Did a road trip to Big Sur over the weekend and did everything I wanted to do including Pfeiffer Falls, Henry Miller bookstore, Bixby Bridge, etc. However, getting food was another story! I wanted to dine in at Nepenthe and it was a diaster! 2 Hour wait for 2 people! No thanks. All the other cafes and restaurants seemed packed with lines out the door. Just the nature of reopening from the pandemic and summer. It was so difficult to get food in Big Sur!
If you are going to Big Sur, would suggest arrive early. We arrived at around 12noon and most of everything is packed. I would suggest heading to Big Sur Deli to pick up pre-made sandwiches. I ordered a Roast Beef pre-made. It was made earlier in the morning and was not bad. The bread was a bit hard. I would also suggest having them make you a fresh sandwich there! This deli does have everything you need...chips, snacks, drinks, Big Sur souvenirs. Check out their drinks too! They have some great drinks in glass bottles like their Orange Creme Soda and organic fresh brewed teas. This is a great stop to stock up so you can avoid long restaurant lines and enjoy more time hiking or beaching versus standing 2 hours just to get food. Enjoy Big Sur!
