We queued for this ride for well over an hour, possibly closer to an hour and a half. Once you’re in the queue, there aren’t many exits, so you’re more or less committed to waiting it out. The queue moves slowly, but the anticipation builds as you get closer. When we finally got on, both trains were running.
The ride itself was high-speed and full of sharp twists and turns. You don’t really get to see much of Big Thunder Mountain during the ride because it’s over so quickly, but it’s definitely an exhilarating experience. The theming around the mountain and the mine train design is really well done and adds to the excitement. It’s easy to see why this is one of the park’s most popular attractions.
Make sure to hold on tight to your belongings, the attendants will remind you to remove hats, Mickey ears, or anything loose before boarding, and they’re absolutely right because they will fly off.
The ride can be a bit bumpy in places, so it’s probably not ideal for anyone with back or neck problems. Overall, though, it’s a must-do if you enjoy fast-paced roller coasters with great theming.
