Went here for dinner and the food was delicious, when we were finally able to order. We were only a group of two and there were 2 people in front, 1 at the bar and one coming to tables. Finally took about 10 and another group coming in to acknowledge us. Food came out promptly after ordering and was very well prepared. Kudos to the cooks. But then we had to ask for our bill after 30 min of sitting there and being done. Maybe it was an off night for service and I would still go back and give them another chance because of the food. But the customer service was severely lacking.

My family and I went here recently while downtown, nice location right in the middle of downtown. A short walk from the aquarium. The food was good, we had the Nachos, a Jumbo fish sandwich that lived up to its name (Huge), The Kahuna burger, and a rice bowl. The pricing was okay, a little much for what it is. The food was out to us very quick after we ordered. Overall, I'd say I was pleased with our meal and the food was a 4/5. The real reason I'm leaving a 5 star review and leaving this review was to acknowledge our server, Diamond. She was very pleasant, welcoming, and attentive. She helped us decide what to order and was very nice, a great ambassador for her Big Kahuna burger.

Google
I really enjoyed my dining experience, Dana went around ensuring every patron was satisfied with their service and if it was an issue she would take of it, addressed right away. Dana being the only female staff/manager ran a well establishment and I let her know when we left. Make sure you a drink and the sweet corn hush puppies, I promise you will not be disappointed! 10⭐️’s

Stopped by during a stay at the Marriott Marquis nearby (1 block away) and so glad I did. Great place with lots of choices, fresh food, and friendly service. I had the fish tacos which were really good. I don't often order fish tacos as when they are bad, they are bad .. but not here. I loved my three with a side of chips and salsa. Only regret was instead I should have did the mix and match as you can have three tacos but all different. Nice cold beer on tap and reasonable prices. Come here - you'll enjoy it!

Google
Great meal in a casual, tropical vibe setting. The Tiki Mule was outstanding. Also, try the crab & shrimp burger. It was was really good. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the early evening without any trouble or disturbances. Menu has several different burgers and such with a tropical flare. Try them - shouldn't be dissapointed.

I came here so I could reenact of my favorite Sam Jack quotes but it didn’t quite work out that way. I came in for dinner and waited for a few minutes to be seated. There were other customers there but the place was by no means full. After being seated I waited quite a while for someone to take my order. I opted to get the burger for the aforementioned reasoning and it was fine. I finished my meal, pulled out my wallet and waited yet again for a while for someone to come by and bring the bill. The waiter brought the card reader machine and essentially just left it with me and walked away. I paid and he never came back to retrieve the machine. He was young so I’m just chalking it up to inexperience. All in all, the meal was fine but the service has room for improvement.

Google
I had the combo fajitas and my SO had the burrito. Large portions but amazing food! So delicious and didn’t break the bank. We have it on our list to return. It was close enough to walk from our hotel at the Hyatt Regency.

Google
Food was ok but nothing special (both had burgers). Sweet potato fries were tasty. Atmosphere was so so. Not a bad place but we could have done better. No specific gluten free options either.

Yelp
Great food! Great Atmosphere! Alex was a great bartender and server! Our group had appetizers, tacos, a burger, and the enchiladas and they were all great! We will be back!

Yelp
I walked to Big Kahuna from the Hyatt Regency with 3 of my colleagues for dinner. The vibe is casual and reminded me somewhat of Wahoo Tacos (California chain). We each ordered happy hour beverages (3 beers and a margarita. About 5 minutes later we ordered our food. Our food was delivered well before we got our drinks. The bartender was more interested in talking to the guy at the bar than he was in making our drinks. Two of the beers were Tacate and we asked for salt and lime. He brought them to the table in the can (no glass) with a lime slice on top. I ordered a draft and salt and lime. No salt nor lime was ever brought despite asking twice. The food was an 8 out of 10. I had the San Cabo Salad. It was good, but the Jalepeno ranch dressing was not. I asked for a side of salsa which was much better. My coworker ordered the Santa Barbara steak bowl. She, too, thought the Jalepeno ranch dressing was gross. The nachos were also good as was the quesadilla. We waited about 20 minutes to tab out. The server never came back to ask if we needed anything once the food was delivered. We had to ask another server for salsa. That cost a star on the rating. The food was good, though and the prices were decent for downtown Atlanta.

