I gotta admit, Texas barbecue is probably my favorite. I used to live in Houston, where Tex-Mex and barbecue can be found everywhere. So, if you miss a taste of home, head out to Big Nate's Family BBQ for some authentic 12-hour slow-roasted and smoked Texas-style barbecue. I met Eric Solheim and his brother-in-law, Ray Dandridge; everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My wife tried the 1/4 chicken plate with slaw and baked beans, and I had to try the Trinity plate: pulled pork, chicken, and brisket. I also had to try Nacho Mama's Mac and the loaded mashed potatoes. Everything was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and you could really taste the smoky flavors. They offer family packs and homemade desserts and cookies; if you are in the area, please support them.

Absolutely the best BBQ around. My son hired Big Nate's to cater their wedding and it was fabulous. Everyone in attendance love the food from the BRISKET to the PULLED PORK to the Mac & Cheese and coleslaw slaw, everything thing was top notch. I have been back several times even though it is a 35 min trip one way. You've got to go!

We stopped by randomly for lunch while out and about. There were 4 of us all getting different items. The guys at the counter were friendly and quick getting the orders together. Everything we had was excellent. Pulled pork was flavorful and tender, brisket and chicken both excellent. Sides were also on point, I hold a lot of my BBQ review for the sides. The only thing I wasn't overhappy about was the cornbread was a little stale but barely. Overall a very good meal and we were all very happy with it. Highly recommend.

Google
El Portal, What a jewel of a restaurant in the heart of Old Town Central Phoenix. The food was excellent, with healthy portions and great prices. The service was a tad bit slow, but they were trying to prepare for a large group that evening. The atmosphere was excellent, with many painted murals on the walls. Will definitely be back to this restaurant when it cools off.

Had the bbq pulled pork sandwiches - AMAZING! So so good. We really enjoyed sampling the different bbq sauces as well. House, sweet, AZ sweet heat (with prickly pear and jalepeno!), lost dutchman gold, and fuego de gringo (mexican spices, so good!). Great coleslaw, and pecan pie too!

Came from Seattle to try this spot. Hella bomb. Big Nate’s BBQ is a smoky slice of heaven where the true star of the show is the jalapeño cheddar sausage — a perfect blend of spice, smoke, and rich, melty cheese that hits every note just right. The sausage has that satisfying snap when you bite in, releasing a burst of bold jalapeño flavor balanced by the creamy cheddar and the deep kiss of oak smoke. While the brisket and ribs hold their own, it’s this sausage that steals the spotlight and keeps you reaching for one more bite. Friendly service, generous portions, and that irresistible Texas-style charm make Big Nate’s a must-visit for any barbecue lover.

What's happened to the customer service? My family and I have been coming to Nate’s Barbecue since they opened in Northeast Mesa. Every year, we order the family meal for our New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day dinner. The customer service used to be excellent. The front staff was always friendly and professional. Over the past year, however, service has rapidly declined. Today was the last straw. On Tuesday, December 30, I went in to pre-order our meal. I waited an inordinate amount of time before anyone came to take my order. The person who finally helped me was friendly but struggled with the order. Today, when I came to pick up the meal, I asked for a container with a lid for pickles, jalapeños, and onions. The employee looked at me strangely and suggested using tiny sauce containers instead. I explained that would require an insane number of containers and that I am always given a container with a lid. After some attitude, she eventually brought me the container. She then stayed in the back while the order was being assembled, and I had to ask for the container for the barbecue sauce, which should have been brought out with the family meal. Despite the poor service, I showed grace, said nothing rude, and wished everyone a Happy New Year on my way out. When I got home, I discovered the order was wrong. Instead of 3 pounds of pulled pork, I received pork ribs. My family does not eat ribs. The sides were also noticeably skimpy compared to past orders. I called the restaurant and returned to pick up the correct order. I showed the employee (the same one) the order receipt and a picture of the ribs to prove I was not mistaken. She immediately became rude, claiming the slip “looked like an R” and that she assumed it meant ribs. I pointed out the order slip clearly separates ribs and pork; she responded, “Well, at least you have free ribs,” walked off, and brought the correct order with no apology. I can show grace in many situations, but I will not tolerate rude, careless, and uncaring behavior. No customer should have to return home and then come back because the restaurant got their order wrong. I hope the owner addresses this issue. I do not want to have to go to a different barbecue restaurant, but I will if service continues to be this poor.

