Dominique at the register was so friendly, patient, kind, helpful. I couldn’t decide between jerk and curry chicken (for the bowl) and they gave me half of each. The food was delicious - the pineapple salsa was really nice - and the portions were very generous especially for Chelsea market. My friends got sorrel, patties, coco bread and soup and said those also tasted great. Music keeps the place lively. Highly recommend!

The best Jamaican food I have ever had, I traveled all the way from Boston and made it my mission. To eat here again! Soooo worth it. The food tastes amazing and the employees are extremely nice! I wish I lived in New York so that I could visit more often! Keep up the great work Big Tings!!!

Tender, juicy, a slight spice, and flavorful. The jerk chicken at this place is spot on. I ordered a jerk chicken sandwich, would honestly just recommend going for the jerk chicken bowl. Although the meat between the bread was excellent, the bun was subpar. Coleslaw was fresh and yummy. Lots of seating and vibrant energy. Come eat here !!!!!!

Unassuming place doing Big Tings! Went for a snack and ended up getting everything. The jerk chicken sandwich was amazing! Very saucy. The veggies give it a nice crunch. Only downside is the sauce made the bread a bit soggy. Mac and cheese came piping hot and was delicious. Mixed this with with the sauce and jerk chicken for a great combo! Got a chicken curry patty which tasted great flaky crust and filling. Tasted like a Jamaican chicken pot pie. Drank my first Ting. Yum. Last but not least was the warm banana bread pudding. Amazing. Definitely recommend but have to eat it there fresh. Wouldn’t be good to go.

Such a great spot for Jamaican food! The food, specifically the chicken, was excellent. Incredible flavours and mixes of sweet and salty. The service was super nice and friendly. The atmosphere was charming in Chelsea’s market. Given the quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be back!

Had the oxtail rice bowl and it was a flavor explosion - everything was delicious and the meat was especially juicy. Plenty of counter seating around and they have sides and drinks as well. Would try to do more of the dishes here.

We had the curried chicken and jerk chicken, both with rice, and a bottle of ginger beer. Found a place to sit (can be tricky in a place like this) and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The chicken was super moist and the rice was super tasty. Really great food. Service was fine, music tad loud but nice fit to the food & atmosphere. Place really reminded me of my trip to Jamaica - best Jamaican food I've had in years, to be honest.

This place exceeds descriptive vocabulary. Employees delivered superior service and dishes arrived quickly. This spot offers the freshest ingredients without the premium cost. You pay fair prices for generous servings here. I couldn't identify any weaknesses.

If you are a big fan of Jamaican food, this is the place for you. I ordered the beef patty and wings. They had an option to add more to the patty for a little extra cost, which was definitely worth it. I only wanted to try some of the wings and they were full of flavor. The line was relatively long when I went, but definitely worth it. I can wait to go back and try some oxtail.

This spot is located within Chelsea Market. The service was very quick, but would not say the food was worth the price. Ordered the oxtail bowl and jerk chicken bowl but unfortunately my favorite thing was the rice :( The salsa was an interesting touch. If I return, would probably try a different menu item

Big Tings@Chelsea Market 75 9th. Ave. New York, NY 10011 Jerk Chicken The jerk chicken atop the rice and cabbage was nothing unique. It wasn't horrible or spectacular, but it was rather pricey for something that I could have bought anywhere at a cheaper price.

I can't recommend this spot enough! Not only is the food delicious, but the staff is incredibly friendly!! The chicken was so flavorful and juicy and I loved the pineapple salsa. Definitely stop by here if you're looking for good food and friendly service.

Big tings jerk chicken and rum bar was bussin. I had a veggie fatty patty because they were out of the curry chicken Pattie's but I wasn't disappointed. I don't hold it against them because authentic Jamaican spots are always out of something, I wouldn't trust it if they weren't. It's the real deal though. It's located inside of Chelsea food market if you want to try it out.

