I love this place so much! Incredible people with incredible hearts doing incredible things for the community. I moved to LA two years ago and found Big Sunday when I Google searched volunteer opportunities near me. Best decision ever! This was my first home in LA and volunteering with them is the highlight of my week! Highly recommend ❤️

I drove from the Bay Area to donate to the fire victims. We were turned away three times. Big Sunday welcomed us with open arms. Thank you so much!

Wonderful organization that does a variety of volunteer activities. My daughters and I attended the 6th annual books and brunch! What an awesome event! I'm so happy to find a place where you can take your kids to volunteer.

Yelp
Helping people help others, if that doesn't make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside then you aren't my cup of tea. I was reunited with Big Sunday this morning through a volunteer event for my companies Global Impact Day, a day where our associates throughout the world give back and make a difference in our communities - something that really, I strive to do all of the time. I was first introduced to Big Sunday in 2016 with the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council. Each opportunity to volunteer with Big Sunday has been a wonderful and rewarding experience, whether potting plants along the boulevard with the SONC Green & Beautification Committee or organizing, boxing and labeling hundreds of children's costumes for underprivileged children on site at Big Sunday in Hollywood. Big Sunday is organized, well run, and always full of really amazing volunteers- an excellent way to spend some time helping, to help others. I look forward to becoming even more involved with them and would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a way to give back and impact your local community on a solo level, with friends and family or on a larger scale corporate level.

Yelp
This is the second year in a row that I volunteered for the Valentines card making party. The great thing about this organization is that is very well run, they provide all supplies and even food. They also even have a bingo aspect to it and this year we got free T-shirts. There's always free water and free dinner. The dinner is usually pasta, salad, and also garlic bread. It's actually very good because I think they get it catered from somewhere. Last year I didn't stay for dinner but this year I did and it's very nice. They do encourage you to at least make one new friend while you're there as it is very much about being social and having a good time and I not just volunteering. I also saw a celebrity here today. That was neat. I don't know if anybody else realized it and nobody made a big fuss either which was probably very helpful.

Yelp
One of the most organized and easy locations to volunteer. I understand that's not what volunteering always stands for, but if you're looking for a volunteer opportunity that is engaging, fun, but meaningful without being super intimidating, this is the place! It's something families can do together, but you can also show up alone, and have a good time. We sorted books by genre to go to certain places (i.e., schools would get children's books while adult novels might go to nursing homes). It was an easy task, but needed to be done! They provided breakfast and t-shirts at this event. I'm definitely going back here for other opportunities.

Yelp
Eager to volunteer? Big Sunday provides a variety of opportunities for everyone to help, including children. Young, old, able or not so able, this wonderful, inclusive organization believes everyone can contribute something, and they're right! It's touching to see kids create Valentines, decorate doggie blankets, and paint ornaments. You can sort clothing at their massive annual MLK Clothing Drive, stuff bags of food for Thanksgiving, decorate Christmas trees for the veterans, etc. They've always provided food and drink (including breakfast for over 850 people on MLK day) at every event I've attended, and sometimes, there's even a live band. If you only have an hour and a half to spare, pop into one of their well-organized Monday or Thursday weekly gatherings, where you can do things such as make PB&J sandwiches, put together hygiene kits, and decorate cookies for all kinds of needy organizations. There's plenty of unrestricted free parking two blocks south of Melrose. Just make sure you read the signs. Request their newsletter, and see what suits you best. Unlike many places, you don't have to commit weeks in advance or on a regular basis. You can make a big difference at Big Sunday!

Yelp
It is difficult to express in words the wonder of this organization! Another prime example of how one person(man in this case) can start something and a domino effect for the good can continue. The man who started Big Sunday is a very humble and good guy! And just as much kudos to his wife who is whole heartedly involved in Big Sunday. As I stood and listened to his speech on MLK Day about coming together and then sang along with hundreds of people of all ages, colors etc. to the song "My Girl" with the Motown band "Blue Breeze", I was in awe and thought about MLK's "I Had a Dream" speech and knew MLK would have been proud of this sight! As well as many other events I have attended. The concept of a "community building" organization, not a "charity" is outstanding! As for other info...usually pretty easy to park around the Big Sunday office. Read signs but most areas are 2 hour parking and a few blocks away no time limit, pretty good for LA. Always a warm atmosphere facilitated by warm staff! If you have kids who need "community service" hours, great place. Even if they don't, a great positive approach to teach them about helping others!