Google
Hands down the BEST brisket I’ve ever had! It was so soft, juicy and flavorful, staff was great and friendly thank you so much!!! Will definitely return when I’m in the area.

Yelp
THE best BBQ we've found in the east valley. Chicken so tender it melts in your mouth, and their seafood salad is a great side. Good portions great food, we have been back And this time I labeled the bbq sauces needed a sharpie to tell which was which. The house BBQ sauce was the best, the fiery feguero was way too hot for us...but to those who love heat it's tasty! You gotta try this food, service is homey and the smoked meats are wonderful tasting, prices good and we have a winner!

Yelp
WHOA. TRULY THE BEST BBQ IN MESA FOR SURE. The service was friendly and so quick. They have a small indoor seating area and an air conditioned and shaded parking lot area with picnic tables. The food. WOW. I ordered the trinity, which had three types of phenomenal choice meats that were soft and full of well seasoned and smoked flavor. Offered with two sides, I chose the Nacho Mac and the beans. THE BEANS. I will come back just for beans. SO GOOD. Sweet and savory all at once. The corn bread was dense which was perfect for marrying everything together in a bowl for harmonious pairings. The pecan pie at first bite didn't seem special, but I don't know how they enhanced the taste until the very end and it got better every single bite. We ordered a peach cobbler, too and I'm waiting for some room and I am so excited to try it!! 10/10 recommend and will be returning asap.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to Big Nates for a few years now. We were incredibly disappointed in our service tonight. When we first tried ordering online, I couldn't find the pulled pork plate that was listed on their menu. No big deal, I figured that this meant that the pulled pork was just not available, so I ordered the ribs instead. However my husband ordered the trio and he was able to get the pulled pork with that. When we arrived to pick up the food, we were told that they were unable to see our mobile order because their systems were down and they questioned whether brisket was in our order. When I confirmed that it was, they just reiterated they were out of brisket and they said the owner says they have to sell out by 5 pm. It was only 6 pm when we went and there was no mention of this on their website. They made no mention of swapping the meat out and my husband had to be the one to suggest it. We were incredibly disappointed and do not plan to return again as the brisket was my husband's favorite here and they apparently do not plan to serve it during dinner time in the future.

Yelp
I just ordered $200 worth of bbq from this place and I waited way past the time they said it was supposed to be ready. Also, they forgot two sides, one order of meat, and had the wrong cornbread. I had drove back and let them know what was missing/wrong. They said they were out of the normal cornbread (never told me the first time) and said they included the order of meat (which was wrong). Pretty awful service.

Yelp
Things we like about Nate's: location, easy drive from home, variety of sides and customer service. What we love about Nate's: the food! Bonus: sauce bar and amazing pickles!

Yelp
Great meat and sides, plus a station to grab condiments and sauces to your liking. Quick and friendly service. Has two tables inside as well as a group of tables in the parking lot. Perfect for a casual meal.

Yelp
We kept seeing the great reviews on this BBQ place Big Nates on FB and saw coupons all the time on Groupon and Clippings. So finally we broke down and decided to try this one out. We do have our favorites around town I will say they do give you a good portion of meat in this plate. 1/2 lb Brisket, Pork Ribs, Chicken then 1/4 of Chicken, Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, and Pulled Pork. You also get 4 sides. I chose loaded mashed potatoes, coleslaw, nacho Mac and chz, and potato salad. I think they are pretty skimpy on the sides when your paying nearly $80.00 for a BBQ plate but that's my opinion. (Sides are cheap) When I walked in, the 2 gentleman working at the Higley location were so welcoming, nice and friendly. I never caught his name but he made me laugh when I asked if the Fuego BBQ Was hot and he said he was Mexican. (Touche') . He recommended the mustard sauce for the sausages and it was a great recommendation. All the bbq sauces were great. The Sweet Heat was my favorite. Its a tiny location in a industrial area with 2 tables inside and a couple of tables outside next to parked cars. When it came to the food, the sides all were all pretty good. The Mac and cheese noodles could have been a little less cooked. The were really overcooked, but the flavor was great. Loved the coleslaw, it had a different flavor that I just couldn't pick up on but loved. Overall the meats were good, some better then others. Absolutely loved the Brisket it was nice, tender, juicy. The sausages had a nice snap and snuck up on you with the spice (perfect) The pulled pork definitely needed BBQ sauce didn't have much flavor with out it, but with it, it tasted good. The turkey was dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. Don't get me started on the chicken. That was the driest thing I have put in my mouth in a long time. It felt like eating sand dust. Even the bone was begging for water. I literally spit it out and threw it in the trash. Overall, would I recommend yes it's good BBQ. Is it the best I've had, no. Would I go back? Probably not. I have a few other favorites that are on my top list.