Yelp
Big Kahuna? More Like Big "Can't-Huna" We showed up with a party of 16, which apparently triggered the restaurant's "bare minimum effort" protocol. Our server knew that 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill, so any motivation to provide decent service vanished immediately. It took over 45 minutes just to get our drinks. yes, drinks. Not handcrafted cocktails. Just basic, run-of-the-mill drinks. The food order was forgotten not once, not twice, but so many times we started placing bets on whether it would ever actually arrive. Meanwhile, the ceiling above our table was leaking like we were dining inside a sad tiki-themed Titanic. You'd think with the ridiculous prices they're charging, the roof could at least hold itself together. As for the vibe? Imagine Applebee's put on a Hawaiian shirt, threw up some plastic palm trees, and added pineapple to a few menu items. If you're looking for painfully slow service, forgotten food, high prices, and a touch of roof leak ambiance, Big Kahuna is your spot. If you're looking for a good time, keep moving.

Yelp
Bartenders were Awesome, friendly . Food, I had tacos, was very good. Will define making this a stop when I am in town.
google avatar

Mike Y.

Yelp
The food was below average and the draft beer was warm. The bartender was nice and switched out my draft beer for a bottled beer.

Yelp
My significant other and his family reserved this spot for his 44th family reunion. There was a buffet laid out with excellent food choices. I couldn't wait so I ordered off the menu. The chicken and shrimp fajitas was prepared expertly and the pina cola da was delish. We give full thanks to Raheem and Dannie. Dannie served are family even though she didn't have to. Our family felt loved. MJ the bartender was extremely attentive. You'll made this outing perfect for us. This is a must return

Yelp
The food hit just the right spot here. This place seems like it would be really good for sports games, since they have lots of TVs and speakers to play the audio. It's in a good location and our food was served pretty quick.
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
Big Kahuna Atlanta was definitely a tourist spot in downtown Atlanta but it hit the spot before a day of travel. The Whole 9 Yard Nachos were huge and the BBQ chicken quesadillas with fries and queso were quite good. Enjoyed the drinks too and friendly staff!

Yelp
I was with a group of 15, with a reservation. Dani, our server was attentive and understanding. The food was delicious and fairly priced. It was the perfect spot for our group meal!

Yelp
If you're looking for a decent meal...this ain't it. Caveat: I was there with a large group which might have affected things, but this was a VERY empty restaurant (always a warning sign) so I doubt it. We all got chips, queso, salsa, green salsa, and guacamole for the table. The chips were adequate, the queso was mid but edible, and the guacamole was decent. The salsas were both gross, in the table's opinion. I ordered an unsweetened tea and asked for artificial sweetener...THREE times to two different servers. I'm still waiting on the fake sugar. Others had mixed up drinks, as well. I got the Big Kahuna burger and wasn't impressed. The beef was gristly (ew), the "sauce" was basically mayo, and it was just a hot mess. The (frozen) fries were reminiscent of McD's on a bad day. Nothing compelling here. Chili's would have been as good, if not better. I don't like Chili's.

Yelp
Food came out hot & was so good! Alex our waiter was amazing. He deserves a raise!! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Atlanta!!

Anne S.

Yelp
The food was delicious and Hugh portions. The chips are made fresh everyday and Alex was the perfect waiter. Would definitely go back if I was in Atlanta again

Yelp
Food was Ok, but kind of pricey for a lunch. The service was good, for a lunch spot during work hours, I would return. The ambiance was fine. I will give it another try.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I went during Dragon Con. I've been many times before, always during Dragon Con weekends. Maybe the food and service are better at other times. I went twice during Labor Day weekend 2024, both times for dinner. Big Kahuna used to have amazing boneless chicken wings. I ordered them, they took my order, then the manager came around saying he doesn't know what I'm talking about. Then he leaves before I could order something different. 20 minutes later, they run the food out to us with boneless chicken wings. Weird, but okay. They weren't as good as I remembered and the price was shocking. I had boneless wings and an unsweet tea. Total bill was close to $40 and the entree was only ~$20. They must have been adding +25% gratuity (and it was only a party of three). The next night I was with a big group and we went back. I won't chronicle the whole thing out, but the waiter (nice guy) had no idea what he was doing, they said they didn't have several items that we ordered (then brought them out anyway), and most of the orders were jacked up. One girl said no hot sauce and her tacos came slathered in hot sauce, for example. Also, the bill was insane. So, in short, the food is not as good as it used to be, they don't understand their own menu, there is a general air of confusion, and the prices are eye-rolling. Big Kahuna is definitely a hard pass - at least during Dragon Con. I would give them 1 star, but I have nostalgia for how good they used to be. Maybe they can return to that some day.

