Excellent family owned business and bakery. Everyone always talks about the cinnamon rolls (which are amazing) but im here to talk about the chicken salad sandwich with fresh baked bread daily. It’s a good light healthy lunch option. But as I was leaving I heard someone ask for a sweet potato bar??? I will be back for that.

The Tuna sandwich was the perfect choice for lunch. Not too heavy. I came in for some pound cake which a friend had bought for me the day before. It was really good BTW. But I left with a brownie with pecans. It was good. I still prefer the pound cake. I also had the carrot cake it was alright. I didn't finish it

They are currently in renovations so couldn't leave a huge 5 star review but this customer service was phenomenal and is worth giving a community small business a chance on that alone. But wow do their pastries slap and their usually sold out by 1-2pm so If you love cinnomon rolls come early. I was able to get their last caramel pecan sweet bun and it was worth it 8.5 out of 10.

Big Mamma's Bakery Cafe is a must-visit in KC! The cinnamon rolls were incredible. Even unheated, they were 5 stars. This Black-owned gem serves delicious breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. Let’s support this amazing local spot, you won’t be disappointed. I’m definitely coming back whenever I'm in the area.

Super friendly service. The pastries are amazing. I watched several breakfast sandwiches get ordered and I'll have to go back and try one because they look delicious. They are undergoing renovations but I still give 5 stars for atmosphere because they were extremely accommodating despite the work in progress.

Prices are great and so is the food. Got the sandwich combo turkey and bacon. They aren't stingy with their portions. Attendant is kind and hard worker. Will absolutely be back for more.

Talk about the best of the best! It's official, traveling across the states for work, I look for the best cinnamon rolls. Big Momma's regular cinnamon roll is it. The softest, stretchiest, best cinnamon roll I have EVER had. I can't say enough about this. I ended up trying the biscuits and gravy, and was pleasantly surprised. It's the first biscuits and gravy that I didn't add salt and pepper too, with the best biscuits imaginable! I WILL make this a regular stop every time I'm coming through the area!

We did some free work for a nice young lady and she brought us 10 cinnamon rolls. Since then, we have made several trip there just for the rolls. They are excellent!!

We've been here before for the amazing cinnamon rolls, but this time I went in for sandwiches... A chicken salad sandwich, and a create-your-own turkey sandwich, Italian hoagie style (oil & vinegar... And yes, I say hoagie, I grew up in NJ... waddaya want?!) The service is terrific and the food is DELICIOUS and you can't beat the price for that quality. I'm so glad we live closeby!

I've been buying from Big Mama's since they started in Raytown. Our holiday meals wouldn't be the same without their fresh buttery rolls. Everything is fresh and delicious. The employees are kind and eager to help. I've turned so many on to this lil mom & pop shop in S KC. Oh and try the deli! A simple deli bar made with a fresh sandwich rolls, be ready to taste luxury. The shop is small but quaint, most orders are placed to go. But there are a few tables there to eat in. Highly recommended!!!

stopped by for some breakfast, really good cinnamon rolls! biscuits and gravy was not as good but i'll definitely be back for those cinnamon rolls!! good service, not many places to sit inside but it's right across from a home depot so im sure it's just because of clientele always hurrying out the door!

Hey There, Another great spot that I've been ROLLIN' with for a long time is being revealed to some and a reminder for others to revisit. I've gone to Big Momma's since it's Crown Center Days. Omg! It was delectable Then and it still is, Now. How refreshing to pop in and have my palate do the 'Happy Dance' once again. It was like bumping into an 'old flame' that you STILL have mad love for and haven't seen in years (yes, old flames can still burn). This place has all types of deliciousness going on with its wide variety of HUGE cinnamon rolls, cakes, cookies and sandwiches. They also serve wonderful breakfast entrees and coffee that leaves you pondering about the 'next time' even before you leave. I recently stopped into this here 'love spot' and I could hardly wait to sink my teeth into a big ole HOMEMADE roll with 'The Best' HOMEMADE chicken salad in between! Umph, umph, umph is all I can say!!! I had the gentleman cut it in 4 pieces (I don't know WHY I thought I'd eat a few bites and save the rest, what the heck)! He warmed it a few seconds in the microwave and BA-BY it was ON! It started out slow and I SAVORED EV-ER-Y bite. After half of the sandwich disappeared, I wrapped the remaining half and placed it back in the sack. A short while later (very short), I grabbed another piece and it was a wrap. I couldn't save anymore. Like a Turkey runnin' from its captor I gobbled the rest before I could make it home. Geeezzzz. So bad of me, but Oh sooooo good! You all MUST give this quaint hidden treasure a try! I do believe you'll enjoy it. Other sandwiches are a hit as well, but the chicken salad has always been at the top. Don't chance them running out of it. They also have great rolls and take orders for them all the time. Right now they are in their Thanksgiving rush so it would behoove you to run on down, try (warmed up) then place your order in time for the upcoming Holiday. The rolls were fresh and tasty, I love the yeast taste. I can eat them with some honey, jelly or just plain. Service was fast and easy, online order was ready when I arrived.