Yelp
I hear so much positive about this company and so worth the hype! The coleslaw is so yummy! Always fresh and service is always amazing
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Note that this place is located in a small spot in the middle of an industrial area so it feels a bit weird that it's the only restaurant in a sea of manufacturing stores. There's outdoor seating in the parking lot and two tables inside. This is one of those extremely rare places that will not give you a free glass of water. Note that their BBQ nachos are listed on their website but not in their in-store menu; this is the item I got which comes with two choices of beef plus a cup of hot queso. The food they give you is a good chunk for $18; I was able to finish 90% of it before being full. Overall, the meat was above average and the service was amiable enough.

Yelp
outstanding bbq. great customer service. The environment is very inviting and the vibe is great. Staff is very kind and look glad to be apart of what they provide
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
I found this place by accident and I'm glad that I did. The customer service is top notch. I walked in and was greeted immediately by the friendly staff. They answered all my questions, made some suggestions and even offered me samples. I told them that a lot of BBQ places that I've been to always have brisket that's always too dry. They brought out a sample of there's and... wow! It was tender, juicy and flavorful. Needless to say, I ordered some brisket and some ribs. Awesome! They have covered outdoor seating with picnic tables. They have a large cooling fan to make things more comfortable during the hotter months. I recently returned because of my previous experience with this Big Nate's. This time it was Beef Rib Day and, well, I can't say no to that! The beef rib was excellent! Tender, juicy and seasoned well. I have yet to be disappointed by Big Nate's, so I will be back to check out their other menu items.

Yelp
Great family style BBQ. Eat in or carry out. Brisket, turkey, chicken and all the sides. But order extra sides.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
Shocked. Shocked to kind this place with their food truck at a musical festival serving genuine top notch BBQ at reasonable prices. It was actually a steal considering their sides were also on another class of their own. The Cole slaw is hands down the best Cole slaw I've ever had. What's even in this???? The loaded potato's were rich, creamy and as someone that never orders mashed potatoes this is a high complement. The chicken: crispy skin, tender with a peppery seasoning. I'm a fan.
google avatar

Yelp
When you have to follow 3 "Open House" or "Yard Sale" type signs off the main road through a commercial building area to find a BBQ spot, you start wondering "What am I doing?? Where is this place?????" My Suggestion: Follow the effing signs!!! This place is so cool and fun! I love that it's tucked away off the road, the bright twinkling lights outside, the people working are super friendly and the BBQ is amazing! I got the Brisket Plate with Green Chili Cornbread, Nacho Mama's Mac 'n' Cheese and a Jalapeño Cheese Sausage....and a White Monster to wash it down! The brisket was juicy, had some burnt ends (my fav), good smoky flavor. They have 5 kinds of BBQ sauce to use (my fav was the Arizona Sweet Heat). The Green Chili Cornbread was moist and delicious...and the Jalapeño Cheddar sausage was good. On a scale of 1 to 10.....I'm gonna hit it again...and again...
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
The brisket and pulled pork were moist and delicious! From the meats, I was headed to a 5 star rating. Then we tried the sides and were underwhelmed. The corn bread (muffin) was flavorless, dry and hard. Ugh! The mashed potatoes were cold, underseasoned and unremarkable. The Mac and cheese was hard and overcooked and flavorless. My sides at-home are way better thanks to my Trager and BBQ cookbook. The staff was helpful and kind. The outdoor seating was well presented and clean. We got the last piece of smoked pecan pie and besides being tiny, the slice was missing the front tip, so ended up being only four fifths of a normal slice. Pro tip: get the meat, but skip the sides and pie. Meat was sensational!

Yelp
Came here yesterday with my family for a quick bite to eat. Upon entering, the place is bright and clean. Two nice guys were working behind the counter to help place our order. Dad got ribs with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. His only complaint was that the coleslaw was more vinaigrette than creamy, as he had expected. Mom ordered a pulled pork sandwich and used their sweet sauce, and had no complaints. Kiddo had the chicken with two sides and had no complaints. I just ordered a side of pulled pork sandwich (bunless for me) with mac and cheese and a drink. The pulled pork was delicious, and you get a generous portion. There was no fat, just all delicious cooked meat. The mac and cheese was good, but those noodles were a little too al dente, but I still had no problem scarfing them down. We only ordered one drink, which came with my combo. So, with a 15% tip, I believe the total came out to around $67, which I think was a very fair price for what we received. We are westsiders but would definitely eat here again if in their area.