Yelp
Service was bad, orders forgotten and food was meh. Very loud music and seemed more of an overpriced bar than a restaurant. Made a reservation days in advance and no table was ready.
google avatar

Yuchen Z.

Yelp
Pretty basic food. I was more excited about this place before eating their food. It certainly looks cool and has personality. The taste of the food just didn't deliver as much of a punch as the looks. I got their Tacos - 3 different kinds - the only one I liked a lot was their Fish taco. Very solid. Should've just gotten 3 of that. The brisket one was super tough and dry. The other one wasn't even memorable. Everyone's food were pretty basic. Fries were meh.
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh food (Tex mex) and selection of drinks. The staff was working so hard - understaffed but kind and doing their very best.
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks & food at the Big Kahuna are very good but what I like best about the place is it's cool laid back vibe!Great place for a group of friends. The servers are friendly & fun! I recommend the seafood tower appetizer but in all seriousness, You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Eat, drink & have fun!
google avatar

Mimi S.

Yelp
I came here on my trip to Atlanta from Costa Mesa because I thought this was a Hawaiian restaurant but it isn't. I came with my friend and her kids so we stayed. The menu is comprised of burgers, salads, and tacos. This place has great service and indoor/outdoor seating. I loved their mango lemonade and their mushroom Swiss burger. The name of the restaurant is deceptive but the food is good. The service from Lalo was good and attentive!
google avatar

Shanna E.

Yelp
Really happy here! The service at the bar was excellent and the vibe was beachy. Would come back a hundred times to try everything on its extensive menu! With just one visit under my belt so far, I chose the crab and shrimp cake bites, which totally nailed it. And then the bang bang chicken taco and the wahoo fish taco--the fish taco was wonderful, but I would probably try a different second taco next time, as the chicken was a bit more bbq-y/pulled pork-like than I expected. And *definitely* the white queso!

Yelp
We had a group event here last night, and they were very kind and accommodating in making space for us. The servers were attentive and helpful. The bar has an excellent whiskey and Bourbon selection, and some cool craft beers, though the special Orange Creamsicle beer they had was not cold when I ordered it. A frosty glass helped, and they threw the rest in the chiller for me. The peel-and-eat Gulf shrimp were plump and delicious, and the coconut shrimp were also perfect. Hubby's fish tacos were crispy and flaky and delicious. The atmosphere was festive and the music pumping. This would be a great after-work spot if we lived here. It was a fun night for our conventioneers.

Yelp
We entered the restaurant and weren't greeted by anyone we waited to be greeted and then got settled. The server was a little aggressive at talking to us but we ordered and then waited, the food came very quickly. The food was decent nothing amazing. The restaurant was fairly clean.

Yelp
Visited for lunch the Thursday of DragonCon. I've eaten there during previous DragonCons and always enjoyed it. And the food was good this time... everyone in my group enjoyed it. But there were a few issues which will likely keep me from going back. First, they increased menu prices by $1 to $3 per item. Even had special DragonCon menus printed up with new prices. Biggest issue with this was that the website still reflected normal prices so we spent considerably more than expected. Nothing indicated this until you got the on-site menu. Second... they automatically added an 18% gratuity. I tip well... don't automatically add a basic tip. I didn't see this noted anywhere. I know restaurants will often have a automatic gratuity for large groups... there were only 4 of us. Lastly, I believe there was only one server/ bartender. And, surprisingly for DragonCon, that was probably enough... it was pretty quiet. The issue was that the server spent all his time trying to hookup with a couple of attractive women that were sitting at the bar. Everyone else in the restaurant was neglected. We never received drink refills, never asked if everything was ok. And he messed up our checks on top of that (putting one appetizer on the wrong check). Service not worthy of the 18% automatic gratuity; but, the server knew he would get at least that so why even try. In short, won't go back again when in Atlanta.

Yelp
Popped in for dinner after a long day of work. Ordered chips and salsa. Came with a very good red salsa and green spicy salsa. The chips were very thin and melted in your mouth. Had a Sante Fe burger which was very tasty. Got sweet potatoes fries which came out with cinnamon and brown sugar sprinkled on it. Didn't care for these as I don't enjoy those things on my sweet potatoes. Still good meal at a good price. Nice atmosphere and the staff is excellent.

BrieCole O.

Yelp
Dani and the staff here are the best! Great food, awesome drinks, and fantastic atmosphere both inside and out. Always come by when I'm in town. You'll leave feeling like family.

