The 14 Best BBQ Restaurants in Kansas City - Eater

"Maybe it’s the 15-minute drive from downtown, or maybe it’s that you have to pass by LC’s Barbecue on the way to get here — whatever the reason, Big T’s has flown relatively under the radar compared with some of the city’s other barbecue giants. That’s a shame, because the wood-fired meats coming out of Timothy Jones’s brick pit are consistently great. The double-decker beef brisket sandwich is the best play, but the smoked turkey leg is surprisingly good too (certainly better than you’ll find at any Renaissance fair). Dine in to soak up the restaurant’s charmingly retro vibes, with decor evoking KC’s stockyard roots." - Liz Cook

Today I decided to go and indulge in BBQ. I decided to purchase the smoked turkey leg with two sides. the flavor was great and the meat was slightly chewy, but other than that the flavor was on point. I also had the natural-cut fries with the barbecue baked beans. The beans were very good and will be one of the reasons I will return. Great customer service and I will be going back.

I only give it 3 stars because, I can’t leave a 2 1/2 star however, I have been here several times and out of all the times. My food has been half and half. Meaning, sometimes it is good and most of the time it is not, or they don’t have what I want to order, they are always out of meat. I really rarely leave a negative review however, I work hard for my coins and when I exit work and stop to get my dinner, I would like a descent meal. This double beef sandwich had so much fat it shouldn’t had been served to anyone. I was very disappointed. 😔

Bread and ribs just saturated in oil. Ribs hard to chew. Didn’t give me the sausage that came with the combo plate. Could use some training in customer service too. Yeah I’ll go elsewhere for bbq.

First time visiting...the baked beans are the best I've ever had, and I've tried hundreds! I had the burnt ends and ribs, they were ok, i didn't really care for the bbq sauce. Overall I will come back for the beans...they are a must try!

I feel like big T's haves lower their standards they gave us shredded type beef when we ask for beef tips and burnt ends we paid $28 for two combo plates it was horrible a two-year-old could have eaten more than that I feel like Big T needs to get back to the basics give people their food when you spend $30 on food you need to get your money's worth not scraps they ran out of boxes so they wrap the food in a plate and some cellophane paper. My husband and I was very unhappy I'm going to take a picture and put it on Facebook so you can see the little bit of stuff we got for $28 come on Big T you need to get back to giving people rib tips and burnt ends not try to make three little sections out of one little burn in it's horrible I will say the flavor was good but spending $28 and this is all you get I won't be going back for a while

I am being generous in giving 2 stars. The food used to be good but the service is pretty much always rude. The last time I went, the woman working the drive thru was the usual rude I've come to expect but she wasn't wearing a mask! They were out of ribs and burnt ends and she seemed ticked off to have someone order them. Have you ever thought about taping a sign on the drive through menu? The rib tips were mostly gristle. Their fries used to be great but now they are under cooked and cold.

I was very happy when you reopened. I'm a sauce person and like dipping my fries in it to. Your sauce when it's made right is delicious but every since you've reopened I haven't had that great tasting sauce. The sauce that I've Been getting was very thick and hot. I use to love your sauce so much but today I had to pour half of my extra sauce out and mix it with Gates sweet and mild.

I went there Again and either the people unprofessional or the food is wrong. I ordered a combo sandwich beef and turkey and I distinctly asked for the beef to be lean. The blockmans response was "whatever hits my machine is what they gone get" . My response was "I hope I did not hear what I think I heard". They cashier said he was joking and closed the window. I got the food home and he made it All fat on the beef on purpose to be spiteful. I took the food back and the manager remade it properly. In these hard times we try to support black owned mom's and pops places and to be treated like that was inexcusable. This was my last trip here. The service gets worse and worse. Extremely mad on my Sabbath s Tanisha