Went on a tour to see Lady liberty and came here after. It was about an 11 minute walk. Didn't realize it was in Chelsea's market until I got here. There is bar seating and thats really it as its businesses surrounding this gem. The jerk chicken was spicy. Like make my nose run. I really couldn't taste the flavors because it was so hot. The pineapple salsa was so good and added more flavor and complimented the chicken well and gave it more flavor. The rice and peas and cabbage was soo good and flavorful. And that chicken pattie was soo good and flaky. Wish I got another one it was soo good. We came here around 3 and I left with jerk chicken. I didn't eat the rest until around 10. By that time the flavors set in and it was even better. I would love to try the curry chicken the next time because the pattie was so good! I'm coming back.

Visited Big Tings while visiting New York inside the Chelsea Market. Cute, clean, and well put together establishment. Customer service was a 10/10 menu items were clear and concise, I ordered a beef patty and an oxtail bowl. The oxtail bowl came with cabbage, rice and beans, a nice portion that I was able to share and wash full before I could finish my half. We sat at bar and ate good was playing and the ambiance set the tone. I'm glad I found this place, everything was really good and flavorful!

Fast service, food is premaid so can get in and out quickly. A little too much salt for my taste but still flavorful and delicious!

Chelsea Market never disappoints with their food choices. Big Tings packed the what with their jerk chicken sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised with how much meat was served as well. Unfortunately, it seemed that all the flavor was in the sauce which was extremely runny. A bite without the juices was not as flavorful as one would expect. Although the tasty bites balanced out the plain one to create a good sandwich with nothing overwhelming from a taste or spice perspective.

First time trying Big Tings. A total novice eating Jamaican food but my sister and I passed Big Tings at the Chelsea Market and suddenly had to have Jerk chicken. We were a little worried about the potential intensity of the heat but they were so kind to give us a tiny sample without asking for it. The chicken was spicy but not unbearable and we knew it would be less spicy once paired with other ingredients and a frozen strawberry daiquiri! So we went for the Jerk Chicken Sandwich and it was a complete home run!!! Wonderful, messy, finger licking deliciousness! Staff was so nice, came to check on our heat tolerance a few times, it made for a very nice experience all around. Will definitely go back!

The burrito was delicious, should be the go to. The Mac and cheese looked good, didn't know it was old or something but it was a miss. The sorrel iced tea wasn't the best, tastes like a watered down sorrel. The bread pudding was delicious, and the curry chicken pattie tastes like it was from BJ's Wholesale. But those patties are good though. The customer service was A1, nice people working there. They have seating where you can sit and eat or grab and go.

Great lunch portion with a hearty amount of protein! Jerk chicken was a smidge pricey, but so is everything in Chelsea market! Wish the chicken was a bit more seasoned, but still an exceptional lunch! Pineapple slaw is incredible Cheers!

10/10. The jerk chicken was amazing, it fell right off the bone, the flavor of it and everything was great. I had a side of rice & peas and they were great as well, had their own flavor without needing to put it together with the chicken.

This food is really not it. I've tried to give them so many chances - I've tried curry chicken, oxtail AND jerk chicken. The food here is soooo watery to me. I don't know. I asked them to put the sauce on the side this time because I thought that was what was ruining it for me. Nope. Just watery. And so lacking in authentic Jamaican flavors. Better off taking $20+ elsewhere.

All my life I've been searching for jerk salmon. I got it at Tings and it was very good! I used to think it wasn't a real thing. I was wrong. Service was good, as good as it gets at a food stand, and I enjoyed my meal. It was a nice portion of rice and peas, cabbage and salmon with good flavor. Not too hot. I'd definitely return.

