I had a pretty bad experience with Big Marty's about 3 years ago. We had ordered carpet, were told when it would arrive and be installed, and we actually waited for the installation team beyond the time they had been scheduled to arrive. We finally called and were told that our product was not in the warehouse and would not be available for another week to two weeks. We were angry that nobody had called, even coming up to our appointment time to let us know that our product was delayed. As it turned out, we were leaving the state two days later, not to return for about 6 months. This was upsetting as we were rehabbing a condo for future rentals. We had to make a special trip to return for carpet installation.
After installation, the mess was going to be left for us to clean up. We are elderly and really could not do the extensive clean-up post installation that (we have been told should be done by the installation team) was needed.
Fast forward approximately 3 years.
Our condo has been inhabited only by us, and only about 4 weeks a year. Our carpet is not showing any wear and tear as there is none. But it is humping up in several areas, along the entire length of the carpet. This carpet was installed horribly. We need to have the furniture moved and the carpet stretched.
So, while it seems we did get a quality product, the actual responsiveness, appointment experience, and now installation sloppiness that has become apparent has really turned us off Big Marty's. I was hoping to hear back from you following this message. If I do not, I will be posting this on Yelp. I am also a member of Angie's list and other consumer alert media.