Yelp
Just ate at Nate's and gotta say the service was quick and tasty. big Nate's sandwich is the go to move. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Great for lunch during work. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Saw an Instagram reel for the beef rib and it looked so delicious. I got a Groupon to try the Big PaPa Plate. I can put down some food, but the portions on this plate is enough for at least 3 people. I shared it with my sister and we split everything. There was more than enough for the both of us. There is a 1/2lb of each meat; brisket, ribs and chicken. 1/4lb of pulled pork, turkey, and jalapeno cheddar sausage. Then there is 4 sides to choose. I chose the nacho mac n cheese, loaded mashed potatoes, corn bread, and green chili corn bread. Being from Chicago I have a different pallette. I was told by others it's more refined which I accept. I mention this because there were a few items that were pretty tasty to me...the mac n cheese and pulled pork. The chicken parts given were chicken legs which is my least preferred part of the chicken, but they were seasoned well. The turkey was a little dry along the top of it, but had flavor. The brisket slices were moist and dry in spots. The rub on it was very peppery and didn't give any flavor to the brisket. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was my least favorite. Not sure if it was overpowered by the cheese flavor but it didn't taste like sausage. Both corn breads did not taste homemade so I couldn't enjoy that. The sauce station is cool with the different sauces. I liked the sweat heat sauce. Not spicy but it had little bit of a kick. There is a station for pickled red onions, pickles, and jalapenos...a nice addition to the food. I didn't expect the loaded mashed potatoes to be mixed up, They tasted decent, but would have liked to see and taste the loaded toppings on top of the mashed potatoes. I did a carry-out order and the great part about the experience was Noe. Shel was such a delight with excellent customer service. She was very high-spirited and kind. Positive attitude and all smiles. She was so nice she voluntarily fixed me a side of the pickles and onions in a container while I was getting bbq sauce. I plan to go back and try the beef rib which was what I saw in the reel and also what Noel recommended.

Yelp
First timer here! Absolutely loved the food. Tried their brisket sandwich and loaded mashed and would definitely recommend! You can taste the smokiness of the meat. Food came out quickly and service was wonderful. Would recommend.
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
My food was delivered, I cannot comment on the ambiance of the restaurant or the service of the staff. The food was okay, it probably would have been better hot and fresh, but GrubHub took over an hour to deliver. The flavor was there and the potions are large. I would try it again, but I wouldn't go to the actual location.
google avatar

Kelci S.

Yelp
Follow the signs! Nates BBQ is located in the back of an office park in Mesa. It's a small spot, but they are not lacking in flavor. I ordered the turkey plate, and I will probably be eating this for the next 3 days. The southwest pasta salad is really good. The turkey was a little on the salty side for me, but it was very tender & that sweet heat sauce drizzle was a pro move. The brisket was incredible, and I would recommend it ever time. This was a solid BBQ spot hidden in Mesa!
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
When we walked in, we were greeted warmly. We asked for recommendations on what is the best food. I ended up getting the chicken sandwich and a side of the beans. I was told these would be the best beans that you would ever have in your life. I would equate the beans to a Kroger barbecue beans. Chicken sandwich had ample amount of chicken, but there was no flavor in the chicken itself. Only flavor came by slathering on subpar barbecue sauce. My Pops was with me. He had the ribs. He said. They were very tender falling off the bone, but had no flavor to them. He agreed with me on the beans. There were also several flies throughout the restaurant
google avatar

Gina E.

Yelp
I went here for the first time recently on a Friday to load up on protein for the weekend. I got the Big Nate Plate with double coleslaw and it was all tender, tasty and filling. I also got the huge beef rib. So good. Holy heck. I recommend studying the menu before you go. The parking is a bit awkward but you know you made the right decision before opening the door. The incredible smells hit you. The prices are high, but the value is there. I like how you add your own sauce since sauce doesn't agree with me. Even unsauced, the flavor is tremendous All this place does is encourage me to get my own grilling and smoker setup. That would be heavenly. But until then, I'll come here and support this mom & pop business. There's just enough room for a wheelchair/ power chair when getting in and out. It's a bit snug.
google avatar

Logan L.