This little Jamaican stall tucked into Chelsea Market knows what it's doing. I ordered the jerk chicken with plantains and rice and peas. The chicken had real flavor, not just heat for the sake of it. Smoky, spicy, and perfectly tender. The plantains were sweet and golden, and the rice held its own without needing extra sauce. The service was fast and friendly, even during a busy lunch rush. They made the whole thing feel like a quick trip home for anyone who grew up on island flavors. If you're in Chelsea Market and want something comforting, bold, and actually satisfying, skip the hype spots and head to Tings. I'll definitely be back.

I love Chelsea Market, there is such a variety of different foods to try all in one place. I love Caribbean food, so that's already very telling as to why my rating is so high. I got the oxtail with rice and coleslaw, and it was phenomenal. The oxtail wasn't too sweet and tasted just right. It is a bit pricey because you are in Chelsea, and there aren't too many seats, but people usually go in and out quite quickly. The service was great, everyone was vibey and the music was of course steller, afro beats can never go wrong.

I was just gonna call it a draw and say it was passable if forgettable meal, because it was, but now I'm looking at other people's jerk chicken bowl orders and I'm pissed! I ordered jerk chicken, but that's not what I was given. What I got was more like spicy stew chicken (and no, stew chicken is not on the menu). In fact, I'm not entirely sure I wasn't just served scraps of chicken from the cutting board. The positive is that the rice and peas was quality, which shouldn't be a rarity these days but is, as was the cabbage and the little mango salsa. Nothing to write home about but pleasant. I can't even say the chicken was all terrible because it wasn't; J could tell that the spices used to make it were fresh. But this missed several marks for jerk chicken. And no, this was definitely not curry chicken either. It was all basically just shredded scraps, spicier than your typical stew chicken, but nonetheless lacking in what jerk chicken should have, including some amount of bite and roast-y skin. I was given no on-the-bone pieces like I'm seeing in other reviews. Maybe I was legit given scraps of actual jerk chicken that got soggy due to the rice and gravy (I'm assuming, wouldn't call it "sauce"), or just some half-jerk, half-stewed concoction someone made because they were lacking something else. Either way, I was short-changed. If you ran out of something, just say so.

The jerk chicken and jerk salmon were both delicious. Service was great and ambiance was busy and vibrant. I also had the sorrel which was good but not as strong and concentrated as I prefer. It's hard to find yummy Jamaican food. This was solid. Maybe some of the best I've had in Manhattan.

I was so excited to eat some Jamaican food in NY. I got the oxtail plate with a side of plantains. The oxtail was rubbery with a lot of fat left on. I couldn't eat it. Had good flavor, but horrible texture and quality. Rice was most likely instant. The plantains were dry and flavorless. I spent $36.84 and had to just toss the whole plate out. Sadly disappointed.

Fast casual very worthwhile spot in the Chelsea market. Split the Jamaican jerk burrito with a friend - it was huge and plenty of food for both of us. Lots of flavor but not overly spicy. Highly recommend! Only complaint is the singular wine option for white but this isn't a sit and stay a while spot. It's great for what it is.

I loved my experience here! Quick and VERY friendly service, delicious flavorful food. It's quite expensive for a lunch spot but the flavors were immaculate and the meat was melt in your mouth good.

Customer service was amazing. Nice and accommodating. We got the jerk chicken rice bowl and it was great, and the right amount of spice. A vibe , nice music playing.

3.5 Stars. I love me Jamaican food. This is located inside Chelsea Market. For NYE I wanted to end the year by eating ox tail stew. However, the price tag made me faint, and made my heart sank. I was in major in sticker shock. I've had this countless of times, at various places. I've even made this too. So I was willing to pay that amount. However, I despise places that charge a high amount, and you get mountains of rice and peas with a little bit of protein. From what I saw, I was not impressed. The oxtail barely had meat on the bones and the stew wasn't very gravy like. Which tells me it's been reheated a lot. For me, if the meat isn't tender and following off the bone, I don't want it. For the rice and peas, I don't like mushy rice. I settled for a beef patty, sadly they had no coco bread. I love to make a sandwich out of my patty and add oxtail gravy. Jerk Chicken was good. I give them props. Very well seasoned and leaves your lips tingling Service is great. Very nice young man running the whole operation. I wish they sold coco bread!! To get to Chelsea Market, it's too your right as your leaving Moynihan Station. Opposite direction of Times Square. Get here before 7pm, to get good food. After 7, you'll get scraps.