If you are looking for something to fulfill the craving for your sweet tooth, look no further. Big Momma's has been around for years. The cinnamon rolls are to die for! When you place your order, they will ask if you want extra icing and/or if you want it warmed. O-M-Geeee! Wait until you get to your destination so that you can warm it up (no more than 30-40 seconds) and enjoy it alone or with a cold glass of milk. You will definitely feel guilty after eating it - then again, you may not. The sandwiches are Gi-gormous! I would order one meat to enjoy it, but if you are hungry and do not mind the condiments on the sides of your mouth, go for more than one meat, along with your toppings of choice. I promise that you will not be able to eat the entire sandwich. They have the following to add to your sandwich at no extra charge. You pick! Lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, pickles, jalapenos, mayonnaise, mustard, dijon mustard, Desserts - Sweet potato bar - Lemon bar - Carrot cake - Lemon Round - Strawberry cake - German Chocolate cake - Scones - Cinnamon rolls - Mini Mamas (center of the cinnamon rolls - yum!) Lastly, they have homemade dinner rolls that you can order for your next meal to impress your friends and family. :-) The larger rolls are good to make your own homemade sandwiches. They taste better than the Hawaiian rolls.

My beef sandwich here is my top favorite! It's the bread oh it's sooo good! The owner is always nice and generous when making my food! The cinnamon rolls are a treat. Love the ones with nuts!

Most Amazing Huge Chicken Salad Sandwich I have ever eaten. So much food . The sandwich Fed me for two meals. the Chicken salad was delicious!!!! Bought a tray of Homemade Bread. Soft, Fresh , try it in the Toaster soaked in Butter. So Tasty and Awesome. Cant wait to get back and Try a Tuna Salad Sandwich! Thank you for such awesome food and Generous portions. the person serving was so helpful and professional. My new Go To Place!!! Kansas City's Best in my book!!!!

Every visit here has been pleasant. There is only one guy that works the counter it seems so the service is a little slow but so very worth the wait. The dinner rolls are my absolute favorite! They have delicious baked treats for reasonable prices. I've ordered several breakfast and lunch sandwiches and they've never disappointed! It's neatly decorated with with another business merchandise being sold inside.

I LOVE Big Momma's! If you don't pre order your rolls for ALL of your holiday get togethers from here... then you are not on the winning team my friend. Their rolls are ALWAYS a talking point at the table lol. I've been rocking with them since early 2000s. Now, today I was near and wanted to try their sandwiches out! I built my own beef sandwich and my goodness did every bite taste like they built it with love. The bread... if you know then you know. The amount of beef was appropriate for the bread size! Oh my GOD I am so glad we stopped by Big Momma's during our visit to KC. There were no other customers at the time of our visit so we received full attention of the employee behind the counter. We were interested in their cinnamon rolls, obviously, which are offered in a few different sizes: mini momma, little momma, and big momma. I cannot for the life of me think of a scenario that would warrant the purchase of any size other than the biggest mother fucking roll they make. Needless to say, we went with a big momma. It was delicately placed in a tin container large enough to house this whale of a cinnamon roll. An icing drizzle is provided to the degree of your specific taste. We had a drive to southwestern MO after our purchase so we weren't able to break into this bad boy until many hours and refrigeration later. I tore off the plastic lid and carefully lifted this mammoth of a cinnamon roll out of its container. The big momma has the approximate diameter of a dinner plate and is comparable to the size of my head. Despite being refrigerated for a period of time, it still maintained fluffiness. The dough part was soft and light and flanked by the PERFECT amount of cinnamon sugar. It was an absolute DREAM. We took down the entire thing in record time. If you have an opportunity to visit, you must. Don't bother fucking around, just get the big momma.