Yelp
Have worked downtown for years and have only been to Big Kahuna for drinks. Had lunch here the other day for a change and the first thing I noticed was how expensive all of the food was on the menu has gotten. Totally understand the impact of inflation, but a gut check on reasonable prices is needed. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger with Fries - price $17.99. Add an iced tea, tax, and tip and lunch cost over $25. That's a big ticket for lunch! The burger wasn't anything special. It was overcooked and lacked flavor. Small amount of fries - frozen, shoestring. For the price, hand cut fries and a larger quantity would be nice, and might possibly mask the shortcomings of the burger.

Yelp
My husband and I popped in for supper while visiting Atlanta and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Santa Barbara Rice Bowl and it was FABULOUS! Just a zip of spicy, the rice was cooked perfectly, the chicken was grilled and tender, oh my gosh the grilled corn, edamame, it was all so so good. I only wish this restaurant was in my home town so I could frequent it often. My husband got the chicken tenders, which were breaded and he prefers battered but they were still good. The only thing that wasn't exceptional was the fries were super salty. But if that's your thing, enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Visited here while on a work trip to Atlanta. Big Kahuna was close to the hotel and not crowded. As this was my first visit to a Big Kahuna, I naturally had to try the Big Kahuna Burger. As Samuel L. Jackson said in the movie Pulp Fiction, "Mmm-mmmm. That is a tasty burger." (I did not have Sprite). My companions had a couple different salads and seemed pleased with their food. Big Kahuna didn't have a huge menu but there were a decent variety of selections to please most tastes. Four stars primarily because if challenges this evening with beer selections. They were out of two non-exotic drafts (Dos Equis and Landshark Lager) out of a draft selection of 8-10 beers. Surprising, but I guess that's COVID for you. Outdoor seating was available and J, our server, did a great job of taking care of us. The burger wasn't cheap but was worth it and served with perfectly crisp fries.
google avatar

Sami L.

Yelp
Came here with a large group. The service was exceptional and fast for how many staff they had and how many people were in our group! I ordered the salmon sandwich, and tried some appetizers.. and it was good but not exceptional (4-star worth). Overall, it was a great experience and I would be back again under the same circumstances.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
Business trip, with a conference being held right across at the Marriott. Food - Meh Service - Ok Return - Negative Recommend - Absolutely not That just about sums up my Big Experience. I had a steak burrito topped with Queso and a side of chips The chips were stair the queso felt like it was from the previous day and the burrito less than memorable. People Atlanta has a lot of great food, skip this.
google avatar

Travis M.

Yelp
The food was alright. Service was great. Had a really cool California look inside. What really didn't impress me was they tried to tack on an 18% large party fee for 4 adults and two 3 year olds. The place wasn't busy, they didn't have to put two tables together or anything. And the food was expensive for being just alright. They did end up waving the large party fee without question but it still seemed like kind of a duck move. I'd go back again but would t go out of my way to.
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! I saw this via Yelp but had decided on a different place nearby. While walking to the other place, saw a sign for the Big Kahuna & decided to give it a shot, instead. What a great decision! I'm usually pretty decisive, but they're whole menu (just changed today) looked incredible! Food is fresh and the flavors are plentiful! They offer a full bar with top shelf liquor - Kendall Jackson is part of their "house wine"' selections! If you're having difficulty deciding where to go, I'm confident strongly encouraging you to choose Big Kahuna. Seriously, you'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Had an awesome time here. Mariela was so kind and making sure that we were good for anything. Really upbeat and postive. Super grateful to check this place out!!

Yelp
Ordered: Shrimp Po-boy ($15) Ambience: beach decor. Casual. Review: pricey and the food quality is terrible. Shrimp po boy had small cheap shrimp. Barely 4 Pieces of shrimp. Breaded so poorly. Too much carbs, i.e. too much bread. Not fresh bread either. Barely any coke slaw or sauce. VERY dry. Came with fried potato chips or salad. The chips were too salty. Terrible place! Not coming here again for sure.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
A wonderful small taco place next to our hotel. The service was great and the food was better. My wife and I had all the tacos and they were all so good. The mojitos are worth every penny. We left full and satisfied. My only issue with this restaurant was the odd hours but that is due to lack of staff and Covid. Worth it if you're in town.
google avatar

Allyson M.