The food was AMAZING. The jerk chicken sandwich was the best I've ever had. That chicken was so flavorful and tender and just perfect. We also had the beef patty and mac and cheese which were both awesome. I don't know what they put in the mac and cheese, but it was incredible. Also loved the music and friendly staff. We went twice in one weekend!

GREAT spot for some JA food on the go...or for a quick sit down. Got Red Stripe and other tropical cocktails. Friendly service and lovely island decor.

Customer service was GREAT, the people working here are so nice. The food was so good. I had the jerk chicken which fell off the bone, and the rice and peas with cabbage. Oh and the Mac and cheese was just right! ! To drink we had a rum punch that def hit the spot. (I also had the warm banana bread, which was tasty but I could've done without). I loved the ambiance, they played music which added to the Jamaican vibe.

This was our first time here. We got the jerk chicken which was delicious. Service wasn't very fast but it was friendly. And the food was good. I'd recommend it for sure.

Great vegetarian options, had the curried vegetable burrito which was great with cabbage, sour cream etc.... I would've given it a 4.5 but then asked for the fyah hot sauce which made it an absolute 5.... Beware of the fyah: it be fire mon!

It was excellent. Well seasoned. The chicken is juicy and moist. The pineapple sauce works beautifully. The prices are fair. The customer service was excellent. We'll be back.

Food was okay but the service was awful. The pina colada was not very good either. The jerk chicken was good but seemed inconsistent as mine was bland and my friends was spicy.

*Take-out/Pick-up during COVID-19 review* Do you know how excited I was to find out there was a Jamaican restaurant in Chelsea Market?? Literally blocks from my home base. I grew up in Chelsea and over the past 20+ years the only noteworthy Jamaican restaurant in Chelsea was Negril on 23rd Street and 9th ave, which sadly closed years ago. So after that drought when I saw this establishment pop-up it gave me joy. Now, I write this review with the most thoughtfulness but must state the facts. As I passed all the other restaurants on Chelsea Market row I noticed the strong popularity of the Taco joints and wondered about all the hype. Once I got to the Jamaican restaurant window we followed directions and placed a call to make our order. Oxtail is a must when trying out a new Jamaican restaurant. Honestly, to me it is the gold medal winner for Jamaican dishes in my opinion....Oxtail a di bes! So of course we ordered the Oxtail and some Beef Patties. You usually can't go wrong with Beef patties although there are some basic requirements. Now when I opened the Oxtail order I felt gipped. Lets me real, most Caribbean restaurants give you at least a little garnish of some kind, usually in the form of shredded cabbage and carrots or what we call cabbage slaw but this order had no veggies at all! Next, the rice and peas although tasty and with the right amount of gravy, was very skimpy. There should have been at least another cup full of rice in my container. Finally, the Oxtail was also well flavoredl. The pimento and tyme with the other seasonings were right. But once again, I counted my Oxtail bones and felt at least two more chunks should have been in the box. Call me picky, but let's just be honest. Oxtail is not cheap and I know Chelsea Market rent is not cheap either but if you want people to keep coming back you gotta give them more to work with.

Excellent food. Had the Jerk chicken burrito wrap. Very tasty, spicy. My friend had the jerk chicken with rice and peas which she loved. She also had fresh fruit juice which tasted like green apples.

Truly equivalent to fast food panda... except it was priced double. Overall value 1/5, taste 3/5. Just rice with cooked down ox tail and goat. I wasn't impressed and was disappointed with the quality. First time trying jamaican food tho so take it with a grain of salt.