Omg the cinnamon rolls at this place! Phenomenal! Like I love cinnamon rolls but have never really found a place that made ones that I like until this place! Just wow! They are soft and such a good chewy texture. The worker even asked if I wanted more frosting which who says to no to that?! They sell other baked goods like lemon bars, sweet potato bars, German chocolate cake, carrot cake, turtle brownies, cookies, dinner rolls to name a few. And they even make deli sandwiches too! They have an area with all the sandwich items. I don't know how much each item was but the total was cheap compared to the places I go to in Prairie Village. So I got a cinnamon roll, turtle brownie, bread pudding, and a dinner roll and it was $11 total. Like what?!?! Cause my favorite place in Prairie Village to get ONE CAKE SLICE is like $7-8 just for comparison. They also have catering options if anyone is needing lunch ideas. This would be a great place and also to support local with good food and desserts. I'm definitely coming here again on my next sweet tooth craving. You'll be happy especially with their cinnamon rolls. Edit: just tried the dinner roll and turtle brownie and omg wowwww!!! Really good. Especially that dinner roll. Something so simple done so well! It's good soft when you warm it up with a hint of sweetness. I definitely want to try more of their stuff!

Very good food. Exactly what I wanted. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and a sweet potato bar. Soooo yummy! It does seem like one person is taking orders and running the kitchen at the same time. I think he could use some help with the steady flow of people coming into the shop. 10/10 though, I will definitely come back

On my way to work one morning I really wanted breakfast, but really didn't want fastfood. I had heard from some coworkers about how great the lunch was at Big Momma's KC so I thought their breakfast must be good as well. Upon arriving and opening the door the smell of fresh baked bread and goodies hits. Immediately my mouth starts to watering and my eyes look for the source. I find the case with all the sticky pecan buns, different sized cinnamon rolls (some the size of a child head!), and other goodies. Naturally I want to try it all, but I knew that would be too much food so I had to make a decision. I look up to the menu and see they have breakfast sandwiches, so I decide to have that. I place my order with a very nice gentleman who goes to the back to make my sandwich. I decided on sausage egg and cheese sandwich. I pay for my food and head to work. I've never walked so fast to my desk before...I could not wait to try this delicious smelling sandwich (thankfully the office is two minutes down the road). The sandwich is large and very filling (half way through I started to get really full). The star of this sandwich is the bun. It's so soft and airy, almost like it's not there. I know the buns there though because it tastes so delicious! It's so delicious that I forget to take a picture...guess I have to go back . I highly suggest stopping by and grabbing some breakfast. I'm also looking forward to trying their lunch!

I ordered a sweet potato bars and cinnamon rolls for an event. The staff was very helpful and the food was great. I went back with friends for lunch. The bread for the sandwiches is really good. I had chicken salad, and it was tasty. There isn't a lot of room for seating, but it wasn't crowded when we were there.

I just happened to stop in while driving by. What a pleasant surprise. I bought the fresh dinner rolls which were delicious as well as some good desserts.

I expected amazing cinnamon rolls. I ordered a dozen mini rolls with extra icing. The icing or something tastes like hair gel. It was not the experience that I wanted to have. Their business is located in a weird shopping center, there are reasons why there is not a lot of business here. The food is just not good.

Wonderful. One of the best bakeries in KC, hands down. I tried a cinnamon roll, a lemon bar, and lemon pound cake and it was all incredible. It was fast and everyone we met was very kind. Plus, it was super affordable -- under $10 for everything. Can't recommend enough.

Excellent cinnamon rolls and even better service!! We stopped in about 15 minutes before closing and the gentleman serving us was so kind and happy to help! As it was near the end of the day he even threw in a couple extra mini rolls. Unfortunately we live about 3 hours away but we will be back!!

Asked the gentleman who loaded our products at Home Depot if he ever had one of Big Momma's cinnamon rolls, he said they are really good! I asked my hubby to pull up and I'd run in and get him one, normally I don't eat sweets. When I heated one up for him this evening I got a little on my finger so instead of wiping it on my jeans, LOL, I licked my finger, OH MY!!! I had to go warm a little bit up for me and am SO glad I did!!! They are light and oh so YUMMY. I will be going back to try other foods as well. Definitely worth the drive over there!!!

This place has the best cinnamon rolls in the city. The dinner rolls are incredible. The employees are so nice and helpful. The chicken salad is delicious. Perfection!

