from the south don't expect the BBQ to be what you will normally have and the margaritas are lack luster and the backed beans are not good either but if you want to watch a game or something like that the bar seems nice it is loud though and my sandwich was flipped up with coleslaw when I asked for none of it. And way too expensive for what the food was.

Danielle C.

Yelp
Yum!! With a group of girls and we are all happy with our meals. Meals came out quick and everything felt fresh

Yelp
We were visiting from out of state and wanted some bbq. The menu looked good online so we came on a Wednesday night around 7pm. Place was packed, not a table open. The servers were hustling around to get orders processed. Minus stars for the lack of customer service. We stood with our kids at the front counter and even though I saw servers look at us, it took a good 30min for one to quickly come up and tell us sorry the tables are full. Finally as people left we were seated. The family behind us who were locals said they've never seen it so busy. Service was poor. Server took our drink order and corrected me on how I said Teton beer, did not bring my wife her coke, and when I asked for it she brought it out without a straw. When we ordered the food, they do not have a kids menu so we opted for the chicken tenders for the kids. Because I saw different dipping sauces on the menu, I said the kids would like bbq. She said "you have bbq on the table" and pointed at the bottles. Gee thanks!! I had the combo plate with ribs and brisket. Both were really good! The bbq beans and coleslaw were great as well. The stars are really for the good food! It sounds like it was the once in a blue moon the place gets that busy, but at least greet customers who ended up waiting 40min to get seated. Be a little nicer when explaining the menu. Also the beer glass I was given had some white crust on the inside.

Kristina M.

Yelp
The service is attentive and efficient. The food was marginal. A local recommended the burnt ends, so my husband and I split half a pound as our entree and ordered a side of fries with that. Most of the meat was fat. It was quite a operation to uncover the editable portion of the chunks we were given. The ends were not well cooked and the bbq sauce was okay--nothing special. Our daughter ordered the brisket which was good and the portion size generous. I had a couple of her extra slices.

Ronsurf ..

Yelp
Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend for casual dining.

Bryan C.

Yelp
EST bbq. I've had in a long time! Good smoke ring and very tasty! Couldn't finish the three meat combo. Had a great snack of ribs later that night. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The Good and the Bad. The Good: Food was sharing, and delicious, a little greasy on certain items like the sandwiches, but bbq based plates were delicious. Though our group required accommodation for seating, we were sat in a timely manner. The bad: Service could be improved. It is a smaller sized place to dine so as said before, seating a large party of 9 required some accomodations. One thing that was a bit off putting was hygiene and cleanliness handling certain things. For example, one of the servers placed his Notebook in his pants (not an apron nor a pocket) and thereafter food running, etc. Another worker (bussing tables) was dressed in slip-on slides, which in some ways reflected that there was not a dress code or standard required to be met by employees nor being enforced by employers. 5 experience was sub par.

Lily W.

Yelp
I must say, the burnt ends (more or less brisket chunks) were sooo good and the brisket tacos were also super delicious. The service was lacking enthusiasm, however, the overall vibe of the place made up for it.

Josh E.

Yelp
My wife and I are here on a Saturday night. The place was pretty full, and there wasn't a sign to either seat yourself or wait for a hostess, so we did stand kind of awkwardly unsure of what to do. We were then told to seat ourselves, and once seated, we waited awkwardly again for a few minutes waiting for service. As other reviews, the service was sub-par, HOWEVER, boy oh boy did the food warrant a five star review. We ordered way too much food, but everything sounded so good. We wound up ordering the smoked wings, buffalo style, which were some of the best wings I've ever had. Wings had a great crunch to them, an amazing buffalo sauce, and a big ol cup of ranch! My wife ordered the Mac & cheese with brisket, which was absolutely delicious. Brisket was cooked perfectly, and the Mac was pretty good--definitely get this with brisket or a meat though. We shared the burnt ends, which my wife (who isn't a big fan of fattier meats) didn't love these because they are a little fatty. For those who like tender, juicy, fattier meats, these things are exceptional! I loved the way they were cooked and so satisfying with each bite. The Big Hole fries were also so good. The fries are loaded with cheese, chives, and brisket. As far as the atmosphere, it's definitely a bar with plenty of sports on, a fairly loud in a fun way. We also got a few rounds of drinks here, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out drinks are very reasonably priced here given the area. We recommend this place highly, just be patient with staff as they may be short or new. The food is definitely worth it!

Alex C.

Yelp
Great food. Quick service. Very laid back area. Will come back again when I am in town.

Jason E.

Yelp
The big hole burger was fantastic. Large burger, good fries and excellent service. Didn't care much for the ketchup on the table was actually a spice ketchup not a regular Hines fyi.

Phosphate K.

Yelp
Love this place! Food is amazing and staff is always super welcoming. Jesse is the best!! Definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Walter G.