Atmosphere: Tings is a small stand in Chelsea Market with some surrounding seats. Service: It was a one-man operation when we went, but he handled payment, preparation, and presentation with ease. It seemed that all orders were to-go. Food: We ordered the jerk chicken and were pleasantly surprised, as this was our first time trying Jamaican jerk chicken. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and we especially loved the pineapples that came with the pineapple salsa. The rice was also well-seasoned and was a great base to the plate! Overall: Tings was a great introduction to Jamaican jerk chicken. While a bit on the pricey end, the chicken and its accompanying sides made for a delicious meal. We hope to explore more of Tings's menu!

I want to love this spot more but I feel a bit disappointed in the flavors here. The jerk chicken looks like it's got good char and it's tender and moist but oddly bland. The jerk sauce that was poured on was pretty one-note and didn't add much. Maybe I should've asked for extra hot sauce? I've just had so much better jerk chicken elsewhere that I can't really say this spot with fulfill a craving for jerk. Mac and cheese is VERY cheesy. It's rich and pretty good, but nothing particularly special. They were pretty generous with the portion of mac and cheese that I got. Staff are nice and quick. Pineapple salsa is great! It was nice to have a bit of that sweetness in the meal. It's definitely Chelsea Market prices, without the huge portions out in Brooklyn.

Delicious, well seasoned and flavorful Jamaican food. The curry goat is tender and juicy and goes great with the rice and peas. Love this little spot in the city. Very warm and inviting space. Great customer service. Will definitely be back for more!

Sooooo ya Girl was hungry getting off a work. Looked up some places on Yelp and realized Chelsea Market was within walking distance so I figured why not, always heard good things about the place? I decided to walk through the whole market and wow everything smelled so gooooood. After circling the place I decided to go with the Jerk Chicken combo at Tings with a Nutella Strawberry Banana Crepe Delma Suzette's. Everything was delicious!!! Chicken so juicy and crepe so sweet. Treat yourself next time you're in the area. Thankfully they're right next to one another!

Absolutely love this little shop in Chelsea Market. While it's a little pricey for counter service, the portions are massive. My mom and I shared the jerk chicken plate and it was more than enough food for two people. The chicken was so tender and perfectly spiced. The rice and peas phenomenal. The guy at the counter was super sweet and kind enough to cut our chicken in half to make it easier to share. Wheelchair access: accessible through Chelsea Market. While the main entrance is down steps, there is an alternate path in the main part of the market. You may need maintenance or security to unlock the access if it's limited to badge access the day you are there.

I would rate this place 4.5 stars. Everything was really good! The jerk sauce in the rice was probably my favorite part though. The sauce is really unique and I loved that it came with pineapple salsa as well. While the chicken tasted amazing, I will say it was a bit hard to eat because it was on the bone, and I felt like I wasted a lot that I couldn't get off the bone. Their fresh juices were sold out when we went at 2pm, but sounded really good! I'll definitely be back to try them, but probably earlier in the day, so they won't have sold out!

Tried the oxtail stew. The taste was there but it was on the little salty side for me. It came with their rice cooked with beans which was also flavorful so I think white rice would've helped balance out the salt. We still enjoyed it, and curious to try their other items.

Four stars is generous. This place is located in the Chelsea market. Went at 1:30 pm and amidst the business of this market , TINGS had no line. Lunch for 3, with drinks was $78. The staff was pleasant. I had the oxtails -which weren't many, but they were tasty.

OMG GREAT WONDERFUL DELICIOUS in Chelsea Market now called BIG TINGS. Soulful Soup of the day Outrageously good , simple complex perfectly made. Today was a purer of yellow split pea with sweet corn !!!!!!!

I got the ital stew with a side of rice and peas and a veggie patty. The patty was great. A lot of flavor! The ital stew was kinda bland, not a huge fan. I think it could have been more spicy too. But the jerk chicken looked super good so I'd come back and get that next time.