Yelp
We heard from a friend about Big Nate's family BBQ, followed the signs on the street to the restaurant storefront. We tried 3 free samples there, and decided to get the Big Nate plate, to get a variety of meats. The chicken was tender and juicy, pork was fabulous, brisket was smoked perfectly, ribs were fall off the bone. We were blown away! We'll definitely be back, and bring others with us as they have nice indoor and outdoor seating.

Ralph B.

Yelp
Long time customer, but everything has gone downhill. They don't even put sauce on the ribs anymore as the owners instructed, and no seasoning on the brisket. Parents owned it originally, now two sons, Ray and Eric. Tops don't fit the containers and they taped them up, but still don't fit. Workers complained about it too. The sauce was mislabeled. Never going back again. Really terrible. Going back to Famous Dave's even though it's 20 minutes away. Owners are hardly ever there anymore.
google avatar

Randy M.

Yelp
The food is wonderful! Cooked by people who care! We love the Brisket and the Ribs! On the weekends they offer Beef Ribs!

Luke S.

Yelp
I'd like to start off by saying that this place made me download yelp for the first time in order to leave this review. If you plan on coming to Mesa for any reason or you live here, this place is a must to stop by. We and a friend had just landed at Falcon Field and decided to try the first place we saw. When we pulled into an industrial park for food I didn't have high expectations but this place blew us out of the water. This will be my one and only review in which I am telling you...go to Big Nate's Family BBQ.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
My husband and son had gone last week to try out this bbq spot, and today he took me to Big a Nate's for lunch! It's in a remote area where you wouldn't think of a bbq place being, but it works great for them! Such a nice set up, they have a couple places to in inside and they have an area outside with a huge fan to keep it cooler! The employees are very kind!! And the food is seriously delicious, best BBQ SPOT IN MESA THAT I HAVE TRIED SO FAR!! They have the best brisket and their jalapeño cheddar sausage links are mouthwatering good! Loaded mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese are great sides!! They have so many different bbq sauces options to choose from! They serve big plates, you could share and still be full! I brought half of my plate home for dinner! And in the box to go it looks like a full order. A serious must try bbq spot!
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
This is my new favorite BBQ place! Very good BBQ. My favorite was the pulled pork and chicken but the brisket and pork ribs are also done very well. Loved the coleslaw and beans that came with. Restaurant in an industrial park? No problem. They have family place-summer vibe-picnic seating outside (comfortable & cool with big swamp cooler). Recommend.

Kari Z.

Yelp
I have been to Nate's BBQ, great food and service . But not sure what has happened to the service , I came in 10 min tell closing and all signs in the roads and front door was open and people eating , And I was turned down for service . In front of the customers, quite embarrassing and Was not happy . Not a good way to have a Business .

Yelp
Check this place out!!! It feels so tucked away and hidden and everything we had was good. All of their bbq was good and of course the Mac n cheese was yummy too. The service was helpful, kind and knowledgeable about their menu. The ambiance is fun in that they have tables outside in the parking lot. Would go back!

Janet B.

Yelp
Big Nate has amazing barbecue! Their macaroni and cheese is to die for! And the brisket is cooked to perfection

Alan W.

Yelp
This place is amazing. If you come and just smell the smoke around the outdoor picnic area, you won't be able to leave without ordering some delicious lunch or dinner. We order from here every time we have visitors at home and everyone thinks it's amazing food.
google avatar

Hiilei W.

Yelp
We met someone from big island Hawaii who works there, small world! Service was nice and food came fast. Super delicious and moist, for someone who doesn't like bbq flavor it was perfect because we put our own bbq sauce on our food. Good price for the portion, my favorite was the pulled pork. They give samples if you can't decide. There's free arcade games inside and a place to eat outside, come support and check this place out!

Lilly K.

Yelp
The food is amazing! Costumer service is the best you will get anywhere now a days! Ambiance is cozy and fits well with being a barbecue place! Did I mention the food is amazing?

Tina G.

Yelp
Big Nate's is a great BBQ stop for anyone. Their meals are well proportioned, delicious, and the sauce is the best. My favorite sides are Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw. Thank you for cooking for me twice a month!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
The bbq here is very good. I had a big nate sandwich with pulled pork, brisket and smoked jalapeno sausage. I also had some mac & cheese and baked beans which was excellent as well. The bbq sauces were really good and the staff was really nice. I'll be going back to try ribs on my next trip.
google avatar

Micah A.

