Just arrived KL. We were taken to lunch at this restaurant at Taman Connaught, Cheras KL. It's a very old restaurant that started under a tree, that's how it got it's name. The food was very good & prices were very reasonable. The servings were big. That's why she survived for a long time and expanded to another outlet. We ordered a steamed fish head, pork belly with salted fish, belachan mixed veggie, seafood tofu, and sweet potato leaves. All eaten with rice. The menu is quite standard. That's how the turn around was pretty fast although the crowd was large during lunch time. If you could compromise with a not so pleasant environment & close an eye on hygiene, you can have a tasty meal with very reasonable price here. The toilet was at the back of another house opposite the back lane!! As for parking, one had to find an empty space at the back lane & depending on one's lucky star. 🙏👌

Our first time here. This is a simple food but tastes amazing. The ginger steam fish was absolutely amazing and a must try. Next to it will be the long beans n stinky beans combo (never have I tasted that combo before) just wow. Their home made tofu is also good. And their thin sliced pork belly..... Wah.... Juicy, tender n so flavorful. A must try for all locals. Parking can be tricky, so plan ahead there.

This place has been in existence for more than 20 years (that's counting the first time I discovered it by chance when I squeezed into this lorong to avoid the after school traffic jam). Of course, the main dish to try is the fish head, be it steam with garlic, bean paste or cheong-cheng. Many years ago, they use to serve stingray asam pedals which is absolutely wonderful but alas that is no longer on the menu. Lunch time crowd is packed. It's absolutely necessary to book ahead to avoid waiting. Since it very shady, it is not very hot even during the midday sun overhead. Plenty of fans to ventilate and dissipate away the heat. Parking is a challenge as the back lane is quite narrow but there are plenty more available at the residential area. Many-many years ago, there is no toilet facility and the arrangement is to use the one at the opposite house. However, things have improved since they bought over the house. For those who did not make reservations, chairs are provided outside to wait in queue.

Absolutely wonderful and possibly the nicest steam fish I ever had. All the meals were good and freshly prepared. Portion for each dish was good for 2-3 pax easily. The fish is the highlight. A big succulent fish only cost us rm45. Service was good. Lunch was crowded, maybe a little slow but nevertheless fast and attentive

One of the Best Authentic Home Cook Food with a reasonable price. Friendly staff and superb fast services, the food will be ready within 15 mins. BTLK is open from 10:30am to 3:00pm. Recommended: Ginger steam fish (whoever loves gingers, fresh and nicely done), Cheong Cheng fish head, and pork belly claypot (tasty with salted fish savoury 😋) and salted fish bean sprout.

A hidden gem for those who love old-school vibes! Tucked behind houses and under a big tree — true to its name. The steamed fish is a must-try, with incredibly good flavors, and the soup is tasty too. It can get a bit hot and oily inside, so I recommend sitting outside. A bit tricky to find for first-timers, but totally worth it. Highly recommend!

This is an old restaurant located in between a housing estate. Old school style cooking, overall quite tasty. The steam fish is pretty good and fresh. Crispy seafood tofu is also quite nice. Chicken wings are tasty. Bittergourd with roast pork wasn’t that good. Can’t expect much for environment or service, it’s not a very clean place, so must be open minded to eat here.

Finally visited Lin Kee after being recommended to it over the years. I'd say it didn't disappoint. The staff were attentive and the food came promptly, so that always helps when you arrive hungry. Not a deep menu with tons of options but for what they offer the kitchen executes the dishes well. The main dish i was there for was the steamed fish (I took the ginger option). All of us enjoyed it. It had just the right flavour, freshness and I'd rate it and overall a satisfying bite. Note: Just relying on Waze gets you close to the restaurant but not directly there as the restaurant is tucked away in a back lane. Use Google maps instead for the exact spot