My husband -- a native of Kansas City -- was wild about the cinnamon rolls sold here. (I'd suspected that he would be even before we'd arrived, as I'd scoped the place out via Yelp prior to our last trip to K.C.). Me? I went ga-ga for the sweet potato pie bars -- they were seriously over the top. The service we received was warm and friendly, and the staff members who served us were both masked and gloved.

This YUMMY place was at Crown Center and now moved closer to home. They have the best local Cinnamon Rolls in town. Not too sweet, just right and a great choice of toppings. I met with Ms.Joyce the owner and ordered 3 dozen Cinnamon Rolls for the staff at my car dealership to let them experience this sweet treat. They all loved it.

The bread was delicious! You can choose your choice of meat and toppings for a deli sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was delightful as well. Make sure to try the cinnamon rolls!! Very nice people! I am looking forward to coming back!

I love a good biscuit and gravy so I was very disappointed that my biscuit had a strong cinnamon flavor. I didn't care for the large pieces of sausage and overall it was very salty and fatty for my taste I wanted to purchase a sweet potato pie like it shows on the menu but was told I needed to pre-order one so I ordered a slice. It was a small pitiful square that was more like an overly sweet custard. Won't be back.

Needed to grab a quick bite for breakfast while on the road and decided to come here and I'm really glad I did! The owners were very sweet and kind and enjoyed the conversation while waiting for my breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was bomb! I got the sausage egg and cheese sandwich and every ingredient was fresh! However it was the homemade buns that really topped everything off.

Y'all...... this place is incredible. The staff is so kind. There's an entire sandwich bar. Tons of cinnamon roll options for sizing and toppings. Seating inside. Shirts and other goodies for sale as well. Black & locally owned. 10/10. It's better than my nana's and that's saying something. You've gotta get it.

Why is they called Big Momma's? Let me rename them Big Sexy cause the buns mmmmmmm so soft, phat and delicious. I'd sin my soul 1,000 times over for these buns and cinnamon rolls ..plus they got the nuts OMFG!! I am visiting on business and I want to build a house next door. So I could walk and grab those buns. I swear the next day I went there, after I got my order, I put my headphones on, tuned on Too Deep by. DVSN & When We (remix) by. Tank and took my time with those cinnamon rolls It was SOOO amazing. It was literally a orgasm on my mouth. It's clear they put their love and heart into these things. You stole my heart, soul and body thank you from the bottom of my heart. I felt love that day. Wish I took pictures but I had no time for that.

Very good, it's a regular sub place for lunch. I had the chicken salad and it was good. The cinnamon roll was delicious, I warmed it up for 10 seconds in the microwave and very, very good. I think it had more cinnamon than I'm used to, but I'd get another for sure.

Kristal made m first visit the absolute best! Her joyful personality made me a fan before I even tried anything. I appreciate hospitality! Now can we talk about those dinner rolls she talked me into? Absolutely delicious! My son is ready to already go back for the sticky buns. I brought home the cinnamon rolls. I need to go earlier in the day because I could only get one tin. The best cinnamon rolls in Kansas City. They put all others to shame. The variety of sizes is great, but do yourself a favor and just buy the biggest one. You'll be sad when the mini is all gone. The homemade bread on the breakfast sandwich is so fluffy and fresh. A great great place to stop in and make any day a good day.

So excited to see a new locally owned business in the area. They remodeled the space beautifully with fresh accents. The display case was lovely, I wanted to buy everything in there! I settled for a half dozen cookies, snickerdoodle and chocolate chip. Absolutely delicious. Can't wait to come back and try a fresh cinnamon roll.

The Lemon bar was made in heaven. The sweet potato pie bar might be the best dessert I ever ate. The employees are so friendly. You should come here and be ready to enjoy some amazing food.

After moving back to KC and hearing about this beloved Crown Center jewel, I was all too excited to order rolls for a family holiday dinner. Mind you, I'd only had their strawberry champagne cake (RIP-they don't make them anymore) and chicken salad before--but everyone raves about the rolls. I ordered a dozen and 1/2 (you order by the 1/2 dozen). While they are noticeably large and great tasting on the first day, the second day was a different story. We hadn't opened the package (so there was no air to affect product) and the buttery rolls of yesterday were now hard and dry. My mother broke out the Sister Schubert frozen rolls and apologized for the money that was wasted. I must mention that I had a baby cinnamon roll that was DELISH (could've used more icing--but that's a personal preference) and would return for those only.