Yelp
The food was great, Mac and cheese was one of my favs in the valley and the pulled pork on its own was not dry at all. My partner had the chicken and said it was very good. Service was great, although I didn't ask much, but while I was there, the staff were very accommodating to someone with celiacs and made sure to change gloves while making her food. The restaurant dining room is pretty standard for a BBQ, but they do have white bread just available by the drinks and plenty of bottles and pumps for the sauce. If you know other BBQ places in the valley, I'd put this a bit above Caldwell County, and the BBQ itself is on par with Bobby Q (although Bobby Q is less casual so I wouldn't compare the restaurants overall).
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
Good bbq and sauces! There was a hiccup with my order but the young lady that works the front not only was she very nice and professional she handled my issue fast and without issues! I really appreciate that thank you Nate's!

Chris F.

Yelp
Best damn BBQ in the valley. Eric is great. We smoke meat at home but now I guess I don't need to put in the work.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Barbecue is tough to get consistent at scale. Nate's does a great job with their chicken quarters, ribs, and pulled pork. Brisket can be hit or miss. Turkey is usually way too salty and dry. Sauces are really great as are some of their sides (slaw, southwestern pasta salad). Definitely the best barbecue in the East Mesa area. Head and shoulders above Jalapeño Bucks. Not quite running with Little Miss but would give Caldwell County a run on many things. Overall recommended.

Yelp
Best BBQ ever! Best family ever! Do not sleep on this hidden spot or you will definitely regret it. All of the food is mouth-watering and I would say the best bbq in AZ I have had to date. We love the brisket, the ribs, the chicken - really we have not tried anything we have not loved. If you check them out on a Friday or Saturday - definitely ask about the dino rib. Do not pass on the sides - grab all the carbs - the mashed potatoes yummm, the mac and cheese heaven, the beans beyond glorious! They have many different sauce options as well to go with your meal and offer your freebies if you purchase some Big Nate's swag and wear it on your visits. This family is the best and always friendly and helpful when you visit. Become a regular - you will not regret it - I promise!

Yelp
I was a little nervous pulling up here Saturday night because it was pretty crowded so I wasn't sure I was going to get a place to sit. I took and chance and it worked out. Food was great, had the chicken, brisket, pulled pork plate with Mac & cheese and corn bread. Great meal overall.

Yelp
Ok so this is a little hidden from the main road. But I'll tell ya what. I had the pork ribs and potato salad and coleslaw . I tasted the Mac salad I think it's called southwest pasta salad. It was really good. So if you want a cool little quiet place to have lunch and or dinner. They have some outside under an awning so you're not right in the sun. The employees were very nice and welcoming.

Yelp
I called late. They still accommodated me. I got that right before closing. They hooked it up good. Food was great.

Yelp
Came to try based on the reviews. Really disappointed. I ordered the Trinity with Mac&Cheese! Hubby ordered the ribs with Coleslaw. Mac and coleslaw were good. Brisket was way too salty, pulled pork was dry and way too shredded. Chicken legs were good. My husband's ribs were extremely dry and did not appear to be freshly smoked. We smoke so we know day or two old ribs. Ambiance sucks. There are only 2 inside seats and all the outdoor picnic tables are in parking places surrounded by automotive shops. The smell of brake fluid wafted through our table. Pretty unappetizing. It looks like most of the business is to go. We won't be back.

Yelp
Got a buy one get one free the other day. Pulled pork sandwich and side of loaded mash potatoes. This is the location on Power Rd.... The sandwich was ok, not great but the loaded mash potatoes were inedible..like the cap fell off the salt shaker while they were adding the salt! Soooo salty, could not eat. Not the 1st time as I've had way over salted food here but unfortunately, will be my last.

Yelp
Take note when you see a small, hidden business with five star reviews. You can bet they know what they're doing. That's why I wasn't too surprised when Big Nate's served us up a first class experience. Eric greeted me with a friendly smile and answered any questions I had. I love that they have a serve yourself area with five types of BBQ sauce. They also have homemade pickles, onions and jalapeños. Of course, they have a Sharpie out so you can label your containers. I had the brisket sandwich and it was incredible. It was overflowing with moist, flavorful meat - some of the best brisket I've had in town. The meat stood on its own, it really didn't need a drop of sauce. That being said all of the sauces highlighted the meat nicely too - in small amounts. My husband tried the Big Nate Sandwich. It comes with two meats, sausage, coleslaw and a side. He loved it, but felt like he'd ordered more food than he could handle! Big Nate's is doing a fine job with bbq. We plan to return and try more delicious items.