Yelp
Disappointed with experience at this location of Big Hole BBQ, had much better results with their Victor location. Had long wait before being served even though it was not the busy time of the day. Service was terrible, worst I have ever experienced at any restaurant. Waitress seemed annoyed at us, not welcoming at all. Food was served cold, bland in taste. Would not recommend eating here!

Bonnie H.

Yelp
They were out of all sodas the day we were there. Our food took forever to arrive at the table and it seemed a couple orders came out before ours. We had the Philly, Cuban, and chicken bacon wrap. They were all pretty good. My son upgraded his side to a Caesar salad which looked suspiciously like the bagged ones you get at the grocery store. The fries are good.

Nancy S.

Yelp
We sat on the patio since we had the pup with us. It was a beautiful day, with a view overlooking the gondolas on the ski slopes. I had the brisket sandwich with onion rings and the Hubbs ordered the mini burger- which really was tiny. Everything was very good! The beer was cold and refreshing. We got the burnt ends and the bread pudding to go to enjoy for later and it was delicious! Nice stop.

Pam M.

Yelp
Excellent ribs. 1/3 rack is very filling with baked potato and beers. My only regret was that we didn't have room for starters. The wings looked great. Best waiter ever too, very efficient, friendly guy.

Mauling W.

Yelp
Awesome lunch in this great downtown of the Hole. Sat outside with our dog and a lovely view of the Snow Mountain. Generous and welcoming staff. Food was great! Even gave our pup a bowl of water. No small portions here! Fries were great, the slaw needed more mayo or vinegar but that's my preference. Overall great service and food!

Alison G.

Yelp
We were passing through from CO and while many places required a reservation in advance, we got lucky and snagged both parking in front and bar seating here at prime dinner time. The front door to wait at is on the far left corner of the restaurant but not very visible. Larger parties were waiting outside but they do accommodate seating for larger groups. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and my friend ordered a combo plate. We shared fried okra. All was tasty. I was actually surprised the chicken was smoked and it surely enhanced my meal. All portions were generous and more than enough food for 2 people considering we left with to go boxes. While this place isn't the cleanest and the majority were not masked up, food was still great and atmosphere was lively. Not bad!

Eva M.

Yelp
I've been to a number of bbq joints, it's my favorite type of food. This place doesn't have anything to write home about. I will say only good things about their fried pickles, flavor packed and the sauce was amazing. I got the brisket sandwich and I've never had brisket that had no flavor to it. And it was dry. Even after smothering it in bbq sauce it still didn't hit.

Miguel V.

Yelp
Just walked into this restaurant with a party of 12. Instead of the waitress Greg's she rolled her eyes and sent us to the corner with haste. She said just take two tables and the restaurant was almost completely empty. We are a Mexican American family wondering if maybe some racism was involved. We walked out feeling unwelcomed as if we were a burden. Never coming here again! Terrible experience.

Kassie W.

Yelp
Excellent food, barbecue, and onion rings were delicious! The people working were very friendly and eager to please!

Lily H.

Yelp
The waiters took forever to get our food after we paid and then a man actually took our order overall worst experience at a restaurant and they didn't give us our food in the end even though we paid

Brian M.

Yelp
Was in the Jackson area looking for some good food, very disappointed. Brisket and pulled pork was cold and dry, tasted reheated. My wife was not happy the pork ribs she ordered. Server was not very pleasant and forgot my drink. I don't recommend eating here if you're looking for good BBQ. The quality vs price did not add up.

Tian Q.

Yelp
Got the half pound burnt ends and fried okra, also got another layer to my chin immediately after. Hits the spot but still doesn't compare with STL where you risk getting stabbed but at least you get really good bbq. Friendly place.

Cameron B.

Yelp
Food has no flavor and very fatty, I wouldn't return to this place. Good place if you want drinks, that's about it.

Steph S.

Yelp
I honestly don't know what went wrong. Read some great reviews, then tried it and was pretty disappointed. We got the wings- great flavor. The nachos- looked great, but the queso had no flavor. As I was eating it I could register the texture of the queso but it was the absence of flavor- very strange. Burnt ends- the flavor was amazing, but the meat was extremely soft. I expect there to be some fat in my meat, but I wouldn't have ordered if I knew i was getting some meat with my fat. When I think of burnt ends, I think a little crunchy, or at least just texture of meat. This was uncharacteristically soft, was not expecting that. I honestly was only able to eat one piece, so that was unfortunate. Fried okra: the dipping sauce was good. I Wondering if they had a off night??? Either way I'm a tourist so it doesn't really matter. Hope you have better luck then we did. Cheers!

Veronica N.

Yelp
Great BBQ! We ordered the brisket, ribs and Mac n cheese. Hubby and I were in town and were looking for good bbq and we're glad we found this place. The banana bread pudding was also great.

Jesse C.

Yelp
this bbq restaurant does not have burgers. This very much displeased me because what barbecue joint don't got no damn burgers