Yelp
I came here with a volleyball team and all of their parents. The service was so quick and the staff was so helpful and kind. I have eaten with large parties several times over the years and never received service this efficient and great. The food was high quality and fresh! I would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
Burger was extremely bland & overpriced. Also very hard to find. It doesn't say on the website that it's in Truist so it took forever to find.
google avatar

Andy U.

Yelp
After seeing the $3 taco special here on Yelp and on their website, I decided to head on over to Big Kahuna's. That is where the disappointment started. The $3 taco Tuesday special is now false advertising. They do NOT offer it. Also, of the 10 beers they have on draft, 4 if them were out. On the positive side, the service was friendly, and the food was very flavorful. It was a little salty, but not too much where it was unbearable or inedible. I had 3 different tacos, and each had their own distinct flavor. I had the crispy calamari, sirracha beef, and Korean grilled chicken (which was my favorite). The chips and salsa in the other hand were a little stale and missing flavor.
google avatar

Mandy D.

Yelp
Burgers were good, tacos were ok. 2 tacos should have been on corn tortillas, 2 on flour, but they struggled to get the tortillas right. Drinks were good, servers were attentive. Put a gratuity on the check for only four people, which is odd, claimed it was mistake. Probably won't go back for that reason.

Patricia C.

Yelp
Had the Chicken Quesadilla. Horrible - unless you like things that are burned then you might like it. After two bites of burnt chicken I was done. Would not waste time and effort of going in there again.
google avatar

Daisy G.

Yelp
Stayed in the downtown area for a conference and noticed this place was nearby. Super cute, fun bar with flavorful food (and strong drinks!).
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of this place. Offering burgers and California style Mexican fare, this is a great place to grab a bite & a beer after work. The only real downside is that it seems to be understaffed. (Service can sometimes take a bit longer than expected.) Also, Big Kahuna seems to be closed all weekend now, not just on Sunday.
google avatar

Nikkie D.

Yelp
The Big Kahuna Burger is sooo good. Staff are cool as well. Great atmosphere and lively. I'm back again! You guys are awesome!
google avatar

Jordain J.

Yelp
Decent size Tex-Mex restaurant, I just came here to visit and I wanted to try some food away from the hotel. This wasn't bad, the meat was cooked to perfection and the french fries were pretty good as well. I don't know about the other things on the menu though but based on what most of the people say in these reviews It seems pretty basic. If I were to come back I will probably eat the same thing or experiment with another burger nothing more nothing less.
google avatar

Matthew O.

Yelp
When I saw the name of this restaurant, I couldn't help myself, I had to go visit it. Why? Because I'm a huge fan of the film Pulp Fiction. And any true fan of Pulp Fiction knows by far the most famous scene in the movie, the one involving Samuel L. Jackson and the Big Kahuna Burger. So when I found out that there was a restaurant in Downtown Atlanta named Big Kahuna, I had to go try it myself. The restaurant itself is very laid back with a tropical island vibe. Colorful interior with surfboards on the walls and lots of tropical drinks on the menu. The menu is rather eclectic, with a variety of standard bar food fare along with some Pan-Asian inspired dishes. But the part that really made my day was going down the burger menu and seeing it there: the Big Kahuna Burger. The burger itself was a good size. The patty was nice and crusty and well seasoned on the outside while staying moist and rich on the inside. The slice of cheese helps bind things together and of course, you get your standard lettuce, onion, and tomatoes. Now, is it a 5 star award winning burger that blows me away? Not really. But in the end, I still have to say, this is a tasty burger! And yes, I did wash it all down with a Sprite ;)
google avatar

Evan G.

Yelp
Big Kahuna on Peachtree Center Avenue in Atlanta is an excellent place to go for all things burgers, tacos, and seafood items. I really like the laid back and fun atmosphere and vibe here and you can relax and enjoy your meal. The staff here is very attentive and works hard to make sure that you are well taken care of and have everything you need for a good meal.
google avatar

Jon T.

Yelp
Had a great experience at the BK. Great service and great food. We had a little bit of everything. Tacos, chips and guacamole, rice bowl and a burrito! Everything was great. Little on the pricier end but it's atmosphere makes up for it with 5 tvs and laid back crew. I would Def. Come back again! Especially with March madness going on!

Thomas C.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was good other than having to wait for the check due to the fact that it was lunchtime and they didn't have enough servers. Everything inside was clean well taken care of. We definitely would come back.

Yelp
I had a great lunch today from the Big Kahuna ..... the strawberry salad is so fresh and healthy! The big tuna appetizer is a must have if you love fresh tuna . You will not be disappointed with anything on the menu .
